Wembley retain the North Munster Cup Wembley Rvs 1 Pike Rvs 0

Wembley retained the North Munster Cup with a single goal victory over Pike Rvs. FAI Area; Wembley Rvs Though the match was played at 12.30 a reasonable crowd turned out but they were disappointed with the fare as it scarcely bore the traces of Saxone Cup; Star Rvs a cup final. Reason for this below par showing may be attributed to the hard state of the ground, with players on both sides often finding it difficult to propel the lively leather, a failing which has been a sad feature of even professional exhibitions. Pike, Wembley’s bogey side, were a little unlucky but have only themselves to blame for their finishing. If Waters had connected properly to A McKeown’s cross the effort would probably have put them on the road to victory. Wembley availed of the one chance that came their way in the second half through Keogh. That goal seemed to settle the issue and Wembley reorganised and their defence never wavered. Dermot O’Callaghan was safe in the winners goals with O’Sullivan, Neilan and Ryan proving stern defenders. Griffin, Cusack, Byrne and Keogh also played their part. Jimmy Madden in the losers goal effected a number of good saves while A McKeown and brother Joe produced earnest displays. Casey did well in the back line with Kelly and Waters good up front.
