Werner Pumps secures contract for 9 trucks for Ethekwini

Werner Pumps has secured a contract for nine of its locally manufactured highpowered jetting and vacuuming truck units through a contractor to the eThekwini Municipality. The order is part of a much larger fleet contract for 147 vehicles.

Werner Pumps, as a leading supplier of South African built high-pressure jetting equipment with a 30-year track record, will be supplying the sewer and stormwater maintenance truck units.

“It’s a specialist aspect of the fleet and we’re excited to be part of the drive to improve waste water service delivery in KwaZulu-Natal,” says Sebastian Werner, MD of Werner Pumps. “We’re supplying one combination unit and eight jetting units.” The trucks need to be manufactured and delivered by June 2022, so Werner says it’s all-hands on deck at the company’s 6000m2 premises in Springs, where Werner Pumps builds the truck-mounted units from scratch. The company also operates a service and maintenance service, delivers operator training, supplies a full range of spares and accessories, and offers a rental unit from its headquarters. It has a national presence and has been on an expansion drive in recent years, adding everything from flexible financing solutions to investing in its manufacturing capabilities. The trucks on order include the Werner Basic 12.500l combination unit, which has a capacity of 230l/min at 250 bar and is fitted with a pneumatically operated regulating valve, making pressure adjustment simple and contributing to operator safety. The vacuum pump has a 400 litres/sec suction capability and the vehicle is fitted with a 12.500 litre stainless steel tank. Other features include a manual slewing suction boom, one hydraulic-driven hose reel and multiple toolboxes. The other eight trucks are Werner Hippo Jetting 5000l units, which has a Werner high-pressure piston plunger pump with a capacity of 230l/min and a max 250-bar pressure. “It’s wonderful to be busy and to see the fruits of our hard work,” says Werner. “We hope that this contract will develop into future fleet contracts for eThekwini Municipality, as well as other municipalities around South Africa.”
