Hart slurry pumps, redefining simple dependable value
“Since the introduction of the HART range of slurry pumps almost three years ago it has earned an enviable reputation of simple, dependable value.” So says Barry Makanji, Managing Director of Africa Slurry Pump Solutions (SPS).
“The combination of consistently superior quality, expert application engineering with process problem solving capabilities, and value-based pricing makes HART a very compelling proposition in the African slurry pump market.” Unlike many suppliers of mining and minerals processing equipment, SPS is focussed exclusively on slurry pumps. This single-minded focus and deep specialisation have enabled SPS to bring a comprehensive range of slurry pumps and associated ancillary equipment to market in a comparatively short time. Also, SPS has established solid relationships with regional distributors in most major African mining locales. “Strong, personal relationships, both internal and external, are the cornerstone of the SPS way. This explains the choice of HART as our brand name,” continues Makanji. “SPS has a specialist manufacturing team with many years of experience and time-honed production techniques that ensures HART products are of consistent high-quality. This results in fewer breakdowns, and ensures scheduled maintenance intervals are met.”
“A second facet of the HART brand is that we regard slurry pumps as the heart of any minerals processing operation. Our mission is to keep these pumps running better for longer.” He goes on to explain that HART consistently outperforms competitors’ products in like-for-like wear-life cycle trials. “Add our deep and wide application engineering capability to unlock a whole new level of cost-optimal slurry pumping. We confidently claim that we will outrun the competition when comparing the total cost of ownership”. Expert application engineers, capable of optimising any plant using a what-if approach, are key to SPS’s rapid rise. The application engineering process yields optimal pump, bearing assembly and motor sizing as well as the correct material selection. In most cases, this results in smaller, less expensive solutions. Savings in life-of-plant spare parts, electricity, and gland service water amplify the capital cost saving. Makanji gloats: “SPS is all about saving customers real money. It is not uncommon to unlock lifetime savings that exceed the initial capital cost of a project.” As a result, the company successfully secured and executed slurry pump projects in countries as far afield as Ghana, DRC, Tanzania and Zimbabwe while making inroads in the established and mature South African market as well.
“Our avidly customer-driven sales team gives our customers unprecedented turn-around times on requests for quotations. Project RFQ’s receive the same sense of urgency, with proposals finalised in days rather than weeks or months as may be the norm. This passion for service excellence is reflected in an uncommonly large, customerfocused inventory of commonly specified pumps and parts.” “Our extended technical support includes general arrangement drawings and exploded views with comprehensive bills of materials. We believe in education and skills development at all levels, we therefore offer focused training solutions to operators, maintenance personnel, supply chain officers and plant engineers as a complimentary service. We also believe there is no substitute for seeing problem applications first hand – we are on site whenever needed to help resolve operational issues and provide professional failure analysis. These are value-added services we do not charge for”, Makanji concludes. If the results of the past three years are anything to go by, SPS is clearly set to achieve great success with their HART range of slurry pumps. Simple dependable value never looked this good.
