LIFESTYLE LETTER

Health & Wellness As we step into the promising embrace of 2024, it is with great joy and enthusiasm that we extend our warmest wishes to each and every member of our cherished communities. The dawn of a new year brings with it a unique opportunity for renewal, growth, and the pursuit of our best selves. In the spirit of this fresh start, we encourage you to embark on a journey of well-being. Setting goals is an empowering first step, but it is the daily commitment to these aspirations that truly shapes our destinies. Whether your aspirations are focused on personal health, professional success, or the nurturing of meaningful relationships, let each day be a deliberate stride toward your dreams. We recognize the intricate dance of life – the delicate balance between work, health, leisure, and personal connections. In this tapestry, it's the consistent, day-to-day choices that weave the threads of our existence. While taking a vacation every day may be impractical, finding moments of respite in your work week is an achievable goal. Similarly, relishing in occasional indulgences, be it a decadent dinner or a special treat, can coexist harmoniously with a commitment to overall well-being. This year, let us collectively embrace a lifestyle that prioritizes both our inner and outer selves. Mental and physical health are symbiotic forces, and as a community, let's uplift one another in the pursuit of a harmonious balance. May 2024 be a year of wellness, health, and love for each member of our community. Together, let's foster an environment where the collective pursuit of happiness becomes a shared journey. Here's to a healthy and happy 2024, filled with moments of joy, growth, and fulfillment. Thank you for reading Lifestyle and I hope to see you around town.

Begin the new year by prioritizing dental care for a healthy and vibrant smile, relying on the expertise of the area's most trusted team in a warm, welcoming environment, ensuring oral health all year long. Dr. Heather Simpson, the owner of Diamond Dentistry in Yorba Linda, is dedicated to helping every patient feel confident showing off their healthy smiles. “We offer a wide range of dental services, including— but not limited to—crowns/implant crowns, bridges, veneers, in-office LED whitening, Botox, fillings, extractions, root canals, dentures, partials, oral cancer screenings, TMJ nightguards, cosmetic restorations, Invisalign, and smile makeovers.” A lifelong resident of the area, Dr. Simpson and her caring, compassionate team are committed to providing not only exceptional dental care but personalized attention as well. “Our goal is to educate you on your oral health while helping you maintain a healthy dental routine at home.” Delivering individualized, detail-oriented customer service means communicating pertinent information clearly, effectively, and always with empathy. “Our office caters to patients’ needs and finances. Patients are shown what needs to be done through intra-oral images, wellness scans, and digital X-rays. Patients all have Dr. Simpson’s cell phone number for concerns or emergencies.” To maximize patient access to Diamond Dentistry’s superb services, they accept a variety of payment plans and financing options, in addition to taking most PPO insurance plans. If it’s emotional support you seek with issues related to your dental care, Dr. Simpson has you covered. With a background in counseling, helping patients deal with dental anxiety and allowing them to feel more comfortable is one of her many strengths.

Helping others is second nature to Dr. Simpson, who prides her practice on serving others outside the four walls of Diamond Dentistry as much as inside. “We are a member of the Yorba Linda Chamber of Commerce, and we are involved with local philanthropic organizations, events, and sponsoring school sports teams in the area. We pride ourselves on taking Continuing Education courses to keep up with advancements in technology,” says Dr. Simpson. Dr. Simpson undoubtedly draws inspiration from her family, including her husband, four young children, and her father, Dr. Louis Cohen, who has been a successful practicing dentist for many years. While pursuing her educational journey, she worked as an assistant in his dental office, which grew her passion for dentistry as she saw firsthand the impact he had on others. Dr. Simpson hopes to continue her father’s longstanding legacy of incredible patient care and professionalism. “His work ethic and compassion drive how I deal with my own patients,” she says. Dr. Simpson and her Diamond Dentistry team have their sights set on strengthening their North Orange County community ties and presence in the future. “We want to keep expanding our patient base and outreach to local communities. We hope to continue to grow with our technological capabilities and improvements to cater to our patients.” Above all, it’s patient comfort and confidence in their care that drives the Diamond Dentistry team. “We are committed to enhancing the natural beauty of your smile using the latest technology, offering everything from routine checkups to cosmetic and restorative care. At our office, we believe in constantly raising our standard of excellence and strive to take care of your dental needs in a calm and friendly environment. In 2013, the SCCO Board of Trustees approved a university structure that would allow for additional programs, naming it after the founder of SCCO, Dr. Marshall B. Ketchum. Dr. Nakano notes, “[Ketchum has] a rich and vibrant history of graduating top-notch clinicians. This is witnessed throughout the entire program and how each portion of the curriculum builds on each other to produce great clinicians.” Ketchum’s specialties are wide-ranging, and all care is provided in an expansive setting. “We have over 50 examination rooms, six diagnostic rooms, one of CONTINUED >

The staff, doctors, and interns enjoy taking care of our neighbors from Anaheim, Santa Ana, Yorba Linda, Placentia, Fullerton, and all Southern California communities. The dispensary has over 2,500 frames on display with an additional 500 frames in drawers. Our goal is to fulfill every patient’s optical needs, including infants, children, and adults. In addition, the optical department has a vast selection of safety glasses for protection while on the job or for the DIY person,” he says.

Ring in the new year with a new and improved you—from the inside out. One way to put your best (and fittest) foot forward is at IM=X Pilates and Fitness, which offers group classes in reformer Pilates, barre, indoor cycle, and yoga, as well as private training in Yorba Linda. IM=X Owner/Operator Erin Lindsley opened the doors of her innovative studio five years ago, and her booming business continues to evolve to best serve its customers and the greater community. “We have a staff of ten instructors to suit all of your fitness needs!” says Erin. “Each instructor has many years of collective experience to help provide you with a low-impact and safe workout. The great thing about our studio is that you only need ONE membership to take advantage of all of the classes we offer.” If you’re worried about an injury or other physical issue, don’t let it stop you from taking that first crucial step on your path to health and wellness. “Knee injury? No problem. Lower back pain? You came to the right place,” says Erin. “Our staff is expertly trained to provide you with guidance and modifications so you can get the most from your workout in a 50-minute session. Our staff is passionate about fitness, and we’re here to help you achieve all of your individual goals!”

Erin and her team are truly thankful for their family of clients who continually inspire them and push them to offer an unparalleled level of service. “I like to think that each and every one of our clients is the source of our inspiration! Each client has their own unique needs and goals, and we pride ourselves on being able to cater to each individual in order to provide an effective, full body, low-impact workout,” she says. Striving for excellence and delivering superior customer service is the way of life at IM=x, but that fierce dedication isn’t limited to helping humankind—they love giving back to precious pups as well. “We partner with local dog rescue Labradors and Friends! We love to host Puppy Yoga and donate proceeds to this wonderful group so they can continue to help save furry friends and find their forever homes.” In addition to giving back to animals in need, IM=x further fuels their philanthropic passion by supporting an array of local charitable organizations. “IM=X Pilates Yorba Linda loves to be involved in local school charities,” Erin says. “We donate to ASB, PTA, and other educational charities in Yorba Linda and Anaheim Hills. We also participate in holiday fundraisers such as ‘Make-A-Wish’ and ‘Foster Love’ events.” With so many irons in the fire, it’s important to the IM=X crew to stay focused on continual growth for the future—which is undoubtedly full of helping people achieve total wellness. “Bottom line—we plan to keep doing what we are doing!” she says. “At the same time, we are always striving to push our clients and our staff to become the best versions of themselves.” “Evolution is necessary for positive change, and we are here to help guide you on your path to well-being!” www.imx pilates.com/california/yorba-linda

A HOL I S T IC a p p ro a c h TO H E A LT H OC Acupuncture and Herbs is a locally owned clinic in Fullerton offering a natural and holistic approach that combines ancient traditions with up-to-date science-based understanding of the body. Holistic medicine enhances healing naturally by nourishing the body and removing obstructions and blockages. Fascia Therapy is new in 2024. Lori is one of the few practitioners who combine acupuncture with fascia therapy. She is trained in fascia manipulation and effectively combines this modern framework with classical theories to apply acupuncture and herbal medicine to treat myofascial pain and chronic inflammation. “OC Acupuncture and Herbs strongly feel it is our responsibility as healthcare practitioners to empower our patients to take care of their own health.” “When the mind and body are aligned and in a fully rested and relaxed state, that is when self-healing mechanisms can function most optimally.” Nature is our main inspiration. Returning to the awareness of connecting with the patterns of nature, we can regain grounding and guidance. Clients seeking total health and balanced wellness with a natural approach can choose from a variety of holistic services, including acupuncture, herbal prescription, fire cupping, manual fascia therapy, and diet/lifestyle consultations. The clinic is an inclusive space that caters to any of your holistic healthcare needs, including all stages of reproductive health and aging. They welcome you to stop in and see how they can help you rejuvenate your mind, body, and spirit. “We are proud to be serving our diverse communities and offering them the best of what holistic Eastern medicine has to offer.” ocacuherbs.com
