LIFESTYLE LETTER

A Fresh Lens

September 2026 PUBLISHER

My name is Noah McPherson. I'm a 26-year-old photographer and videographer born and raised in Laguna Niguel. I picked up a camera at 12 to capture my friends surfing, and that hobby eventually became a career. By the age of 18, I was traveling the world alongside top surfers, including Olympic gold medalist Caroline Marks. Over the years, my work has expanded beyond the water into commercial campaigns, sports, events, travel, and lifestyle photography. I’ve photographed brand launches, real estate, and the quiet, candid moments that happen between the big ones. Each project asks something different of me—whether I’m chasing high-speed action or slowing down for a portrait session—but they all share the same goal, revealing the character and energy of a moment. For this “Style” issue, I wanted to explore that same idea through a fresh lens. Style isn’t static; it shifts with your environment, your community, and the people around you. My hope with my photography is to invite you to see those details more clearly, and to recognize that your own everyday life is already styled in its most authentic way. Thank you for joining me on this journey. I’m honored to be part of the Saddleback City Lifestyle team and to share these stories with you. I invite you to explore more of my work on my website, noahmcpherson.com.

“STYLE IS NOT ABOUT BECOMING SOMEONE ELSE— IT'S ABOUT REVEALING THE WOMAN WHO'S ALWAYS BEEN THERE."

A woman’s wardrobe often changes at the same pace as life. A promotion, a new business, motherhood, or a renewed sense of self can all reshape the way she wants to present herself to the world. For Heather Chee, founder of Stylized Threads and its lead clothing stylist, those pivotal moments are when style becomes more than just clothing. Stylized Threads was created for women whose wardrobes no longer reflect who they are or where they’re headed. Heather begins with understanding the woman behind the clothes: her lifestyle, goals, values, personality, and the image she hopes to express. “Stylized Threads was founded on the belief that getting dressed should be about so much more than looking put together. It should be about feeling aligned with the woman you're becoming,” says Heather. That philosophy guides each client’s experience, from wardrobe strategy and closet refinement to private shopping and personalized styling. The focus is not on accumulating more pieces, but on creating a wardrobe where every item has a place and purpose. Heather’s approach is shaped by years of professional experience. After studying fashion in New York City and spending more than a decade in the industry, she developed a keen understanding of the elements that CONTINUED > S EP TEMB ER 2 0 2 6 | C I TYL I FE STYL E . make clothing work—from construction and fabric to proportion, fit, and craftsmanship. That technical knowledge allows her to look beyond what is trending and recognize the details that help a garment become a lasting part of someone’s wardrobe. Stylized Threads has also evolved through Heather’s connection with her clients. Originally serving both men and women, she discovered that her work resonated most with women navigating changing seasons of life. Today, her signature services help clients create wardrobes that support their lifestyles, goals, and evolving sense of self. “At Stylized Threads, our mission is to create wardrobe alignment, helping women dress in a way that reflects who they are today while supporting the woman they're becoming,” Heather stated. That mission extends beyond individual clients through Styled for Success, a partnership with Laura’s House, a nonprofit that supports survivors of domestic violence. The program provides women rebuilding their lives with professional clothing, personalized styling, color analysis, and wardrobe education at no cost.

14

FASH ION F OR WA R D | STYLE + BE AU T Y

For Heather, the impact of style is measured in moments of recognition: the client who sees herself differently in the mirror, the outfit that changes the way she enters a room, and the confidence that stays with her long after the fitting ends. “The most rewarding part of my daily work is witnessing the moment when fashion becomes something deeply personal,” she says. That connection between clothing and confidence is deeply personal for Heather. Childhood health challenges shaped her sense of identity and self-assurance at an early age, influencing the way she approaches her work. Combined with her extensive fashion background, those experiences have given her a unique understanding of how clothing can carry meaning far beyond appearance. At Stylized Threads, personal style is viewed through a different lens. Rather than chasing trends or changing who a woman is, the focus is on creating a wardrobe that reflects her confidence and individuality. Heather’s approach is captured in one simple belief: “Style is not about becoming someone else—it's about revealing the woman who's always been there.”

STYLE IN FULL BLOOM HOW FRENCH FLORIST BLENDS HIGH-FASHION DESIGN WITH ARTFUL BLOOMS TO CRAFT CUSTOM ARRANGEMENTS THAT SPEAK TO THE HEART ARTICLE BY HEATHER WHITSITT | PHOTOGRAPHY BY NOAH MCPHERSON

Style is often associated with what we wear, but at French Florist in Mission Viejo, it arrives in the form of thoughtfully composed blooms. Owners Alan Fu and Annie Hong have cultivated a floral boutique where every arrangement is a work of art tailored to its recipient. With creative careers that preceded their journey into florals, the husband-and-wife team brings a refined design sensibility to each composition. Their work balances color, texture, proportion, and movement with an effortless elegance, resulting in timeless, distinctive pieces. “Just as fashion reflects personal style, flowers express emotions. Whether celebrating love, gratitude, or life’s milestones, our goal is to create arrangements that leave a lasting impression long after the flowers are received,” they explain. Every design begins with an understanding of the unique story it is meant to tell. That same thoughtful approach carries through every step of the experience, with clients welcomed warmly, listened to attentively, and guided with confidence from selection to delivery. The shop has earned a reputation not only for its gorgeous flowers but also for the genuine relationships it has built throughout South Orange County. has become part of countless celebrations, from intimate gatherings to grand occasions, including one especially memorable commission. “Another unforgettable milestone was designing the florals for an upscale charity gala. We created 36 elegant table centerpieces along with custom bouquets for the event. The floral designs were so well received that many were later auctioned during the fundraiser, allowing our work to continue supporting a meaningful cause even after the event had ended.” As their beloved local business continues growing, so has French Florist’s commitment to creating beautiful moments through exceptional floral design. “There is something incredibly meaningful about seeing the joy that flowers bring to people and knowing we played a small part in creating that happiness.” In every carefully crafted bouquet, French Florist demonstrates that true style and beauty are not only seen but also felt.

DESIGN

Designing homes that feel refined, functional, and enduring Homes with the most enduring style rarely demand attention. Instead, they draw people in through balanced proportions, natural materials, and thoughtfully designed spaces that are as functional as they are inviting. They reflect careful planning and gorgeous finishes, creating homes that remain beautiful and livable for years to come. For family-owned Timeless Remodeling Showroom in Laguna Hills, that philosophy has always guided its work. Rather than chasing passing trends, the team helps homeowners throughout Orange County create renovations with lasting beauty and everyday functionality. As homeowners continue investing in their living spaces, kitchens and bathrooms remain the center of many remodeling projects. According to lead designer Lili, this fall's design trends embrace warmth, texture, and personality. The crisp, all-white interiors that have dominated recent years are giving way to richer color palettes and thoughtful details that bring more personality into the home. Among the many trends shaping today's homes, owner Pete Afrasiabi has noticed one that stands out. "We’ve seen a focus on mixed wood and painted, making cabinets look less manufactured and more like furniture that blends into the house,” he explains. That approach is showing throughout the home, where earthy elements and handcrafted details are creating spaces with warmth, character, and a more personal point of view. White oak cabinetry and walnut vanities are making a strong comeback, while other standout choices include stone surfaces with expressive movement, handcrafted finishes, and artisanal tile. These selections introduce layers of texture and character, giving each space a sense of depth and individuality. “The most sophisticated homes are still utilizing natural stone, like marble,” Pete says. “Although alternative artificial materials

like quartz, with varying natural print designs, are the future that keeps on knocking.” The result is a home that feels warm, inviting, and effortlessly refined. Color palettes are evolving in much the same way. Homeowners are gravitating toward nature-inspired hues like mushroom, greige, warm taupe, olive green, terracotta and deep blue, often accented with touches of buttery yellow. Together, these colors create interiors that feel relaxed yet refined, replacing the cooler palettes that once defined luxury design. Rather than competing with a home’s architecture, these softer tones complement natural light, wood tones and stone, creating more balance. Just as important as aesthetics, homeowners are also prioritizing how their spaces function day to day. Today's kitchens are expected to do more while feeling less utilitarian. Concealed storage, integrated organization, and furniture-inspired details help streamline everyday routines. Looking ahead, Pete predicts more thoughtful innovation to become an even greater focus. "For kitchens, I foresee an increase in multi-layered use of materials, like pop-up electrical outlets with USB attachments and alternative charging stations, appliance garage doors for hiding small appliances that can be easily accessed, and drawer accessories that enhance and declutter the drawers and cabinets.” Bathrooms are undergoing a similar transformation, moving past purely practical spaces into indulgent retreats with luxurious features. Expansive showers, elegant fixtures, and sophisticated lighting turn daily rituals into moments of relaxation without unnecessary excess. CONTINUED >

“The most sophisticated homes are still utilizing natural stone, like marble, although "For bathrooms, homeowners are opting for spa-like features, including waterfall-style tub fillers, steam showers, and lighted soap niches that span the width of the shower,” Pete says. While these finishing touches often capture the most attention, lasting success depends just as much on meticulous planning behind the scenes. According to the Timeless Remodeling team, avoiding common design mistakes can make a significant difference in both comfort and long-term value. Common missteps include overlooking soundproofing for second-story floating floors and failing to allow adequate space between fixtures and furnishings, which can leave a finished room feeling cramped. From flooring selections to room flow, the decisions made early in the design process often have the greatest impact on how a home functions long after the renovation is complete. That attention to detail also defines Timeless Remodeling's process, which includes extensive collaboration guiding every stage of the project. Working alongside project manager Andy, the team helps homeowners visualize their investment and refine every detail with confidence. "Our team of designers are the foundation of style design choices and recommendations,” says Pete. “A 3D realistic design is created for every project, and we spend multiple sessions with customers going over the designs before any material is even ordered." Throughout Orange County, homeowners are embracing designs that strengthen the connection between indoors and out. Covered patios, expansive glass openings, outdoor kitchens, and seamless transitions extend living space while taking full advantage of Southern California's climate. At the same time, homeowners are embracing energy-efficient upgrades, flexible layouts, and aging-in-place features that blend effortlessly into the design. The homes that stand the test of time aren’t defined by a passing trend or an overthe-top finish. They’re shaped by choices that enhance everyday living, bring family together, adapt to changing needs, and continue to just feel right over time. That’s the essence of a timeless design: creating a home that evolves gracefully with the people who live there.

WELLNESS, WITH ST Y L E

At Renaissance ClubSport, members and visitors experience a seamless mix of fitness, recovery, and hospitality

It's more than a hotel. More than a health club. It's a place where wellness meets hospitality, and where every stay offers the opportunity to leave feeling better than when you arrived. Imagine starting your morning with a fitness class, spending the afternoon by a resort-style pool, enjoying a restorative recovery session, and ending the day with dinner and drinks—all without leaving the property. At Renaissance ClubSport Aliso Viejo Laguna Beach Hotel, wellness isn't simply an amenity. It's woven into the guest experience.

Located in the heart of South Orange County, Renaissance ClubSport offers something increasingly rare: a destination where hospitality, wellness, recreation, and community come together under one roof. As part of the Renaissance Hotels brand, the property embraces a spirit of discovery while delivering an experience that feels both elevated and approachable. What truly sets Renaissance ClubSport apart is its unique connection to ClubSport, the property's expansive health and fitness destination.

Hotel guests enjoy complimentary access to ClubSport's premium amenities, including group fitness classes, strength and cardio training areas, indoor and outdoor recreation spaces, and a vibrant social atmosphere that encourages guests to stay active and engaged throughout their stay. Whether traveling for business, a weekend getaway, or a family vacation, guests have the opportunity to maintain healthy routines while enjoying the comforts and conveniences of a full-service hotel.

MORE THAN A HOTEL STAY

For many visitors, the experience begins as a hotel stay but quickly becomes something more. Guests can spend the morning exploring nearby beaches and trails, relax poolside in the afternoon, enjoy a workout or wellness experience, and discover local favorites with recommendations from the hotel’s knowledgeable Navigators. The result is a stay that feels personalized, immersive, and connected to the surrounding community. The property’s appeal extends well beyond travelers. For local members, Renaissance ClubSport serves as a place to pursue wellness goals, connect with friends, spend time with family, and recharge from the demands of everyday life. This blend of hotel guests and local members creates an energetic atmosphere unlike that of a traditional hotel or fitness club.

A PLACE TO BELONG:

Family-owned and guided by a people-first philosophy, Renaissance ClubSport has built its reputation on creating meaningful experiences and genuine relationships.

That commitment is reflected in the service guests and members receive every day. Associates take the time to listen, anticipate needs, and create personalized experiences that make each visit feel welcoming and memorable. The focus extends beyond hospitality. It is about creating a sense of belonging. Whether someone is checking in for a weekend stay, attending a corporate event, meeting friends for lunch, participating in a fitness class, or spending the day at the club with family, the goal remains the same: helping people feel connected, cared for, and inspired to return.

RECOVERY, REIMAGINED

As wellness continues to evolve, so do the experiences available at Renaissance ClubSport. Recent additions include Full-Body Red Light by LightStim®, HydroMassage, CryoLounge, contrast therapy, compression therapy, and other recovery-focused offerings designed to help guests and members recharge both physically and mentally. The newly introduced R&R Suite reflects growing interest in recovery, self-care, and overall well-being. Whether recovering from a workout, preparing for a busy day, or simply seeking a moment to unwind, these experiences provide a convenient way to prioritize wellness. Combined with fitness, recreation, dining, and hospitality, they contribute to a more complete approach to healthy living.
