Types and

Symptoms of

Down Syndrome...

Down syndrome is one of the known genetic disorders, in which an individual has an extra full or partial copy of chromosome 21.

Human beings have 23 pairs of chromosomes combinely received from biological father and mother.

This abnormal cell division, down syndrome, causes many issues relating to the intellectual ability, physical features,

learning ability and developmental delays in an affected child.

With the help of qualified therapists, you can get a better understanding of the disease and have a timely intervention for the betterment of the child. Here are the three types of down syndrome:

It is the situation in which during the conception either father or mother’s pair of chromosome 21 failed to split.

Trisomy 21 Down Syndrome:

As a result the embryo has three chromosomes-21 instead of two. When the cell starts to replicate, the extra copy of chromosome 21 also gets replicated. This is the most common down syndrome in all the three.

It is quite similar to Trisomy 21, yet in here the additional chromosome 21

Translocation Down Syndrome:

is attached to one of the other chromosomes.

Thus, the total number remains the same as 46 chromosomes.

This syndrome also known by the name “Mosaicism, is the situation in which only some of the cells- not all the replicated cells- have this extra copy chromosome 21.

Mosaic Down Syndrome:

It is the rarest syndrome seen in human beings. Each individual with down syndrome has

These are the common symptoms seen in children and adults with down syndrome.

CONCLUSION There are best rehabilitation centers in UAE who help in dealing with children with these issues. In most cases doctors diagnose down syndrome even before the birth of the child giving parents proper information and knowledge regarding the matter. Sometimes the syndrome is so mild that it will go unnoticed, whereas certain other cases are in need of good therapies.
