The Gentlemen's Issue
As we enter June, we take a moment to recognize the impact of fathers and the men who step into roles of leadership, guidance, and support. It is presence, more than anything, that builds a legacy—one that is invaluable to those who rely on it and to the community as a whole. From fathers and grandfathers to mentors, coaches, and family friends, a steady presence leaves a lasting mark on a life.

When I reflect on the past, I am reminded not only of the big moments but also of the small ones—a hand on a shoulder, advice shared without expectation, and time set aside with quiet intention. Presence often speaks louder than words, and it builds the confidence and resilience we carry forward.
This month, we are proud to present our Gentleman's Issue, celebrating the spirit of leadership across West Austin. From business leaders to artists and athletes, we recognize the men whose strength and character continue to make a difference in our communities.
As we move through the Father's Day season, here are a few ways that presence leaves a lasting impact:
• Strength that brings security
• Words that offer hope and direction
• Smiles that lift the spirit
• Time that creates connection
• Guidance that builds a foundation
• Correction that protects and shapes
• Adventures that become memories for a lifetime
If you have been fortunate to know someone who made a difference in your life, take the time to reach out. And if you are someone making that difference today, we thank you.
Cheers to celebrating all who lead, guide, and inspire us this Father's Day season!

Hold Your Assets Separately. Demand Unbiased, Fiduciary Advice.
Work with a fiduciary advisor whose firm safeguards client assets at a separate third-party custodian. At Old Vine Capital, we use Charles Schwab to custody client accounts. Independent custody helps eliminate conflicts of interest and ensures your investment advice remains custom, objective, and fully aligned with your goals.
Allocate to Private Markets and Non-U.S. Equities for Broader Diversification
Allocating to private credit, private equity, and venture capital can add new sources of return and lower portfolio correlation to public markets. Adding non-U.S. global equities further enhances diversification and can help reduce portfolio volatility over time.
Avoid High-Fee, High-Conflict Products
Products like annuities and mutual funds often carry hidden fees, tax inefficiencies, and embedded sales incentives. Every dollar saved boosts your long-term compounding power—making low-cost, taxefficient strategies critical for success.

Building Community Resilience
LOCAL LEADERS ACROSS ESSENTIAL INDUSTRIES SHARE INSIGHTS TO SUPPORT WEST AUSTIN FAMILIES AND BUSINESSES.
ARTICLE BY MICHELLE WOOD

George Drazic
President, Efficient AC, Electric & Plumbing
Serving the West Austin community for almost 50 years, Efficient AC, Electric & Plumbing stays focused on people, products, and performance. “Austin is a technology-centered community. We stay in tune with what people want and make sure our team has the skills to deliver,” says President George Drazic. “We are not scared of new products (as long as they are backed by quality manufacturers) because we are committed to offering the latest, most reliable solutions that perform as promised.” Their goal is to keep things simple for customers—because, as Drazic shares, “the complicated part is ours to handle.”
Though the city has changed dramatically since 1976, Efficient’s commitment to relationships remains unchanged. “We are still ‘old school’ in the way we handle relationships—offering the right solutions at the right time and standing behind our work,” Drazic explains. “We are not chasing the biggest profit; we are trying to earn long-term customers.”
Family values also influence the way Drazic leads. “Much of our team are friends to me now. We both celebrate and grieve with them as their lives and families progress.”
Efficient has also built a reputation for doing things the right way, from sourcing reliable, high-quality products to offering solutions that truly fit each

customer’s needs. “Philosophically, it comes from putting ourselves in our customers’ shoes,” Drazic notes.
For homeowners preparing for the Texas summer, Drazic recommends changing filters, clearing drains, and inspecting outdoor equipment for insect activity and overgrown foliage. Proactive maintenance helps systems run longer and prevents expensive mid-summer breakdowns.
“Efficient is here to stay and grow with Central Texas,” Drazic shares. With only two principal owners since its founding, the company remains proudly independent and local—just like the customers they serve.

Neil Kay
Founder, Old Vine Capital
Old Vine Capital, founded by Neil Kay, is built on the belief that financial planning should create lasting confidence—not short-term reactions. Every portfolio is anchored in each client’s unique goals, liquidity needs, and long-term objectives, with a focus on building resilience across market cycles.
As economic uncertainty and tariff-related volatility continue into 2025, Neil emphasizes the importance of preparation. “For long-term investors, this kind of volatility, while uncomfortable, is entirely normal. Historically, markets recover quickly once policy clarity emerges. That’s why we continue to emphasize broad diversification across asset classes, long-term discipline, and avoiding reactive decisions during headline-driven corrections,” he says.
Old Vine Capital takes a highly personalized approach to investment strategy. “We don’t subscribe to model portfolios or one-size-fits-all investment plans,” Neil explains. “Instead, we customize each strategy—leveraging tools like taxloss harvesting, liquidity planning, and custom stock indexing to enhance aftertax returns while staying aligned with each client’s financial plan.”

Building portfolio resilience also means diversifying beyond traditional public stocks and bonds. “For accredited clients, we’ve leaned into private credit, private equity, and early-stage venture capital as alternative sources of return that offer lower correlation to public markets and enhanced long-term performance potential,” he says. The firm is also excited about the advances in AI, TechBio, and health innovation—areas reshaping how people live, work, and invest.
“In all market environments, we remain focused on doing what’s right: delivering fiduciary advice, managing risk thoughtfully, and helping clients stay on track toward long-term success,” he emphasizes. Schedule a consultation to learn more at OldVineCapital.com or email Info@oldvinecapital.com

“Volatility is normal,” Weinhold shares. “It’s uncomfortable, unpredictable, and sometimes downright scary.” His advice to clients? Have a plan and try to keep emotions in check. A sound strategy addresses income sources—Social Security, pensions, annuities—and uses tools like money markets and short-term bonds to avoid drawing down investments during market dips.
Guy Weinhold, CFP® AAMS®
Edward Jones Financial Advisor
Personalized financial planning plays a critical role. “Knowing as much as possible about our clients and their situation helps us prepare and plan for volatile times,” says Weinhold. Personalized strategies can also present opportunities like tax loss harvesting, Roth conversions, and portfolio rebalancing to position for long-term growth.
For retirees, preserving purchasing power is key. Weinhold emphasizes the importance of rising income streams, often built with stocks that pay growing dividends. “Historically, dividends have contributed about 40% of the S&P 500’s total long-term return,” he notes.
Diversification remains a cornerstone. “Starting points matter,” Weinhold explains. Balanced portfolios, including fixed income investments, have provided downside protection during volatile markets. “Bonds have played a diversifier role, and international markets have also performed well this year,” he shares.

A Life Led by Golf
COLTON TURNQUIST SHARES THE IMPORTANCE OF GOLF’S PRINCIPLES IN EVERYDAY LIFE.

Colton Turnquist
Barton Creek Country Club is home to some of the finest golf courses in Texas, and for Colton Turnquist, it is where competition, community, and character come together. As a three-time Men’s Club Champion, he has learned how to stay composed under pressure and apply that same discipline to guiding clients through important decisions. His tournament experiences deepened his belief that golf reflects the challenges and growth that come with competition and personal milestones, requiring the consistency, focus, and patience that define how he supports clients in everyday life.
Before joining Engel & Völkers Austin, Colton spent years competing at a professional level, building a foundation of mental toughness and adaptability. Growing up with a frontrow seat to the industry, Colton was introduced to golf and real estate at an early age by his parents, Michele and Steve Turnquist. They founded Turnquist Partners Realtors Inc., now Engel & Völkers Austin, San Antonio, Stone Oak, and Alamo Heights. Today, he approaches both life and business with character, integrity, humility, and respect—principles that define how he leads.
COLTON, HOW DID YOUR THREE MEN’S CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP WINS SHAPE YOUR PERSPECTIVE ON GROWTH AND FOCUS?
Winning the first time was pretty exciting. Being a 17-year-old kid playing against adults was a big change for me. I had just started taking golf seriously about eight months prior, so winning was a big deal—big enough that
Photography by Alissa Cordoba, featuring Colton Turnquist of Engel & Völkers Austin
the club changed the rules to basically not allow juniors to compete anymore. The second win showed I still had some game at an older age. The third was validation from the year before and a different challenge, as high winds were wreaking havoc. Patience was something I had to rely on, and I’ve definitely developed much more of it as I’ve gotten older.
IN WHAT WAYS DOES YOUR BACKGROUND AS A COMPETITOR HELP YOU ADVISE ATHLETES IN REAL ESTATE?
I get where they’re coming from—high stakes, high standards, and little margin for error. Athletes appreciate honesty, efficiency, and someone who can match their drive. I know what it means to prepare, execute under pressure, and bounce back from setbacks, which makes me a trusted partner in helping them invest wisely.
DO YOU HAVE PERSONAL ROUTINES THAT HELP YOU PREPARE FOR BIG MOMENTS?
Absolutely. I have a consistent routine with meals and warmups before tournaments to prepare mentally and physically. Real estate can bring similar high-pressure moments, and staying calm helps prevent clients from feeling unnecessary stress during exciting milestones.
ARE THERE ANY GOALS YOU’RE FOCUSED ON THIS YEAR?
I’m focused on playing more competitive amateur golf events and building deeper relationships with both existing and new athlete clients in real estate. Both goals come down to the same thing: consistency, preparation, and staying curious.
IF YOU COULD PLAY A ROUND OF GOLF WITH ANY THREE PEOPLE, WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE?
I would immediately have to go with a prime Jack Nicklaus, a prime Tiger Woods and a prime Ben Hogan. The amount you could learn from one round of golf with those three would be priceless.
Colton’s foundation of discipline and composure helps clients move through real estate decisions with confidence. Connect with him at coltonturnquist.evrealestate.com or by phone at (512) 431-5058.

“Being a gentleman means showing consistent character with integrity, humility, and respect so others know they can trust my word, whether on the course or in business.” - Colton Turnquist

SMILE BRIGHTER
MODERN ORTHODONTICS DESIGNED FOR COMFORT, CONFIDENCE, AND LIFELONG DENTAL HEALTH.
ARTICLE BY MICHELLE WOOD | PHOTOGRAPHY COURTESY OF LAKE TRAVIS ORTHODONTICS

Personalized care and advanced technology define the patient experience with Dr. Alberto Tostado at Lake Travis Orthodontics. Known for his conservative philosophy, he minimizes the need for extractions and tailors every treatment plan to each patient’s lifestyle. Through innovations like Angel Aligners, self-ligating braces, and digital printing, he helps deliver beautiful results while reducing discomfort, visit frequency, and treatment times.
For Dr. Tostado, delivering exceptional orthodontic care starts with understanding the unique needs of every patient. He believes that a successful treatment plan balances clinical excellence with personal goals, lifestyle, and long-term health. That personalized approach is strengthened by his use of advanced technology, helping patients achieve outstanding results with greater comfort and efficiency.
Angel Aligners, exclusively designed for orthodontists, allow him to deliver precise results with minimal discomfort. “With full compliance, many clear aligner cases can be completed in under a year,” he shares. Self-ligating braces also offer patients a more natural and comfortable tooth movement experience, reducing the number of required appointments while achieving excellent results.
His philosophy centers around early evaluation, encouraging parents to bring children in around age seven or eight. “Early monitoring allows us to identify and address potential issues before they become more serious,” says Dr. Tostado. By taking the time to educate families during consultations, he builds trust and helps parents feel confident in their child’s orthodontic care plan.
Adults are increasingly embracing orthodontic treatment too, thanks to clear aligners and in-house 3D printing technology. “It’s been exciting to see how accessible orthodontics has become,” he says. “We can now create custom solutions quickly and affordably, helping patients of all ages achieve beautiful, lasting results.”
Beyond the technology, Dr. Tostado’s greatest focus remains building strong relationships. “Orthodontic treatment is a journey,” he says. “By getting to know each patient and guiding them through every step, we create an experience that is positive, transparent, and rewarding.”

“Orthodontic treatment is a journey built on trust, transparency, and genuine patient relationships.”

Boosting Men’s Health
Achieving a life of freedom and function through early intervention.
ARTICLE BY MICHELLE WOOD PHOTOGRAPHY BY BOOST PERFORMANCE AND LONGEVITY
CENTER
June is National Men’s Health Month, and Dr. Steven Conroy of Boost Performance and Longevity Center is encouraging men to take charge of their health through early intervention and personalized care.
WHAT MAJOR HEALTH ISSUES DO MEN FACE TODAY, AND HOW DO YOU ADDRESS THEM?
Heart disease remains the top killer of U.S. men and strikes hardest when paired with metabolic syndrome. The first line of defense is aggressive cardiometabolic screening, Mediterranean-leaning, high-protein nutrition, structured resistance/interval training, sleep-stress optimization, and supporting mental and emotional well-being. Testosterone deficiency, prostate cancer, and sexual wellness concerns require early screening and proactive care.
WHY IS EARLY PREVENTATIVE CARE SO IMPORTANT FOR MEN?
Too often, men live by the belief that “if I feel fine, I must be fine.” By intervening early and decisively, we can shift the trajectory toward longer, healthier lives.
HOW DOES FUNCTIONAL AND INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE IMPROVE MEN’S HEALTH?
It offers a personalized, root-cause approach to health—addressing underlying imbalances driving fatigue, weight gain, low libido, or mood issues.
WHAT SIMPLE ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE MEN FOR A HEALTHIER LIFESTYLE?
Get proactive checkups, fuel your body with whole foods, move with purpose, prioritize sleep, and don’t ignore mental health.

The ROK Golf Experience
A New Era of Training and Community for Serious and Casual Golfers.
After 16 years in the IT industry, Brian Borichevsky, Founder and CEO of ROK Golf, combined his civil engineering background, tech expertise, and lifelong love of golf to create an accessible, elite environment for golfers to practice and train using Trackman golf simulators.
“From the very early days of ROK Golf, the vision was for holistic golf improvement in a ‘seriously fun’ atmosphere,” says Brian. With Trackman technology, expert instructors, and a welcoming sports-bar vibe, ROK Golf delivers lessons, practice, play, and training all under one roof.
Brian challenges outdated beliefs about golf improvement. “The most common misconceptions are, first, that you get better by just playing or by showing up to the range and blindly hitting balls, and second, that indoor turf and bays don’t simulate real grass and golf conditions.” He believes that without accurate feedback, players risk reinforcing bad habits instead of building skill. “Practicing inside eliminates variables and provides visibility into what you’re doing,” he adds, highlighting the advantage of a hightech environment.
ARTICLE BY MICHELLE WOOD PHOTOGRAPHY COURTESY OF ROK GOLF
ROK Golf is shaping the future of golf education by making professional-level training accessible to all. “Not all reps are the same. Thirty minutes at ROK will do more for your game than hours on a range hitting blind,” Brian explains. It’s an approach that prioritizes quality practice, meaningful feedback, and time efficiency.
ROK Golf continues to make the game approachable for serious and casual players alike. “At our core the mission is to build long term relationships with our customers and trust that their success will drive our growth,” says Brian.
For the golfer who values precision, innovation, and a little fun along the way, ROK Golf proves that the journey to excellence can be as rewarding as the destination. Players can experience ROK Golf firsthand at two convenient locations including 701 S Capital of Texas Hwy #520E in West Lake Hills and 12908 Shops Pkwy Ste 100 in Bee Cave.

ARTICLE BY MICHELLE WOOD PHOTOGRAPHY COURTESY OF GAVINO DERMATOLOGY
“Alopecia areata impacted me tremendously, and that paved the way for me wanting to pursue expertise in hair loss.”
- Dr. Carlo Gavino

Leading in Dermatology & Hair Restoration
A conversation with Dr. Carlo Gavino, founder and lead dermatologist at GAVINO
DERMATOLOGY.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO SPECIALIZE IN DERMATOLOGY AND ADVANCED HAIR RESTORATION?
I love the visual aspect of dermatology, and I love that the specialty allows me to be very dynamic and multi-faceted. I practice medical dermatology, pathology, cosmetics, and surgery every day, treating patients of all ages. The skin is the largest organ in our body, and patients value and care a lot about it, which makes them very motivated to seek help and follow treatment plans. This becomes very fulfilling to me as a dermatologist.
I started my hair loss journey when I personally developed alopecia areata as a research fellow in Immuno-Dermatology at UT Southwestern in Dallas. That experience led to what has become my mission to help as many patients as possible who are struggling with hair loss.
HOW HAS TRAINING WITH SOME OF THE WORLD’S LEADING HAIR LOSS EXPERTS SHAPED YOUR APPROACH AT GAVINO DERMATOLOGY?
I am both a dermatologist and dermatopathologist, and trained with experts who also were dermatologists and dermatopathologists. My hair loss mentors ingrained

in me the importance of the hair biopsy in uncovering the diagnosis and exact cause for the patient’s hair thinning. I combine the clinical and histological features of each patient’s hair loss, establish a diagnosis, and then formulate a treatment plan tailored to the individual.
WHAT’S YOUR PHILOSOPHY WHEN IT COMES TO DESIGNING TREATMENT PLANS?
I listen very carefully to my patients, understanding that although dermatologic diseases can behave in a predictable manner, every individual is impacted differently - physically, psychologically, socially, and emotionally. I treat every patient exactly like I would treat my family, and how I would want to be treated if the roles were reversed and I were the patient.
A quadruple board-certified physician, Dr. Gavino provides comprehensive medical, surgical, cosmetic, and hair loss care, with a location in Liberty Hill and a new location opening in Lakeway. Schedule an appointment by calling ( 737) 377-3143 or visiting GavinoDermatology.com.
PRESERVING Legacy THROUGH Heirloom JEWELRY

Nikolas Alan Jewelers, proudly located in Lakeway, TX, continues to elevate the art of jewelry design, creating timeless pieces that carry meaning across generations.
NICK, CAN YOU WALK US THROUGH HOW YOU BRING A CUSTOM DESIGN TO LIFE?
The process begins with understanding the customer’s style, goals, and budget. Typically, the center stone determines the overall design and size. We work from inspiration such as photos, sketches, or concepts, and can incorporate existing stones. After finalizing the design, I personally complete the CAD rendering and 3D printed model to show exactly how the finished piece will look. Once approved, we cast, set, and finish the piece in house.
WHAT KEY FACTORS SHOULD PEOPLE LOOK FOR IN A CUSTOM JEWELER?
Ask if the jewelry is made in-house or outsourced, if stones stay on-site, and whether skilled, formally trained jewelers are handling your piece.
HOW DO YOU BALANCE TIMELESS DESIGN WITH MODERN INNOVATION?
We embraced CAD over 20 years ago to strengthen our traditional craftsmanship. Technology alone isn’t enough without hands-on experience, which ensures durability, quality, and beauty. We are self-critical of every piece, stand behind our craftsmanship, and love making jewelry as much as our customers love wearing it.
