Is there anything better than pool season? Whether you’re more of a soak-up-the-sun, or play-with-water-guns person, there is something for everyone.

As we move into July, the days are getting longer and hotter. The longer I live here, the more I have come to appreciate the unique summer that Vegas has to offer. The buzz of the Strip is back, which brings small and large events alike (Formula 1 is right around the corner), but also our corner of town starts to bustle.

This month’s issue highlights all things Summer happening right here in South Vegas. And even if Summer doesn't mean three months of summer vacation anymore (because we're, you know, adults), we can still look forward to making the best of it — check out the table of contents!

My family loves to get out and explore summer activities each year. Whether it’s a neighborhood “Saturday’s in the Streets,” hosting a pool party, exploring the local trails (in the mornings, of course), or taking a quick weekend trip to the beach. There’s something about these experiences and #memories that I want my kids to look back and remember — not just the newest toy or tablet.

Project Marilyn Presented with Donation Over $52,000

The Clark County Medical Society Alliance Board of Directors presented a donation check for more than $52,000 to non-profit organization, Project Marilyn. The fundraising efforts over the past year were in addition to bi-monthly volunteer packing and distribution of period supplies in an effort to end period poverty. This resulted in more than 200 hours of volunteer time packing 3,800 period kits and to help end period poverty in Southern Nevada.

New CSI Junior Detective STEAM Series for Girl Scouts

Multipure recently announced the return of its partnership with the Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada. In addition, Multipure hosted a new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) series – CSI ‘Junior’ Detective. This monthly CSI 'Junior' Detective program offers Girl Scouts the chance to solve mysteries through science, discovering clues, and cracking codes, encouraging young girls to explore STEAM fields.

Communities In Schools of Southern Nevada Presents 11th ‘Power Within’

Communities In Schools of Southern Nevada recognized three students for their remarkable improvement during the 2022-2023 school year as part of the organization’s annual Power Within event. The scholastic and personal achieving students recognized include Elissa Diaz from E.W. Griffith Elementary School, Stephanie Martinez Villezcas from Jim Bridger Middle School, and Dreshaun Harper from Canyon Springs High School. The annual event recognizes students making ‘leaps and bounds’ in achieving their goals.

Carson Kitchen Launches New Menu with Exotic Ingredient Features

Local Las Vegas restaurant, Carson Kitchen, launched its new menu with new ingredient features at the start of summer. With summer in full swing, Chef and Owner Cory Harwell’s menu proudly features high-quality cuts of venison, rabbit, and snake, along with the introduction of kimchi, but “in a way that is familiar and recognizable to all palates.” The new menu is now available at the Downtown Las Vegas location.
