Embrace Cabin Furniture and Décor By woodlandcreek|Rustic Furniture|0 Comments If you are after some tips for decorating your cabin, then you are at the right place. However, it is not necessary for you to own aDi log cabin for this. Read on and discover the different ways you can replenish, redecorate, and refurnish existing furniture into cabin furniture. Paint and Materials Applying a paint finish to any surface can help to achieve a rustic look which can include kitchen cabinets, dining room chairs, occasional or dining tables, as well as cabin flooring. The materials can easily be purchased online for the project as well as from local hardware stores. Where to Start First, lightly sand the surface so that any treatment or surface finish is removed. Next, wipe it with a damp cloth and if the surface is not wood, you will need to prime the surface using a paint primer. If it is wood, then you can skip the priming. What you are after is a rough and rustic look, which goes to the next step of dry brushing the primer using a wide paintbrush. Add texture and streaks to your cabin furniture and allow this to dry. What Comes Next? For this step, it is important to test a few samples of treatments and paints. The process is both fun and rewarding, and if you are making your cabin furniture yourself, then it is something to be proud of. Achieve the Look Start with rich and dark browns as the base. This

way is both true and easy to achieving the rustic look. This color will be peaking through and is not the finish. The next coat is the finish color. For a rustic look, you may want to try muted or [...] Read More 19 01, 2016 

Barnwood Kitchen Tables: Long-Lasting Quality By woodlandcreek|Dining Table, Rustic Furniture|0 Comments Remember the first kitchen table you had? If it was like mine it probably came from the garage sale down the block. We used it for a year or so until the veneer on the side started to fall off. I wondered why it was so heavy and then I realized that it was particle board underneath. It was real wood but from scrape trees, chopped up and glued together. I got what I paid for… I’m glad I’m at a point in my life now where I can choose to have quality furniture made to my specifications. Woodland Creek furniture is real solid wood that has stood up to years of wear. It’s all made from reclaimed wood. Some from barns. Some from old buildings. But all seasoned hard from age and beautiful in texture. The article of furniture that gets the most use and abuse in our house is the kitchen table. Woodland Creek’s farm table is the most basic and well designed for family use. These farm tables are made to last for your lifetime and generations to come. It is made from solid wood. The amazing feature of barnwood is its ability to take scratches and make them part of the character of the wood. Kids will be kids and the kitchen table takes the abuse. But barnwood kitchen tables are so forgiving that a 30 second touch up is all that’s needed. The next time you are out shopping for furniture ask the sales staff questions. Is this real wood? Where is this furniture made? Do you have furniture that is not veneered? Don’t be taken in by synthetic materials that look like wood, it won’t last as long as [...]

About Our Wood Crates We build very strong wood crates to protect the furniture from damage during shipping. The size of the crate depends on the size of the order. Some crates are smaller and some very large. Trucks delivering medium to large size crates will have a lift-gate on the back to lower the crate to the ground. We must build wood crates to protect the furniture during transport. We Utilize only the most effective shippers to eliminate damages. It is our experience that while you can save a little money using inadequate shippers, your furniture will arrive damaged. For standard shipping it is the customer’s responsibility to dispose of the crate. See photo above for example of what a wood crate will look like. Each crate has instructions stapled to the side and explains how to open.

Shipping Damage or Furniture Returns – Very Important We build very strong wood crates to protect the furniture from damage during shipping. We do not use “recycled wood.” We use new OSB for our crates. If you notice damage to the exterior of the crate, please inspect your furniture carefully for damage. Damage must be noted at the time of delivery. Please immediately call us and describe the damage. If it is repairable, we will immediately send out the necessary parts to fix. If you believe your furniture is beyond repair, please contact your sales Rep or our shipping department immediately. If everyone is in agreement then the furniture will be rejected and it will be returned to us at no expense to you. NOTE: each crate is built so that either the top or one side is attached with screws. This is the side to open first and remove your furniture. DO NOT destroy crate until you have concluded the furniture is in good condition. If the furniture ordered is not heavy, the top will unscrew, and the piece can be removed from the top. For larger, heavier pieces, one side will unscrew. If there is damage to the piece, it is the customer’s responsibility to place the piece back inside the crate so the shipper can return the crated piece for credit. If the crate is destroyed by the customer while opening to inspect, the customer is responsible for constructing new crate and giving to shipper before “Credit” will be issued. Since Woodland Creek has started to ship using wood crates, product damage has declined substantially. It is our goal to get you your furniture in pristine condition. We thank you for your order and hope your furniture brings many years of happiness. Woodland Creek Management

Policies Home/Policies

Custom Orders Woodland Creek Furniture specializes in custom-made furniture. We are the only rustic furniture store in Michigan crafting many of its own lines of unique rustic furniture. If you are in Michigan we welcome you to visit our workshop and help select the woods for your project. Woodland Creek Furniture also carries several lines of furniture from specialized craftsmen from around the country and world. Customer orders require a 50% deposit to begin crafting. Balance will be collected after a thorough quality control inspection, and prior to packaging the item for shipment. Real Wood Furniture Woodland Creek Furniture only uses real wood for all its cabinets, furniture and mantels. Many pieces are constructed with real logs and solid slabs of wood. We prefer and actually seek out wood with cracks, twists and color. This is the inherent character of wood and is not considered a defect. Our reclaimed wood will have nail holes, board cupping, old pegs, patches, cracks, saw marks, water marks, worm holes, bug holes, sunspots, and dents. These attributes are not considered imperfections. We consider them character and believe they pay homage to the historical authenticity and original craftsmanship. Our furniture, therefore, does not have to be artificially distressed providing an authentic look that will last for generations. Wood adjusts different times of the year to the moisture content in the air. In a sense the wood breathes and will adjust to the moisture content of your home. You may notice a slab move or even develop small cracks. A dry home may cause the wood to move or crack more than a home with proper humidity. We do our best to make sure each piece of furniture is finished consistently which helps to reduce wood movement. Small cracks can be easily fixed by placing wood putty in with a plastic putty knife. Some clients prefer to highlight the cracks by dabbing black stain in for contrast. With proper care and maintenance your furniture will be around for many generations to enjoy. Barn Wood Furniture The wood comes from old barns taken down in Michigan, Indiana and Illinois. The barns we select are between 100 and 150 years old. The species are generally pine, spruce and oak. We occasionally come across and use other species. The wood is full of inherent character, blemishes, holes and various textures. Like the reclaimed wood barnwood will have nail holes, board cupping, old pegs, patches, cracks, saw marks, water marks, worm holes, bug holes, sunspots, and dents. These are not considered defects. Only the elements, oxidation and time cause the wood to turn this wonderful patina. Customers may notice old paint on the bottom sides of dining tables. The paint has been tested and does not contain lead. The old paint is not a health hazard and is not a reason to return a table. All our table tops and legs are crafted with aged barnwood. Table tops rest on a structural support frame which is made from new, stronger dimensional lumber. The support frame is not

visible unless you look under the table. The barnwood is fumigated before it is turned into beautiful furniture. You can expect saw marks and different textures between the various pieces of wood used in each piece of furniture. These are the natural imperfections and weather texture created over time. There may also be nail holes, adding authenticity to the history of your piece. When combined, the various textures and inherent attributes give each piece of furniture its own character – no two pieces are ever exactly alike nor do we guarantee any piece will look exactly like a specific photo shown on Woodland Creek’s web site. Cancellation Policy Once manufacturing has begun we are required to charge a 25% cancellation fee due to the wastage of precious wood and labor costs. If your order has shipped, but not yet received, the cancellation fee will be 40% of the entire Purchase Agreement amount. We will still have shipping charges but will be able to reconsign the shipment back to us without having incurred the complete cost. Return Policy Our simplified return policy requires you to contact your sales rep for a Return Authorization Number (RAN). Please include the RAN with your returned items within 14 days of receipt of goods and ensure the returned items are palletized and arrive back in our warehouse in the same condition as when they left. The original packaging material will greatly assist you in this endeavor. Refunds, minus a 25% restocking fee and all shipping charges, will be issued within 7 days following inspection. Refunds will be processed by the same means as payment was tendered. Clients with cancelled cards will receive their refund via corporate check. Shipping Policy We select shipping companies that agree to deliver our customer’s furniture in a timely and safe manner, however, please understand the shipping companies are run by their own policies and procedures, which are completely out of our control. Woodland Creek Furniture makes no guarantee furniture will be delivered by a specified date. We will provide an estimated date if requested, but this is not to be taken as a guarantee. Should this date not be met, it is not a valid reason to cancel the order. Unless otherwise specified sales staff will quote the less expensive curb-side delivery method often referred to as Common Carriers. Freight companies will deliver to your driveway, and lower the palletized furniture to the ground with a lift gate. The drivers will not move the crate at that point, it will be the responsibility of the customer. These deliveries are often with 50’ freight trucks so roads and driveways can sometimes be an issue. Performed by smaller transportation companies, white glove service is also an available option at additional costs. This service will typically add 2-3 weeks to the transit time and should be considered if a smaller UPS-sized truck is necessary to reach your home or if you require inside delivery and assembly.

Damage Policy If visible damage to the crate appears to be slight please note it on the Proof of Delivery form. Do not destroy the crate. Upon inspection of the contents if you notice damage please take photos and send them to your sales representative or our shipping department. In most cases slight damage can easily be repaired with materials we will send to you. If damage to the crate is severe you have the option of immediately refusing delivery of your order or to inspect the contents before accepting. Either way, you must note the damage on the Proof of Delivery form. Failing to note damage will affect Woodland Creek’s ability to file a damage claim on your behalf.

About Us Home/About Us

Woodland Creek Furniture Woodland Creek started with an idea to make unique rustic furniture from exotic woods. During the summer of 1997 Robert Evina, Woodland Creek’s founder, traveled extensively through remote villages in Russia, Ukrainia, Romania, and Hungary. During his travels he came across beautiful exotic woods. Having watched his uncles in Alaska craft log homes and rustic furniture, he knew the exotic woods would make some very interesting rustic furniture.

The Woods – Reclaimed Wood + Sustainable Wood = Eco Friendly Furniture Robert showed his designs and met clients at shows across the country. During these shows Robert met other rustic furniture builders from different parts of the United States. Friendships were made and wood was traded. The wood is primarily standing dead or reclaimed wood from farmers’ ranches or old barns. Eco Friendly Furniture has recently become very popular. Woodland Creek has been using reclaimed wood for over ten years – long before reclaimed furniture became popular. Woodland Creek now imports reclaimed wood from Eastern Europe, Mexico, Indonesia, China, California, Utah, and Colorado. When you combine a wood from Eastern Europe with a wood from California or Michigan, you have a look unlike any other and rustic furniture like any other. Our furniture designs have evolved over time. The line between rustic furniture and contemporary furniture is being blurred. Even those who like contemporary furniture appreciate the organic feel of real wood. You get a very unique look by combining thick organic natural slabs with modern bases. Woodland Creek has a new web page called Contemporary Rustic Furniture. Our contemporary rustic furniture will work in a modern or urban setting or fitting in a timber frame or log home where the owners want to soften the rustic side.

It is Woodland Creek’s goal to offer the highest quality, most unique rustic furniture in the country with superior customer service.

A Rustic Furniture Pioneer – Matt Madsen

Matt Madsen began building rustic furniture almost forty years ago. Matt was one of the pioneers of the rustic furniture movement. Matt worked with us for several years. Matt taught us many valuable woodworking techniques and the art of free form furniture. Matt has since passed away. We hope he is in a better place full of the really twisty wood he loved to work with. Matt’s art lives on in each and every piece of furniture made by Woodland Creek. We are grateful to have had him with us. Matt strived to handcraft the most unique rustic furniture in the world. As his apprentices, we strive to honor him with this same goal.
