The Gentleman’s Standard

There is something timeless about a true gentleman. It’s not defined by a title, a suit, or even success—it’s defined by character, integrity, and the quiet confidence of someone who shows up, does the work, and leads with purpose.

As we step into our June Gentleman’s Issue, we are proud to highlight the men in our community who embody exactly that.

On our cover, we bring together strength, preci sion, and classic style, pairing a beautifully restored classic car with the professionalism and reliability of Real Property Management Optimal. It’s a reflection of what this issue represents: craftsmanship, pride in one’s work, and a commitment to excellence that stands the test of time.

Throughout these pages, you’ll meet a group of remarkable local businessmen, each driven by grit, vision, and a deep sense of purpose. From the transformative care behind Refined Radiance Aesthetics to the creative storytelling of Shields Films, the compassionate guidance of Garry Olson Interventions and Counseling Services, the trusted expertise of Summit Electrical Services, and the discipline and mentorship at Laguna Fencing Center, each is a testament to what it means to build a meaningful life and legacy.

And of course, behind every great business is a commitment to service, something we see in trusted partners like C&C Plumbing, who continue to keep our homes and community running smoothly.

This issue is a celebration of men who lead with purpose—not just in business, but in life. Fathers, mentors, entrepreneurs, and community leaders who understand that true success is measured not only by what you build, but by how you show up for those around you.

To the gentlemen of our community, this one is for you.

With gratitude,

June 2026

9 Marketing Vacancies

Screening

In a market as dynamic as Orange County, property ownership brings both opportunity and complexity. For many investors, the real question isn’t just what to do with a property but who to trust.

A true white-glove property management company goes beyond tasks. It’s built on trust, transparency, and consistency; qualities that can be hard to find. Too often, firms over-promise to win business instead of offering honest guidance. Our approach is different.

We start by listening to understand each investor’s goals and long-term vision. There’s often a gap between expectations and market reality, and our role is to bridge it with clarity and strategy. Whether it’s a single-family home, multifamily asset, or commercial property, we position each investment to perform over time.

This means thoughtful pricing, thorough tenant placement, consistent communication, and disciplined execution. No shortcuts. No guesswork.

We don’t over-promise, and we don’t under-deliver. We provide service that allows investors to step back with confidence, knowing their asset is managed with precision and care.

For many, this isn’t just about property management. It’s about protecting a lifestyle, preserving time, and strengthening a financial future.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to build lasting partnerships because when the relationship is right, the results follow.

Health-Focused Studio Engages Community On and Off the Mat

Mission Viejo Fit Body Boot Camp has had a successful first half of the year, organizing a Resolution Reboot Challenge focused on sustainable habit changes, a community talk from Dr. Karen on the gut–weight connection, and a group hike along Oso Creek Trail. The studio also led a workout and nutrition and wellness seminars for a local girls’ church group, and hosted a Boot Camp+ seminar and open house featuring nutrition tracking, regular check-ins, in-body scans, and tailored coaching.

Laguna Niguel Event Spotlights Women Entrepreneurs and Local Storytelling

The Laguna Niguel Chamber of Commerce recently invited Saddleback City Lifestyle Publisher Toral Parmar to deliver a presentation on female entrepreneurship in Orange County. Speaking to members of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, she shared the story behind launching and growing the publication, reflecting on challenges, community support, and the emotional journey of building something meaningful from the ground up. The talk underscored the impact of women-led ventures in the region.

Lebanese Eatery Deepens Roots with Aliso Viejo Neighborhood Spot

Zait & Zaatar, a family-run Lebanese restaurant, has steadily extended its reach from Anaheim’s Little Arabia into Aliso Viejo. The neighborhood location serves fresh-baked man’oucheh flatbreads, shawarma wrapped in warm pita, and mezze plates built for sharing. Dishes like spicy potatoes with toum, labneh, fatoush, sujuk, and falafel reflect a menu rooted in home-style cooking. Casual and affordable, the restaurant has become a go-to stop for locals seeking bold, comforting flavors.

A DISCIPLINED APPROACH TO PROPERTY MANAGEMENT, DELIVERING PERFORMANCE SO OWNERS CAN ENJOY THE RIDE

In today’s business world, the modern gentleman is defined less by excess than by control—confidence expressed through precision rather than display.

For Leo Stein, CEO of Real Property Management Optimal, that composure is earned, shaped by experience, perspective, and a disciplined approach to life and leadership.

“Choosing the entrepreneurial path with Real Property Management Optimal wasn’t just a business decision, it was a purpose-driven commitment,” he reflects. “Having lived through the unpredictability of a global pandemic, I’ve come to deeply value the difference between a want and a need. Regardless of economic cycles, be it a recession, crisis, or recovery one constant remains: everyone needs a roof over their head.”

Stein’s ability to distinguish essentials from everything beyond them defines his philosophy. In an industry often reduced to transactions, he prioritizes responsibility.

That philosophy is operationalized through Real Property Management Optimal’s Wealth Optimizer, which shifts the focus from day-to-day property management to long-term asset performance, emphasizing financial clarity, forward planning, and disciplined oversight of investment outcomes.

“My mission is to deliver consistent, compliant, and quality property management services that meet this essential human need,” he says.

At its core, effective management is about careful oversight and a long-range perspective. Stein’s background in human resources, regulatory compliance, and operational leadership has informed a style that is structured and exacting.

“I bring a unique discipline to franchise ownership: one focused on people, performance, and long-term value.”

However, discipline alone does not define the gentleman; adaptability is equally essential. For Stein, a pivotal shift came through a realization about visibility.

“A key turning point in my journey was recognizing the importance of visibility and more specifically, how critical a strategic approach to social media is in building a modern business,” he says. “Social media is not random; it’s driven by algorithms, audience behavior, and consistency.”

By combining analytics with storytelling, Stein expanded his reach while maintaining a high-touch approach.

“That decision fundamentally changed the trajectory of the business,” he notes. “It allowed me to extend beyond traditional networking and position the company in a way that is both modern and scalable without losing the personal, white-glove approach that defines how I operate.”

It’s not about being perfect, it’s about staying disciplined. “Ensuring I meet my clients’ needs is not a one-time effort. It’s a continuous, disciplined process built on listening, communication, and execution.”

His approach centers on consultation, communication, and refinement, guided by anticipation. “Needs don’t always arise on a schedule, and being available creates a level of confidence and trust that’s essential in this business.”

That attentiveness also shapes his definition of success. “The most rewarding part of being an entrepreneur, for me, is reclaiming the value of time and helping others do the same.” The perspective is hard-earned. “Milestones passed, moments were missed,” he says of his earlier corporate years.

For him, entrepreneurship became a recalibration. “It’s about building something meaningful, where effort, discipline, and care translate directly into outcomes for both my clients and my family.”

Stein is candid about the unpredictability of the market. “The industry today is very much a ‘do more with less’ environment,” he notes. “The market will always evolve, and challenges are inevitable. But staying prepared, remaining open to change, and making thoughtful, informed adjustments along the way has allowed me not just to navigate uncertainty, but to continue moving forward with confidence.”

His business is guided by intention; growth follows alignment, not scale. “Rather than chasing volume, the emphasis is on building a portfolio of clients and properties where there is true alignment,” he says.

“I’ve seen firsthand that quality relationships consistently outperform short-term gains.” This observation informs his approach, with trust essential to raising the standard. “Integrity in this field is non-negotiable. Mentorship creates alignment. It elevates the standard of service.”

And professionalism? “It’s reflected in communication, in preparation, and in the ability to remain composed under pressure.”

He often draws a comparison to high-performance driving. “There’s a misconception that speed is reckless. True performance demands heightened awareness, control, and attention to detail. The faster you move, the more disciplined you must become.”

In business, as on the road, precision matters more than speed. “A modern ‘gentleman’ in this industry isn’t defined by tradition alone, but by execution,” Stein concludes. “Composed under

“IT’S ABOUT BUILDING SOMETHING MEANINGFUL, WHERE EFFORT, DISCIPLINE, AND CARE TRANSLATE DIRECTLY INTO OUTCOMES.”

pressure. Decisive with purpose. Detail-oriented without losing momentum. Because in both driving and property management, the goal isn’t just to move fast; it’s to arrive precisely where you intended, with control, confidence, and results.”

In an era defined by constant noise, Stein stands for something far more enduring: disciplined focus, deliberate intention, and execution that speaks louder than image.

The 1965 Shelby Cobra replica featured in this article’s photography was generously provided by local owner, Glenn Zwicker. Originally purchased as a kit in 1999 and assembled over five years in a home garage, the car has since logged more than 43,000 miles, including open track days at Willow Springs and other racecourses. It pays homage to the original Shelby Cobras, a legendary sports car produced from 1961 to 1968, with only 998 ever produced.

WHAT DRIVES YOU OR KEEPS YOU GROUNDED?

What drives me is being able to provide financial stability and freedom for my family. Not having to worry about debt and having my son live a comfortable life without any financial burden in the future. I had a childhood witnessing how hard my parents struggled and stressed to be financially comfortable. It has instilled in me the value of good work ethics.

WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE OR LIFE LESSON YOU LIVE BY?

The one life lesson I live by is to live life to the fullest and give your full commitment and effort. Live without any regrets.

WHAT DRIVES YOU OR KEEPS YOU GROUNDED?

Ever since getting sober in 2010 I have had this intense desire to help people find their way out of the darkness of addiction and find hope again so they can go on to live their best life. What keeps me grounded is my faith in God and the peace that comes from conscious contact with him.

WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE OR LIFE LESSON YOU LIVE BY?

“Live in the solution.” We will always be confronted by problems. We have a choice to unpack and live there and be miserable or we can acknowledge the problem and immediately start looking for the solution. I choose to live in the solution.

WHAT DRIVES YOU OR KEEPS YOU GROUNDED?

My family—especially my three kids—are what keep me grounded and focused. Everything I do professionally ties back to creating stability, setting an example, and building something meaningful for them. They’re a constant reminder to stay disciplined, present, and intentional with how I spend my time and energy.

WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE OR LIFE LESSON YOU LIVE BY?

Work hard and stay consistent—things tend to work out. Not always exactly how you planned, but effort compounds over time. I’ve found that showing up, doing the work, and staying adaptable matters more than trying to control every outcome.

Azat Amirkhan

Licensed Electrical Contractor and Owner Summit Electrical Services

WHAT DRIVES YOU OR KEEPS YOU GROUNDED?

My family. They rely on me, and that keeps me focused. It’s the reason I show up every day, work hard, and try to build something stable for our future.

WHAT IS ONE PIECE OF ADVICE OR LIFE LESSON YOU LIVE BY?

We’re all just people at the end of the day. I’m still learning to be more honest and kind, and honestly, I’ve learned a lot from my clients and the people here in California. I just try to be a little better than yesterday.

Is Whiskey On Ice

Nice?

In speaking to Whiskey lovers (most happen to be men, but do accept me in their brethren as a fellow enthusiast, writer, and educator), I’ve learned a great many opinions on how to drink Whiskey. Specifically, preferences on adding water and ice vary greatly.

A brand ambassador that I had the privilege of listening to recently said the obvious: both dilution and temperature change when you add ice, so if you are going to add something, a little water is best. I personally prefer to use a water dropper, so I can add one drop at a time until I get to the desired taste.

THE BEST WAY TO ENJOY YOUR WHISKEY: ON THE ROCKS, ROCK, NEAT, OR WITH WATER

HERE ARE THE DIFFERENCES:

Rocks: Provides the highest rate of dilution as a lot of ice melts quickly. If you are drinking a barrel proof Whiskey, it kind of defeats the purpose as the distiller didn’t add water as they do in every other type of finished Whiskey.

On the Rock: The single rock, cube, or sphere is the slowest to melt and thought to be the most aesthetic. It’s nice if you want to stretch out your tasting. I often order on the rock if I want my drink to last longer.

Neat: This is the way single malt Scotch is served at a tasting event, in a branded Glencairn or Neat glass so that proper nosing for aromas can be achieved - and a dram of Scotch, smaller than an ounce, fits in them perfectly.

Water: As I mentioned above, quoting the brand ambassador, a little water is better for a fine Whiskey over any kind of ice. Often, if ordered with water, the water is served in a separate vessel on the side so you can add in as much as you want.

Quoting another expert on the subject, Richard Paterson of The Dalmore famously and enthusiastically demonstrates in his Scotch classes how to drink single malt Scotch Whiskey: Paterson fills a lowball glass to the rim with ice, adds Scotch and then ceremoniously throws it over his shoulder onto the carpet of the classroom – because that much ice makes the drink worthless. One more quote, never “add green tea or milk to Whiskey. You can add a little water, but not a lot of ice.”

Ultimately, the reason we add ice can be for aesthetics, to stretch out the time spent on one glass, for cooling, and for dilution. However, the number one reason enthusiasts add water is … drumroll please … because adding a little water actually opens up a Whiskey to show more aromas and flavors.

AN EXCERPT FROM EPISODE 6 OF SHARE THE LIFESTYLE, A CITY LIFESTYLE PODCAST

Photographer: Brittany Dawn Short

Creative Director: Jen Birn

Stylist: Stephanie Coultress O’Neill

Location: Hotel Saint Cecilia, Austin, TX

MIKE JOHNSON HAS BUILT HIS LIFE AROUND ONE QUIETLY RADICAL IDEA: THE STANDARD YOU SET PRIVATELY IS THE ONLY ONE THAT MATTERS.

After eight years in the Air Force, a celebrated run on national television, and a health crisis abroad that sent him deep into supply chains and ingredient certifications most founders never touch, the result is Oshun — a luxury ritual brand built on provenance you can trace and integrity you can verify. In an exclusive conversation for the Share the Lifestyle podcast, Mike shares what it actually takes to build something worth putting your name on. Read the highlights below, then scan the QR code for the full episode.

Q: YOU BECAME A FAN FAVORITE ON THE BACHELORETTE AND THEN LEFT THE SPOTLIGHT. YOU MOVED TO MEXICO, LEARNED SPANISH, THEN COSTA RICA, AND BUILT A COMPANY. WHAT DID THAT EXPERIENCE TEACH YOU ABOUT HUMAN BEHAVIOR?

A: “If you’re a good person going in, that shows. If you’re not, that shows too. I also learned that people form this parasocial relationship with you — they assume things about you. When all actuality, different circumstances bring out different parts of who you are. I was on TV trying to find love. The kindness people were showing after felt a bit fake, because they wanted to be a part of something that isn’t who I am individually, but a part of what they saw on TV. And so I had to get away from everybody and everything and the noise.”

THE QUIET STANDARD:

MIKE JOHNSON

“Too many people have prayed for me. So I’ve got to get up and do the walking.”
— Mike Johnson

Q: YOU JOINED THE AIR FORCE RIGHT OUT OF COMMUNITY COLLEGE. WHAT WERE YOU ACTUALLY RUNNING TOWARD?

A: “There was something in me that was saying: I’m not living up to my full potential. I was being a follower. My uncle said, ‘What’s going to make you become an adult the fastest?’ I said, obviously, the military. The Air Force broadened my thought process more than anything. We’re so caught up in our own perception — when you learn to understand different people’s perspectives, it adds to you in so many ways.”

Q: WITH OSHUN, YOU OWN YOUR MANUFACTURING, YOU EMPLOY A CHEMIST, EVERY PRODUCT HAS A BATCH NUMBER TRACEABLE TO ITS ORIGIN DATE. WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO GO THAT DEEP WITH THE BRAND?

A: “The EU bans 1,100 ingredients in personal care products. The U.S. bans nine. That’s my starting point. Oftentimes, it might be the same ingredient, but it comes from a place where it doesn’t have the highest purity. And 60% of what we put on our skin is absorbed. Every product Oshun makes carries a batch number that goes back to the exact day it was created — I can show you every single supplier, the date, the origin. I own more than one part of the supply chain because that’s the only way I can stand behind what’s in the bottle.”

This conversation is just the beginning. Mike goes deeper into why he’s buying land up north, the family in the Philippines who prayed over his factory floor, and what he’d tell every person ready to stop performing and start building. Scan the QR code for the full, exclusive City Lifestyle interview on the Share the Lifestyle podcast.
