Meet The Nelsens

Hollywood has always been synonymous with blockbuster movie and television studios, actors, directors, entertainers and celebrities. But far from Hollywood Boulevard and its Walk of Fame, Eric and Sainty Nelsen are doing more than just helping put the burgeoning North Texas television and film industry on the map. Along with their two children, Molly Morgan and Mick, the 7-time Emmy award winners are planting their roots here and calling it home. Trophy West City Lifestyle was fortunate to sit down with Sainty to give our readers a small glimpse behind the scenes of their family’s day to day life.

TWCL: HOW DID YOU AND ERIC MEET?

Sainty: We actually met at Blockheads in New York City. I was sitting at lunch with his cousin, Tess Soltau, the current star of “Once Upon a Time” on Broadway. She said her cousin was coming to pick up a set of keys. Well, this blonde 19 year old skater boy skated up and that was it. It was love at first sight… for me. I never really believed in marriage and starting a family and the moment I met Eric, my whole future flashed in front of me.

TWCL: HOW DID YOU GET INTO ACTING AND VOICEOVER WORK?

Sainty: I actually started acting at 3 years old at a professional theatre in Fort Worth called Casa Manana. From there, I studied under Victoria Bussert at Baldwin Wallace College, one of the top musical theater programs. Students do a showcase in New York City at the end of their senior year. That is where I signed with an agent and everything began. While shooting the FX Pilot “Sex, Drugs & Rock n Roll”, Denis Leary was the one that suggested I get into the voiceover industry.

TWCL: CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR TWO CHILDREN, MOLLY MORGAN AND MICK?

Sainty: Oh my goodness gracious, I could go on and on and on for years about my children. They are the loves of my life. Molly Morgan is 3 years old and the kindest young lady. She is so gentle and amazing. Mick is a 1 year old beast! He is huge, which is ironic because he was diagnosed with pyloric stenosis at 3 months old.

TWCL: YOU AND ERIC HAVE WON 7 EMMY AWARDS BETWEEN THE TWO OF YOU, WHAT WAS THE REACTION WHEN YOU FOUND OUT THAT YOU WON YOUR FIRST ONE?

Sainty: It was truly the wildest, most amazing shock of our lives! He is the youngest male and I’m the youngest female, which is crazy exciting. We both each still hold the title. Crazy story, Eric & myself were nominated for Tony Awards for “The Inheritance”. We were due soon with our son Mick, so we were unable to attend. September 26th, we both WON a Tony and 12 hours later, our son Mick was born. We maybe should have named him Tony!

TWCL: WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE HOBBIES OR ACTIVITIES TO DO WITH YOUR KIDS?

Sainty: They call me the Queen of Grapevine Mills Mall. I go once a week. We first have lunch at the Rainforest Cafe, then we hit up Peppa Pig Land (it's unbelievable!) and finish our day at LegoLand.

TWCL: WITH YOUR WORK SCHEDULES AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS, DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS OR SUGGESTIONS YOU CAN GIVE US ON HOW YOU MAKE TIME FOR EACH OF YOUR KIDS INDIVIDUALLY AS WELL AS A FAMILY?

Sainty: I would just say, our kids come first no matter what. Thank goodness for Facetime! Eric is able to talk to the kids constantly. We try to make sure our schedules are on at different times, if one of us is away filming, the other parent is always home.

TWCL: IT WOULDN’T BE AN INTERVIEW WITHOUT ASKING YOU ABOUT YOUR ROLE AS THE VOICE OF PILLOW CAT IN “GABBY’S DOLLHOUSE” AND ERIC’S ROLE AS ENNIS IN THE YELLOWSTONE PREQUEL, “1883”. HOW DID YOU GET CAST FOR THOSE ROLES AND WHAT WAS YOUR REACTION WHEN YOU RECEIVED THE NEWS THAT YOU GOT THE PART?

Sainty: I received the script for “Gabby’s Dollhouse” back in 2018. It was the creators of “Blue’s Clues,” so I knew it was bound to be a hit! When I got the call after my audition, I WAS OVER THE MOON! I have had 2 children while filming. If you check out my Instagram there is actually a picture of me recording Gabby’s Dollhouse under the sink, for voice control, at the hospital after my c-section! As for Eric and “1883”, we were staying in Texas at the time since it was COVID and we wanted to be around family. He had auditioned for the role of Wade from LA, when they immediately came back a few hours later and had him re-do his tape and read for the role of Ennis. We were actually on our babymoon

with Mick when we received a call from his agent that THE TAYLOR SHERIDAN wanted to talk to him. We sped (safely) home from Austin and Taylor called him and said he wanted him for the role of Ennis. Our whole lives changed after that.

TWCL: DO MOLLY MORGAN AND MICK WATCH “GABBY’S DOLLHOUSE”, AND DO THEY RECOGNIZE OR UNDERSTAND THAT PILLOW CAT IS YOUR VOICE?

Sainty: YES! Molly Morgan even sometimes uses the line, “My mom’s pillow cat,” when trying to make new friends.

TWCL: WE HEARD THAT DURING ERIC’S TIME ON “1883”, YOUR KIDS CREATED ARTWORK FOR TIM MCGRAW AND FAITH HILL’S TRAILER. DO YOUR KIDS GET TO COME ON SET OFTEN OR EVER GET TO MEET OTHER ACTORS?

Sainty: Molly Morgan actually got to go to the infamous cowboy camp with Tim and Faith. They are the most incredible people on this earth. We love them deeply. Talk about couple goals! They are incredible people, actors, and most importantly INCREDIBLE parents! It will be funny to see my kid’s reactions to people they have gotten to meet and see when they are older. Right now, they just view different celebrities as mommy & daddy’s friends.

TWCL: ARE YOU INVOLVED IN ANY COMMUNITY OR GIVING PROJECTS?

Sainty: Yes! I am super involved with the Fort Worth community! I am on the board of the Fort Worth Film Society, the co-chair for the Cowgirl Museum, a supporter of The Worthy Co for The Net, and part of the Jewel Charity Ball, speaker of the Puttin’ on the Pink Luncheon and the Creel Foundation. The list goes on. We try to support many charities and foundations in Texas. If you go to my Instagram, Eric & myself were able to participate in the Cook Children’s Experience. It was life changing!

A MAGICAL EXPERIENCE

For every child with dreams and imagination, there's a magical world where princesses reign supreme. Bring that enchantment to life by booking a princess party from Wish For A Princess for an unforgettable experience that leaves lasting memories. Booking a princess party is the perfect way to celebrate your little one's special day, creating a realm of wonder and delight. From the moment your child's favorite princess steps through the door, their dreams come to life. By personalizing the experience, incorporating captivating activities, and creating an enchanting atmosphere, you ensure a celebration fit for royalty.

Wish For A Princess owner Larilyn Miles, who bought the business along with her husband in 2022, began her journey to princess party planning by working for theater operations at Disney before joining the Wish For A Princess staff as a princess herself. Now as owner of the company, she uses her passion for party planning and for all things magical to make those fairy tale dreams of all children come true.

PRINCESS PARTIES

“We know there may be times where like the birthday girl is a little more shy or reserved,” Larilyn says. “But our performers are trained to be able to make sure that they are still having enough magical moments without being overwhelmed by just the sheer attention of it all. In every situation where a child starts off really nervous or not wanting to interact, by the end they are interacting with the princesses. It’s something that we really want to make sure that all of our performers are conscious of, that not every child wants to be the center of attention.”

Larilyn says most of their business comes from big birthday parties, although they have also done quinceaneras and special events for small businesses. “One play place just reached out to us for the new Little Mermaid and some type of mermaid-themed game where you can bring your kids and could meet other parents and set up future play dates,” Larilyn says. “We have had quinceaneras, but most of our birthday parties kind of ranged between two and six years old. And while we don’t have a cut off for age and are happy to have older birthday princesses, the oldest we’ve had has been about seven years old. But we love doing those and private parties, so we’re open to both.”

Larilyn looks forward to the challenge of adding characters and performers, in order to continue growing and expanding her princess party kingdom. Her performers’ auditions start out with just an interview, along with a little clip of the performer singing a little clip of whatever their favorite princess song happens to be. The next step is for them to shadow a party, to make sure that it’s something that they would enjoy and be able to handle before getting started as a trainee and joining the team. Currently, Wish

For A Princess offers almost all of the traditional “princesses” that you would expect, with some of the newer princesses available in the coming months. They even offer two of their own signature characters, a birthday princess and a Fairy Godmother princess, who as Larilyn explains, typically attends most of the princesses’ parties anyway, but also has her own little story and background for when the children talk to her. And while the budding business was constructed to cater specifically to princesses, there are plans to expand to some superhero characters, with Spider-Man available starting in October.

Remember, the true magic lies in the joy and delight on your child's face as they embark on their own fairy tale adventure. So go ahead, embrace the magic by booking your little princess’s next party with Wish For A Princess, and unleash magical memories that will last a lifetime!

What You Need to Know About Summer Allergies

Many of us who suffer with springtime allergies look forward to the summer months as tree pollen season comes to an end in May, hoping the worst is over. But just as tree pollen levels taper, summer grasses bloom and spread their own microscopic pollen grains on the wind, causing those who are allergic to sneeze, sniffle or break out in hives. Then as grass pollen levels decline in August, weed pollens like ragweed and sage rise, often causing allergy attacks that leave us sneezing, with swollen itchy eyes, runny stuffy nose, and cough. Severe allergy symptoms

can slow us down just as families prepare for the back to school rush and sports teams start practice.

Summertime in Texas also brings high humidity leading to rising levels of both indoor and outdoor allergens including mold spores and dust mites (microscopic creatures that can live in carpet and bedding and can be dominant indoor allergens year-round). Consultation and testing with a board-certified allergist is the first step to managing allergies – many treatments including natural non-medication options

exist, and definitive desensitization with allergy shots and sublingual (under the tongue) allergen immunotherapy can help make summertime more enjoyable for those with environmental allergies.

Texas heat and sunny days can also create conditions that contribute to higher ozone levels. Pollution from vehicles and industry undergoes chemical changes in the sunlight releasing ozone which can trigger asthma attacks in those who are sensitive.

Although pollens are the biggest contributor to summer allergy symptoms, there is also a more dangerous allergy issue that some people face in the warmer months.

Pop up snow cone stands are a common feature of Texas summer, but we also face a less pleasant seasonal surge: FIRE ANTS! To some these are just an annoyance but to those with true fire ant allergy, a bite can be life threatening.

Severe allergic reactions to stinging insect attack cause >40 deaths per year in the US.

Up to 1% of children and 4% of adults experience serious life-threatening insect sting reactions at some point in their lives, including reactions to bee stings, wasp stings and ant bites. All these insects are more numerous and more active in the summer months.

Most of us have had the typical skin reactions to insect stings (including pain and swelling at the site of the bite or sting). Usually an ice pack, a little anti-itch cream, or even a dose of over the counter antihistamine is all we need to relieve the discomfort of stings.

Sometimes the swelling at the site of the sting can extend to a large part of a limb or body

area- allergists call that a large local reaction. Of those who experience these large local reactions, a few (4-10%) may be at increased risk of having a more severe reaction in the future.

Two kinds of reactions can occur after stings: toxic reactions and allergic reactions.

Toxic symptoms can occur as a result of the effects of the venom itself which can include pain, burning, swelling and even headache or fever. The risk of a dramatic toxic reaction is higher if a person is stung multiple times in the same day, but it also depends on individual sensitivity to the poison in the sting or bite. Allergic reactions happen because the immune system is already on high alert and reacts to even a small amount of the insect venom in a bite.

To minimize the effect of ant or bee stings, and reduce the dose of injected venom, it is important to remove the bee stinger from the body (which can be left embedded in the skin) with a soft scraping or brushing motion (use a card or a long fingernail). Once the stinger is removed, clean the sting area with warm soapy water and apply itch cream and ice pack. Ants can also stay attached (hanging on by their jaws) and can sting again if not brushed off! So if you see the culprit, remove it immediately by brushing it away (preferably without touching it with your hand as it can hang on and bite you again!)

While it’s good to be knowledgeable and prepared to handle stings in the moment, we should also know when to get tested to see if a true allergy exists. If you have any kind of dramatic

sting reaction, you should see an allergist and discuss it - sometimes it can be difficult to distinguish between a toxic or allergic reaction. If you or a family member has had any signs of anaphylaxis (a severe allergic reaction) -- these can include dizziness, trouble breathing, nausea/vomiting, all over body hives, throat/ face/ tongue swelling, or passing out – then call 911 and use an epinephrine auto injector if there is one available. If even a milder version of any one of these symptoms is present, a prompt evaluation is definitely required. Severe allergic reactions should be seen immediately in the ER or Urgent Care, and an allergist office

visit should be scheduled to follow-up and test in the next few weeks. If you're not sure if your past reaction warrants evaluation, we encourage you to call or come in for a consultation.

Those with allergies to insects can have cross sensitization reactions. That means someone who is allergic to bees can also become allergic to wasps. So it may be recommended to get tested to all of these if you have had a reaction to one type of insect.

If you are found to have an insect allergy, we prescribe an epinephrine autoinjector in case of a severe allergic reaction, and

for kids, we have a school reaction preparedness plan. We can offer venom immunotherapy (allergy shots) to desensitize you so that a bite or sting does not cause a life-threatening reaction. Venom Immunotherapy (VIT) has been shown to increase both safety and quality of life in people who are insect allergic. Those who undergo VIT report less anxiety and less lifestyle limitation than those with allergies trying to practice avoidance and anaphylaxis preparedness. VIT is especially recommended in Fire Ant allergy since these creatures are so difficult to avoid in our region. We can help you discover if you have an allergy to venomous insects.

Summer vacation, when kids are not in school is the perfect time to bring them to the allergy clinic for evaluation, testing and treatment. We treat all ages for many Allergy, Asthma & Immunology conditions, including Food and Environmental allergies, asthma, eczema, hives, autoimmune conditions, immunodeficiency, and gut microbiome disturbances. We at Holistic Allergy & Immunology can help your family have safe healthy summer and prepare you for back to school and the fall allergy season. Our unique approach offers tailored, integrative, precision healthcare for the whole family.

Giving Back

Supporting Pet Adoption Clinics Through Donations

Giving back to the community is a powerful way to create positive change, and supporting pet adoption clinics is a wonderful avenue to make a difference in the lives of animals in need.  When considering donations for pet clinics, it's essential to focus on items that can directly impact the welfare and comfort of the animals. Here are some supplies that are often in high demand:

1. Food and Treats: High-quality pet food and treats are always needed at adoption clinics. Donating dry or canned pet food, especially for specific dietary requirements, can make a significant difference in providing proper nutrition for the animals.

2. Bedding and Comfort Items: Comfortable bedding, blankets, and towels create a cozy and warm environment for the animals. These items help them feel secure and can alleviate stress during their time at the clinic.

3. Toys and Enrichment Items: Toys and enrichment items play a crucial role in the mental and physical well-being of animals. Donating toys that are safe, durable, and suitable for different sizes and breeds can provide stimulation and help alleviate boredom.

4. Cleaning Supplies: Maintaining a clean and hygienic environment is essential for the well-being of the animals. Donating cleaning supplies such as disinfectants, paper towels, trash bags, and pet-safe cleaning solutions can assist the clinic in maintaining a healthy environment.

5. Medications and Medical Supplies: Many pet adoption clinics operate on limited budgets. Donating medications, such as flea and tick treatments, as well as medical supplies like bandages, wound care products, and grooming tools, can help clinics address the medical needs of the animals under their care.

By donating essential supplies, we help these clinics continue their invaluable work and provide a second chance to our furry. We encourage you to find a local animal shelter and give back today!

Tap into your body’s innate healing potential.

ADHD, Autism, Sensory Challenges, & Anxiety are affecting our kids like never before… and we know how hard it can be as a parent trying to raise your child to be as well adapted as possible… constantly fighting against focus, sleep, digestive, and behavioral challenges. What if there was a way to improve their health, learning, behavior and quality of life naturally?

It all comes down to the Nervous System’s ability to handle stress and stimulus. Would you like to know for sure how healthy your child’s nervous system is? That’s where the breakthrough Insight Scanning technology comes in.

Scanning detects hidden patterns of damaging stress, tracks changes and then observes scans for improving trends by measuring HRV, EMG, and Thermography. It’s safe for kids & infants, takes 3 minutes, and will give you a visual report that will show you exactly where there is resolvable dysfunction in the nervous system that may be hurting your child’s ability to respond to stress and stimulus.

You would not believe the miraculous stories we hear from parents when they see their kid improving, adapting, & growing… AND they can visually see the changes in the re-scans!
