Let’s Go!
April 2022 PUBLISHER
Amanda Waterfield amanda.waterfield@citylifestyle.com EDITOR
Spring symbolizes new beginnings. Nature reveals its beauty through budding trees and flowers, and the warming air invites us to spend more time outdoors. As we trade the snowblowers for lawnmowers and prepare our gardens and flowerbeds, the earth awakens, and with it, the desire to explore it. And for those of us without a green thumb (like yours truly), the local farmers' markets are gearing up for a busy season. In this area, we are lucky to have many diverse spots to explore, whether it is a new restaurant with a great patio to enjoy with friends and family or a hiking trail to take in nature and the surrounding scenery—there is something for everyone. We would love to hear from you about your favorite hidden gems in town and your go-to travel destinations, so drop us line or share it with us on Facebook or Instagram. Here's to a happy spring full of adventure and peace and sunshine.

Hannoush Jewelers is Making it Personal CUSTOM JEWELRY FOR MOTHER’S DAY
ARTICLE BY AMANDA WATERFIELD PHOTOGRAPHY BY MICHAEL EPAUL
When it comes to giving a gift that is personal, meaningful, and lasting, few things compare to a custom-designed piece of jewelry. Mother’s Day is the perfect time to honor the mom in your life with a piece that is as unique and special as she is. Hannoush Jewelers at the Holyoke Mall has been designing custom mothers’ pieces for more than 40 years. What makes each piece unique is the combination of gemstones, metal, and design, according to owner Rita Hannoush. Most people are drawn to rings, but it is also possible to design a pendant or other piece. Whether your gift is for a first-time mother or a memorial piece, there is a design option for every taste – from traditional to contemporary.

An assortment of mothers' pieces
The design process begins with a consultation at the store. Upon selecting a style, stones, and metal choice, the customer’s unique design elements are sent out for production. Each piece is casted from a wax mold in a one-off process, which ensures its uniqueness. “It takes four to six weeks to complete the process from design concept to finished piece,” says Rita. For Mother’s Day 2022, customers should plan to schedule a consultation early in April. Manufacturing is done locally in an offsite facility. “We use precious and semi-precious jewels to represent the birthstones for each month,” according
to Rita. Families may choose to represent children, stepchildren, entire families, or any loved one in the piece, with anywhere from one to eight unique stones representing a family grouping. Silver, yellow gold, white gold, and rose gold, as well as platinum are the options available for the settings. Although many people think of Hannoush Jewelers as their local source for Tacori engagement rings, Pandora jewelry, and pre-owned Rolexes, the shop has been in the business of creating custom pieces for more than 40 years, and most of the original Hannoush Brothers molds are still in use today.

Father-daughter duo helps clients explore all their financial possibilities
Kate and Jim have a great dynamic that serves their clients well
TRAILHEAD FINANCIAL: G U I D I N G C L I E N T S O N A F I N A N C I A L PAT H ARTICLE BY TINA LESNIAK | PHOTOGRAPHY BY KAREN SLACK A family business through and through, the fatherdaughter team at Trailhead Financial prides itself on helping its clients explore their financial possibilities. Jim Zien and Kate Zien established their company in 2018 as an intergenerational business that enjoys working with families and helping them to achieve their fiscal goals. Growing up, Kate always knew that joining her father as a financial advisor was an option. Her dad would tell her, “If you’re interested, it’s always there.” During her junior year of college, Kate came to the conclusion that working with her dad was “too good of an opportunity” to refuse, and decided to focus on economics. Jim explains that a financial advising company that has this sort of parent-child team is a “very rare thing. You have to find a pretty good fit. I’ve hired 50, 60, 70 people and Kate’s been my best hire. That’s a good relationship to have.”
Jim began in the business in 1980 and worked for a variety of companies before starting Trailhead Financial, a company name that reflects what Jim and Kate both hope to help their clients accomplish. “It’s a good representation of the type of people we are. A trailhead takes you to a path and that whole connection was really appropriate,” explains Kate. She adds that investment management and financial planning really involve listening to the customers, hearing about where they want to go, and then getting them to that spot. An affable team, Jim and Kate alternate appointments so clients can establish relationships with both advisors. They see many families where the parents started as their clients, and now their children are coming in to start achieving their own goals. Because many of their clients have been with them for some time, Kate says there’s a “built-in level of trust.”
A love of the outdoors pervades the Trailhead offices in Agawam. Natural decorative materials, paper lamps constructed by Cindy Zien (Jim’s wife and Kate’s mom), and a floor-to-ceiling mural of the woods provide a sense of the calm, warm, outdoors-loving pair who pour themselves into the business.

CHARGED FOR ADVENTURE DEAN MOKE AMERICA OF WEST SPRINGFIELD OFFERING ALL-ELECTRIC VEHICLES
The Rindels family: Lori, Dena, Randy, Erica, and Chelsea
English car manufacturer Moke is making its foray into New England through an unlikely partnership with West Springfield automotive dealer Dean Auto Sales. “Funny enough, it started with my dad just coming across them online one day,” states Erica Rindels, daughter of owner Randy Rindels. “It was a chance for us to expand in a new and unique market. These vehicles hit high levels of popularity when the Kardashians bought a fleet of them last Christmas.”

An interior view
The team at Dean Moke America at the new location on Memorial Drive
Randy’s father, Roger, formed Dean Auto Sales nearly 40 years ago, just up Memorial Avenue from its new current location. “Our grandfather and uncle started the business back in November of 1983, and it has stayed in the family ever since. One day, it will be passed down to us,” stated Dena Rindels, sister of Erica. “The growth of the dealership is also what allowed us to venture into the new car market with Moke. We’ve already sold two this week (at time of print) and delivered one today.” So what, exactly, is a Moke? Mokes made their first appearance during World War II, as an English iteration of the Willys Jeep. The intended purpose of the Moke was to be a lightweight mobile troop and equipment transport that could be airdropped to advancing troops. Due to poor conditions on the battlefield, it didn’t succeed in that role. Since being introduced to the states six years ago as an all-electric vehicle, it has taken on a new purpose. Erica shares, “It’s a perfect beach town/vacation vehicle. The two largest markets these have sold to are vineyard owners and beach town property owners. Most beach towns have low posted speed limits, so with the top speed being 30, the Moke fits the beach vibe. You may even use it to drive on the beaches, being a light maneuverable vehicle.” Some may even remember James Bond (Roger Moore) in the film Live and Let Die, driving a Moke through the streets of the fictional island of San Monique. As a nod to the British secret agent, Moke has produced a limited edition “007 San Monique”. Erica shares the myriad benefits of the unique vehicle: “Moke offers a wide variety of customization. That’s one of the factors that sets it apart from other luxury leisure vehicles, [along with] thirteen different body colors, customizable bumper color, upgradeable rim packages, wooden steering wheel, high performance add-ons, and much more. The best part is that everything is made in Sarasota, Florida - 100% American made.” For those still looking for high end pre-owned vehicles, have no fear; those aren’t going anywhere. “Dad’s bread and butter is the Corvette. He loves Corvettes. We’ll still have Corvettes and plenty of other luxury cars passing through here,” states Erica. “Our aim date to opening the new showroom (across from the Eastern States Exposition Gate 9 entrance) is the beginning of June.” Take a drive to Dean Moke America’s showroom at 874 Memorial Avenue, West Springfield, MA to view their inventory or call 413.733.7112 or visit DeanMokeAmerica. com for more information.
Moke vehicles are street-legal all-electric automobiles that lend themselves to fun adventure. Visit Dean Moke America at their new location on Memorial Ave. in West Springfield.

Many of us are searching for techniques to assist with living a healthier, more balanced lifestyle. Clinical hypnosis may be the answer. It opens the mind-body connection, bringing one into a state of relaxation, becoming more receptive to positive influences and constructive habit building. This optimized mind-body connection facilitates all types of healing, including internal emotional strains that impede weight loss.

Cristina Di Nardo-Dupre, MSW, LICSW, is an experienced clinical hypnotist. Using her knowledge of the human mind and the process of hypnosis, Cristina has the ability to help guide people (and their minds) into making healthier lifestyle choices. Hypnosis can be used to aid weight loss, smoking cessation, and even anxiety management, and can be completed by only a doctor or licensed clinician who has had years of training. When the body connects to the mind, the mind is able to retain the positive information, and from there the mind releases the positive habits to the physical body. Cristina shares, “When I first started working, I was very stressed, and I wanted to help people so much. I needed to learn how to relax, and that’s when I learned hypnosis. It’s been over 20 years ago, and it’s been amazing for me.” Cristina’s clients learn all the ins and outs of a simple, straightforward, and most of all completely manageable meal plan. The magic, however, isn’t just in the food eaten or the exercises performed, but the habits participants change. Gone are the days of licking your plate clean or eating your child’s left over tidbits. In a relaxed hypnotic state, the mind retains positive information and skills, and throughout the day, the mind feeds the body with the positive habits built. Cristina sets participants up for success on day one. Treatment sessions are individualized for each client, and by two weeks, clothes are fitting better. With her book (The Best You through Hypnosis) to reference and a recording of a personalized visit to listen to daily, by the last session, clients are able to politely refuse the foods that would ordinarily sabotage their progress. Cravings are eliminated, and previous negative mannerisms are replaced with positive healthier habits. The program encompasses healthier eating habits, clinical hypnosis, cognitive behavioral therapies, and the exclusive Six Incentives for a well-rounded, no-fail program focusing on a mindbody connection to facilitate self-care. Long term weight loss is achievable when the mind and body work as one, and you have the support and guidance of Cristina Di Nardo-Dupre.

Visit Music City
Getaway to Nashville
and ‘Write Your Own Music City Story’
Write your own music story. That’s exactly what the chefs, artists, historians, musicians and impassioned locals of Nashville want visitors to do as they dive into this culturally diverse and oh-so-friendly city. Our team of local lifestyle fanatics at City Lifestyle are thrilled to collaborate with Visit Music City to present a customized visitor’s guide and exclusive GIVEAWAY* to this city rich in experiences that only Nashville can give. As the largest city in Tennessee, Nashville boasts an impressive array of destinations, including luxurious hotels such as the Sheraton Grand in the heart of downtown, the centuries-old landmark and winery, Belle Meade Historic Site & Winery, and Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery, which carries an incredible story of origination and bottles a remarkable 1860 family recipe that made Tennessee Whiskey world famous. Three things Nashville is known for are Hot Chicken, Barbecue, and Meat & Three Restaurants. Plus, Nashville has amassed a lot of attention over the last 10 years for its exquisite food scene, with several James Beard award-winning chefs and an incredible independent restaurant scene. For the art lovers at heart, Nashville’s ever-growing arts scene is as diverse and approachable as its music scene. Music history venues such as the new National Museum of African American Music will complement your old favorite Frist Art Museum, Cheekwood Estate & Gardens, and Grand Ole Opry experiences. Last but not least is the Music Scene. Spend one night on Broadway hopping bar to bar, sit orchestra-side at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center, tour and take in a show at the 130-year old Ryman Auditorium, then experience a songwriter’s night at The Bluebird or The Listening Room Cafe.

There and Back Again DAY TRIPS TO FEED THE BODY AND MIND
Sometimes a change of scenery is best enjoyed when you don’t have to pack a bag. Day trips are quick, affordable, and a great way to break out of the daily routine. Here are some favorite fast getaways that are close enough to let you sleep in your own bed. Be sure to confirm hours of operation, as some attractions may still be under Covid restrictions. 1. Brattleboro and Putney Vermont Area: A quick trip up Route 91 will take you to Brattleboro, a quirky riverfront town just over the border. Check out the food co-op, Whetstone Station Brewery Taproom Brewpub and Biergarten, Grafton Village Cheese Center, and Retreat Farm. In Putney, stop in at Robert Burch Glass, where you can watch the artist at work in his studio. 2. Connecticut Wine Trail: More than 25 wineries make up the Connecticut Wine Trail. Pack a picnic, designate your driver, and set out to explore dozens of varietals. Bonus: Litchfield County has eight chocolate makers and a bourbon distillery! CtVisit.com/Trail/Wine 3. Stockbridge, MA: Head west on the Mass Pike to Exit 10 and you will find Naumkeag, the Norman Rockwell Museum, The Mount (home of Edith Wharton), and the Berkshire Botanical Gardens, among many other points of interest. Other ideas: Bird watching and beaches at Plum Island, MA; Deep sea fishing or water sports in Niantic, CT; hiking Mt. Monadnock in Jaffrey, NH; Essex Steam Train and Riverboat in Essex, CT.
