Where Kids, Pets, and Community Grow Together!

As I turn the pages of the August issue, I am reminded of just how important it is to invest in the next generation and celebrate the relationships that bring joy, connection, and purpose to our lives.

Our Kids & Pets issue shines a spotlight on two of life's greatest gifts: the children who represent our future and the pets who fill our homes with unconditional love. Together, they remind us of the importance of compassion, responsibility, play, and community.

This month, we highlight the many ways Windsor supports children, families, and the activities that help shape who we become. From education and learning to athletics, leadership, and personal development, our community is filled with opportunities that encourage young people to dream big, work hard, and discover their potential.

We also celebrate the special role that pets play in our lives. They provide companionship, comfort, and joy while teaching us valuable lessons about loyalty, patience, and care. Whether through a favorite family dog, a beloved cat, or another cherished companion, pets have a unique way of bringing people together.

As always, my hope is that this issue inspires you to support local, get involved, and appreciate the people, programs, and organizations that make Windsor such a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family.

Thank you for welcoming Windsor City Lifestyle into your home each month. We are grateful for your continued support and for being part of this incredible community.

Music Finds a Home

The Hoedown Hill Music Festival Brings Big-Name Talent to Windsor’s Backyard for Its Third Annual Run

One of the biggest and most unique events of the summer happens right in your backyard. No need to make a long drive, and for some, it’s just a walk or a golf cart ride away.

The Third Annual Hoedown Hill Music Festival, right here in Windsor, is coming September 18-19 and is packed with an allstar lineup, including The Band Perry, Dillon Carmichael, and Buckstein. Back by popular demand is a well-anticipated tribute night featuring Queen Nation and Van Zeppelin. The stage is set for an unforgettable weekend of live music, and the lower ticket prices ensure a budget-friendly experience.

The music festival launched in 2024 after the Hoedown Hill Ski and Tubing Resort opened. Promoter Mike Zapf, also the owner of the Boot Grill, approached Martin Lind with the idea, pulling from his own experience of providing music talent at the Boot Grill and the Bulls on the Beach, where acts such as Merle Haggard and Dena Carter graced the shores of Water Valley. Hoedown Hill’s first festival focused on classic rock hits and tribute acts, including The Petty Nicks Experience, The Long Run, and Asia. Topping the list was former lead vocalist of Journey, Steve Augeri.

Last year, the festival expanded significantly into a two-weekend event, splitting

its dates between dedicated Rock and Country lineups. Cold War Kids, Plain White T’s, and Third Eye Blind, to name a few, filled the bill on Rock weekend. For the Country weekend, Randy Houser, Avery Anna, Chris Lane, and Dasha were among the bands that took the stage.

Each year, a significant amount of planning goes into constructing the Hoedown Hill venue, which houses the music festival. It is literally built from the ground up, with the stage, video walls, fencing, green rooms, and portable bathrooms being brought in.

Currently, the venture is a three-way partnership between promoter Mike Zapf, Tyler Lind of Hoedown Hill, and Michael O’Brien of Peak Performances.

Mike Zapf shares that music has always been a passion of his, and although he doesn’t play, he wanted to be involved in the industry on some level. That led him to open the Boot Grill 15 years ago with a concentration on music. Over the years, they’ve had such notable acts as Morgan Wallen, Kane Brown, and Dan and Shay and continue to bring well-known talent through their doors.

Mike notes the tremendous growth of Windsor, and with the festival, he wants to provide the community with something

“It’s fun to have our

little community with those big names coming in. It’s a big venue with a personal touch.”

they can call home. He shares, “It’s fun to have our little community with those big names coming in. It’s a big venue with a personal touch. It’s fun being able to get up close and personal with artists.”

The future of the Hoedown Hill Music Festival lies in the hands of the Windsor community at large. Their support, through attendance,

promotion, and enthusiasm, helps determine where the music festival goes from here. It’s a community effort. Will you be there?

Last year, more than 10,000 people gathered to enjoy incredible music right here in their own backyard and can't wait for September!

Through Education BUILDING STRONGER FUTURES

Highlights from the Weld RE-4 Education Foundation

Weld RE-4 Education Foundation Board of Directors present a Teacher Grant Award to Mrs. Rice for the Agriculture program at Severance High School.

The Weld RE-4 Education Foundation Board of Directors and Members

The Weld RE-4 Education Foundation believes every student deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. Through strong partnerships with the Weld RE-4 School District, businesses, families, and community supporters, the Foundation works to enhance educational experiences. These collaborative efforts empower both students and teachers across the growing communities of Windsor, Severance, and west Greeley.

The Foundation's core mission is centered on providing impactful resources and innovative educational opportunities that go beyond traditional classroom funding. By strategically investing in programs that strengthen academic achievement, innovation, creativity, and support teacher excellence, the organization helps prepare local students for success in an increasingly competitive and ever-changing world.

Impact of Teacher Grants

Since 2013, the Weld RE-4 Education Foundation has invested almost $900,000 directly into classrooms through its teacher grant program. The organization actively strives to support educators by providing them with expanded resources and unique instructional tools. This past school year alone, the foundation awarded almost $65,000 for 26 teacher grants across the district.

One standout example this year is a teacher grant awarded to Mr. Swanson at Windsor Middle School for his innovative STEAM Guitar class. Funding provided essential equipment—including breadboards, capacitors, Stratocaster guitars, and audio jacks—building a lasting connection between electrical engineering and the arts.

Mr. Swanson said, “Through this Teacher Grant Award, I've learned a lot as a teacher, being able to help kids understand electrical schematics and how to translate them into a physical circuit that works.”

Another project to highlight is Severance High School’s Food Science class, where Mrs. Rice utilized a foundation grant to bring "farm-to-table" experiences to life. By funding essential tools— including a meat grinder, canning equipment, dehydrators, mixers, and a seed grinder—the grant provides an immersive, tactile learning experience. This connects students directly to the local agriculture industry while strengthening the district's Career and Technical Education (CTE) curriculum.

Ultimately, these hands-on opportunities do more than just teach— they ignite excitement and creativity that will inspire students at both Windsor Middle School and Severance High School for years to come.

Igniting Leadership & Community Service through Firestarter Student Grants

Launched in 2024, the Firestarter Student Grant program represents a powerful investment designed to inspire community service within the schools and create a positive impact among middle and high school students.

The Wizard Workshop stands out as a premier example of this initiative. This project brought fourth graders from Mountain View Elementary into Windsor High School’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) labs for an immersive day of hands-on learning, ranging from culinary arts to building planter boxes.

Reflecting on the success of the initiative, Mrs. Spaur, a teacher from Windsor High School, said, "The Foundation's support of the planter box project helped create an engaging, hands-on experience that introduced fourth graders to the many opportunities within Career and Technical Education at Windsor High School. Just as importantly, the event gave high school students the chance to share their skills, mentor younger learners, and serve as ambassadors for the district's CTE programs."

Another standout initiative is the Severance High School Robotics Club Outreach program, led by Mrs. Cornmesser. Funded by a student grant, this program purchased age-appropriate robots specifically designed for younger students to explore. Through mentorship, high schoolers guide elementary and middle school students in foundational coding and engineering. This peer-to-peer model builds a self-sustaining cycle that ensures younger generations are inspired to join the robotics team, securing the long-term longevity of the program.

WINDSOR HIGH SCHOOL UNIFIED SHOWCASE BASKETBALL GAME

Championing Inclusion:

The Legacy of Unified Sports True community excellence means ensuring every student has a place to shine. In 2019, the Weld RE-4 Education Foundation provided the critical seed money to launch Windsor Unified Sports, and its dedication to the program has never wavered.

Unified Sports is about far more than competition—it is a gateway to inclusion that extends into classrooms, friendships, and the broader community. By placing students with and without disabilities on the same team, the program creates authentic connections, mutual respect, and a positive culture. Thanks to community generosity and Foundation support, athletes receive essential needs like team uniforms, adaptable sports equipment, and letterman jackets.

Under the leadership of Coach Lori Couch, Windsor High School has cultivated a powerful program where everyone feels valued. The lasting impact was on full display at this year’s Unified Community Showcase. Numerous alumni returned to participate, standing tall with a lifelong confidence that serves as an inspiring testament to the program's legacy.

Empowering Classrooms, Strengthening Community

Beyond its core support of teacher and student grants, special projects, and scholarships, the foundation’s vital mission extends to staff appreciation, school supplies, and the family resource cabinet—proving that its commitment to community is stronger than ever. As the area grows, the Weld RE-4 Education Foundation remains deeply committed to investing in the future of students, supporting outstanding educators, and strengthening the vital connection between local schools and the surrounding community.

A Heartwarming Look at the Special, Lifelong Memories Shared Between Kids and Their Pets

Kids and Pets: The Ultimate Bond

From wagging tails and muddy paws to quiet cuddles and endless adventures, the bond between kids and their pets is something truly special. In this collection, Windsor-area families share heartwarming stories and photos that capture the love, loyalty, laughter, and lifelong memories these cherished friendships create.

Raegan with Her Dog Thea

Raegan shares an unbreakable bond with her playful puppy, Thea. Captured in their backyard, the two are already inseparable, spending every moment laughing, chasing, and exploring together. Their connection has only grown stronger over the years; still right by Raegan’s side, Thea even sneaks into the shower to be close to her. Raegan loves Thea for her constant companionship, silly personality, and unconditional love, while Thea adores Raegan as her favorite human and best friend in the world.

Reece with His Chicken Clucky McCluckerson

Reece picked out Clucky McCluckerson when she was just a tiny baby chick, and ever since, she’s been his most-loved pet. Her fluffy little feet are his absolute favorite thing about her! He loves feeding her treats, collecting her eggs, and following her around the chicken pen like they grew up together, because they basically did. There’s just something extra fun about being a kid and growing up with chickens in the backyard.

Hope with Her Dog Aggie

Hope and Aggie share a truly special bond that is full of love, comfort, and fun. Hope loves Aggie because she is fluffy, cuddly, and absolutely adorable. Aggie has such a calm and gentle personality that makes her easy to be around. One of Hope’s favorite things is that Aggie is so relaxed and patient; she lets Hope snuggle her, play with her, and be close to her all the time. Aggie never bites or even nips, which makes her the perfect companion. Their friendship is built on trust, sweetness, and lots of cozy moments together that make their connection so special.

Cooper, Baylor, and Kip with Their Dog Kya

Kya has been more than a dog to the Furrow kids. She’s been their teammate, a source of comfort, and their best friend.  They were lucky enough to get the first pick of the females in the litter, and she has fit perfectly into their home ever since. She helped Baylor overcome a serious fear of dogs, and now she is part of her confidence and comfort each day.  She sleeps with Kip, plays hide-and-seek with Cooper, shows up to cheer on the kids at their sporting events, and always has to be in the middle of living room wrestling matches and family games. Kya truly is just one of the kids!

Reign with Her Bunny Rudolph

Reign and her bunny, Rudolph, share the sweetest bond. Rudolph was a Christmas surprise from Santa in 2023, which is how he got his festive name. As Rudolph’s main caretaker, Reign embraces the responsibility with pure joy, patience, and so much love. From feeding him and keeping his space clean to snuggling him close after a long day, she enjoys every part of caring for him. Rudolph lights up the moment Reign walks into his room and hops to her instantly. Through this sweet companionship, Reign’s nurturing spirit shines brightly, making it clear just how deeply she adores her floppy-eared best friend.

Finley with Her Dog Kona

Kona was still a puppy when Finley came home, and they’ve been figuring this whole life thing out side by side ever since. Kona somehow had the patience for all the grabbing, squeezing, and curious little hands, never once pulling away. What started as a puppy and a baby turned into something steady and real. Now every night, Kona lays in Finley’s doorway, keeping watch. It’s just what she does. Not just a dog, but Finley’s quiet protector and best friend.

Camden and Brynlee with Their Dogs Teagan and Liberty

Brynlee and Camden share a beautiful bond with their dogs, Teagan and Liberty. Teagan, the old dog, brings comfort, wisdom, and gentle companionship to every day. Liberty, the playful young pup, fills the house with energy, excitement, and laughter with her quirkiness. Together, the dogs teach Brynlee and Camden about love, patience, kindness, and responsibility. Whether they are cuddling, running in the yard, or taking walks together, their friendship grows stronger every day. Teagan and Liberty are more than pets to Brynlee and Camden. They are loyal friends, cherished family members, and constant sources of happiness for them.

Claire, the Big Sister with Her Dog Norman, the Eldest Pup

A couple members of the family have four legs and muddy paws, while the others fill the home with laughter, imagination, and endless love. Oldest daughter Claire and senior doodle Norman take center stage, but little sister Ellington and newest pup Walter are right by their side. These four-legged shadows fill the home with muddy paws, endless laughter, and backyard adventures. Watching both girls grow up alongside Norman and Walter is a joy the family will cherish forever. From giggles to late-night snuggles, these four sweet souls bring the chaos and unconditional love that make home complete.

Charlie and Maddie with their Dog Bailey

They call Bailey their “perma-puppy” because she’s always been so playful and fun, even in her older age. Charlie and Maddie love Bailey’s soft ears and the way she follows them from room to room to be near them. Bailey has been by their side through so many stages of life over the past 10 years, from bringing babies home to backyard hangs to lying in the grass. The family is so grateful for the unconditional love she gives and the special bond they share. She truly is a treasured member of the family.

Behind every packed bag is a team with a massive heart. Here, four of WOW's five board members welcome campers to Camp Pack-A-Pack.

Pack-A-Pack: Beyond Backpacks

When a Backpack Becomes a Symbol of Hope and Connection

ARTICLE BY CANDICE REDMAN | PHOTOGRAPHY BY MO’S PHOTOS - MALEA OROZCO

Packed for a student, by a student. This mother-daughter duo make a big impact at WOW’s annual Pack-A-Pack event.

WOW's Board Member Dani Vanderpool

smiles big as she helps youth volunteers carefully pack new backpacks for NOCO students in need.

For many children, a backpack is simply a back-to-school item. But for some students, it represents something much deeper: dignity, belonging, support, and hope.

At Walk Our Way (WOW), the Pack-A-Pack initiative was created with the belief that every child deserves to walk into school feeling prepared, valued, and seen. Through this community-driven program, the organization provides brand-new backpacks filled with essential school supplies for students in need throughout Northern Colorado. What makes this initiative especially meaningful is that each pack is filled and personalized by one student for another.

This program is about far more than notebooks and pencils; it is about connection. Many underprivileged youth face challenges most people never see. According to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and the Polaris Project, children experiencing poverty, housing instability, neglect, a lack of support systems, or unmet basic needs are at significantly higher risk for exploitation and trafficking. Traffickers often target vulnerable youth who are searching for comfort, safety, food, shelter, acceptance, or someone who simply makes them feel cared for.

That reality is heartbreaking, but it is also exactly why prevention matters.

From Camp Pack-A-Pack to Weld RE-4! Packed by a student, for a student and delivered with love.

WOW believes that prevention starts long before crisis intervention. It starts with community and making children feel supported before they become vulnerable to someone with harmful intentions. Something as simple as a backpack may not change a child’s entire life overnight, but it reminds them that they matter, that someone thought about them, and that they are not invisible.

Northern Colorado students volunteer at "Camp Pack-A-Pack” at the end of the summer, learning empathy, leadership, and the importance of giving back as they personally pack each bag. The goal is to help them understand that not every child starts the school year with the same resources, and that even small acts of kindness can create ripple effects.

At Walk Our Way, who they are is defined by a shared dedication to children and adolescents. They empower youth by providing positive extracurricular activities and experiences to guide them toward safe, healthy, and fulfilling paths, ultimately helping to end the cycle of child sexual exploitation and trafficking. This profound mission is fueled by the relentless hard work, passion, and vision of WOW's board members, who pour their hearts into ensuring children grow up feeling safe, empowered, supported, and worthy of opportunity.

Every year, the goal is to reach more students, involve more youth volunteers, and continue building a culture where children look out for one another, proving that kindness can truly change the direction of their story. Because when a child feels seen, supported, and connected to their community, we reduce vulnerability and create hope.

How ABC Child Development Center Combines Play-Based Learning with Family Support and Community Connection

PLAY THAT SHAPES FUTURES

A small hand tightens around a parent’s finger before finally letting go. Across the room, children gather around colorful blocks while a teacher kneels beside them, inviting conversation and laughter. For many families, the first day of childcare comes with nerves, questions and a little uncertainty. At ABC Child Development Center, staff members hope that feeling doesn’t last long.

For parents, finding trustworthy childcare can feel overwhelming. Discovering a place that is not only focused on watching children but helping them learn new skills and build confidence for the future is exactly what ABC strives to provide.

Their goal goes beyond supervision; they aim to create an environment of support, security and growth that helps future generations succeed.

ABC Child Development Center is a high-quality childcare center with multiple locations across Northern Colorado. As a multigenerational organization, they focus on supporting their community not only inside the classroom but outside of it as well.

ABC has built a strong reputation through playbased learning, helping children develop foundational skills in reading, writing and mathematics that support future educational success.

Throughout the day, children strengthen social skills through games, group activities, recess and free time. Well-trained staff members help guide those interactions and create opportunities for growth.

Lacey Rubick, Director of Corporate Support, said, “We believe in teacher-child interactions; it’s really important. Children need that socialization piece and to feel comfortable.”

Activities throughout the center are designed to build skills that support future learning, including cause and effect, coordination and logical thinking. During playtime, children are not simply entertaining themselves. A tower of blocks becomes an early lesson in counting and problem solving while songs become opportunities for movement, memory and communication.

“I think the most important part within early childhood is social-emotional learning,” explained Rubick. “If children don’t know how to be in a group setting with others while building trust, they’re not able to start learning in the first place.”

Teachers move throughout the room, guiding conversations and encouraging curiosity in a safe and trusting environment. A child stacking blocks may be asked how many pieces are left or what shape could make the tower stronger. Nearby, another group follows music through claps and hand motions while practicing listening and memory skills. What appears to be ordinary play quickly becomes opportunities to build confidence, communication and early educational foundations. Painting projects are not only creative outlets but opportunities for children to recognize colors, connect ideas and express how they interpret the world around them.

These learning experiences are paired with laughter filling the room and friendships forming naturally.

“Our biggest philosophy is that they learn through play. That’s why our room is set up for different learning environments.”

CONTINUED >

“Our biggest philosophy is that they learn through play. That’s why our room is set up for different learning environments.”
Smiles, friendships, and memories made every day!
Big dreams begin with little steps.
“We have generations after generations bringing their kids. That just shows how big we are in the community and we continue to grow with it.”
Building strong relationships start with love, laughter, and a good book.

There is intention behind every activity, creating a fun and engaging environment that helps children feel more prepared when transitioning into kindergarten and later grade levels. They are now more capable of communicating their feelings and have success in the education system early on.

Behind those daily classroom moments is an intentional effort to maintain quality and consistency.

ABC has been awarded a Level 5 rating through Colorado Shines, a quality rating and improvement system for childcare programs.

Areas of evaluation include safety, learning environments, professional development, family partnerships and continuous improvement.

Receiving the highest rating level reflects ABC’s continued investment in quality services and education. Parents may not see every assessment, training session or quality benchmark happening behind the scenes, but they often notice the results — children entering confidently, routines becoming easier and families feeling comfortable asking questions. Those everyday moments are where long-term quality becomes visible. Creating a safe and consistent support system is important to building a strong foundation for developing children. Staff members continue to participate in training and coaching opportunities to strengthen their work and grow alongside changing needs.

As a multigenerational family-owned business, ABC believes those relationships extend beyond childcare.

Accessing childcare can be difficult for many families due to cost, availability and changing community needs. Maintaining consistency while navigating those challenges is something ABC continues to prioritize.

“What sets us apart is focusing on quality,” Rubick said. “We want to continue investing in that and show families everything we’ve earned.”

Supporting the community remains central to the organization’s mission. Resources are provided when families are in need, and scholarship opportunities have helped some families gain access to childcare services. ABC believes every family deserves a strong support system.

“If a parent is struggling, even with finding a doctor, we are there to help them,” Rubick said.

“Calling United Way with them if they don't feel comfortable and reaching out to caseworkers who can help. That’s really big for us.”

Partnerships with organizations such as Greeley Family House have helped connect families with additional resources and support during times of need.

Rubick said, “A lot of parents could be struggling, especially new parents. They don’t know where to go. They don’t know where to turn. It’s hard to be a new parent and we get that.”

Many of the resources provided are made available to all families. Rather than waiting for parents to ask for help, ABC tries to reduce that hesitation by making support accessible from the beginning.

“People can just use what they want, but at least they have the resources,” Rubick said.

Though ABC Child Development Center has continued to grow over the years, leadership says their focus remains on growing internally rather than expanding into new regions. Building relationships continues to be the foundation of their success.

Being part of the community for so long has given them a strong understanding of how to best support local families. That experience now guides their ongoing efforts to strengthen connections with school district boards and other childcare organizations.

“We have generations after generations bringing their kids. That just shows how big we are in the community and we continue to grow with it.”

Children who once spent their early years at ABC are now returning as parents themselves. What once started as a place for learning has become a relationship that continues across generations.

An anxious child walking through the door for the first time may quickly settle into the environment around them. Children are encouraged to learn, explore and grow in a space designed to support each stage of development.

Every day at ABC Child Development Center, lessons extend beyond letters and numbers.

Through play, relationships and support, children build confidence, curiosity and resilience that reach far beyond the classroom.

For ABC, that work extends to families as well.

“We are child care, but we are here for them too,” said Rubick. “We just want everyone and every child to succeed, because they are our future.”

The Secrets to Beautiful, Functional Living Spaces

Life happens… muddy paws, sticky fingers, spills, and all. Designing spaces for kids and pets requires a balance of durability, comfort, and functionality. Materials should be selected to withstand everyday wear while remaining sleek and attractive. Durable flooring, stain-resistant fabrics, removable slip covers, and washable surfaces help create clean and practical environments.

When choosing durable flooring, luxury vinyl plank (LVP) and modern laminate are great options. LVP mimics the look of hardwood floors and is engineered for high-traffic, active

households. Modern laminate has evolved far beyond older iterations. Traditional laminate can swell if exposed to water, though many modern options are water-resistant and feature an Abrasion Class (AC) rating to guarantee their resilience. When taking a look at laminate, look for an AC4 or AC5 rating to best fit your needs with kids and pets.

When selecting stain-resistant fabrics, Crypton fabrics are a great option. Crypton is a highly durable textile that is stain, spill, bacteria, and odor resistant. Unlike typical fabrics, each individual fiber is treated in an immersion bath and heat process, creating a durable material used heavily in mixed-use and high-traffic areas. Machine-washable slip covers are also a practical choice, allowing for easy removal.

When choosing material finishes for surfaces, maintenance is always something to keep in mind. Marble, although a popular choice, is a finish that is likely to stain. Granite and quartzite are optimal choices as they are heat-resistant, scratch and stain-proof. Easy-towipe surfaces are a must when it comes to maintaining a clean and healthy environment for your family.

Zone the chaos. You don’t have to sacrifice style in your home just because of messy pets. Tackle it all by incorporating a dedicated pet washing station near an entry or mudroom. Contain the dirt and debris, keeping the rest of the home clean.

Thoughtful material selection and resilient finishes allow the space to support both playful activity and everyday living while maintaining a healthy and clean home. If you’ve been dreaming of achieving the perfect balance between style and functionality for your busy family, Illusions Complete Home Solutions would love to connect and bring your design vision to life.

Pinning Down Success

How Girls Wrestling Is Empowering Young Athletes On and Off the Mat

Girls wrestling is one of the fastest-growing sports in America, and the Windsor Middle School Girls Wrestling Team is helping fuel that momentum. Under the leadership of Coaches Kevin Ramsay and Dave Vondy, young athletes are discovering that wrestling offers far more than competition: it builds confidence, character, and life skills that extend well beyond the mat.

As opportunities for girls wrestling continue to expand, more young women are embracing the sport and the challenges it presents. According to the coaches, wrestling teaches resilience, accountability, leadership, and self-confidence. Athletes learn to overcome obstacles, set goals, and persevere through adversity: valuable lessons that benefit them in school, future careers, and everyday life. The sport also creates new pathways for female athletes, with more colleges and universities offering wrestling programs and scholarship opportunities.

Ramsay and Vondy also lead Windsor Wrestling Academy, where wrestlers of all ages and experience levels are welcome. Whether an athlete is stepping onto the mat for the first time or competing at the state or national level, the mission remains the same: helping each individual improve

while developing strong character and work ethic. Through quality instruction, athletes are encouraged to challenge themselves, support their teammates, and reach their full potential.

For the coaches, one of the most rewarding aspects of the sport is watching young wrestlers grow in confidence. Many begin their journey unsure of their abilities but evolve into leaders, mentors, and successful competitors. Just as important are the friendships and sense of community built along the way. The program emphasizes a family-oriented culture where every athlete feels supported, valued, and motivated to succeed.

Looking ahead, Ramsay and Vondy hope to continue expanding opportunities for both boys and girls wrestling throughout Windsor. Their vision is to increase participation, develop future leaders, and build upon the community’s tradition of excellence.

For the latest wrestling opportunities, visit the Windsor Wrestling Academy Facebook page or contact Coaches Kevin Ramsay, Dave Vondy, Katie Prach, or Bethany Man. Free practices are held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00–6:30 p.m. in the Windsor High School Wrestling Room.

How Fritzler Farm Park Grows Family Traditions One Season at a Time

Reconnect by Disconnecting

Every fall, families return to Fritzler Farm Park to continue traditions years in the making. Parents who once explored the corn maze as children now bring their own kids. Friends gather to laugh, play, and reconnect. For a few hours, visitors trade busy schedules and screens for fresh air, adventure, and time together.

That sense of connection is exactly what Owner Trevor Fritzler hopes guests experience.

“Our mission is to immerse yourself in our world to escape yours, and reconnect with each other and the land by disconnecting,” Trevor says.

While Fritzler Farm Park has become one of Colorado’s favorite fall destinations, its roots began with something much simpler: survival.

Trevor grew up farming alongside his father, Glen Fritzler. As fourth-generation farmers, the Fritzler family understood the uncertainty of depending on the land. Devastating hailstorms could wipe out crops and threaten the family’s livelihood.

“When weather is your biggest enemy and the bank won’t pull through, you learn how to endure adversity,” Trevor says.

Everything changed in 2000 when Glen agreed to try something new: a corn maze. The idea, suggested by a cousin, seemed unlikely at first but quickly became a hit. A haunted attraction soon followed, laying the groundwork for what would eventually become Fritzler Farm Park.

What started as a creative solution has grown into a place where families connect and create memories that last long after the season ends.

Rooted in Gratitude

Agriculture remains at the heart of the park, but Trevor believes its greatest impact lies in agritourism experiences. In his book, Gratitude Equals Power, he shares the belief that gratitude—not entitlement—creates lasting success.

Guests can look forward to 'foodertainment' with themed food trucks and yummy bites at Fritzler Farm Park.

“Teach gratitude. Show gratitude,” Trevor says.

That philosophy extends beyond relatives. Trevor often says, “Family is the people you choose,” a belief reflected in both the park’s culture and the way guests are welcomed.

As Fritzler's continues to grow, Trevor remains focused on creating experiences that bring people together. He often reflects on the resilience of previous generations who endured the Dust Bowl, Great Depression, world wars, and unpredictable weather.

“Our toughest day on the farm was probably my grandfather’s easiest day,” he says.

The Greatest Harvest

That perspective continues to inspire new attractions and experiences. Guests can look forward to Foodertainment, featuring themed food trucks and whimsical characters, along with a 5-D roller coaster, carnival-style performances, a general store filled with local treasures, and the terrifying expansion of Scream Acres.

Yet for Trevor, the attractions are only part of the story.

Visitors may arrive for the thrills and entertainment, but he hopes they leave with something deeper: stronger connections, cherished memories, and a renewed appreciation for time spent together. After all, the greatest harvest at Fritzler Farm Park isn’t grown in the fields; it’s found in the moments families share.

TREY & KATIE KENNEDY

ON MARRIAGE, KIDS, AND THE COMEDY OF REAL LIFE

Trey Kennedy makes a living finding comedy in regular life. Marriage. Toddlers. Yoga pants. The Thursday-night scramble between school dropoffs, soccer practice, and whatever has to be done by morning. Twelve years in, it shows: millions of followers across every platform, three stand-up specials, a sold-out Relatable Tour, and a style of humor fans send each other captioned, “Are you watching me?” He delivers the kind of comedy that travels because everyone’s living some version of it.

Katie, his wife of six years, is a former biomedical engineer who also built a modeling career. She’s now raising their kids and co-hosting Correct Opinions alongside Trey — the show where the two of them swap takes on marriage, parenting, and whatever came up that week.

Trey has been at this longer than people realize. An Edmond, Oklahoma kid who grew up playing basketball described himself as a “shy kid who never thought he’d be an entertainer.” He started making videos while attending Oklahoma State University. After building millions of followers on Vine before the platform shut down, he gave himself six months on Instagram and Facebook to see whether he could rebuild from zero. He did. Stand-up soon followed. His first special, Are You For Real?, streams on YouTube; the second, Grow Up, on Amazon Prime; the third, built around the Relatable Tour, wrapped earlier this year. “I’ve been trying to be funny every week for like twelve years now,” he says. A slow climb, made one bit at a time.

“I’ve been trying to be funny every week for like twelve years now.”

Most of what Trey writes lately starts in his own kitchen. Thomas is three and a half, and he is, in his father’s words, “a movie.” He narrates his own life from the moment his eyes open and mispronounces words in ways his parents now repeat to each other because no one else would believe them. His younger sister, Eva, is what Katie calls “the calm one.” With a third now in the mix, the Kennedys are officially outnumbered.

After six years of marriage, Trey and Katie have learned that the partnership runs best when it gets its own time on the calendar. So once a week, they leave the kids with a sitter and go out for coffee. “You need a system,” Katie says. “It’s about taking time to look each other in the eye. Not the kids. Not the cameras. Just each other.”

The same instinct shapes the work. Most of Trey’s trial and error happens onstage or on Instagram, but the first read is always Katie’s. “There’s only been one time ever I’ve had to be like, ‘you’re not doing that,’” she says. The rest of the time, she just laughs first.

Trey and Katie talk about marriage, parenting, and the moments that don’t make the Instagram feed.
