Clark has taught two-, three- and four-year classes, many years teaching two classes for a total of over 1,000 children. Clark's children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren have attended the school. Pledger taught in the 5K class her first year and then moved to a 4K class where she Debbie Pledger

has remained for the past 29 years, seeing almost 500 children come through her classroom. Both ladies have even taught the children of some of their former students! The “grown-ups” have loved having their children be in the class with the teacher they remember and love.

They both agree their greatest reward is the hugs and the “I love you” cards and smiles they receive daily. The ABCs and 1-2-3s they have taught the children is a bonus. They are both native to Smyrna. Clark plans to remain in Smyrna and Pledger is relocating to Florida.

What’s Coming to the Cora Lee Institute This Summer? Parent Workshops: Beginning June 2017, parents are invited to attend a series of workshops with Dr. Lightfoot, Ph.D. Workshops will focus on parenting, children and behavioral difficulties, advocacy and the schools, neurodevelopmental disorders, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, anxiety, coping with childhood psychiatric disorders, and other related topics. Social Skills Summer Camps: Social skills camps are designed to target various age groups and address social skills needs with a research-based approach using innovative activities that are both “fun” and also utilize grade level appropriate standards to reinforce learning. Q: Do we seriously recommend the first dental visit at age one?

A: Absolutely! Every single week I meet a 2-3 year old with tooth decay and it breaks my heart every time. Our options are limited at this point and it’s hard on everyone involved. Often times, these preschoolers live in households with parents who genuinely care about a healthy lifestyle. However, dental issues tend to go under the radar when we are busy with life. All of these families wished they knew about this recommendation and made an appointment earlier. Some were even misguided by trusted friends in medicine and dentistry. Are my headaches coming from my neck? The root cause of migraine and tension headaches is often Cervicogenic, which means a headache caused by the neck. Misalignment of the atlas (C1) and axis (C2) at the junction of the head and neck is the most common cause of cervicogenic headaches. The result of neck misalignment is nerve pressure and muscle spasm, which can trigger a headache at the base of the skull or temples. The first goal in treating headaches is correcting the balance between the head and neck. One simple test is to run your fingers along the base of your skull. If you feel tension at the upper part of your neck, that is a great sign that your headaches are coming from your neck. Another test is to look in the mirror and see if your head is tilting to one side. If you have head tilt, your head and neck are likely misaligned and that could be causing your headaches.
