September is known as the fashion and style month in the magazine world, and are thrilled to participate in the trend. Yes, fashion that will help keep you on top of the latest but remember, styles are ever-changing, and the fashion world continuously brings us a new take on something from generations past or shares an entirely new concept for us to enjoy. Each decade has its own unique trends, and although some cycle back decades later, the originality of each look that is reflected oftentimes is connected to the culture and music of the day. Life was different when I was young. At least for our family. We couldn’t typ ically afford the latest fashions but my mom did what she could. I was either about 3 years behind a trend or, wore an imitation. A perfect example of this was when OP (Ocean Pacific) bathing suits became big in the mid-80’s. They weren’t cheap. So my mom got me the next best thing...in her opinion. She came home with an OA (Ocean Atlantic) bathing suit for me. I got laughed at every time I wore it. That’s ok though as those times taught me to appreciate a more classic style and less so the passing trends. To keep you out of your own version of OA’s, we have brought you the three L’s of fashion: Lisa, Lynn, and Lindsay. Lisa owns Charlotte’s Web in Towaco and will not only make you look hip and chic but also help you gain the con fidence you need to take a step forward in life. Lynn is a fashion icon who has outfitted many of today’s and yesterday’s biggest celebrities yet she is so down to earth, she makes you feel like the star. Then we have Lindsay, whom many of you know as our own social media manager. She takes you on her journey of how she became a social media fashion influencer, how it evolved, and what it takes to turn it into an income-generating love affair. Fashion choices can reveal a little bit of our personality, so it is a great way to express ourselves. So follow your own style, and we’ll see you around town.

“I wanted to add to the town’s soul,” explains Lisa. “There was a vibe that was missing and we found that this was really what people around here wanted.”
Women come in who have had cancer treatments and their bodies have changed. Some who have suffered unspeakable loss and need to restore themselves. They come here for Lisa. They come here for Aimee. They come here because this is where they will feel better after they’ve been here.
There are magical stories that happen here. Like the one woman who came in, overwhelmed and stressed, because she was going to meet her long lost twin sister for the first time. It turns out that they’d been separated for some covert sociolog ical experiment years before, splitting the girls up to study the result of their disparate upbringings. One would be placed in a well-to-do home out West, while this girl would be raised here in far more modest circumstances.

People come in who have had massive weight loss successes. “They need that confidence, that special attention,” Lisa’s right-hand, Aimee, points out. “They’re looking for that spe cial attention. ‘Does this really look OK on me?’ ‘Am I OK to wear this yet?’, they’re looking for our honest opinion. We also had people who had gained weight during Covid, and they wanted things that would still make them feel confident. So it goes both ways.”

“I have a thing about kindness,” Lisa shares. “That kind word or kind gesture to make someone feel so much better about them selves, it just does so much.” This energy comes off of her like a wave. It’s Becauseauthentic.ofthis, the boutique is committed to helping give back to the community. They organize fundraisers. They donate proceeds from the store to local people and families who need it most, whether it’s for mental health, people facing cancer, sui cide prevention — things that touch real people’s lives. Charlotte’s Web’s influence doesn’t end at their door.
But that calling to help people better themselves remained. She traded legal advice for retail therapy, and she was reborn.
While this store is trend-forward and modern, it’s not as simple as that. It’s not just about selling the clothes. It’s really humanity, with a side of fashion. People come in to update their style, but they leave with a new sense of themselves. And a new friend. “I went to Paris when I was sixteen and that changed my life. I saw that all things are possible at every age. Fashion is always evolving, but so is technology and business practices. Large brands, companies, and small businesses are now reaching out via social media to influ encers to promote their products and build exposure.
It all started with a simple post on Instagram back in 2015. I got flooded with comments and DMs about the out fits that I had put together. From that point on, I knew how to spread my love of fashion and styling all over the world. Lindsay’s Lookbook was created. My page has been reinvented several times now, as con tent creators must be flexible and willing to learn when social media platforms change. We must adjust to have an impact and become successful. Social media has played an important role in the reinvention process. Simple things like hashtags and fun captions weren’t really a pri ority back in 2015, however, now they can open the door for content creators. Today, social media platforms have call to actions: likes, links, making reels, being able to tag and repost companies and their content, engage in other pages by sharing and saving posts. Social media has come a long way since 2015. It’s also gone a long way for small busi ness owners where they can set up shop on their social media platforms and buyers can access their stores via their pages. Lindsay’s Lookbook was influenced by so many people. Friends, family, and bloggers that I looked up to gave me the push that I needed in order to earn income from being a content creator.
Apps such as Like to Know It and Amazon Storefronts have given Influencers ready platforms to contribute to. Becoming brand ambassadors give fashion creators a chance to earn money from their posts, doing what they love while expanding their horizons.
Influencer events have become more popular and now most companies are using social media during those events to enhance the experience for their followers and customers. A few influencers have become so popular that now they are invited to host red carpet events or have even become the face of companies. Typically, this would happen only for movie and television stars. Social media has opened up doors for those who also benefit from a second source of income. This is why I love social media so much, everything you need is accessible through your fingertips — your freshly painted fingertips.

In honor of this, I have brought you a long-standing favorite in multi-gen erations of Barone households — Frank Barone's Famous Oven Baby Backs! No one said simple can't be stellar! EARNING YOU THAT SEAT AT THE HEAD OF THE TABLE •INGREDIENTSRack(s)Baby Back Ribs • Salt • Pepper • Oregano • Garlic Powder • Your Favorite BBQ Sauce 1.DIRECTIONSPreheatthe oven to 425 degrees. 2. Mix all spices together in a bowl. 3. Completely coat all sides of the rib rack. 4. Place the rib rack in a non-stick foillined sheet pan (or spray some cooking oil on standard foil) . 5. Cook in the oven for 1 hour, flipping every 20 minutes. 6. After 1 hour, lightly brush bbq sauce on all sides of the rib rack. 7. Cook another 15-25 minutes (till your pre ferred level of “done”- checking every 5-10 minutes to make sure you don’t burn them). 8. Know that you’ve made Frank proud! 34
