Investment

We often hear about the importance of investing—putting money into stocks, real estate, or businesses in hopes of a return. While these are valuable pursuits, there is one investment that never fails, never loses value, and always brings returns far greater than what was given: investing in others.

Scripture reminds us of this truth in Proverbs 11:25: “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” When we pour into others, we create lasting impact—not just for them, but also for ourselves.

Investing in people is one of the most meaningful ways to make a difference. When you mentor a young professional, you help shape a future leader. When you support a struggling local business, you keep dreams alive and strengthen our economy. When you take time to uplift a neighbor, you reinforce the very foundation of our community. These investments don’t just add value to individual lives—they ripple outward, creating a culture of generosity, deeper connection, and shared success.

Unlike money, which can be lost or depleted, the impact of investing in others only multiplies over time. A single act of kindness or encouragement can ignite a ripple effect, inspiring growth and transformation for generations to come. Galatians 6:9 encourages us: “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” The rewards of investing in others may not always be immediate, but they are always worth it.

So, I challenge you to rethink what true investment means. Where can you offer your time, wisdom, or support? How can you contribute to the success and well-being of those around you?

Together, let’s build on the legacy of generosity that Fort Worth is known for and continue to build a community where the most valuable assets are the people we invest in every day.

A FORT WORTH HAIR SALON IS REDEFINING THE INDUSTRY STANDARD

On Fairmount Avenue, nestled within the vibrant Fort Worth cultural district, is Maven Fort Worth Hair Co., an art deco duplexturned-salon catering to a growing list of the city’s rising power players. Wunderkind hairstylist Whitney Kilpatrick founded Maven to reinvent salon culture and resolve industry pitfalls she experienced firsthand. Her innovative business model relies on stylists’ collaboration to deliver top-notch service. At Maven, the salon operates as a team with shared values and goals, and every team’s success depends on the support of its captain. Whitney takes that

position seriously, promoting her staff’s skill development, mental well-being, and education from the front.

“It’s all about leadership, right?’” Whitney says. “Maven means ‘expert,’ and education is a big part of our client relationships. Our stylists develop hair care routines, explain each step, manage problem areas, and hype clients up throughout.”

That last part matters the most to Whitney, who values character over technical ability during the hiring process.

“I can teach someone about hair,” she explains. “Humans need to feel seen, heard, and valued, so I put that in our mission statement and regularly revisit the salon’s core values with stylists.”

Stylists at Maven also hone their skills through weekly performance reviews, quarterly one-onones, and intentional career development to advance their careers.

Whitney acknowledges that her rigorous training and all-for-one ideology are not for everyone; truthfully, it’s a fact she embraces, but the salon’s impressive growth speaks for itself.

After a mere two years, Maven surpassed $1 million in revenue and boasts 20 stylists, with another location planned for 2026.

“I wanted to share my success with other hair stylists, specifically women,” Whitney explains. “I started teaching my methods to other businesses and launched an e-commerce platform.”

The platform has two parts. Shop Maven features curated accessories and the salon’s hair and skin care favorites. Maven University provides education and consulting services for salon owners looking to modernize their businesses and foster healthier workplace environments.

“I’m fully living my purpose and passion,” she says. “And I know how rare that is.”

Although, Whitney wasn’t always so self-assured. Despite securing a cosmetology license at just 17 years old and gaining employment at a prestigious local salon after graduating high school, she could not fully commit to the beauty industry.

“I had a lot of naysayers around me,” she remembers. “I thought I needed college to be successful.”

However, it was a notion she quickly abandoned after learning she outearned her business professor.

That’s not to say Whitney isn’t continuing her education. Maven sends stylists to an international academy every year thanks to its partnership with an Italian color line.

“One year, we went to Rome, then Barcelona,” Whitney says. “This year we’re going to London.

Overseas, Whitney learned about toxic ingredients and the potentially harmful consequences for clients and staff.

“The FDA bans about 50 ingredients, while the EU bans around 1,300,” she says. “We want to protect not just our clients but also our team, who handle these products daily.”

The salon exclusively carries products manufactured in the European Union, where stricter ingredient regulations ensure the highest safety and quality standards.

Maven also educates clients on proper hair care between salon visits. Every new client receives a welcome gift, including a Hair Care 101 card outlining essential hair health tips.

One of the biggest mistakes Whitney sees is improper shampooing.

“You should only shampoo your roots and condition from mid-lengths to ends,” she says. “Shampooing your ends dries them out, and putting conditioner on your scalp makes it greasy.”

A color-safe shampoo is essential for those with color-treated hair, and a deep conditioning mask once a week will combat sun damage and environmental pollutants that cause fading.

Clients should also be wary of heat styling.

“Your hair cuticle is like shingles on a roof,” Whitney explains. “A fatty acid layer holds the shingles together.

That layer has a boiling point of 320 degrees. If you use hot tools above that temperature without a heat protectant, you’re literally boiling your hair.”

Beyond topical care, Maven educates clients on the role of nutrition in hair health.

“Your hair grows from the inside out, so what you eat is crucial,” says Whitney. “A diet rich in fatty acids, vitamins, and whole foods will have a bigger impact than any product.”

Whitney says basic hair care maintenance between salon visits can significantly prolong the life of a cut, reducing unsightly damage like flyaways, frizz, and fading. She recommends scheduling an appointment every 8-10 weeks.

Maven offers a Hair Savings Account (HSA) membership for clients looking to simplify their beauty budget.

“It’s ‘girl math’ at its finest,” Whitney laughs.

Members make monthly or bi-weekly deposits into their account for a credit towards future services. They also receive free birthday haircuts, discounted blowouts, and retail product discounts.

Conveniences like the HSA are all part of Maven’s commitment to the client experience, setting a new industry standard. Whether you need tips for hair care, a salon that values integrity, or an empowering beauty community, you’ve come to the right place. Because at Maven, good hair is just the beginning.

“Your hair grows from the inside out, so what you eat is crucial. A diet rich in fatty acids, vitamins, and whole foods will have a bigger impact than any product.”

FAITH, FAMILY, AND FUTURE

Tucked away on the scenic shores of Benbrook Lake, Southwest Christian School has been cultivating young minds and hearts since its founding in 1969. What began as a grassroots initiative by a group of dedicated mothers at West Berry Church of Christ has grown into the region's largest non-denominational Christian private school, boasting two campuses on 90 acres and over

How Southwest Christian School Shapes Tomorrow’s Leaders
“We are a Christ-centered college preparatory school that graduates young adults equipped as Christian leaders into the world.”

1,000 students. Despite its size, the school maintains an intimate, community-focused environment where faith and academic excellence go hand in hand.

"The school has reaffirmed its mission repeatedly throughout its history," says Brian Johnson, Head of School at SCS. "We are a Christ-centered college preparatory school that graduates young adults equipped as Christian leaders into the world."

The school integrates faith into every subject and activity. Where some institutions restrict religious studies to chapel services or Bible classes, SCS weaves Christ into every aspect of student life.

"Christ is how we see the world," explains Johnson. "We want kids to grow in their knowledge and ultimately become leaders in their families, businesses, and communities."

Leadership at SCS means harnessing students' skills to reflect Christ's excellence. So, the school

takes self-reflection seriously, providing on-campus support for each child's talents and interests.

"We're all made in the image of God," says Johnson. "We all have different gifts. So, students explore their personalities to know who and what they are as they develop. Some kids lead from the front. Some kids are quiet and work behind the scenes. The point is that they're all participating, and they're all important."

SCS offers a rigorous academic program, accredited by ACSI and Cognia, designed to prepare students for college and beyond. Students can pursue a distinguished diploma, take Advanced Placement courses, or earn college credits through dual-credit programs. The students feel prepared when they enter college, excelling in their areas of study, with SCS boasting medical professionals and scientists, executives and entrepreneurs, and public servants among their alums.

"We want each child to discover the way that God has designed for him or her to go," says Johnson. "The journey is shaped by how you start, who guides and is there with you."

When the students aren't in the classroom, they are in the community, notably during Faith and Service Week, which they call Minimester at SCS.

"We have a whole week for faith and service," Johnson says. "Kids will be all over the Metroplex working with nonprofits, ministries, and even nonfaith-based organizations to serve and demonstrate Christ's love in action."

SCS also extends its hospitality to local ministries, charities, and businesses through the Clay Center for Christian Leadership, offering them space and resources for retreats and events.

"We'll feed them lunch and get them out of their usual environment," Johnson says. "It's just one of the ways we try to be a blessing to the community."

Beyond academics and service, SCS prides itself on fostering a culture of encouragement and support that students and their families can rely on during the highs and lows of life.

"I remember my first year here, during the talent show, a kid forgot the words to his song," Johnson recalls. "Instead of letting him struggle alone, his friends and the audience started singing with him. It was a moment of pure kindness—our kids could not have been more encouraging."

SCS teaches students to interact lovingly with everyone, including those from different backgrounds. A truly non-denominational space with students from nearly 90 churches, the school exposes students to a melting pot of diverse ideologies and experiences.

"We want kids to explore their faith," Johnson says. "This is a place where people can be known and loved."

The annual high school retreat also fosters unity, with the entire high school, its teachers, and several parents going away for three days.

"It's a highlight for many of our students—a time of bonding, reflection, and faith-building," says Johnson.

“We want each child to discover the way that God has designed for him or her to go. The journey is shaped by how you start, who guides and is there with you.”

From its humble beginnings in a borrowed church space to its expansive campus on the Lake, there is no question SCS has evolved, but the growth was intentional and always benefitted the students. The classes remain small, with only an average of 14 kids in each classroom. Schools with similar teacher-student ratios struggle to provide supplemental programming, but SCS sets itself apart with a vast catalog of extracurriculars. Each campus offers sports, clubs, volunteer opportunities, and internships to support students' growth. The balance is unique and one they're proud of.

Johnson is thankful the community recognizes their efforts, notably students' families, who entrust their children to the school's teachers, coaches, and mentors.

"We recognize that it's the family who trains these children in the way they should go," he says. "We're here to help, advise, and provide expertise, but ultimately, we want to engage families and give them the resources they need to raise strong, faith-filled leaders."

At SCS, it's about collaboration, as children rely on their family, community, teachers, and spiritual guides working together for their best interests. Johnson says it in many ways, but the message is clear.

We can either equip children to influence the world or allow the world to influence them. Southwest Christian School wants to give young minds and hearts every opportunity to climb higher—not just in their careers but in their purpose and calling.

Your Wellness is Worth It

Forte Wellness Believes In Stronger Healthcare

It’s been nearly an hour, but you remain patiently seated in the exam room. You saw every specialist leading up to this visit, diligently followed each instruction, and endured the recommended tests. No matter your discomfort, you swallowed the prescriptions.

“It was worth it,” you think. You’ll get answers today, and the road to recovery will begin.

When the doctor finally enters, it’s only for a minute; he congratulates you on a clean bill of health. “You’re good to go,” he says before leaving. But you aren’t.

We’ve all been there. The moment you realize you’re in the wrong place, and after everything you’ve experienced, the lingering uneasiness is the most difficult pill to swallow.

Alex Strong, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, is changing the narrative, opening Forte Wellness off S. Calhoun Street in Fort Worth after nearly a decade in family medicine at Baylor Family Medicine in Weatherford.

Forte Wellness is Strong’s prescription for the broken healthcare system she saw from within, offering holistic, individualized treatment options with patient-driven results.

“I saw a lot of preventable things,” Strong says. To her, the system was backward, relying too heavily on pharmaceuticals and treatments that appeased insurance companies, so she left it all behind, trusting her familial penchant for entrepreneurship would kick in.

“My father was an incredible man,” she says. “He left home at 16 due to a difficult upbringing and ended up in Albuquerque at 18, working for a steel manufacturing company specializing in

large hauling systems for construction and mining. It brought him success.”

The story taught Strong that good things happen to those bold enough to act. Fittingly, she named her practice “Forte” (pronounced fôrt), meaning “strong” in Italian, a nod to her last name and Fort Worth, and worked out of a friend’s med spa while she saved for an office.

Six months ago, Strong toured her space off S. Calhoun, and in February 2025, she celebrated a year of seeing patients her way. The whirlwind journey is one even Strong struggles to believe. On the office door is a bee, Forte’s logo delicately transferred to the glass in gold, a symbol reminding her of her father and the power of his and her will.

“Theoretically, bees are impossible,” she laughs. “Their wing size-to-body mass ratio defies physics; they shouldn’t be able to fly.”

The bee’s resiliency also encourages hope, as many of Strong’s patients find her after exhausting traditional healthcare channels. During the first appointment at

You’ll get answers today, and the road to recovery will begin.

Forte Wellness, Strong asks in-depth questions to comprehensively understand a client’s health.

“My approach includes understanding the root of things,” Strong explains. “Were they a C-section birth? Did they breastfeed or bottle-feed? What’s their birth order? Have they experienced trauma? All of these factors affect health and development.”

Strong emphasizes gut health as a foundation for overall wellness.

“Gut health is so important because it’s how your body absorbs nutrients, minerals, and fluid,” she says. “That’s where the life of your body begins.” The gut affects mental health as well, where Strong says there are 10 times as many serotonin receptors in your abdomen than your brain. She warns that antibiotics kill good and bad bacteria within the gut biome.

“People who take antibiotics have a 23% increased risk of developing depressive symptoms.”

With the gut still in mind, nutrition is a key pillar of Strong’s wellness philosophy.

“Most of the food we eat falls short of what our bodies need,” she says. “It’s overly processed, lacking nutrients, and contains fillers and chemical dyes. Without correcting this first, other interventions won’t be as effective.”

Accepting the effect of mental health on a person’s physical health is another cornerstone of Strong’s practice.

“Almost 70% of my patients when I was in family medicine had some sort of mental health condition,” she says.

Strong acknowledges how the moving and integrated parts of health can become overwhelming for patients, so she tailors treatment to fit their financial and processing needs.

“I give my patients multiple options and implement whatever they feel most comfortable with,” she says. “As long as it’s a safe treatment plan.” Her goal is to move away from over-reliance on medication and toward sustainable, preventive care that encourages overall health.

Insurance standards substantially dictated and restricted care options within the traditional healthcare system during Strong’s tenure, so Forte Wellness operates outside of insurance. Out-ofpocket care may seem exorbitant to some, but Strong counsels, “Your Wellness is Worth It,” referencing the Forte Wellness motto.

“So often we prioritize things before our health,” she says. “But we can only put it off until our body forces us to prioritize it; that cost can be devastating. It’s worth taking care of yourself now, even if that means sacrificing certain things.”

Strong continues to expand her knowledge and skills, working towards a functional medicine certification that aligns with her wellness ideologies.

She encourages anyone feeling lost within the modern healthcare system to schedule a consultation at Forte Wellness.

“We will go through medical and personal history and devise a plan,” she says. “I’ll go down rabbit holes until I find a treatment that works. I won’t give up.”

PROBLEM solved

Skyler Brooks began climbing recreationally between college classes with his friends. The sport was an outlet, whether he needed to blow off steam, engage his inner child, or challenge himself to reach the top; it was never a serious entrepreneurial endeavor, until it was.

"I fell in love," he says. "I was climbing five days a week and made friends with the gym owner. I learned about the business, and opening a gym became an idea my wife and I fantasized about but never thought would happen."

Skyler and his wife, Vanessa, moved to Fort Worth with their daughter, Eloise, four years ago, and the rest of their families followed suit shortly after. The change of scenery made everything feel possible.

"Every step we took brought us closer to opening the gym until one day it happened," Skyler remembers. "It was meant to be."

Today, the couple owns The Blok Climbing Co. on Vickery Boulevard with Skyler's parents, and just like his college years, it's more than a gym.

"It turned out to be the best decision we ever made," Skyler says.

The Blok Climbing Co. specializes in bouldering, a form of rock climbing performed on shorter walls without ropes, with padded flooring to catch the occasional fall. Skyler explains the difference between traditional climbing and bouldering:

THE SPORT WAS AN OUTLET, WHETHER HE NEEDED TO BLOW OFF STEAM, ENGAGE HIS INNER CHILD, OR CHALLENGE HIMSELF TO REACH THE TOP; IT WAS NEVER A SERIOUS ENTREPRENEURIAL ENDEAVOR, UNTIL IT WAS.

“I FELL IN LOVE. I WAS CLIMBING five days A WEEK AND MADE friends WITH THE GYM OWNER.”

"Rope climbing is like cross country—it's endurance-based. Bouldering is more like track—higher intensity with shorter bursts of energy. It allows your inner child to play."

Beyond climbing, The Blok offers a traditional fitness room with free weights, pull-up stations, and cardio equipment. They also feature a recovery room Skyler not-so-lovingly nicknamed the "torture chamber," which includes a cold plunge and sauna for muscle recovery.

But what truly sets The Blok apart is its members.

"We host a lot of community events," Skyler says. "We have competitions, vendor markets, board game nights, and social gatherings. It's a place where people come together, not just to work out but to connect."

Unlike traditional gyms, where headphones are a shield and people prefer solitude, climbing fosters engagement.

"It's inherently social," Skyler explains. "You're always talking with others, giving advice, and working through climbs together. It's a natural icebreaker when you jump on the same climb as someone else."

The benefits of climbing, both physically and mentally, are what drew Skyler to the sport. He outlines several key advantages:

• Full-body workout: Climbing engages the arms, back, core, and legs simultaneously, building functional strength.

• More engaging than a typical workout: Every climb is different, keeping things exciting and helping climbers stay motivated.

• Improves flexibility and mobility: The sport requires a full range of motion, naturally increasing flexibility over time.

• Enhances balance and coordination: Navigating holds and movements helps improve bodily control.

“IT’S INHERENTLY social . YOU’RE ALWAYS talking WITH OTHERS, giving ADVICE, AND working THROUGH CLIMBS TOGETHER.”

• Mental challenge: Climbing is like solving a puzzle—you must figure out the best route and techniques to succeed.

• Boosts confidence and resilience: Overcoming climbing challenges helps build mental toughness and self-assurance.

• Built-in social benefits: Climbing fosters strong community bonds, making it a welcoming and supportive environment.

• Great for mental well-being: The combination of physical exertion, problem-solving, and social interaction makes it an excellent stress reliever.

"Most people spend 95% of their climbing time failing," Skyler laughs. "But that 5% of the time when you finally complete a tough climb, it's the best feeling. It mirrors life—pushing through challenges, self-improvement, and celebrating victories."

Climbing remains a niche sport, but its appeal has grown significantly thanks to the Olympics adding various events in 2021 and the rise of famous climbers like Alex Honnold.

“IT’S BEEN INCREDIBLE TO see the community FORM AROUND THE BLOK.
WE’RE EXCITED TO keep growing AND SHARING this passion WITH OTHERS.”

"We see people from all walks of life," Skyler says. "Our youngest climber was two years old, and our oldest is 74. It's not just about brute strength—it's technique, problem-solving, and learning how to move your body efficiently."

Climbing positions are similar to yoga poses, with many from Skyler's gym partaking in both exercises.

"Yoga requires body control in positions that aren't typical for most people," he notes. "Climbing is the same, so there's a lot of overlap."

Skyler hopes the Blok will familiarize more people with the sport, bringing in people from his new community so he can meet them his favorite way.

"We are more than just a gym; we're a social hub for people to hang out," he says. "If you don't want to go to the bar or spend money at a restaurant, come to the gym. We always have something going on. "

Whatever is happening, there will always be someone from the Brooks family mingling amongst attendees, hanging in the lounge with their kids, or participating in a challenge.

"It's been incredible to see the community form around The Blok," says Skyler. "We're excited to keep growing and sharing this passion with others."

So, whether you're a seasoned climber or a curious beginner, Skyler and his team are ready to welcome you to the wall.

A HILL COUNTRY ESCAPE amongst the trees awaits

THIS FAMILY-OWNED RESORT CHECKS ALL THE GETAWAY BOXES

Images like wineries along the highway, Enchanted Rock State Park, and rich German culture probably come to mind when you think of Fredericksburg. This popular destination town has much to offer those seeking to get away from the daily grind, so it’s no surprise that it’s also home to 17 idyllic properties nestled in the rolling Hill Country. Called Honeytree, from the treehouses built into oldgrowth oak trees to A-frame cabins with epic views, these dwellings will capture the hearts of anyone who chooses to stay.

Jacob and Katie Rhodes have built HoneyTree from the ground up and maintain each house with loving care. Shortly after moving to Fredericksburg, the couple decided to build a treehouse amongst several Texas live oak trees that grew on their Sycamore-lined creek property near Katie’s childhood home. Aptly named The Sycamore, the house was a huge success and thus began their journey from a single treehouse to multiple unique properties that embrace the beauty of the region.

While neither Jacob nor Katie are trained in design, the meticulous attention to detail in each treehouse shows they have a natural talent. Each house is a tasteful blend of design styles: There’s a definite bohemian influence, and touches of Hill Country can be seen everywhere, as the Rhodes use local materials like Juniper cedar in design aspects such as the light fixtures and the exterior railings.

“We just sort of come to it from our own inspiration. We use a lot of Pinterest and Instagram, and we’re both pretty esthetically in tune with each other. My wife does a lot of handwork, so she is

knitting and doing all kinds of sort of artwork. I’m a handyman, and so I do a lot of, you know, more sculptural building, ” says Jacob.

Honeytree has two locations for guests: The Meadow, the site of the original five treehouses, and BlueSage, a property located between Fredericksburg and Enchanted Rock State Park, home to 12 additional units. The first five houses are built amongst the trees, but an ice storm forced the Rhodes to adjust their vision for BlueSage, so while the homes there aren’t traditional treehouses, Jacob explains the best treehouse amenities made their way into the designs: outdoor bathtubs, rooftop stargazing patios, helical staircases, round windows, and garage doors that open onto decks that feature incredible views.

Needless to say, booking time at either HoneyTree location is an opportunity for relaxation at its finest. Except for the family unit at BlueSage, none of the units have TVs. Originally a connectivity issue, feedback showed the Rhodes their unique resort gave guests a chance to get away from it all. “If there’s a value we want to stand by and encourage, especially on a romantic getaway, it’s to disconnect from the news cycle, disconnect from the distractions a lot of us have to live with in modern life. And have this be a space where you can escape from all that,” says Jacob.

There’s a walking trail at The Meadow, and Blue Sage has amenities like a fire pit and propane grills. This spring, Blue Sage will feature

“Enchanted Rock State Park is just super cool and impressive, wine tasting is really fun, and if you’re here in the springtime, it’s all about the wildflowers.”

three cowboy pools, a barrel sauna, a cold plunge, and an outdoor shower.

And if you do want to leave the bucolic property and explore Fredericksburg and the surrounding Hill Country? Jacob has several suggestions: “Enchanted Rock State Park is just super cool and impressive, wine tasting is really fun, and if you’re here in the springtime, it’s all about the wildflowers. Find a country road and just drive it. There’s also a place called WildSeed Farms, which sells a lot of the local wildflower seed and has fields and fields of cultivated wildflowers.”

As far as dining goes, Jacob shared some of his favorite spots. For breakfast, the green chili chicken and grit bowl at Caliche is a must, the burger at Hill & Vine is always a good option for lunch, and for dinner, Otto’s German Bistro is a farm-to-table spot every visitor should try.

Well, it's like a cheeky nod to the idea that sipping on this cocktail might be more fun than paying actual taxes! Made with gin, sweet vermouth, orange juice, and a dash of bitters, it's like a boozy adventure for your taste buds, with hints of citrus and herbs. Despite its vintage roots, the Income Tax Cocktail still brings the party vibes, transporting you back to the roaring '20s.

At MRC Stevenson Oaks, our philosophy is that no matter how old we are or what challenges we live with, life is about continuing to grow. We fight back on thieves like loneliness, helplessness and boredom. “We’re busier now than we ever were. Our children call and they can’t get us and they wonder where we are now. And I have to reply: we were at bingo, we were at lunch, we were at dinner, now we are going down to trivia. It’s endless, what you can find to do. It’s just one fun-filled, lifetime vacation.”

YOUR GREENS

Boost your health by adding a generous serving of fresh greens to your daily diet. While both cooked and raw vegetables offer health benefits, consuming them raw often provides the most nutrients. Raw greens are rich in fiber, antioxidants, and essential vitamins, helping to lower inflammation and reduce the risk of disease.

DANDELION GREENS:

Dandelion greens are a nutritious and easy addition to any meal, perfect for salads or cooked dishes. They are rich in vitamins A, C, K, chlorophyll, and fiber, making them a great choice for digestion and overall health. Their light flavor and texture enhance salads and sandwiches.

BROCCOLI:

Broccoli is often hailed as a nutritional powerhouse, packed with a variety of vitamins and minerals that support overall health. Known for being high in vitamins A, C, and K, it also contains important minerals like potassium, iron, and calcium. In addition, it’s a rich source of beta-carotene, flavonoids, and fiber. Whether raw or cooked, broccoli is an excellent choice for immune system support, making it one of the most nutrient-dense vegetables available.

BRUSSELS SPROUTS:

Brussels sprouts are a highly nutritious cruciferous vegetable, known for their vitamin C, K, and folate content, as well as carotenoids and fiber. These vegetables can be shaved, sliced, sautéed, boiled, or grilled, offering a range of flavors from mild to bitter, depending on preparation.

KALE:

Kale is loaded with essential nutrients such as vitamins C, B6, E, K, and manganese. It contains twice as much selenium as spinach and is an excellent source of calcium. Kale’s unique properties help bind to cholesterol and lower oxalate levels, which promotes calcium absorption and makes it suitable for those prone to kidney stones. Additionally, it provides eye health benefits, thanks to lutein, and its disease-fighting properties make it a great addition to salads, smoothies, and more.

ARTICHOKES:

Artichokes are not only delicious but also packed with fiber, which aids in digestion. They are a great source of plant protein, potassium, and antioxidants like polyphenols. Artichokes also provide essential nutrients, including vitamins C, K, folate, magnesium, and B vitamins.

ASPARAGUS:

Asparagus is versatile and can be enjoyed grilled, sautéed, baked, or even raw. Packed with vitamins C, E, B, K, folate, and copper, it’s a great source of fiber. It also helps lower cholesterol and provides a variety of antioxidants that aid in healing. Asparagus is a perfect side dish that complements both light and robustly flavored meals.

SPINACH:

Spinach is a popular green known for its mild flavor and impressive nutritional profile. Rich in vitamins A, C, K, as well as magnesium, potassium, and iron, spinach is great for overall health. It also provides antioxidants that support eye health and includes calcium for stronger bones. However, because spinach has a higher oxalate content, it should be consumed in moderation by those with a history of kidney stones.
