Integrated Pump Rental offers the responsiveness customers require, whether considering pump dewatering or dredging rental solutions.

The company operates an extensive rental fleet servicing all sectors including mining, construction, wastewater and general industry. Lee Vine, managing director of Integrated Pump Rental, says that what sets the company’s team apart from other players in these sectors is its technical expertise and experience, enabling the accurate assessment of individual applications and specifying the most appropriate fit-forpurpose pump rental solution. The pump rental offering includes submersible drainage and dewatering pumps, slurry and sludge pumps, diesel driven pumps, dredging and hydro-mining systems and flotation devices, hoses and accessories. Rental solutions are provided as a short-, medium- or long-term contracts. In addition to rental solutions, Integrated Pump Rental boasts the in-house capability to design and build reliable, high-performance diesel-driven pumps locally. “This has opened up new opportunities and was initiated in response to customer demand,” Vine says. “We have longstanding customers that were unable to source dewatering pump sets within a short lead time and their preference was to purchase and not rent.” Integrated Pump Rental was able to meet this need, and with its in-house capability can design and build a pump set engineered specifically to provide the flow required in a particular application. Aspects considered during the process include an assessment of the operational requirements and where necessary the materials of construction are chosen to deal with specific conditions such as water acidity and abrasiveness. Vine explains that both the wet end for the pump set as well as the balance of components and materials are selected to meet the working conditions. “Mobility is also a consideration, and we offer pump sets as either a skid or trailer mounted unit, and we couple the system to the customer’s diesel engine of choice.” Importantly, the pump solution is put together by a team that includes qualified draughtsmen and experienced boilermakers, electricians and diesel mechanics. Vine emphasises that the team has a hands-on approach with close collaboration between all ensuring that the application requirements are met and that the solution can be delivered within the required time frame. Commenting on the Sykes pump itself, Vine explains that Integrated Pump Rental is responsible for the Sykes range of dewatering pumps in southern Africa. Sykes pumps are designed to offer robust and reliable performance and can handle high volumes of water with ease, and the brand has an established reputation for the fast and effective control and removal of water. The most typical application of Sykes dewatering pump technology is on building and construction sites, civil engineering projects, local municipality works, flood disaster recovery, load-out stabilisation, slurry transfer, ash handling, water boosting and pipeline filling and testing as well as general dewatering activities to lower the water table. Constructed using quality materials, the Sykes pumps are automatically priming pumps and can run dry for extended periods due to the oil bath mechanical seal assembly. This feature on the pump allows priming with long suction hoses and suction lifts of up to 9 metres. As suction levels fluctuate, the pump will “snore” until the liquid is available for the pump to fully reprime itself automatically. “What is significant for our team is that many of the customers who are requesting pump sets built for them are customers that previously rented Sykes pumps from us and were impressed with the performance and reliability of those Sykes units.” Vine says. While diesel driven pumps are most in-demand, Vine says that the company can also design pump sets driven by electric motors for those applications where electrical power is available on site.
