Infrastructure for the People Baja California Sur, 22 January 2012. President Calderón supervised work on the four-lane La PazTodos Santos-Los Cabos Highway and inaugurated the 90-kilometer stretch. This road will improve the economy in the south of the state and the quality of life of all the inhabitants by becoming an axis that will improve road links and reduce traveling times. The president declared that since Los Cabos is a crucial tourist center for Mexico, the inauguration of this construction will increase tourism and boost economic activity throughout the region. The project involved an investment of 3.5 million pesos and will enable the over 8,000 vehicles that travel along it every day to advance more safely and quickly. Travel time
between La Paz and Cabo San Lucas will be reduced from 2:15 to 1:30 hours. The size of the investment involved makes this one of the most important highways in the region, second only to the one from Mazatlán to Durango As part of the highway complex, the project will include a flyover in Todos Santos that will further reduce travel time. This flyover will also improve living conditions for the Todos Los Santos community, which will benefit from the reduced traffic flow. The president concluded by saying that in addition to improving road links between people, infrastructure triggers employment and in this case, will increase the flow of visitors and trade.
