4900GNS GUNNERFLEET JUMBO TOPS CRAVEN LIMOUSIN DAY AT SKIPTON

J

im & Ian Handley’s Gunnerfleet pedigree herd based at Chapel-leDale near Ingleton landed the top price of 4,900gns at Skipton’s Craven Limousin Day. Sale leader was the October 2014 born Gunnerfleet Jumbo. An embryo son of Cloughhead Umpire, out of Gunnerfleet Ecian, it sold to Mick Rodney, Masham. The Tomschoice herd from James & Sarah Cooper, Harrogate, had the day’s supreme champion with the three year old Carwin Icaros, sired by Roundhill Saturn, he sold for 4,600gns to Ian & Stuart Barritt, Summerbridge. A consignment of bulls from the Priestley family, Brampton, Carlisle peaked at 4,000gns for the 2014 born Brontemoor Jacksonfive, purchased by CJ Wardell & Sons, Malton. At 3,400gns was Brontemoor Jasper which sold to DT Houseman, Harrogate. The Reserve Supreme Championship went to the 2014 born Lissett Jagger, from Nicholas Tennant, Fraisthorpe. By Anside Flint and out of Bankdale Gaga, it sold for 3,600gns to CG & AJ Sutcliffe, Driffield. Procters Joker, sired by Claragh Franco from Procters Farm, Slaidburn sold for 3,700 gns to Keith Whitwell, Paythorne. Swale Locust, by Brontemoor Aceofspades, from John Swales, Thirsk, sold for 3,500gns to Don Leeming, Ramsgill. The Handleys also sold Gunnerfleet Lord, a January 2015 born son of Plumtree Fantastic for 3,400gns to J&J Robinson, Middleton in Teesdale. The Coopers offered for sale a draft

of older cows including five year old Tomschoice Champagne, which was female champion. By Sarkley Topknot, it sold in calf to the day’s champion, Icarus, for 1,800gns to T&H Kilby & Son, Wetherby.

KILLERTON JACKFROST LEADS EXETER SOUTH WEST LIMOUSIN CLUB SALE AT 2900GNS

K

ivells held their Annual Summer Sale of Pedigree Limousins at Exeter Livestock Centre, Devon on Friday 24th June and a packed ringside witnessed a solid trade. Top of the day was the 2900gns paid for the 18-month-old bull Killerton Jackfrost by Crossdykes Goliath from local breeder Patrick Greed. Mr Greed also sold another bull by Chytodden Conan at 2650gns Other bulls sold to 2700gns for Josh Leo by Loosbeare Docker from Messrs MA & D Luxton of Bude. The female section topped at 2400gns twice, firstly for Smithy Liberty a 13-month-old heifer by Ampertaine Gigolo out of the French & Dutch National champion cow Breizizel from Tony, Jo & Adam Smith of Bude. Also at the 2400gns mark was Moonleaze Lovestruck a 15-month-old heifer by Loosebeare Golddust from Mr & Mrs JJ & BD Comer of Wiltshire.

RINGWAY HERD REACHES 4300GNS AT CARLISLE

H

eld in July at Carlisle the sale of Limousins from the Ringway herd of the Henshall family, Lockerbie, and the Cowford herd from Norman Cruickshank, Lanark, peaked at 4,300gns for Ringway Demeter. This 2008 born cow by Ringway Aspen, sold in calf and with a bull calf by Ringway Foggy, to AF Thomson & Son, North Berwick. B&J Noden, Market Drayton paid 3,100gns for 2011 born Ringway Grayling by Procters Cavalier, with a heifer calf at foot by Ampertaine Gustav. They also bought two more cows and calves at 3,000gns and two at 2,700gns per outfit. The Cowford herd sold to 2,400gns for 2013 born Normande Ike, by Roundhill Franz, with a bull calf by Cillcon Greenson. The buyer was Andrew Graham, Kirkbean, Dumfries, who also paid 2,300gns 2,200gns and 2,100gns for other cows with calves.
