IP Salon and Beauty Supply owner Cha Williams approaches running her business the same way she approached playing basketball as a youth – with an emphasis on preparation, teamwork and flexibility. “You practice to be the best,” she said. For nearly a decade, it has been a game-winning plan. The full-service salon and beauty supply businesses, located in Lincoln Center South at 864 W. Benjamin Holt Drive, provide one-stop shopping for customers’ hair care needs. Both are open from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm daily. With more than 20 highly trained stylists, same-day appointments are typically available, and walk-in customers are welcome. Cha focuses on precision cutting techniques that mean clients spend less time blowdrying and stresses the importance of ongoing education to keep current with the latest products and trends. She seeks to create a salon environment that emphasizes excellence, cooperation and, most of all, satisfaction among VIP stylists. “The goal is to make people happy. They perform better,” she explained.

At the same time, Cha encourages clients to find the best stylist for their hair care needs. “Our clients should feel free to go to any stylist here. The client should find the best fit for their style and hair,” she said. VIP stylists and staff also help clients find the best products for their hair type and condition. The shop carries many high-end brands not available at other salons, including ICON, Enjoy and White Sands, according to Cha. She is also proud to announce the store’s partnership with Moroccan Oil hair care system. Additionally, VIP carries Dermalogica and Murad skincare lines. Cha, who was born in Thailand, attended cosmetology school in Hawaii before moving to Lancaster, California and Palmdale, California, where she opened salons, since closed. In 2002, she moved to Stockton and began searching for a “comfortable” space in which to do hair.

“The location and beauty of the Center pulled me in,” she said. Cha was undaunted by the empty storefront. “I started from scratch,” she said. “I had my own ideas anyway.” Cha’s belief system – influenced by motivational speaker Anthony Robbins – provides the foundation for her personal and professional life. “I create an environment to bring the best out of people,” she said. “Business growth will follow.” n
