BEGINNER/ ADVANCED BEGINNER INTRODUCTION TO PAINTING TECHNIQUES ( 5 WEEKS ) Refine and develop painting technique as you build on basic skills. Students will focus on the continued development of painting techniques as they investigate the importance of a color plan in painting. Brush and pallet knife use and the incorporation of painting mediums are explored. Prerequisite: First-Time Drawing into Painting or prior experience

Beginning Painting will give you various techniques for working with paint, including mixing colors and determining the best type of brush to use. This class is ideal for those who have taken First-Time Drawing into Painting or have previous experience and want to expand their skills. Supply kits and additional materials available for purchase.

Watercolor is a versatile painting medium that allows the artist a range of expression including representational, fluid sketches and improvisational abstracts. Students with a foundation in drawing or painting will receive a comprehensive introduction to watercolor techniques such as blending and glazing. Representational techniques will be expanded upon as fun special effects with the medium are explored. Material kit may be purchased on the first day.

INTRODUCTION TO THE PORTRAIT AND FIGURE ( 4 WEEKS ) This beginning to intermediate level drawing class teaches the fundamentals of drawing portraits and figures while working from a nude model. Weekly demonstrations and structured exercises will emphasize observation, proportion, measuring, anatomy, and seeing the figure and face as simply a matter of integrated shapes. Students will work in charcoal and contĂŠ, and must supply their own materials. A materials list is available online. Saturday 10am-1pm

Students who are new to drawing or those who paint and would like to refresh their drawing skills will discover something useful in this entry level class. The use of value, line, and proportion will be demonstrated toward the development of balanced compositions.

Learn the fundamentals of working with watercolors in this introductory class. Each lesson will focus on basic watercolor techniques. Brush use, value shape, composition, color mixing and layering will be discussed. Students should have foundation skills in painting and drawing. Material kit may be purchased on the first day.
