Ford + Elm proprietor, Porsche Poltl, is all about the community in her chosen city of Temecula. “I love it here. My why is community,” says the former teacher who opened her popular home goods and décor shop last year. “I wanted to create a place where people can come together, discover local artists and where friendships can be made. I care about the Earth and I am motivated by keeping things out of landfills and finding them another

Poltl’s popular 3000 square foot store, located in Temecula’s up and coming Uptown Arts District off Jefferson Avenue, carries a variety of home goods that are “California Casual in style and elevated yet approachable,” including furniture, lighting, textiles, home décor, candles, glass and barware, clean beauty products, a flower bar and one of a kind vintage pieces from around the world.
“I am inspired by European art and antiques, anything mid century or vintage – Danish, French, Belgian. My grandmother got me into antiques – she still had things from her grandmother. I’m a very sentimental person – I love the stories behind everything. I remember the very first piece I ever purchased – a chest of drawers. And I still have my great grandmother’s wedding dress.”
Poltl searches high and low for the carefully curated items in her shop. “I spend at least 10 days every year at the international
antiques fair in Round Top, Texas. Every time I go, I’m so overwhelmed by the amount and variety of items they have there. Then I’ll see something that inspires me and I’ll start buying,” she laughs.
Poltl credits her husband, a loan officer, for his support of her thriving business. “I fly out to Austin in mid January and spend my time looking for beautiful, unusual pieces, shopping, making deals and then

my husband flies out to meet me. He picks up all my purchases, packs them up and then drives them back home in a trailer while I fly home,” she chuckles. “He’s a wonderful supporter of my business. It works really well.”
In addition to showcasing the work of more than 15 local artists in her shop, Potl says, “I’m also very excited about our partnership with Lee Industries. “We are
one of only a handful of locations that can offer clients made to order sofas, chairs, ottomans and dining chairs from this renowned and well respected company –and all their products are made right here in the USA.”
After originally planning to name her shop after her two sons, Poltl had to regroup. “When I told my boys I wanted to name my shop after them, they said ‘No way, mom!’” Poltl laughs. “So I really thought about it and instead I chose two streets that I lived on during important times in my life - Elm Court in Mission Viejo where I grew up and Medford Road in Temecula where I raised my kids.” And Ford + Elm was born. And others are taking note. “Our Instagram is taking off and we have a devoted and growing clientele - everyone from designers to professional moto riders and their wives - and others who just come in for inspiration.”
“Many of my very design-forward clients have been driving to LA and San Diego to shop for elevated design pieces. We’ve got some really great interior designers, crafts and tradespeople and artists right here in Temecula,” Poltl says. We have it all in Temecula. I want to tell the world, ‘We’re here! No need to go anywhere else!’”

POPULAR MEAL PREP COMPANY DONATES 125+ MEALS
EACH WEEK TO LOCAL FOOD PANTRY
““I always thought it was such a waste that so much unsold food just went in the trash.”
Local residents have been enjoying delicious and healthy premade meals from Guiltless Food Company since former pro athlete turned nutritionist Tyler Kalisiak opened his doors in 2020. “We have many long term clients who love that we save them time by providing healthy, affordable portion controlled versions of restaurant classics,” Kalisiak says. “What really sets us apart is that all our sauces are housemade from scratch and our customer service is amazing. And all our meals – except for vegan – are gluten free.”
Guiltless Food Company offers a large variety of reasonably priced menu options and routinely rotates the menu to keep diners interested. "Our target market is anyone in Riverside County who values their time and health. You don't need to figure out what's healthy or worry about portion control, and our meals average $13 an entree - lower than many restaurants and even fast food joints."
Allison Willits, Operations Director of Community Mission of Hope, is a big fan of Guiltless Food Co. “We are so thankful to Tyler for providing healthy food to people in need. Our families really appreciate being able to eat healthy meals that are fresh and delicious. Partnering with a business like Guiltless Food Company is a beautiful example of neighbors helping neighbors in our community.”
Kalisiak is grateful for his success in the community and has been looking for ways to give back. “I always thought it was such a waste that so much unsold food just went in the trash,” he says. “I really wanted to make a difference so last year we partnered with Community Mission of Hope – Rancho Damacitas.” Now, twice a week, Guiltless donates between 100-150 meals to the Temecula non profit that provides food and stable shelter to the less fortunate. "It feels amazing to help feed our community."
Every woman dreams of an organized and beautiful closet space, but it often comes last on the list of places that get their time and attention. Follow our nine tips for transforming and elevating your closet.
ARTICLE BY HALEY WILLIAMS | PHOTOGRAPHY BY CASSANDRA CASTANEDAHow you organize your closet will of course differ based on the size of your space, the size of your wardrobe, and the kind of life you lead. But applying these guidelines will result in a much more organized and aesthetically pleasing space.
It may seem silly, but when dealing with a small space, little things count. Hanging all clothes the same direction is a no-brainer for continuity in your closet.
Reserve the front and middle of the closet for clothes worn most often. For someone who gets dressed for work each morning at 6 a.m., work clothes should be at the front of the closet. Store lesser-worn items like formal wear and out-of-season clothes toward the back and on the upper shelves. A large mirror and counter with chair provides the perfect spot to select jewelry and finalize finishing outfit touches. While every closet is different, the key here is everything has a home.
Hidden storage is a game changer in keeping a closet visually clean. Tuck folded clothes behind closed cabinet doors if the space is multipurpose. The floor-toceiling built-ins in Keri’s closet contain folded clothes, athleisure and other items she needs as she gets ready each day. Tuck away the least-used items: Use hidden storage and the very top of the closet for out-of-season items and stuff only worn a few times a year.
Using space efficiently is important, but keep in mind every good design includes some negative space. For instance, consider adding built-ins on the long wall of your closet but keep the short wall open with a mirror.
Group clothes by kind first and color second. This ensures quick location of that favorite shirt when it’s needed. Bonus - it’s easy on the eye. Group like with like: Gather belts, sweaters, long-sleeve shirts, work pants, dresses, button-down shirts, jeans, shorts, etc., and decide the best place to store each item as a group (e.g., hang pants in the closet, fold and stack sweaters in a bureau). Working with groupings will help you figure out how much space you need and the best way to store each type of item.
The simplest and fastest way to make a BIG difference in your closet organization is to get matching hangers that go beyond the traditional plastic or wire hangers. And for sure ditch any with paper from the dry cleaner!
Alternate the way shoes are facing. This ultimately helps fit more on each row and provide a visually appealing way to display those prized possessions.
Everyone understands the frustration of searching for that one clutch when rushing out for the evening. Bags benefit from a space all their own. Get clear container storage for small bags and purses so you can locate and access them easily.
Why use an armchair when you have room for a sofa? Slide up a stool and colorful area rug to complete the look. If you have excessive wall space, consider a mini gallery wall or a statement wall with wallpaper to polish things off.

By way of wanting to be closer to the beach four years ago, Desiree found herself setting up a house in Temecula, while just two years ago, Sean found his home in Temecula while looking to shorten his daily commute. Different reasons brought them to this beautiful wine country and each other, but they both agreed they were home.
Sean introduced Desiree to City Lifestyle Magazine, and Desiree immediately knew that this luxury lifestyle publication was an opportunity for them to grow together.
Desiree and Sean take advantage of all that Temecula has to offer. They enjoy strolling together around Vail HQ, shopping, attending events, and stopping at Grazing Theory for an afternoon snack.
Temecula is rich in food and wine. Europa and Doffo Wineries are two of the many wineries where they meet friends after Sean’s round of golf at Redhawk Golf Course.
Want to spot Sean and Desiree? Visit Old Town Temecula, where they will most likely be savoring one of Gambling Cowboys’ fine meals before hitting all the local shops.
