Kenah Smith | kenah.smith@citylifestyle.com
Fashion and style have always held a special place in my life. I’ve long believed that how we express ourselves—through the clothes we wear, the homes we curate, and the art we create—tells a deeper story about who we are. Whether I’m painting, sewing, working with ceramics, or reimagining a piece of jewelry, I’m drawn to the process of repurposing something—not only as a tribute to the memories it carries, but as a way to shape the story I want it to tell moving forward. As the Editor for the September issue, I’m especially grateful for the opportunity to celebrate that spirit of creativity in our community. In this Style Issue, we explore the many ways Springdale showcases individuality and taste in unexpected places. From wardrobe staples and statement pieces to thoughtfully designed spaces and beautifully customized details, style is woven into every corner of our city. It’s in the places we shop, the way we celebrate life’s big moments, and even in how we personalize the everyday. This issue is a celebration of creativity, growth, and the vibrant character of our community. Inside, you’ll meet the artists, entrepreneurs, and visionaries who are shaping Springdale with their unique perspectives and bold ideas. Their work not only reflects their personal style but also contributes to the evolving identity of our city—one that values innovation, authenticity, and self-expression.

Together, Michelle Barnes and her mother, Darla, have built more than just a store. They have created a vibrant, welcoming space grounded in their shared love of décor and community connection. Through long nights, hard work, and unwavering faith, this mother-daughter duo brought their vision to life, transforming passion into purpose. Gathered Goods has become a cherished part of the Springdale Community, but their journey hasn’t been without its trials. When a tornado devastated the first location in Rogers, the future of the store felt uncertain. They began seeking a new home for their store, fully aware it would require time, faith, and hard work to start over. Thanks to a devoted team, including Michelle’s husband--whose construction skills were invaluable--andvendors from the original location, the dream took shape once again. But this new store would be more than just their next chapter, it would grow to become a home to 37 women-owned businesses. Together, they would form a community united by a love of design and creativity. The space now reflects the values of faith, resilience, and inclusion that Michelle and her mother hold so dear. But above all, they believe beautiful design should be available to everyone. At Gathered Goods, the goal isn't just to sell home décor, but help people tell their stories through their spaces. Whether it's a college student seeking budget-friendly pieces, or a first-time homeowner decorating their dream house, Michelle and her vendors offer something for every customer. Vendors range in age from their 30s to their 80s, offering an inspiring mix of styles and perspectives that enrich the store’s character.
Every item tells a story. From refurbished antiques to creatively repurposed finds, each piece holds history and heart. One remarkable example comes from a Galveston pier, salvaged in the wake of a hurricane. What could have been seen only as destruction was transformed into a stunning bed frame. It’s this kind of vision, turning something weathered into something wonderful, that defines the soul of Gathered Goods. But what truly sets the store apart is the sense of community. It’s not just a place to shop, but it is a place to connect. Vendors act as designers, creators, and problem-solvers, eager to help customers find or reinvent the perfect piece. Shoppers wander the isles, enjoying the displays at their own pace. Everyone leaves with a smile, often taking home a piece that ads character to their home. Everyone leaves with a smile, and often a piece goes home to begin a new story. But no matter what is on display that day, faith remains the beating heart of it all. Faith in each other, in their mission, and in the idea that good work done with love will always find its way. Each booth at Gathered Goods is a chapter in someone’s journey and every piece has a story to tell. As Michelle, Darla, and their team continue to grow Gathered Goods, their mission is unchanged: to provide not just beautiful home décor, but a place where people feel seen, supported, and inspired. In this larger space, the heart of Gathered Goods is stronger than ever and the sense of belonging is palpable. So whether it is old or new, Gathered Goods is sure to have the perfect item for you.

SEWN FOR SUCCESS
From Tontitown to the National Stage ARTICLE BY KENAH SMITH PHOTOGRAPHY BY GRIFFIN FULTON

I NSP IR E D BY | STYL E + B E AU T Y
Would you believe one of the country’s top couture designers is creating show-stopping gowns right in Tontitown, Arkansas? Stephanie, the creative force behind Violet’s Formal Destination, has designed and styled dresses for six national pageant winners, with gowns sold across the U.S.—even in Hawaii and Alaska. Known for turning fabric into wearable art, she blends precision, imagination, and bold design to craft gowns that shine on the grand stage and at life’s biggest moments. Every Violet’s gown begins as a vision—sometimes inspired by architecture, a bold color, or the wearer’s personality. Stephanie hand-paints fabrics, sources luxurious fabrics from markets in Atlanta and Austin, and tailors every detail to create timeless, unforgettable pieces. “When a girl goes out on stage,” she says, “they want to give it their all. And they want to know they’re in the best of the best. It’s special knowing they had a hand in bringing the design they’re wearing to life.” Her gowns are more than dresses; they’re statements of confidence, designed to help the wearer feel like her best self. Stephanie’s hands-on approach means close collaboration with clients like 2025’s Miss Arkansas’ Teen, Peyton Bolling. They discussed every detail—from colors and neckline to waistline and fabric. Stephanie made a custom sketch so Peyton could see the dress
before it was made. “Because the girls have a hand in the design process,” Stephanie explains, “they feel more confident wearing it on stage.” This personal touch is why so many young women competing in pageants choose Violet’s. Stephanie believes a dress can be beautiful but it must also match the girl’s personality. Her goal is to empower everyone that wears her gowns. Stephanie’s path wasn’t traditional. Before becoming one of the region’s top designers, she worked as a nurse. Creativity was always part of her life, waiting for the right moment. That came when she won a swimsuit competition in the Bahamas and used the prize money to pursue her dream of designing gowns. What started as a small boutique grew into a career defined by artistry, vision, and style. CONTINUED >

As her reputation grew, so did the stages her gowns graced. From local pageants to the national spotlight, Stephanie’s designs helped contestants win crowns and magazine covers. Her work has appeared at New York Fashion Week, where her bold creativity and refined elegance stood with fashion’s biggest names. For clients, wearing a Violet’s gown isn’t just stepping on stage—it’s stepping into new confidence. Stephanie’s impact goes beyond her personal designs. She styles dresses from other designers, helping clients perfect every look from head to toe. Whether tailoring her own creations or styling others, Stephanie brings passion and detail, making each woman feel polished and confident. She’s built a community of young women who come to Violet’s for couture, mentorship, and encouragement. Many credit her with helping them find their voice and style. Whether guiding first-timers or perfecting gowns for national contestants, Stephanie pours her heart into every relationship. Looking ahead, Stephanie remains committed to her craft and community. Every new design reflects elegance and personal expression. For those who wear Violet’s originals, it’s more than a dress—it’s a meaningful part of their most important moments. For Stephanie, it’s about celebrating individuality and helping others feel confident and empowered, no matter the stage or occasion.

Where Fashion Meets Vision The Art of Eyewear at Radiant EyeCare
The Team at Radiant Eye Care
In today’s fast-paced world full of ever-changing trends and endless ways to express ourselves, it’s easy to overlook the essentials—like the perfect pair of glasses. At Radiant Eye Care, led by owner Andrea Horne, eyewear is more than a necessity; it’s a bold statement that complements your everyday style. Your closet is filled with shoes for every occasion: running shoes, dress heels, hiking shoes, everyday favorites. Why shouldn’t your eyewear be just as versatile? At Radiant Eye Care, the team helps you build a wardrobe of frames that

reflect your lifestyle and personality. From sleek and sporty to elegant and edgy, their frames are made to capture all of life’s moments. For the past five years, Radiant Eye Care has been redefining what it means to wear glasses. What started as a small, intimate team of three has now grown into a passionate crew of over fifteen. Their new storefront, which opened in February, welcomes you in with soft lighting, open space, and wall-to-wall inspiration. The shelves are lined with hundreds of curated frames, rotated based on seasons, brands, and popularity—always selected not just for fashion, but for fit and quality. Walk through the door, and you’ll be greeted not only by beautiful designs, but by people who genuinely care. Every team member is there to help you find something that feels like you. Yes, glasses are a medical device, but at Radiant Eye Care, they’re also a piece of art, an accessory, and an extension of your identity.
Style is personal, and Radiant Eye Care embraces that. From timeless tortoise shells and classic round frames to bold pink statement pieces and barely-there blush tones, every frame should fit your life. You'll see everything from vintage cat-eyes to current trends like Western-inspired aviators and the “clean girl” aesthetic with petite, minimal frames. So, whether you're dressing for a boardroom, a date night, or a day on the trail, Radiant Eye Care’s highly trained and devoted team will help you find frames that feel right and look incredible. They carry sizes for everyone, ranging from kids and petite to larger settings, always ensuring a tailored fit. Above all, Radiant Eye Care is where eyewear meets self-expression. It’s about the experience. Try them on. Feel them. Fall in love before you commit. Because when you find the perfect pair, you don’t just see better. You feel better. CONTINUED >

Talking Crow Coffee Roasters is celebrating fall with one of their favorite seasonal drinks: the Rosemary Maple Latte. This cozy, aromatic treat can be enjoyed hot or iced, and its subtle herbal notes perfectly complement their rich decaf espresso blends. All of their decaf and non decaf coffees are available online—with the option for local pickup—so you can bring a taste of fall home anytime!
INGREDIENTS: • 1-2 Sprigs of Fresh Rosemary • 1 Tablespoon Real Maple Syrup • 2 Shots Decaf Espresso (We recommend the Talking Crow's Ozark Goodness Blend) • Your Milk of Choice • Ice
THE ROSEMARY MAPLE LATTE: DIRECTIONS: Remove the rosemary leaves from the stem and place them in your glass of choice. Pour freshly brewed Talking Crow Decaf Espresso over the top of the rosemary leaves and let steep for five to ten minutes. The longer you let it steep the richer the flavor will be. After you have let the flavor of rosemary incorporate into the espresso, you can strain it into a pretty glass. Then add the tablespoon of Maple Syrup. Next adding in your milk of choice to about 2/3 or ¾ full. Stir! Add ice to the top. Sip and Enjoy!

THE TREASURE WITHIN Groundwaves
How CACHE Illuminates Northwest Arkansas’ Creative Communit y ARTICLE BY BO SIMPSON PHOTOGRAPHY BY CACHE STUDIOS
28
T R E N D SE T T E R | ARTS + CU LT U RE
CACHE, pronounced like the kind you keep in your wallet, is an abbreviation for “Creative Arkansas Community Hub & Exchange,” but it carries a meaning of even more significance. A “cache” refers to a hidden collection of items, typically of
Groundwaves
“Northwest Arkansas has always been a cache or treasure trove of hidden gems, glistening pockets of insight and innovation.” one kind and stored in one place. An example of a cache that we are all familiar with here in Northwest Arkansas ... is Northwest Arkansas. CACHE has served as an arts intermediary organization in the region since 2019. From their perspective, “Northwest Arkansas has always been a cache or treasure trove of hidden gems, glistening pockets of insight and innovation. Our artists and creative industries form the equivalent of a network of caverns and hideaways, valuable underground caches, strong foundations of rock and stone, and winding interconnected waterways.” By working with local artists and arts organizations, CACHE’s goal is to bring creatives out of their caverns and into the light. In the last six years, they have invested
over $4 million in the NWA creative community to make this possible. Brittany Johnson, Director of Communications for CACHE, highlights three necessities for any artist: space, money, and time. Through platforms like Groundwaves (which was created for hip-hop artists and ended last year), programs like the Creative Exchange Fund (which offers space and funding for artists at The Medium in Springdale), and events such as workshops and social hours, local artists are being given opportunities to have their needs met and to grow in community with one another. Ultimately, CACHE’s work shows us that creativity isn’t just waiting to be discovered—it’s already here, shaping our community from the inside out, one unearthed gem at a time.
