Dr. Garza Plastic Surgery is restoring hope and confidence for their patients in the Stone Oak area

Choosing a new doctor can be overwhelming. When you add in a cancer diagnosis, multiple tests, and endless questions, it can begin to feel impossible. That is the situation Maggie Coffey was in when she was first diagnosed with breast cancer in October of 2024. She was grateful when she felt like Dr. Garza was a good fit from the first phone call.

Dr. Garza Plastic Surgery opened in February 2023. It is owned and operated by board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Ramon Garza III. The practice primarily focuses on Breast and Body Aesthetic Surgery, Breast Reconstruction, and Non-Surgical Facial Aesthetics. The detailed nature of plastic surgery is what first interested Dr. Garza in this type of medicine.

Dr. Garza is most well-known for the DIEP flap breast reconstruction. During this procedure, the patient’s abdominal tissue is used to reconstruct the breast after a mastectomy. Many patients prefer this procedure because it feels more natural and lasts forever, unlike a silicone implant which would eventually need to be replaced, requiring another surgery. Maggie was referred to Dr. Garza by her breast surgeon, but she could tell right away that she did not need to look further. Dr. Garza’s staff was patient and kind with her from their first conversation, when they phoned her with a last-minute opening for her initial consultation. Maggie is a teacher, so she had to leave work that day on short notice- a tough task

for any educator. Feeling overwhelmed, Maggie said the staff put her at ease and were very understanding about her circumstances. That was when Maggie knew Dr. Garza Plastic Surgery was the right fit for her.

When someone first comes to see Dr. Garza, he wants them to know “I am there to be their advocate.” He likes to approach the appointment as an educator as well as a physician. Dr. Garza spends that time explaining all their options thoroughly in a way that is easy for the patient to understand. His top priority is for the patient to feel informed so they can make the decision that is best for themselves.

Maggie certainly picked up on that during her visits with Dr. Garza. She felt that he understood her needs and that his expertise helped guide her through her reconstructive journey. Maggie found Dr. Garza to be incredibly skilled, compassionate, and dedicated, which she says made all the difference in her recovery and confidence.

Dr. Garza’s favorite part of the job is when he gets to see his patients’ post-operative results. He loves the excitement in their voices and the smiles on their faces when they get to see their before and after photos and take in the changes. Making a difference in a person’s life is important to him, whether that’s helping a breast cancer patient regain their sense of self through breast reconstruction or giving a mother a boost of confidence with an aesthetic surgery.

He admits that when he first started his career in 2016, he always thought that performing surgery would be the hardest part of his job. But after 10 years of building his skill set as a plastic surgeon, he has learned that being a business owner of his own medical practice means he cannot do it alone. Dr. Garza credits his office staff for keeping the practice running smoothly.

Dr. Garza values and relies on each one of them tremendously to make each day a success, and that was evident to Maggie as a patient. She described the staff at Dr. Garza Plastic Surgery as top notch. “They are very professional but also so kind. I never felt like just another number. The staff treated me like a person, always taking the time to listen and make me feel valued and cared for throughout my entire experience.” Since her diagnosis, there were times that felt vulnerable and full of the unknown. Maggie credits the staff for helping make this part of her breast cancer journey easier.

Flowers have a rich history of symbolic meanings. As far back as the 19th century, they were used to convey secret messages. Stories throughout history recount how flowers were used to send hidden messages between people. French publishers began producing flower dictionaries that cataloged the many floral codes that had been gathered over time. Some of these meanings were linked to the flower’s root name, often derived from mythology, while others were drawn from the flowers themselves. The colors, medicinal properties, and even the superstitions associated with these flowers all contributed to the creation of this secret language. In addition to their symbolic significance, flowers bring natural beauty to any interior, enhancing spaces with their color, texture, and mood-boosting qualities. Floral arrangements not only create a cozy atmosphere but also infuse a room with personality, elevating the overall ambiance. There are multiple ways to creatively integrate florals into your home, and whether using fresh or artificial flowers, creative displays can make quite the statement piece.

Using a frog to display flowers creates a minimalist yet elegant look that highlights the individuality of each bloom. It helps the stems stay in place. To set it up, place the frog on your chosen display base, whether it’s a vase, bowl, platter, or any container you prefer. Then, simply insert the flower stems by gently pressing them into the prongs. Tip: Flowers with sturdy stems and a lighter top work best in a frog, as delicate blooms tend to lose their shape more quickly.

Add an extra burst of color and texture to your floral arrangement by layering fruit around the edges of your vase. To achieve this, place a smaller vase inside a larger one, ensuring the flowers stay contained in the inner vase to preserve their shape. Fill the surrounding space with water and then arrange sliced fruit along the vase’s outer sides. For a fresh touch, add ice cubes to keep the fruit looking vibrant longer and to hold them in place. Not only will the flowers’ fragrance fill the air, but the citrus notes from the fruit will add a refreshing scent.

Ladies, with Mother’s Day and Summer around the corner, it’s time to treat yourself. No, we’re not talking about a ladies night out – we’re talking about a ladies day out, but don’t worry, you can still have some cocktails. While it can be challenging to find the time for yourself, you now have the perfect excuse: Mother’s Day. If you don’t know what gift to ask for, we’ve thought of a few things that you could use to relax and finally give yourself the pampering you deserve. From hair extensions to facials, we created a list of places that are a must for you to try out.

The Lash Lounge

Lash fills are one of the most popular services at The Lash Lounge. 20-30% of your natural eyelashes are lost every two weeks, so to replenish the loss stylists can add lash extensions to give your lash line a fuller, curled look.

The process takes two hours for the first visit, and the following appointments at two-week intervals take about an hour depending on the stylist. Any overgrown or long extension are removed and replaced, leaving your lashes perfectly shaped and full. “It’s a really low maintenance process,” said lash stylist Hannah Lougue.

“We blend the lash extensions with your natural lashes, and you can come in every two to three weeks depending on how much your lashes shed.” Lash fills also eliminate the need for mascara. While you’re still able to use it on the lash extensions, some clients say that the lash extensions provide enough volume. Full sets start at $119 and up, depending on the look you want.

The Summer heat makes it hard to want to grow your hair out – but we have a trick for you. Tape in extensions can give you the fullness and length that you want without the permanent maintenance of having real, long hair.

Trio Hair Lounge owner Sandy Cieluch has 25 years of experience in the industry and believes that every transformation she creates is more than just the final look; it’s about empowering her clients and helping them feel confident.

“I believe in high-quality hair artistry,” Cieluch said, “and Easi Hair Pro Tape Row has the best quality hair extensions. Each visit takes about an hour to put the extensions in, and clients come back when they want them taken out or to put more back in.”To make sure the adhesive is fully bonded, stylists suggest waiting forty-eight hours before washing your hair. Whether you’re adding highlights, lowlights, or just need more volume and length, tape in extensions are great way to achieve the look you’re going for. Prices start from $150 and up.

It’s time to smooth out those wrinkles, and the ladies at XIA wellness are ready to help. Botox is a popular injectable that relaxes the muscles that cause facial expressions. The more affected areas are typically the forehead, eyes, and between the brows. It’s easy to become self-conscious of wrinkles and loose skin, but everyone gets them, and it’s very treatable and affordable, with each unit of Botox costing $12. Depending on the affected area and the desired look, prices for full sessions vary.
