A Message from our Artistic Director

Derek Rit Artistic Dirschel ector

Welcome to our first holiday pantomime at Lighthouse Festival! This time-honoured British tradition is just catching fire on this side of the Atlantic and we’re so excited to bring this over-the-top, comedic production to the Lighthouse stage. Silly costumes? Check. Crazy sets? Check. Musical numbers? Check. This “written for adults but enjoyed by children” play has something for everyone.

The world has been having its ups and downs over the past couple of years, but we’ve been fortunate at Lighthouse to have the support of a terrific patron base, dedicated performers, tireless technicians, countless volunteers and a wonderful admin team. All of us together have made sure that Lighthouse Festival will forge on for decades to come. So, I say bravo to you all on a job well done. Now it’s time to enjoy some of that Canadian sense of humour that we do so well. Enjoy the show, team!

tt J.J. Kno Chair

We are excited to bring a new holiday tradition to Port Dover and Port Colborne! Our pantomime of Jack and the Beanstalk is produced and directed by some of the best in the business and performed by an amazing cast of characters. We also have an excellent behind-the-scenes support crew from prop building, lighting and sound, costume and make-up, technical support, box office, artistic direction, and administration. Every one of our Lighthouse Festival staff, and volunteers, are dedicated to the delivery of the best in live theatre experience and hospitality. But we could not do it without you, our patrons, our donors, and our sponsors. We want to thank you for your ongoing support of the theatre and everything it brings to the communities we serve. It is this support that makes it all happen and we can’t thank you enough. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT Lighthouse Festival acknowledges that Lighthouse is established on land that has been inhabited by Indigenous peoples for millennia. We are grateful to be able to live, work and create on the Treaty Lands and Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation as well as the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe peoples. Volunteers They keep our theatres running all year long. No matter where we might need to fill a gap, you can guarantee a volunteer is there to offer their helping hands. These remarkable people live in our communities and believe in what we do.

Artists These incredibly gifted people take a script – simply words on paper – and create a whole world. The designers, directors, stage managers and actors come into town for just a couple of weeks but the impression they leave on us lasts much longer.

Staff The stunning worlds created on our stage just don’t magically appear, they’re built by our amazing technical team. Our administration team, the engine of Lighthouse, make sure you get the information you need to experience incredible theatre. You might not see their faces but they make sure it all happens.

Front of House From booking your seats, working with our volunteers, and staying up to date on all that Lighthouse has to offer. They are dedicated to making your experience enjoyable. They are the voice of our theatres. Watch our video here featuring all of the amazing people who make up Lighthouse!

April 12 — April 28, 2024 Failing producer Max Bialystock and his accountant, Leo Bloom, scam a group of elderly women out of their nest eggs by convincing them to invest in a horrendously offensive Third Reich-themed musical secretly intended to bomb the moment it opens. But when high-brow Broadway audiences mistakenly assume "Springtime for Hitler" is a satire, Bialystock finds himself with the critical acclaim that has long eluded him — and the biggest hit of his career!
