Matthew 24 Fulfilled

Kentucky. (See E. Y. Mullins, The Christian Religion in its Doctrinal Expression, 459.) One more recent one was well-known writer and theologian Loraine Boettner. (See Loraine Boettner, The Millennium, 252–262.) There are others, of course, which we could mention if we took the time to look them up and list them.

Old Testament Passages Where God Came Down In the Old Testament there are many passages where we find the same kind of language used to describe God’s coming to bring judgment into the world and to manifest His power, as we find also in Matthew 24. In Genesis 18:21 the Lord said concerning Sodom and Gomorrah, “I will GO DOWN now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it,” That visit and investigation resulted in the Lord’s raining “upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven” (Genesis 19:24). Deuteronomy 33:2: The LORD CAME from Sinai, and rose up from Seir unto them; he shined forth from mount Paran, and he CAME with ten thousands of saints. Isaiah 31:4: …so shall the LORD of hosts COME DOWN to fight for mount Zion, and for the hill thereof.” Isaiah 64:3: “…thou CAMEST DOWN, the mountains flowed down at thy presence.” When was this done? “When thou didst terrible things which we looked not for….” Isaiah 66:15: For, behold, the LORD will COME with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire. Psalm 18:9: He bowed the heavens also, and CAME DOWN. Psalm 47:5: The hills melted like wax at the PRESENCE of the Lord. Psalm 50:3: Our God SHALL COME, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him.”
