Gentlemen, let’s be honest, just when you thought we might have forgotten about you after our May Women’s Issue, we’re here to prove we were just saving the best for last. Welcome to the June Gentleman’s Issue! We know you’ve been patiently (or perhaps not-so-patiently) waiting for your turn in the spotlight, and we are thrilled to finally deliver an issue dedicated entirely to the men who make the Sandusky Bay region such a pow erhouse place to call home.

This month, we’re trading the floral arrangements for some grit, gear, and greatness. We wanted this issue to feel like a Saturday afternoon in the garage or a quiet morning on the lake, a space where tradition meets progress. You’ll find stories of multi-generational legacies, like the Eyring family moving team now entering its sixth generation of service, and insights into the tactical craftsmanship of local experts who understand that “doing it right” is the only way to do it.
But beyond the “man caves,” the classic Lincolns, and the latest gear, there is a deeper meaning to this issue. When we talk about the men in our community, we are talking about the silent pillars of our neighborhoods. We are celebrating the fathers who lead by example, the business owners who mentor the next generation, and the friends who show up when the “heavy lifting” of life gets real.
The impact a dedicated man has on his family and his town is immeasurable. Whether he is navigating the intricacies of a mortgage or navigating a boat through the Marblehead chop, a true gentleman brings a sense of stability and strength to everyone around him. This issue is our way of saying “thank you” to the men who build the foundations we all stand on.
So, grab a cold drink, find your favorite chair, and enjoy this celebration of Sandusky Bay’s finest.
To the men of the Bay,

In the high-stakes landscape of Lake Erie real estate, legacy is far more than a buzzword; it is the region’s most valuable currency. For Chris Pisano of Union Home Mortgage, that foundation is as literal as it is profound. Chris operates out of the exact office where his father and grandfather navigated their law practice for decades, transforming a workspace into a site of generational stewardship. This lineage anchors Chris to the community, allowing him to blend a respect for the past with a tactical mission: helping neighbors secure their financial futures.

While the heritage is historic, the engine under the hood is built for the 2026 market. Chris understands that in a world of rising values and shifting rates, a mortgage is a strategic financial tool, not a “one-sizefits-all” product. The Pisano Team with Union Home Mortgage sets itself apart by moving with the speed of a boutique firm while leveraging the heavy-hitting resources of a national powerhouse. Their portfolio is built for the strategic borrower. Whether navigating the appraisal nuances of FHA and USDA loans for first-time buyers or executing the specialized VA loans our veterans have earned, Chris’s team bridges the gap between a pre-approval and a deed. In today’s market, success is about more than just an interest rate; it’s about the product mix. They provide the high-limit Jumbo loans required for Sandusky Bay’s premier waterfront properties and the sophisticated refinancing strategies that allow clients to pivot as their portfolios grow. It’s about aggressive advocacy and finding the “yes” that big-box banks often overlook.
Rounding out this powerhouse duo is Chris’s partner, Amanda Marett. Newly licensed and ready to build, Amanda is focusing her sights on her home turf of Vermilion & the surrounding area. As former realtor now turned loan officer, Amanda brings a fresh, energetic perspective to the table, ensuring every client receives a balance of “old-school” wisdom and “new-school” grit.
Together, Chris and Amanda represent the gold standard of local lending. By honoring a multi-generational history of service and utilizing the most aggressive financial tools in the industry, they aren’t just closing files, they’re building the next chapter of the North Shore, one doorstep at a time.

“CHRIS AND AMANDA REPRESENT THE GOLD STANDARD OF LOCAL LENDING. BY HONORING A MULTI-GENERATIONAL HISTORY OF SERVICE AND UTILIZING THE MOST AGGRESSIVE FINANCIAL TOOLS IN THE INDUSTRY, THEY AREN’T JUST CLOSING FILES, THEY’RE BUILDING THE NEXT CHAPTER OF THE NORTH SHORE. ”

Let’s be honest for a second. Every guy has that one space. Maybe for you, it’s the home theater in the basement where the Saturday morning games happen. Maybe it’s the detached garage where that classic car restoration is finally coming together, or that quiet vacation home where the only thing on the schedule is fishing. Or, it could be the business you’ve spent years building from the ground up.
Whatever your “man cave” looks like, it’s more than just a room or a building, it’s your sanctuary. It’s where your favorite gear, your hard-earned assets, and your peace of mind live. So, why are we still relying on a single deadbolt and a porch light to keep it safe?
I was in conversation with the team over at BCT Alarm Services, and they put it perfectly: security shouldn’t be a headache, and it definitely shouldn’t be “one-size-fits-all.” We’ve all seen those DIY kits you buy at the stores that fall off the wall after a month. BCT does things differently. They are a local Northern Ohio team (shoutout to Brian and the crew) who actually care about the “bones” of your property. If you’re looking to level up your defense, here’s the “friend-to-friend” breakdown of how they actually help you protect what matters:
BCT specializes in high-def surveillance systems that don’t just record, they alert. Whether it’s a dome camera for your storefront or a weatherproof bullet camera for the driveway of the lake house, you can pull up a live feed on your phone from anywhere. You can even zoom in to see if that delivery driver actually left the package in the right spot.
They use these slick QOLSYS panels that basically turn your security into a smart home hub. You can remotely lock the doors if you forgot, adjust the thermostat so the cabin is warm when you arrive, control interior and exterior lighting, or get an instant notification if a window is tampered with. It’s security that fits your lifestyle, not the other way around.
It’s not just about intruders. BCT monitors for the stuff you can’t see, like smoke, carbon monoxide, and even moisture. If a pipe bursts at your business over the weekend or a sensor trips at home, you’ll know before it becomes a catastrophe.
At the end of the day, a gentleman takes care of his own. Whether you’re protecting your family at home or your livelihood at the office, don’t leave it to chance. Give the experts at BCT a call. They’ll walk through your space, find the weak spots, and help you build a fortress that’s easy to use. Because let’s face it: the only people who should be entering your man cave are the ones you invited. CONTINUED >

“Whether you’re protecting your family at home or your livelihood at the office, don’t leave it to chance. Give the experts at BCT a call.”

“BCT does things differently. They are a local, Northern Ohio team, who sincerely care about the “bones” of your property.”

MIKE JOHNSON HAS BUILT HIS LIFE AROUND ONE QUIETLY RADICAL IDEA: THE STANDARD YOU SET PRIVATELY IS THE ONLY ONE THAT MATTERS.
After eight years in the Air Force, a celebrated run on national television, and a health crisis abroad that sent him deep into supply chains and ingredient certifications most founders never touch, the result is Oshun — a luxury ritual brand built on provenance you can trace and integrity you can verify. In an exclusive conversation for the Share the Lifestyle podcast, Mike shares what it actually takes to build something worth putting your name on. Read the highlights below, then scan the QR code for the full episode.
Q: YOU BECAME A FAN FAVORITE ON THE BACHELORETTE AND THEN LEFT THE SPOTLIGHT. YOU MOVED TO MEXICO, LEARNED SPANISH, THEN COSTA RICA, AND BUILT A COMPANY. WHAT DID THAT EXPERIENCE TEACH YOU ABOUT HUMAN BEHAVIOR?
A: “If you’re a good person going in, that shows. If you’re not, that shows too. I also learned that people form this parasocial relationship with you — they assume things about you. When all actuality, different circumstances bring out different parts of who you are. I was on TV trying to find love. The kindness people were showing after felt a bit fake, because they wanted to be a part of something that isn’t who I am individually, but a part of what they saw on TV. And so I had to get away from everybody and everything and the noise.”

“Too many people have prayed for me. So I’ve got to get up and do the walking.”
— Mike Johnson

Q: YOU JOINED THE AIR FORCE RIGHT OUT OF COMMUNITY COLLEGE. WHAT WERE YOU ACTUALLY RUNNING TOWARD?
A: “There was something in me that was saying: I’m not living up to my full potential. I was being a follower. My uncle said, ‘What’s going to make you become an adult the fastest?’ I said, obviously, the military. The Air Force broadened my thought process more than anything. We’re so caught up in our own perception — when you learn to understand different people’s perspectives, it adds to you in so many ways.”
Q: WITH OSHUN, YOU OWN YOUR MANUFACTURING, YOU EMPLOY A CHEMIST, EVERY PRODUCT HAS A BATCH NUMBER TRACEABLE TO ITS ORIGIN DATE. WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO GO THAT DEEP WITH THE BRAND?
A: “The EU bans 1,100 ingredients in personal care products. The U.S. bans nine. That’s my starting point. Oftentimes, it might be the same ingredient, but it comes from a place where it doesn’t have the highest purity. And 60% of what we put on our skin is absorbed. Every product Oshun makes carries a batch number that goes back to the exact day it was created — I can show you every single supplier, the date, the origin. I own more than one part of the supply chain because that’s the only way I can stand behind what’s in the bottle.”
This conversation is just the beginning. Mike goes deeper into why he’s buying land up north, the family in the Philippines who prayed over his factory floor, and what he’d tell every person ready to stop performing and start building. There is a specific kind of magic found in the silhouette of a 1948 Lincoln. It is more than just steel, glass, and rubber; it is a rolling testament to an era when craftsmanship was king and the road represented the ultimate frontier of the American dream. For the Reineke family, this vintage masterpiece isn’t just a showpiece, it is a North Star. As it sits in visual parallel to the sleek, aerodynamic marvels on the modern showroom floor, it tells a story of a family that has navigated the changing tides of the automotive world without ever losing their grip on the steering wheel of their values.
The Reineke story is one of true North Shore lineage. While many dealerships have transitioned into faceless national conglomerates, Reineke Family Dealerships have remained a family-owned bastion of reliability since William F Reineke Sr. first laid the groundwork in the 1960s. Today, that heritage is felt the moment you walk through the doors. It isn’t just a name on the sign, it’s the presence of family members who still hold ownership and work the floors daily. From the leadership at the top to the hands-on management across their various locations, the Reineke DNA is woven into the very fabric of the business. This “all-in” family approach creates a culture of accountability that you simply won’t find at a corporate outlet. When you buy a car here, you aren’t just a customer on a ledger, you are being welcomed into a tradition that has spanned over sixty years.
Standing beside the 1948 Lincoln, one cannot help but marvel at the staggering evolution of the driving experience. In 1948, luxury was defined by the weight of the door and the purr of the engine. Today, at Reineke, luxury is defined by intelligence. The new Lincoln lineup, including the Navigator and the Nautilus, represents a quantum leap in automotive technology. Where the ‘48 model relied on mechanical intuition, the modern Lincoln utilizes the Lincoln Co-Pilot360™ suite, an advanced array of driver-assist technologies that act as a second set of eyes on

the road. We are living in an era of Head-Up Displays that project vital information onto the windshield and ActiveGlide™ technology that allows for hands-free driving on American highways.
But the technology isn’t just about safety, it’s about the “Sanctuary” experience. Modern Lincolns offer Perfect Position seats with Active Motion massage, turning a commute through Sandusky or a drive out to the islands into a spa-like retreat. The Revel® Ultima 3D Audio System transforms the cabin into a concert hall, a far cry from the AM radio dials of the sixties. Yet, despite these leaps in innovation, the core mission remains the same: providing a vessel for life’s most important journeys.
Perhaps the most impressive evolution in the Reineke way of doing business isn’t found under the hood of a car, but in how they value your time. In the 1960s, a trip to the dealership was an all-day affair. In 2026, Reineke brings the dealership to you. Recognizing that the modern gentleman is busier than ever, they have pioneered a seamless service experience highlighted by their mobile service van and Valet Pick-Up & Delivery program.
If your Lincoln needs maintenance, the Reineke team will pick up your vehicle from your home or office, and deliver your car back to you when the work is complete. It is the ultimate expression of modern luxury, the gift of time. For those minor maintenance needs, their mobile service van can even perform oil changes, battery replacements, and software updates right in your driveway in Vermilion or Port Clinton. It is a high-tech “house call” that proves while the cars have changed, the family’s commitment to going the extra mile has only intensified.
As we celebrate the “Gentleman’s Issue,” the Reineke Family Dealerships stand as the perfect case study in how to honor the past while embracing the future. Whether you are admiring the timeless lines of that 1948 Lincoln or exploring the whisper-quiet cockpit of a 2026 Nautilus, the message is clear: the road ahead is bright, but it’s always better when you’re driving with family. The Reinekes have spent sixty plus years proving that while technology may redefine the car, character is what defines the dealership.

In speaking to Whiskey lovers (most happen to be men, but do accept me in their brethren as a fellow enthusiast, writer, and educator), I’ve learned a great many opinions on how to drink Whiskey. Specifically, preferences on adding water and ice vary greatly.
A brand ambassador that I had the privilege of listening to recently said the obvious: both dilution and temperature change when you add ice, so if you are going to add something, a little water is best. I personally prefer to use a water dropper, so I can add one drop at a time until I get to the desired taste.

HERE ARE THE DIFFERENCES:
Rocks: Provides the highest rate of dilution as a lot of ice melts quickly. If you are drinking a barrel proof Whiskey, it kind of defeats the purpose as the distiller didn’t add water as they do in every other type of finished Whiskey.
On the Rock: The single rock, cube, or sphere is the slowest to melt and thought to be the most aesthetic. It’s nice if you want to stretch out your tasting. I often order on the rock if I want my drink to last longer.
Neat: This is the way single malt Scotch is served at a tasting event, in a branded Glencairn or Neat glass so that proper nosing for aromas can be achieved - and a dram of Scotch, smaller than an ounce, fits in them perfectly.
Water: As I mentioned above, quoting the brand ambassador, a little water is better for a fine Whiskey over any kind of ice. Often, if ordered with water, the water is served in a separate vessel on the side so you can add in as much as you want.
Quoting another expert on the subject, Richard Paterson of The Dalmore famously and enthusiastically demonstrates in his Scotch classes how to drink single malt Scotch Whiskey: Paterson fills a lowball glass to the rim with ice, adds Scotch and then ceremoniously throws it over his shoulder onto the carpet of the classroom – because that much ice makes the drink worthless. One more quote, never “add green tea or milk to Whiskey. You can add a little water, but not a lot of ice.”
Ultimately, the reason we add ice can be for aesthetics, to stretch out the time spent on one glass, for cooling, and for dilution. However, the number one reason enthusiasts add water is … drumroll please … because adding a little water actually opens up a Whiskey to show more aromas and flavors.
