Greer Jones is not just an expert real estate agent; she has quite a knack for staging and decorating homes to help home sellers prepare their spaces for potential buyers. “Staging is a way to show potential buyers the function of a room, particularly one that is oddly shaped or lacks windows,” Greer explains. “I prefer a home to feel cozy rather than too staged. People do not live in a staged home but in their own comfort.” Greer says the best rooms to stage are kitchens, family rooms, dining rooms, primary bedrooms, and bathrooms, and empty and decluttered rooms are easiest to work with.
The most critical element of a home staging project is showing function, like how many seating areas one room can have. A home stager must show buyers all the possibilities one place can have. Greer also loves decorating homes, which is slightly different from staging. “Decorating is using a preferred color scheme
chosen by a homeowner and accessorized with a client’s personal touch,” Greer says. When decorating a room, light plays an important role. Since paint looks very different in different lighting, how much natural sunlight or added light in a space helps determine the perfect paint color.
Greer’s decorating style is a combination of coastal chic and antique. “I am from the coast, so the colors, fabrics, and accessories are throughout my home; it brings me joy.” Some of the latest trends in interior design are artsy lighting fixtures, mixing patterns, and accent walls, and trying to keep up with trends can be very costly. Because some items and styles never go out of style, Greers says, “Be creative and decorate with what you are comfortable with, not just what’s in trend.”

WOMEN’S APPAREL STORE ERMA JEAN OPENS A SECOND LOCATION AND LAUNCHES A NEW COLLECTION
When Lauren Llewellyn and Katelyn Peretti of Erma Jean discovered an opportunity to run a booth from Painted Tree Boutiques in Midlothian, they jumped at the chance to reach a broader customer base. From operating in a small home office to launching their brand online in 2019, Erma Jean has successfully established two locations in the Richmond area, Short Pump and now Midlothian, offering the same curated selection of styles that Erma Jean is known for.
A new location is not all Lauren and Katelyn have been up to this year. After many customer requests, they launched a collection of apparel and accessories for little girls, sizes 2-7. Already a childfriendly environment with coloring books, crayons, and Play-Doh, Erma Jean now offers little girls their own special corner to shop with their moms and grandmothers! Erma Jean's little girl styles are classy yet comfortable, like their women's clothing.

When Tiara R Holloway-Wilkerson was younger, she would get herself into a bit of trouble by reorganizing and rearranging her parents' home while her father was out of town. From wallpapering and painting her bedroom fire-engine red and her closet door purple, Tiara was motivated to create comfortable and captivating spaces in her parents' home. "As time went on and I moved into my first home, I realized I had a gift to design and decorate my home and others," Tiara says. "Kelli Ellis noticed me from HGTV to attend Design Camp in Highpoint, NC, and 11 years later, I am blessed to be an interior designer here in Richmond, VA running two successful businesses."
Tiara created RVA Design Group to support and provide resources to fellow designers because she found it difficult to make connections when she first started in the industry. “I knew how I felt when I started my business,” Tiara explains. “I didn’t know
any designers here in Richmond that I could come to and ask to be my mentor; I had no clue where to start!” After sharing her vision and being encouraged by her friend Travis Williams of Travis Pernell Interiors, Tiara connected with Jessica Myrick of J. Lynn Interiors, and RVA Design Group was born!
RVA Design Group includes interior designers, organizers, stagers, contractors, and realtors. As the group’s leader, Tiara ensures all members support one another and that everybody inside the group is growing individually. “I hear members often say they share information to help each other grow, and that means the world to me,” Tiara says. With a team of Vice President Jessica Myrick, Chairman Danielle Shackleford of Dani Designed It, and Treasurer Cherelle Armistead, Tiara is proud to say the women complement one another and hold each other accountable for their roles.
Planning and attending networking events are the keys to thriving, and RVA Design Group hopes to add more members to its collaborative team. Tiara aims to expand the group outside Richmond and have the designers
Tiara is a licensed interior designer devoted to interior styling. For the past decade, she has immersed herself in the industry while creating her own company, Vivacious Interior by Tiara. Tiara and her company specialize in design services for residential and commercial spaces.

start their own chapters. She also plans to purchase a location for RVA Design Group and utilize it as a place for design students to have an exclusive look at the interior design industry. “We have colleges here that teach design, but they don’t show behind the scenes of interior design,” Tiara says. “This will be a safe place for inspiring designers, contractors, painters, and carpenters to learn and ask questions.”
Tiara is passionate about helping those who want to learn about interior design. “I’ve been blessed with a gift and talent, so it’s my purpose to give back by helping, guiding, teaching, and giving,” Tiara says. Currently, RVA Design Group is searching for high school and college students to shadow some of their designers. If you are a student or recent graduate, please email Tiara and her team at RVADesignerGroup@gmail. com with “Youth Give-Back Interior Design” in the subject line.

Most of us can say we have that one staple black dress that can be worn at any occasion, and the classic look is not only popular but is elegant and timeless. It is one of the most versatile items we own, never goes out of style and looks good on anyone. But how did this classic look originate?
Prior to the 1920’s, black was reserved for funeral wear, but when Coco Channel made the bold move to print a short, black dress on the cover of Vogue in 1926, all of that changed. The popularity of the black dress skyrocketed, and it became one of the most influential pieces of clothing. Because of its affordability, black remained a popular choice during The Great Depression. The black dress had another boom in popularity when “Breakfast at Tiffany’s’’ debuted, and Audrey Hepburn showcased her iconic black dress with long, black gloves.
We enlisted the help of stylist, Amani Skalacki, to show us how versatile the little black dress can be. “We usually think of the little black dress as a piece you wear to an event. However, because black is so flattering on all body types and skin tones, women have multiple black dresses from casual to evening,” Amani says.
“A sequin dress can be dressed up with heels, or that same dress can be transformed into a casual outfit with the addition of tennis shoes and an oversized blazer or a denim jacket. Transform that strappy dress you have been wearing all summer into an outfit that is perfect for chilly fall temperatures. Add a narrow scarf, a leather jacket and sandals or a tall pointy boot, and you have a whole new look for an evening out,” Amani adds.
If you have a dress in the back of your closet that you haven’t worn in years, don’t be afraid to dust it off and give it new life.
Are you looking for the best cut or style of dress that works best for your body type?
