Dear Reader,
I hope this letter finds you in high spirits and full of creative energy.
Today, I want to take a moment to celebrate and explore the fascinating world of style. Style is not limited to the clothes we wear or the way we adorn ourselves; it encompasses every aspect of our lives. From the way we decorate our homes to the music we listen to, from the books we read to the way we carry ourselves in conversations, style permeates every facet of our existence. It is the thread that weaves together the tapestry of our lives.
Style is deeply personal. And it evolves as we celebrate our quirks, our passions, and our desires. Style is a form of self-expression that communicates who we are, how we perceive the world and what we value. In this way, style becomes a powerful tool for connection, as it enables us to find common ground with others who share our aesthetic sensibilities.
As individuals, we have the freedom to embrace established styles, blend them together, or forge entirely new paths, becoming trendsetters ourselves. We hope this issue inspires you to forge new paths or perhaps explore familiar ones. There is so much here in Tulsa to uplift our spirits, boost your productivity and ignite your creativity.
What I’ve found is that the best style is an authentic expression of who you really are. And that’s something no one on earth can duplicate.

Tracing separate property or assets in a divorce can be an important issue for lots of individuals. Take a situation where somebody has a 401k or IRA before marriage. They have put money into this account before marriage.
They then get married. After marriage, they continue to contribute to this 401k or IRA. At this point, pre-marital separate funds and marital funds are being mixed.
The parties then file for divorce. In these situations, the one spouse is often asking that the entire 401k or IRA be divided in the divorce. The spouse who had funds in these accounts before marriage argues that the pre-marital por-
tion should be set aside to them entirely. And they argue that only the funds put in during the marriage should be divided through the divorce.
The reality, however, is that the separate funds need to be traced out from the account. This often requires a forensic accountant reviewing statements and doing an analysis to determine the amount that was in these accounts during the marriage.
At a minimum, parties may need to subpoena the statements from the date of the marriage to try to determine the amount that was in there. However, it can often be hard to obtain statements at the exact date of the marriage.
In addition to 401ks or IRAs, tracing can be important for other assets like bank
accounts, investment accounts, whole life insurance policies, and other assets where a party might have built up cash value before marriage. In some instances, a party might consider having a prenuptial agreement drafted before getting married.

When we need to be away from home for a few days for surgery or other medical treatment, our support system of family and friends takes care of things in our absence. They check our mail, water plants, and most important, care for our beloved pets. Now, imagine needing a few days of medical care and being homeless with a beloved pet. Being homeless is a primary barrier preventing those pet owners from receiving care.
In 2018, Pause4Paws, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, began arranging short-term foster care for pets of Tulsans impacted by homelessness, mental illness, and addiction. The goal is to break down the barriers associated with animal ownership so that people can go inpatient for addiction recovery/detox, mental health treatment, or medical care.
Executive Director Clara Ndiraya started as a Pause4Paws foster three years ago. “We opened our home as a way to give back to the community. As a foster, we care for a pet as if it were our own, providing food, water, exercise, and plenty of TLC.” Last year Pause4Paws interacted with more than 20 agencies referring pet owners needing hospital or treatment center care. Clara said, “So far in 2023, we’ve exceeded all the services provided last year.”
This opens opportunities to help Pause4Paws by attending and sponsoring their 5th annual fundraiser, Trivia for a Cause, coming up Wednesday, October 25th from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the OU Founders Hall, 4502 E. 41st St, Tulsa. Clara said, “We’re hosting a competitive game of Trivia in conjunction with a silent auction and dessert auction. The proceeds helps Pause4Paws facilitate pet foster care for pet owners who have been referred by an approved agency or organization that helps individuals experiencing homelessness, mental illness or addiction receive necessary emergency services that they could not otherwise receive.”
Please call 918-829-9811 to sponsor Trivia for a Cause or visit pause4pawsok.org .

NEW EXHIBIT FEATURES TWO ARTISTS WITH DIFFERENT VIEWS OF THE SKY
Anyone who has lived in the Great Plains knows that clouds have a language — at turns angry, peaceful or even whimsical.
How people hear that language is the subject of a new exhibit at Holland Hall’s Holliman Gallery. It is free and open to the public and runs Aug. 25 to Oct. 12.
Cloudscape oil painters David Holland and Marc Barker will feature ten 3-foot by 4-foot canvases — five by each painter — interspersed side by side on the 50-foot feature wall. The artists used the same size canvases and even the same horizon to unify the starkly different ways to interpret “The Language of Clouds.”
David’s work is based on accuracy and realism while Marc’s is based on spontaneous emotion. Both paint in oil, but Marc’s work is in charcoal and sepia tones while David’s is in full color. David works from photographs of storms and works to achieve a realistic representation of them, while Marc creates his clouds in the actual moment he
puts brush to the canvas and knows by his own emotional response to what he sees that he has achieved his final image.
According to the artists: “Clouds speak a language that all of us hear, some hear it softly and some hear it loud and clear. Clouds speak for themselves, no translation necessary. It’s a broad language that transcends all borders, races, sexes and mentalities. Marc and David have been listening closely and have found their own voices in the Language of Clouds.
“Having seen both David and Marc’s work, I was hoping they might be interested in exhibiting their work,” said Holland
Hall Fine Arts Teacher and Holliman Gallery Coordinator Byron Shen. “With the help of my friend, Randy Marks from the Oklahoma City Arts Council, David, Marc and I were able to discuss a possible exhibition. Holland Hall is delighted to display their artistry and share it with our immediate school and surrounding Tulsa community.”
A free public opening reception for the artists is set for 6-8 p.m. August 31 in the Holliman Gallery of the Walter Art Center, 5666 E. 81st St., Tulsa, OK, 74137. It is open to the public, but you may also RSVP by calling 918-481-1111.
SYMPTOMS OF PTSD AND PAIN WITH THE STELLATE GANGLION INJECTION
ARTICLE BY HEATHER KNIFE CHIEFLiving with PTSD or chronic pain can be debilitating – both can have incredibly harmful effects on both physical and emotional well-being. And while many treatment options are available, one innovative and promising procedure is making waves: the Stellate Ganglion Injection. At Inspire Med Spa Tulsa, patients are finding relief and renewed hope through the expert administration of this procedure. The clinic’s experienced physician employs cutting-edge techniques to alleviate a range of symptoms and improve patients' quality of life.
At Inspire Med Spa Tulsa, innovative treatments like the Stellate Ganglion Injection begin with comprehensive, personalized care. Located in Midtown, Inspire Med Spa and its highly skilled, compassionate team of professionals have earned a stellar reputation for high-quality care. Throughout the treatment process, the clinic's friendly and empathetic staff members create a supportive atmosphere, alleviating patient anxiety and fostering open communication. From the moment patients step into the clinic to their post-treatment follow-ups, they receive unwavering support, making the entire process as seamless as possible.
The Stellate Ganglion Injection itself is a specialized procedure involving an injection into the stellate ganglion, a cluster of nerves in the neck. This inhibits the sympathetic nervous system's activity, providing pain relief and therapeutic benefits for certain conditions, including PTSD. The procedure is commonly used to treat conditions such as complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), postherpetic neuralgia, and vascular disorders that affect the upper extremities.
Inspire Med Spa’s success in administering the Stellate Ganglion Injection is attributable to its highly skilled physician, Dr. Sarah Knife Chief. She is not only well-versed in the medical field’s latest advancements, but also prioritizes patients’ comfort and safety throughout the treatment process. Dr. Knife Chief served as a major in the U. S. Army and sympathizes with the needs of veterans as they navigate struggles like PTSD, anxiety, and depression. Her background as an orthopedic surgeon and army veteran motivated her to expand the medical spa’s services to include Stellate Ganglion Injections.
Every patient's pain experience is unique, and at Inspire Med Spa Tulsa, individualized care plans are the cornerstone of our practice. Before proceeding with any treatment, the team conducts a thorough evaluation of the patient's medical history, pain symptoms, and overall health. This holistic approach ensures that the treatment aligns with each patient’s specific needs.
Testimonials from patients who have undergone the Stellate Ganglion Injection speak volumes about the procedure’s transformative impact. Many have reported significant pain relief, improved function, and a restored sense of hope after years of struggling with chronic pain and PTSD.
Inspire Med Spa Tulsa has emerged as a beacon of hope for individuals burdened with chronic pain, anxiety, and depression. The clinic’s expert administration of the Stellate Ganglion Injection and patient-centered approach are demonstrating that relief is within reach. As the medical community continues to explore this innovative treatment’s potential, Inspire Med Spa Tulsa remains at the forefront, dedicated to transforming lives and helping patients reclaim their quality of life. If you or someone you know is grappling with chronic pain, anxiety, or PTSD, Inspire Med Spa Tulsa might be the answer you've been seeking.

Most of us can say we have that one staple black dress that can be worn at any occasion, and the classic look is not only popular but is elegant and timeless. It is one of the most versatile items we own, never goes out of style and looks good on anyone. But how did this classic look originate?
Prior to the 1920’s, black was reserved for funeral wear, but when Coco Channel made the bold move to print a short, black dress on the cover of Vogue in 1926, all of that changed. The popularity of the black dress skyrocketed, and it became one of the most influential pieces of clothing. Because of its affordability, black remained a popular choice during The Great Depression. The black dress had another boom in popularity when “Breakfast at Tiffany’s’’ debuted, and Audrey Hepburn showcased her iconic black dress with long, black gloves.
We enlisted the help of stylist, Amani Skalacki, to show us how versatile the little black dress can be. “We usually think of the little black dress as a piece you wear to an event. However, because black is so flattering on all body types and skin tones, women have multiple black dresses from casual to evening,” Amani says.
“A sequin dress can be dressed up with heels, or that same dress can be transformed into a casual outfit with the addition of tennis shoes and an oversized blazer or a denim jacket. Transform that strappy dress you have been wearing all summer into an outfit that is perfect for chilly fall temperatures. Add a narrow scarf, a leather jacket and sandals or a tall pointy boot, and you have a whole new look for an evening out,” Amani adds.
If you have a dress in the back of your closet that you haven’t worn in years, don’t be afraid to dust it off and give it new life.
Are you looking for the best cut or style of dress that works best for your body type?
