Few names are as synonymous with the history of Central Texas than Covert. Not only has Covert become one of the largest and most well-recognized automotive dealership family, they have, since the very beginning, been an integral part of the foundation of strong communities across the state through countless acts of charity and support. In 1909, Frank Covert Sr., a real estate and insurance businessman, opened the first ever Covert automobile dealership in downtown Austin on 5th Street selling the latest Oldsmobile vehicles of the time. Mr. Covert Sr. was a true believer in the importance of giving back. Founded in humble and hardworking beginnings, the Covert Family has continued to expand and now celebrates its 114 years of success with six generations continuing the legacy to this day.
As aforementioned, the importance of giving back to numerous nonprofits, charities, and community and city works such as the Covert Park at Mount Bonnell has been and continues to be a top priority for the Family. Although on the surface pizza and beer may sound straightforward, Pinthouse Brewing has brought this iconic duo to new heights with combinations you need to discover to truly appreciate. Opened January 2021, Pinthouse Brewing is a newly added arm to the Pinthouse Pizza family of brewpubs located in the Greater Austin area and stands out for its creative approach to offering something new every time you visit. “I think in our pubs it is about
keeping a fun, exciting selection of pizzas that allow our guests to try different combinations and flavor profiles,” said Philipp Norsetter, Pinthouse VP of Culinary. “We try to highlight this with our Off the Map program which provides a new pizza special monthly. work closely with our farmers to ensure we use the highest quality raw materials. I spend time each fall at hop harvest in the Pacific Northwest walking the fields with our farmers and hand selecting all of the hops we use each year. A Berry Sweet Surprise ARTICLE BY MICHELLE WOOD
Chocolate Covered Strawberries active time: 10 min total time: 1 hr 5 min makes: About 20 ingredients • 6 oz semisweet chocolate, chopped • 3 oz white chocolate, chopped • 1 lb strawberries with stems
directions 1. Place semisweet and white chocolates in 2 separate heatproof medium bowls. Melt the chocolates separately in a microwave, for 1 minute, stir and then heat again until melted. 2. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper. Holding a strawberry by the stem, dip the fruit into the dark chocolate, lift, and twist slightly, letting excess chocolate fall into the bowl. Set the strawberry on parchment paper. Repeat with remaining strawberries. Dip a fork in the white chocolate and drizzle it over the dipped strawberries. 3. Allow chocolate coating to cool, about 30 minutes.

Self-Love IT’S NEXT LEVEL SELF-CARE

Self-Love is next level self-care. While lighting candles and relaxing in a bath does wonders for reducing stress and improving mood, self-love goes a step further. It has to do with how we view and feel about ourselves. Does self-love make us a narcissist, or egocentric? No. It means we trust, honor, and respect ourselves. As such, we end up with more to give. We become self-full vs. self-ish. Selfish means having a lack of consideration for others. Self-full means we take care of our ourselves such that the fullness of self spills out into more health, happiness, and wellbeing for ourselves and others. Self-love is cultivated moment to moment over the course of a lifetime. Different phases of life present different challenges as we enter new seasons, however, we can cultivate and deepen self-love by learning to be more present with ourselves in each new phase with judgment-free awareness. The following questions can be explored to deepen self-love: What do I appreciate about myself? What are my strengths and talents? In what ways do I care for myself and contribute to the lives of others? What goals have I set and followed through with? In what ways have I handled challenges well? The more you explore, discover, and use your internal guidance system, rely on selftrust, and gift yourself understanding and forgiveness, the more you will elevate your self-concept, own your worth, and become your own champion of self-love.
