Celebrating the Men Who Shape Our Community

There’s something different about the men who call this community home.

Around here, life starts early and is built on hard work, responsibility, and a real connection to the land. Whether it’s in the arena, out on a ranch, or running a business, the men we’re surrounded by tend to show up the same way— steady, dependable, and not looking for attention. What stands out most isn’t just what they do, but how they do it. There’s a quiet discipline, a strong sense of purpose, and a deep pride in legacy—whether that’s found in the land they care for, the businesses they’ve built, or the families they’re raising. What I appreciate most is how grounded it all is. There’s a sense of pride here— not in a flashy way, but in doing things right, taking care of people, and being part of something bigger than yourself.

That’s really what City Lifestyle is about—real people, real lives, and the kind of community that makes this place so special. We’re proud to tell these stories and to be part of a community that lives them every day.

Thank you, Gentlemen, for all you do in our great place we call home.

Blessings,

June 2026

MORE THAN a Policy

ARTICLE BY JESSICA CRANDALL LAWRENCE | PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED

At first glance, Kral Insurance Group may appear to be a trusted neighborhood agency, but a closer look reveals something far more distinctive. Owners Casey and Trisha Kral have built their business on a model that goes beyond the expected by blending vast experience with a personal approach.

What sets the Krals apart isn’t just their knowledge of insurance. Together they offer a powerful combination of their professional backgrounds and a shared commitment to serving people.

Casey Kral brings years of experience as a licensed insurance agent and business owner. He understands the nuances of policies in an ever-changing landscape of health insurance plans. But what truly elevates their service is Trisha’s perspective. As a registered nurse— who is also a licensed insurance agent—she offers a unique lens into the healthcare system. It’s one that most agencies simply don’t have.

Together, they bridge the gap between healthcare and insurance.

For many people, Medicare can feel overwhelming. The sheer number of plans, combined with aggressive marketing and confusing language, often leaves individuals unsure of what’s best for them. Unfortunately, that complexity can also make people vulnerable to being steered into plans that may not truly serve their needs.

That’s where the Krals’ philosophy of education and honesty stands firm.

“We’ve seen too many people come to us after they’ve been signed up for something that doesn’t fit,” Casey says. “Our goal is to prevent that from happening in the first place.”

“We treat every client like we would our own family... That’s what this is about—taking care of people.”

“Insurance isn’t just about premiums and plans,” Trisha explains. “It’s about people’s real health needs. This includes what medications they’re on, what doctors they see, and what kind of care they may need in the future.”

That clinical insight allows the Krals to guide clients in a way that goes far beyond surface-level recommendations. Instead of simply presenting plan options, they evaluate how each plan will function in a client’s everyday life. It’s a level of personalization that can make a significant difference, especially when navigating Medicare.

“We’re here to serve.”

Rather than pushing one plan over another, Casey and Trisha take time to advise their clients. They walk through options side-byside, explain the benefits, and ensure clients understand not just what they’re choosing but why. It’s a refreshingly transparent approach in an industry that can sometimes feel transactional.

“We’re not here to sell,” Casey adds.

Clients of Kral Insurance Group often describe their experience as personal and pressure-free. Conversations feel more like sitting down with a trusted advisor than navigating a sales pitch. The Krals take the time to listen to concerns and questions, no matter how small.

“We stay with our clients,” Trisha says. “If something changes, whether it’s their health, their medications, or even the plans available, we’re here to help them reassess.”

This ongoing relationship is especially important in the Medicare space, where annual changes can impact coverage and costs. Having someone who understands both the medical and insurance sides of the equation can be invaluable.

For the Krals, their work has become a family affair. They recognize that the decisions their clients make aren’t just financial but can be very personal. These selections often affect access to care and quality of life.

Casey says it’s a responsibility they don’t take lightly.

“We treat every client like we would our own family. Because at the end of the day, that’s what this is about—taking care of people.”

In a landscape where surface-level answers and fast solutions are common, Kral Insurance Group offers thoughtful guidance and a commitment to integrity. And for the people they serve, that difference means everything.

If you’re ready to explore your options or simply want guidance you can trust, connecting with Kral Insurance Group is easy. Call (682) 333-0102 to speak directly with their team or visit Kral Insurance Group online to learn more about their services and approach. AN EXCERPT FROM EPISODE 6 OF SHARE THE LIFESTYLE, A CITY LIFESTYLE PODCAST

Photographer: Brittany Dawn Short

Creative Director: Jen Birn

Stylist: Stephanie Coultress O’Neill

Location: Hotel Saint Cecilia, Austin, TX

MIKE JOHNSON HAS BUILT HIS LIFE AROUND ONE QUIETLY RADICAL IDEA: THE STANDARD YOU SET PRIVATELY IS THE ONLY ONE THAT MATTERS.

After eight years in the Air Force, a celebrated run on national television, and a health crisis abroad that sent him deep into supply chains and ingredient certifications most founders never touch, the result is Oshun — a luxury ritual brand built on provenance you can trace and integrity you can verify. In an exclusive conversation for the Share the Lifestyle podcast, Mike shares what it actually takes to build something worth putting your name on. Read the highlights below, then scan the QR code for the full episode.

Q: YOU BECAME A FAN FAVORITE ON THE BACHELORETTE AND THEN LEFT THE SPOTLIGHT. YOU MOVED TO MEXICO, LEARNED SPANISH, THEN COSTA RICA, AND BUILT A COMPANY. WHAT DID THAT EXPERIENCE TEACH YOU ABOUT HUMAN BEHAVIOR?

A: “If you’re a good person going in, that shows. If you’re not, that shows too. I also learned that people form this parasocial relationship with you — they assume things about you. When all actuality, different circumstances bring out different parts of who you are. I was on TV trying to find love. The kindness people were showing after felt a bit fake, because they wanted to be a part of something that isn’t who I am individually, but a part of what they saw on TV. And so I had to get away from everybody and everything and the noise.”

THE QUIET STANDARD:

MIKE JOHNSON

“Too many people have prayed for me. So I’ve got to get up and do the walking.”
— Mike Johnson

Q: YOU JOINED THE AIR FORCE RIGHT OUT OF COMMUNITY COLLEGE. WHAT WERE YOU ACTUALLY RUNNING TOWARD?

A: “There was something in me that was saying: I’m not living up to my full potential. I was being a follower. My uncle said, ‘What’s going to make you become an adult the fastest?’ I said, obviously, the military. The Air Force broadened my thought process more than anything. We’re so caught up in our own perception — when you learn to understand different people’s perspectives, it adds to you in so many ways.”

Q: WITH OSHUN, YOU OWN YOUR MANUFACTURING, YOU EMPLOY A CHEMIST, EVERY PRODUCT HAS A BATCH NUMBER TRACEABLE TO ITS ORIGIN DATE. WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO GO THAT DEEP WITH THE BRAND?

A: “The EU bans 1,100 ingredients in personal care products. The U.S. bans nine. That’s my starting point. Oftentimes, it might be the same ingredient, but it comes from a place where it doesn’t have the highest purity. And 60% of what we put on our skin is absorbed. Every product Oshun makes carries a batch number that goes back to the exact day it was created — I can show you every single supplier, the date, the origin. I own more than one part of the supply chain because that’s the only way I can stand behind what’s in the bottle.”

This conversation is just the beginning. Mike goes deeper into why he’s buying land up north, the family in the Philippines who prayed over his factory floor, and what he’d tell every person ready to stop performing and start building. At the Helm of Weatherford College

How the Tenure of President Tod Allen Farmer has Expanded the Historic Institution of Higher Learning

Weatherford College is burgeoning into a season of unprecedented growth. With nearly 8,000 students, this historic academic institution was built in 1869 and stands as the oldest continuous community college west of the Mississippi River. It is also the single largest economic driver in Parker County.

In recent years, the college has garnered attention by adding five bachelor’s degrees, developing strategic graduate partnerships with other esteemed institutions, and boasting an annual budget in the realm of $100 million.

Much of this success has come in tandem with its president, Dr. Tod Allen Farmer, a graduate of both Weatherford High School and Weatherford College. Dr. Farmer is a first-generation college graduate who attributes the trajectory of his life to the school.

“Weatherford College forever changed my life for the better,” he recalls fondly.

After earning degrees from Tarleton State University and a doctorate from the University of North Texas, Dr. Farmer worked in the Texas A&M University system for over a decade. His most recent position was a coveted spot as the Tarleton State University Chief of Staff and a tenured graduate professor in the field of educational administration.

“I was approaching retirement eligibility,” he explains. “I thought that coming home to Weatherford College for a few years would provide me with the opportunity to give back

ARTICLE AND PHOTOGRAPHY

to an institution that had given me so much. My colleagues thought that I was absolutely crazy to give up a tenured position in one of the most respected university systems in the country to come to a community college. I can now say it was one of the greatest decisions of my life.”

It was a move that has greatly impacted the community of Weatherford. Dr. Farmer has championed first-time college attendees and those who might not have been able to afford college otherwise—perhaps glimpsing a bit of himself in these students.

“A staggering 88% of our students now receive grants or scholarships,” he shares. “Our bachelor’s degrees cost less than half the price of the most affordable university-based bachelor’s programs. I am passionately committed to providing our students with the opportunity to earn a high-quality degree at an affordable price.”

During his eight-year stint as president of Weatherford College, Dr. Farmer has incorporated the current state maximum of five

bachelor’s degrees. The school has also added high-tech workforce and allied health programs, including cardiac sonography, cyber security, robotics, and automation engineering. And the expansion will continue.

Over the next decade, Dr. Farmer and his team intend to petition the state to remove their cap on degree count. This plan to dramatically expand educational opportunities for students would also increase the supply of highly qualified workers required by the thriving Parker County business community.

“I am especially excited about our graduate degree partnerships with prestigious universities from across the country,” Dr. Farmer discloses. “Students may now earn master’s degrees and even doctorates without ever leaving Weatherford. For

example, through a partnership with The University of Texas at Arlington, bachelor’s students may earn a PhD in Nursing from UTA without ever leaving Weatherford. Additionally, our newest partnership with The University of North Texas Health Science Center allows our joint students to become physicians in a total of seven years.”

It’s a remarkable feat. But, for Dr. Farmer, the greatest accomplishment of all comes from the caliber of his team and the individuals graduating from the college.

“Weatherford College is a place where ordinary people do extraordinary things,” he says. “One cannot truly understand just how unique this special place is until you become a part of our family. If a student is willing to work hard, that student can change their life at Weatherford College.”

A DRIVE THROUGH TIME

Step Inside Weatherford’s Vintage Car Museum, Where Classic Cars, Rich History, and Rare Finds Bring the Past Roaring Back to Life

Just off the square in downtown Weatherford is a piece of history. Located at 100 Fort Worth Highway, the Vintage Car Museum offers a unique exhibition and the chance to take a trip into the past.

Tom Moncrief (left) and Sam Pack
1939 Alvis

Owner Tom Moncrief shares how his love of classic cars developed at an early age. “Ever since I was a kid, I was interested in mechanics—how things work and why, and how you can improve on it. This museum has been a dream since I was a teenager.”

His passion for vintage vehicles is shared by many, making the Vintage a well-loved part of the community for over a decade.

“When we hit ten years (after opening), I couldn’t believe that it had been ten years,” says Shana Akins, Director and Curator of the Vintage.

Moncrief originally intended to open a vintage car museum in Fort Worth. However, circumstances ultimately led to the project moving further west to the heart of Weatherford.

The buildings that now house the Vintage were originally fueling stations that had been abandoned for some time.

“Someone had said, ‘You know, you should make your museum look like an old gas station,’” Moncrief recalls. “When they said that, I immediately thought of these buildings. I thought, ‘That’s it. That’s the perfect place for a museum.’”

Inside, guests will find rooms of beautiful classic cars, including American-made vehicles, like a Ford

Model T, a Studebaker Commander, and an eye-catching Broadmoor SkyView Cadillac—and even popular foreign models such as the English-produced Alvis.

Other attractions in the museum boast rather famous ties. The LaSalle Taxi on display was used in the 2001 film Pearl Harbor. A 1941 Packard is documented as appearing in The Godfather. A second Packard, this model a 1941 Clipper, once belonged to country music legend George Jones.

There are also several vehicles with a political history, including a 1964 Lincoln Continental that belonged to President Lyndon B. Johnson. Guests can also admire two limousines: one used by Russian politician Mikhail Gorbachev, and the other from the days of President Bill Clinton’s administration. This newest addition to the museum is the only fully-armored presidential limousine to ever be released for public auction, as well as one of Moncrief’s personal favorites. He acquired the limo in 2025 with the help of fellow collector Sam Pack.

As Moncrief’s collection grows, the Vintage Car Museum remains an attractive destination–for tourists and residents alike.

COWORKING, COMMUNITY, AND CONNECTION IN WILLOW PARK

ARTICLE BY REBEKAH GIDDENS | PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED

Kings Gate Offers a Refined Workspace for Parker County’s Entrepreneurs and Remote Professionals

Work schedules have changed dramatically over the last several years, with more companies and working professionals choosing hybrid or fully remote work locations. This development played a big part in the creation of Kings Gate Coworking Space.

“At Kings Gate, we believe in the power of connection,” says Josh Wilks, the company’s Executive Senior Vice President. “Our name draws inspiration from the King’s Gate of biblical times, a place where people gathered to conduct business, exchange ideas, and build community. That same spirit shapes everything we do.”

Situated on the second floor of The District at Willow Park, this sleek, luxurious office space creates a consistent professional atmosphere for remote and hybrid workers or small business owners who operate their companies out of their homes.

Kings Gate boasts a welcoming atmosphere that inspires productivity and ideation—the perfect combination for meetings with clients or team gatherings. With an all-inclusive membership that offers unlimited access to a spacious lounge, Kings Gate helps members keep things professional.

“Working at Kings Gate offers a sense of separation and structure that’s hard to replicate at home or in a coffee shop,” Wilks says. “Kings Gate is intentionally designed for productivity and focus.”

Members receive credits each month to put towards added features like conference rooms and the use of printers and copiers.

Other popular perks of joining Kings Gate are the fast and reliable Wi-Fi, unlimited coffee bar, discounts on professional headshots, and the indoor golf simulator. Access to the outdoor patio allows members to step away from answering emails and phone calls for a breath of fresh air. Add in the proximity to green space, walking trails, and nearby dining, and Kings Gate is the ideal location to get down to business.

And it isn’t only members who benefit from this coworking space. In addition to day passes that offer the convenience of a professional office set-up for an eight-hour day, Kings Gate also offers a Virtual Mailbox service for both those with memberships and non-members. This allows small business owners to have their business shipments sent directly to Kings Gate, where they will be securely stored until pickup.

As far as the perfect location for a coworking space, there was no better place than Parker County.

“We saw something missing and wanted to bring it right to everyone’s backyards without having to travel into Fort Worth,” Wilks explains. “Parker County has so many entrepreneurs, small business owners, and remote professionals, but they don’t always have a central place to plug in. By creating a space where people can work alongside each other, share ideas, and build relationships, we’re helping foster that sense of community.”

For those who are on the fence about joining a coworking space, Wilks says, “Just come try it for a day. There’s something about being in a space where everyone is focused and motivated that helps you get into a better rhythm. Most people are surprised by how much more productive and energized they feel.”

As Kings Gate continues to grow, Members can look forward to after-hours workshops, networking events, and casual gatherings, giving them the chance to develop professional and community connections. Wilks shares that the future direction will also include new amenities as the coworking space aims to keep up with the evolving needs of its members.

“The goal is for Kings Gate to not just be a place you work,” he emphasizes, “but a place that actively supports your growth and the growth of our community overall.” kingsgatetx.com

SUMMER GRILL

RECIPES

THESE DELICIOUS RECIPES ARE LIGHT, BRIGHT AND FEEL LIKE SUMMER

The sun has returned, and grilling season is upon us. With the nice weather comes vegetable gardens and fresh produce, along with the overwhelming desire to be outside as much as possible. We’ve compiled some fresh and light dishes that you can shop for at your local farmers market and whether you’re looking for a quick mid-week meal or something to grill for a crowd on the weekend these dishes won’t disappoint. These pair well together or can stand on their own!

DIRECTIONS:

1. Place skirt steak into gallon freezer bag

2. Combine all other ingredients in bowl and mix. Pour over steak and marinate for 3-4 hours or overnight in the fridge.

3. Bring skirt steak to room temperature by letting it sit out for one hour.

4. Get your grill hot on one side and medium on the other.

5. Once the grill is ready, wipe excess marinade off steak. Starting on the hot side, place skirt steak on grill for 2 minutes per side, attaining a nice sear.

6. Transfer steak to the cooler side of grill and cook until the internal temp is 130°. Let rest for 10 minutes (temp will rise while resting).

7. Carve and serve. This dish pairs well with beans and rice or served as tacos. Following is a chimichurri sauce that compliments it nicely.

*Outside skirt steak is a more tender cut than inside skirt steak, for this recipe outside skirt is recommended. Do not use too much lime as the citrus can cook the meat before putting it on the grill, resulting in a tougher texture.

SIMPLE SKIRT STEAK

INGREDIENTS:

• 2lbs. Outside skirt steak*

• 2 Tablespoons lime*

• 2 Tablespoons finely,

chopped cilantro

• ¼ Cup olive oil or avocado oil

• ¼ White onion, finely chopped

• 1 Tablespoon cumin

• Salt and pepper to taste

CHIMICHURRI

INGREDIENTS:

• ½ Cup parsley, finely chopped

• ½ Cup cilantro, finely chopped

• 2 Tablespoons red wine vinegar

• 3 Cloves garlic, minced

• 1 Red chili (whole or deseeded depending on desired level of heat)

• ½ Teaspoon dried oregano

• 1 Teaspoon salt

• 1 Tablespoon lime juice (optional)

DIRECTIONS:

Combine all ingredients in a bowl. You can make this in the late morning and let it sit for around 4-6 hours, or you can make it the day before and let the flavors meld overnight in the fridge. Just be sure to take it out and get it to room temp before you serve it, as olive oil hardens in the fridge. Serve over skirt steak or tacos.

ROASTED CORN SALSA

INGREDIENTS:

• 2 Ears sweet corn

• 10oz. Cherry tomatoes

• ¼ Cup lime juice

• 1 Finely chopped jalapeno or serrano (whole or deseeded depending on desired level of heat)

• ¼ Cup cilantro, finely chopped

• ½ Cup white onion, chopped

• 2 Cloves garlic, minced

• Salt to taste

DIRECTIONS:

1. Grill corn, you do not need to soak the corn beforehand.

2. Place corn on the grill (inside their husks) over medium heat turning every few minutes.

3. After 10 to 12 minutes shuck the corn and put the cobs back on the grill for 2-4 minutes rotating frequently to achieve that charred look and flavor.

4. Cut the corn from the cob, place in bowl and add all other ingredients. Let the mixture meld for about an hour and serve with tortilla chips or as a taco garnish.
