I literally stressed about writing this letter for days. Thoughts kept tumbling around my head, and I couldn’t figure out what I wanted to write about. I mean, this is the Women’s Issue. It’s about so many of the powerful, amazing women in our community, and fun things that impact women. I knew I wanted to talk about the women who have impacted my life—but where would I start? There are so many. My mom, my sister, my daughter, my best friends, my cousins… the thing is, the list is long. Then I realized… how wonderful is that? How wonderful is it to be surrounded by so many amazing women that there’s not enough space on this page to speak about them all? So, to you all—I love you and thank you for being in my life! To those I haven’t met yet—I look forward to getting to know you and welcoming you to my tribe. Let’s connect! This issue is all about women. Meet Brie and Nikki Bella, who may be two of the busiest women I know (hello wrestling, Total Bellas, Total Divas, and more!). Kids, a move, multiple businesses… they juggle it all. Read all about what these Scottsdale natives are up to now. Lauren Wilson is also doing big things (and with one of my favorite industries—fashion!). Check out her company, Dora Maar. Etta Now Open at Scottsdale Quarter Etta, a neighborhood restaurant led by two-time Michelin-starred Chef Danny Grant and a sister restaurant to Maple & Ash, is now open at Scottsdale Quarter. “Etta”— short for Henrietta—is French for “keeper of the hearth,” so it is only fitting that the wood-fired hearth is the foundation of the restaurant's menu offerings. PUBLISHER I dedicate this to my mom… May is a special time of year. Not only do we celebrate Mother’s Day, but there’s also May Day on May 1. This is a special day between my mom and me. Ever since I can remember, on the first day of May, I have brought her flowers. I try to surprise her by leaving them quietly on her doorstep. I honestly don’t think I have missed a single year of this tradition since I was about 7 years old. I love doing this because it’s my way of reminding her of the beauty she brings to my life, our family, and frankly, this world. This woman is my rock, always there for me, my constant cheerleader, and the foundation of my family growing up. I am the youngest of five kids, and because of her, we have a very tight bond between us. She was always and continues to be the glue for our family. Now having four children of my own, I understand just how important this is. Connection truly is the basis of love, respect, trust, and honestly, how we grow into relationships throughout our lives. Not only is my mom the center of our family unit, she is also the BEST grandmother (Grammie) to all of our kids, and they love and cherish her. Mothers have so much influence on who we become in life. I am so grateful for the one I’ve got—without her constant love, encouragement, and support, our lives would be very different. I hope all of you can take extra time to reflect, and if possible reach out to your mothers if you are lucky enough to still have them around. They are a blessing and should be celebrated! The seed for Lauren Wilson’s passion for fashion was likely planted during the informal fashion photo shoots with her grandmother when she was in elementary school. The Scottsdale native excitedly describes those fun sessions, which included flashy custom jewelry, feathery boas, and sparkly dresses. “My grandmother was so fantastic, fabulous, and such an out-of-thisworld character,” says Wilson, the founder of the New York City-based, luxury pre-owned fashion e-commerce platform Dora Maar. “I got immersed in this dream world that fashion creates,” Wilson recalls. “I wanted to pursue a career in it.” That pursuit led her to USC, where she earned a degree in communications with a business minor, and near the crème de la crème of international haute style. Wilson landed an internship at Jimmy Choo at 19. More opportunities followed in L.A., Paris, and New York City, where she interned at Elle magazine. Postgraduation included positions with Gucci, Christie’s, and Moda Operandi. Then, on a rainy October day, Wilson saw that a friend with superb fashion sense was selling her closet through Instagram, complete with meaningful stories behind each piece. Wilson immediately realized the cool factor of knowing the background of where your fashion piece came from. She saw the value of connecting

tastemakers she follows with consumers who craved coveted pieces that were authentic and came from trusted owners. After doing her research, Wilson launched Dora Maar in 2019. Dora Maar features the closets of 50 “muses” and counting, offering personalized and digitized shopping experiences. Each week, new closets with unique, individualized pieces are launched. Further, Dora Maar has evolved to collaborate with big-name brands such as Rodarte and Markarian to sustainably offload their past-season merchandise. Wilson, who also holds a master’s degree in costume studies from NYU, has her own closet on the site, with 100% of her sales benefiting Save the Children in support of Ukrainian refugees. The muses represent many looks, sizes, body types, styles, and ages. As a bonus, the resale model brings a sustainability component that is rare in the high fashion industry. Here, luxury is accessible to those without a celebrity bank account. “You see brands with these highly produced runway shows that recreate the dream. But when it comes down to purchase point, I’m not that girl. I’m not 5’ 10” and 90 lbs.,” Wilson says. “So many shapes, sizes, and voices wear these clothes after they’ve walked the runway. If we share the story behind it, it becomes a piece of fashion history. That’s where the consumer lives the story and lives the dream.” Dora-Maar.com

Paradise by the Sea CORAZÓN CABO RESORT & SPA: SUN AND FUN IN A LUXURIOUS SETTING

ARTICLE BY MICHELLE GLICKSMAN Along the coveted shores of Medano Beach in Cabo San Lucas, on what may be the most coveted piece of land, sits the new, unique, and luxurious resort, Corazón Cabo Resort & Spa. Standing nine stories high, and with the area’s only swimmable beach—not to mention stunning views of the Sea of Cortez and Land’s End Landmark, and the highest and most luxurious rooftop bar in Cabo— Corazón Cabo Resort & Spa is a delight of views, food, fun, sun, and luxury. It was a short, direct flight from Phoenix, and a few hours after I left home, I found myself being greeted in Corazón’s lobby and handed the key to my room.

Endless blue skies, glittering sea views, and a view of Cabo spread below greeted me from my room in the new-build, 204-room tower, which was part of the resort’s recent $100 million reveal. The property is the newest addition to Noble House Hotels & Resorts’ elite collection, and opened just this past February. Those familiar with Noble House’s destinations know that luxury and pampering is synonymous with the brand, and Corazón Cabo Resort & Spa, the company’s first property in Mexico, does not disappoint. The stunning resort, which enveloped several other pre-existing features and buildings into its destination, features two infinity-edge pools, multiple dining options, meeting spaces, Cabo’s only

microbrewery, the lavish rooftop bar with its stunning water and city views, and more. After settling in, I headed to the main pool (there is also a rooftop pool and other pools) to take in the view. The infinity-edge pool seemed to blend into the sea, which seemed to blend into the sky... it was an almost endless view of blue. Dinner that evening was at Aleta, an all-day restaurant and one of the resort’s six places to dine. Here, there was everything from freshly caught seafood to pasta. Other dining spots include Rooftop 360, the rooftop bar; the Camaleón Café, which is located in the lobby and is perfect for grab-and-go items; Baja Brewing Co., which is the area’s only microbrewery and is located on the rooftop terrace; and Corazón

Beach Club. Azure is Corazón’s soon-to-be-unveiled restaurant, and it will offer modern cuisine steeped in Mexican tradition. Like Cabo San Lucas as a destination itself, Corazón Cabo Resort & Spa offers plenty to do for those who choose to be busy, or is a place to simply relax for those who prefer downtime. My first full day was spent doing the latter. I headed to the Corazón Beach Club for a few hours of relaxation. The Beach Club (yes, it’s located on the beach itself ) features daybeds, lounges, and music from a DJ. Food and drinks are available from the attentive waitstaff. The sea is a few steps ahead, and the pool is just a few steps behind. For those looking for adventure, there is plenty available. An activities desk helps arrange for kayaks, paddleboards, and planning land and water excursions. There is also a representative on-hand from Cabolectric, which offers electric experiences such as hydrofoil rides. There are plenty of activities near the resort, as well, from sights to explore to yachts to charter. Whale watching—whether from the resort or from a chartered experience—is a treat during whale season. Of course, there’s pampering, too. The resort’s spa, Sparitual, offers a variety of spa treatments and salon services. Corazón Cabo Resort & Spa has 187 rooms and 17 luxury suites. The rooms feature floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors, and custom furniture and art made locally. It’s easy to get wrapped up in luxury here and forget that this isn’t home. DIRECTIONS Pour strawberry puree in glass. Blend the remaining ingredients and pour into a glass. Garnish with a strawberry.

R E D C L AY INGREDIENTS • Twang-A-Rita Safari Spice • Lime • Fresh juice of 1 lime • ½ oz. simple syrup • ½ oz. Cointreau Orange Liqueur • Slice up a quarter of a red bell pepper • 2 slices Serrano pepper • 1 ½ oz. reposado tequila • Dehydrated lime wheel • Salt • Ice

DIRECTIONS First pour Twangarita Safari Spice (Spicy Mango salt) onto a plate. With a lime wedge, wet the rim of the entire cocktail glass. Dip the rim of the glass into the salt and rotate until the rim is fully covered. Add lime juice, simple syrup, Cointreau Orange Liqueur, red bell pepper, and Serrano pepper to shaker and muddle, extracting the pepper flavor. Add tequila and ice, then shake vigorously and strain into the rimmed cocktail glass. Garnish with dehydrated or fresh lime wheel.

DIRECTIONS Combine ingredients in a small saucepan on an induction burner and heat on a low simmer for approximately 5-6 minutes, stirring to combine. Let cool, then refrigerate for up to two weeks.

Brie and Nikki Bella grew up in Scottsdale, graduating from Chaparral High School. The twins—known for professional wrestling, their appearances on Total Bellas and Total Divas, their YouTube channel and podcast, being best-selling authors, and more—have always been close, so it makes sense that when they considered moving to Napa, California, there was one thing that they decided would make them move. It was in 2020, explains Nikki, when they began thinking about moving. Napa had always been their favorite vacation spot, and the pair were also in the wine industry, “so it made sense.” One day, says Nikki, “We said, if we go on Zillow right now and there are two houses next door to each other, that’s a sign that we’re going to do it. And sure enough, there were two houses next door to each other.” They moved that September, and while they love their new locale, Scottsdale still has a part of their hearts. “The food, the people, and we have family there still,” Nikki says of the Valley. “It’s our childhood home, so the memories.” “I miss hiking—I was always hiking! I miss Camelback Mountain,” Brie says. “Buck & Rider…” Nikki interjects. “Yes, Buck & Rider,” Brie agrees. “Grabbing breakfast at The Henry. … Can we please just pick up LGO and put it in Napa Valley? That’s the one thing about Scottsdale I’ve always admired—they always kill it with the restaurant business. [That’s] why Nikki and I are like, maybe we should

open up our own restaurant in Scottsdale. It’s on the vision boards for 2022-2023!” So far though, the restaurant business is one of the few things the Bellas aren’t involved with. One of their ventures—which was one of the reasons they moved—is a partnership with Hill Family Estates to create their own wine labels, called Belle Radici and Bonita. Hill Family Estates owns the vineyards and the winery, but “we harvest, we pick grapes, we’re at the facilities when they get bottled, and we taste and make sure everything is perfect,” Brie explains. “Wine is our passion, and it’s so amazing to do what you love.” Last May, they also launched a wine club. This month, they have a product launch for another of their ventures—their newest collection, the Park Line, for Colugo, a company that offers products for parents. Both Brie and Nikki are parents—Brie has daughter Birdie and son Buddy with husband Bryan Danielson, and Nikki has son Matteo with husband Artem. Buddy and Matteo were born just 22 hours apart in 2020. “We’ll be offering a few new items beyond our strollers and our baby carriers. We’re going to add in a collection of items you’d bring to a park, such as a play mat, and also a backpack,” Nikki explains. “Everyone loved our tote bags,” says Brie, “so we’re having new tote bags coming out, and backpacks that are dad-friendly because not all dads want to carry a tote.” Many of the items are made-to-order, and the company prides itself on its sustainability.

“The stroller is designed by Nikki, and we wanted to make it the perfect hustle-and-bustle stroller. Our tote bags match our strollers and then go under it perfectly, which we thought was perfect,” Brie shares. “The one thing is that Nikki and I are very hands-on,” she continues. “We look at our everyday life and are like, ‘How can we make parenting easier?’ So, that’s what we’re very mindful about when we’re working with the designers and coming up with our products.” In addition to all of that, the Bellas also have a podcast, called The Bellas Podcast, which airs on SiriusXM Stitcher and drops every Wednesday. “It’s another platform where we really get to connect to our Bella army,” Nikki says. “And on top of that, I’ve just really enjoyed meeting all these different people and really having a conversation with them, because that’s what podcasts do—people know they’re going to come on for 30 minutes or an hour, and you’re just going to get to talk. There have been some really great people that, without our podcast, we never would have connected with.” Sometimes they’ll also bring on their husbands or their brother.

“We’ve made it kind of like an extension of our reality show, but in the form of just hearing it in your car. It’s been really fun.” Brie and Nikki also still do YouTube with the WWE. And, the pair have some new projects coming up this summer. Though they say they can’t share exactly what they are yet, they say that they are really excited for them. “Whatever we set our minds to, we really just go all in,” Nikki says about their ventures. The sisters agree that juggling everything they do is a lot, and share that what makes it all possible is that they’re in it together and can lean on each other for help. They split up tasks, make schedules, and have realized that it’s okay to say no to projects that they aren’t passionate about, or which aren’t authentic and organic to their lifestyles. “You have to do what’s organic and authentic to you, and what truly sets your soul on fire,” Brie says. “When you can find one—or 10—things you’re passionate about, everything just happens to fall into place. The majority of the time, it’s not even about the money you make because it brings you happiness… and when you have happiness, that is priceless.”
