LIFE’s Master of Sport Health Science: Build A Rock-Solid Career Life University’s unparalleled graduate program in Sport Health Science is designed to advance your undergraduate and professional knowledge, experience and

passion for human athletic performance through the power of vitalistic philosophy. Whether your ultimate goals lie in research, teaching, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, sport injury management, health promotion, corporate fitness, community-based fitness and wellness programs or fields such as physical and occupational therapy, medicine or Chiropractic, LIFE’s Master of Sport Health Science program gives you a uniquely solid and innovative foundation on which to build your career, and the educational edge you need to outstrip the competition. Small-Scale, Big Impact As a Life University Sport Health Science student, you will learn in an intimate class setting – no lecture halls here – where you will work side-by-side with peers and professors in small group and one-on-one interactions. LIFE draws a high number of post-baccalaureate students and career-changers to its lush campus setting, so you’ll be surrounded by true peers who share common goals, experiences and philosophies, while hailing from a diverse array of backgrounds and cultures. The LIFE Edge Your hours in the classroom are vital for acquiring the advanced sport health science knowledge and skills you’ll need to excel in your chosen career. That’s why the Sport Health Science Department offers rigorous, interdisciplinary course programming, as well as complementary hours in state-of-the-art labs. But mastery also requires practice – and lots of it. As such, the Master of Sport Health Science curriculum is designed to allow you to become a true expert, not only in the theories

behind the science, but in the practical application of scientific research in the areas of sport health and human performance. To do that, you must log a significant amount of time on and in your field, as well as in classes and laboratories. Our students agree that pairing classroom study with real-world, hands-on learning – working closely with subjects ranging from sedentary individuals to elite athletes in a variety of field settings – is a winning combination. Our Faculty Our Sport Health Science faculty are drawn from prominent programs all over the country. These multi-disciplined professionals bring a wealth of teaching, clinical and/or practical experience to LIFE, having worked with populations ranging from elite athletes to individuals struggling to cope with chronic physical conditions. We believe that great teachers make great students (and vice versa), and that a strong learning environment begins with solid faculty backgrounds in both research-based and practical/clinical Sport Health Science careers. Our Curriculum Every Sport Health Science student understands the importance of flexibility. We’ve designed a 52-credit program that allows you to pick and choose from core classes and specialty courses to suit your unique interests, strengths and career goals. Throughout each course, students are exposed to the current science and issues affecting the injury management, coaching and sport health industries, in a program that combines classroom instruction with complementary practical experiences. Students – especially those interested in biomechanics, fitness, injury management and cardio-respiratory physiology

– will gain significant experience through in-depth lab components, conducted in our modern laboratory facilities and overseen by highly skilled and dedicated faculty (never a teaching assistant). Our Practicum & Internships But hands-on learning doesn’t stop at the lab. Through unique collaborative efforts within our diverse University community, the Sport Health Science program offers practicum and internship experiences with our own Life University Sport Science Institute (LSSI) – a leading-edge facility focused on evaluating and maximizing human athletic performance – and the functional rehabilitation facilities contained in our public clinic, the Center for Health and Optimum Performance (C-HOP). We’ve also developed successful partnerships with local healthcare delivery systems, collegiate athletic programs, rehabilitation centers, clinical exercise programs, and community and corporate wellness programs – so whatever your ultimate goals may be, you won’t have to wait until after graduation to get in the game. Specialized Success Our Master of Sport Health Science program offers you six distinct paths through which to achieve your professional goals. Depending on your areas of interest, you can choose to specialize in: Chiropractic Sport Science - For Doctor of Chiropractic students with a particular interest in providing integrative care for athletes, Chiropractic Sport Science emphasizes advanced coursework in biomechanics, kinesiology, arthrokinematics, exercise physiology, functional rehabilitation and sport injury management.

A Lifelong Career As a Sport Health Science professional, you want a successful, dynamic and rewarding career – not simply a job. That’s just what you’ll get with a Master’s degree from LIFE. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics expects that the demand for exercise science professionals will increase much quicker than the average for all occupations

through 2014. That means the field is growing – fast. The unique skills, experiences and philosophies you’ll gain at Life University will prepare you to meet that demand head on, and heads above your fellow candidates. According to the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the landscape of exercise science is changing. The ACSM is leading a national initiative to promote exercise as an integral part of total wellness care; encouraging more and more physicians and other health professionals to prescribe exercise to their patients in response to the public’s demand for less invasive, more lifestyle-centric solutions to their health concerns. As a result, the number of health professionals looking to partner with exercise science professionals for the benefit of their patients (and their bottom lines) is growing, and will continue to grow, well into the future. LIFE’s Master of Sport Health Science program directly aligns with the demands of this growing market. Driven by the vitalistic principle

that the body is self-developing, self-maintaining and selfhealing, and recognizing full-spectrum, balanced wellness for the whole person as the best means for achieving optimal performance on and off the athletic field, Life University’s Master’s graduates are uniquely qualified to lead their clients and collaborators into a healthier, higher-performing future. Whether you plan to make your living developing testing and training protocols for individual clients, leading group classes, consulting with athletic teams as sport injury and performance specialists, and/or serving as a resource in health clubs, cardiac rehab centers or corporate fitness programs, with a Master’s in Sport Health Science from Life University, you have a head start on a career that will last a lifetime.
