LIFESTYLE LETTER
The Styles of Life and Compassion Style is often associated with fashion, beautiful homes, or the latest trends, but I have come to believe it is something much deeper. True style is reflected in how we live, the places that inspire us, the causes we champion, and the way we choose to impact those around us. In this month's issue you'll discover stories that remind us that style is ultimately an expression of purpose. We celebrate Body Bar Roswell as our cover story proving that style and fitness and life go hand in hand with apparel that takes you through the day in whatever activities you take on. You can be sure to find comfortable wearable fashion inspiration there. Continuing their mission to makeover rooms for special needs children and their families, Sunny and Ranney forge a strong partnership with a home builder to stage custom homes while supporting the mission of shopping for a cause. Close to home, we spotlight The Drake House, where style takes center stage with purpose. For years, this beloved nonprofit has empowered women and children experiencing homelessness by helping families regain stability, confidence, and hope. I had the honor of walking the runway this year and to experience the pure value of true impact - it was a celebration of resilience and the strength of a caring community. Finally, meet Mrs. Georgia America 2026, whose platform extends well beyond the pageant stage. Through intentional leadership, she is inspiring others to build resilience, discover purpose, and believe in their own potential - proof that confidence and kindness are among life's most enduring styles. Thank you for welcoming Roswell City Lifestyle into your home each month. We hope these stories inspire you to embrace your own unique style - in how you live, lead, explore, and leave a lasting impact on those around you. See you @ Alive in Roswell September 17th!

Take the Mystery Out of Menopause
From sleepless nights to hot flashes and brain fog to intimate symptoms, many women feel isolated or embarrassed about discussing what they go through during menopause. At Wellstar, our compassionate women’s health team provides individualized care to help women navigate this stage of life.
Menopause means no more periods. Period.
Menopause is defined as the permanent absence of a period for 12 consecutive months. The average age of menopause in the U.S is 52, but generally, women will experience menopause between ages 45 to 55. Perimenopause describes the season of time surrounding the final period, including several years before and several years after your period has stopped. This is when fluctuations in hormone levels can lead to bothersome symptoms. Think of it as ‘puberty in reverse! During perimenopause, your cycle lengths will vary. Many women experience their periods coming closer together. Hot flashes and night sweats are also common during this transition. Estrogen receptors are found all over our bodies. A decrease in estrogen can affect the part of the brain involved in thermoregulation, resulting in hot flashes and night sweats,” said Dr. Paula Greaves, Chief of Women’s Health at Wellstar. “Research suggests that women who have hot flashes may be at higher risk for developing heart disease. Additionally, research shows that African American women experience more intense and more frequent hot flashes for a longer duration. Women may also experience brain fog, mood swings, fatigue, trouble sleeping, skin and hair changes, decreased libido, joint pain or inability to lose weight.
Many symptoms can be explained by a decrease in estrogen.
The ovaries are the main producers of estrogen. As women age, ovarian follicular function decreases, leading to decreasing levels of estrogen. Estrogen receptors are located in the private areas, bladder and urethra, helping to maintain blood flow, tissue turgor and microbial balance. Therefore, a decrease in estrogen can lead to atrophy. There are risks with decreased estrogen, increasing the risk of infections or urinary leakage. Hormonal and non-hormonal treatments are available and can be beneficial. Your care team will discuss your concerns and health history to tailor a safe, personalized plan that fits your needs.
Even if you no longer have periods, you should still see your OB/GYN.
“I often tell my patients, ‘You are so much more than your uterus.’ Menopause marks the end of menstrual cycles, but it doesn’t mark the end of women’s healthcare,” said Christa Joiner, Certified Menopause Provider and Nurse Practitioner at Wellstar. Your care team will help you stay up to date on screenings like mammograms and Pap smears, and they will evaluate your overall health to help you feel your best. “A women’s health specialist is uniquely trained to care for the whole spectrum of midlife and postmenopausal health—from breast, cervical, sexual health to osteoporosis prevention, urinary, postmenopausal bleeding and menopause symptom management,” Joiner said. “Continuing routine care after menopause helps women stay healthy, identify concerns early and maintain their quality of life for years to come.” If you experience bleeding after menopause, schedule an appointment with your women’s health care team. While troubling symptoms of menopause may be common, you don’t have to go through it alone. “Women deserve to know that they don’t have to simply ‘live with’ the symptoms of perimenopause and menopause, and they don’t have to wait until cycles end to seek care,” Joiner said. “Menopause affects far more than hot flashes—it can influence bone health, heart health, sleep, mood, urinal health and overall well-being. Our goal is to help women feel informed, supported and empowered as they navigate this important stage of life.” Find a Certified Menopause Provider near you at wellstar.org/Menopause.

SMART and BEAUTIFUL Window treatments are trending in the design world. ARTICLE BY SUE G. COLLINS
While the last of summer’s rays flood the house and drapes are drawn mid-day, it’s time to think about the change of seasons and consider easy and budget-friendly interior updates. Window treatments are a key design element that are practical but never boring. With automation options, and more colors, fabrics, textures and styles than you could imagine, it’s time to call in the professionals. For more than three decades, Classic Blinds & Shutters has helped homeowners throughout Metro Atlanta create custom blinds, shades, shutters and draperies. We asked owner Andrea Zare to share her timely thoughts on beautiful and functional window treatments. Classic Style Linen blends, textured woven fabrics, subtle patterns and velvet accents are leading this season’s trends. Pinch Pleat, Euro Pleat and Ripplefold draperies are customer favorites, while understated trim provides the finishing touch. Many of these styles can be automated for simple operation. Automation Motorized window treatments allow homeowners to schedule opening and closing times, control their shades with a smartphone or remote or use voice assistants such as Alexa, Google Home and Apple Home. Hushed motors, rechargeable battery options and one-touch scenes bring convenience with luxury. Color and Texture Warm neutrals like ivory, oatmeal, sand, mushroom, taupe and greige are being paired with olive, cinnamon, terracotta, mocha, charcoal and deep navy. Layering sheer fabrics with decorative draperies creates depth, privacy and a sophisticated designer polish.

Strong Work Outs, Stronger Lives Discover Strength Roswell proves through science that fewer workouts and a little intention change everything. Melanie Barnes, multi franchise owner at Discover Strength, has built her work around helping women and men approach fitness in a way that is both effective and sustainable. With a focus on evidence-based strength training and time-efficient workouts, she specializes in guiding members through a simplified, science-backed approach that prioritizes long-term health, confidence, and real results over trends or extremes. The belief that you need to commit to three to five workouts per week is often enough to stop someone from starting at all. In reality, research shows that strength training just one to two times per week can provide meaningful health benefits when done correctly. The focus is not on frequency alone, but on efficiency, working all major muscle groups and training with enough intensity to challenge the body. This shift in approach makes strength training far more accessible, especially for busy people balancing careers, families, and full schedules. “It’s not about doing more,” Barnes explains. “It’s about doing what’s effective.” While physical changes are often the most visible, they are far from the most important. Strength training has a measurable impact on long-term health outcomes. “Strength training reduces your risk of mortality by about 40%,” Barnes says. “In simple terms, it makes you 40% harder to kill.”

That benefit alone positions strength training as one of the most powerful tools for longevity. It also plays a critical role in preserving bone density, which naturally begins to decline around age 30. Beyond bone health, strength training supports metabolic function and hormonal balance. It improves insulin sensitivity, helping regulate blood sugar and reduce inflammation. There are also significant cognitive and emotional benefits for both men and women. Strength training increases levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor, which supports brain health and the development of new neural pathways. At the same time, it triggers the release of endorphins, serotonin, and dopamine, chemicals that improve mood, reduce stress, and contribute to an overall sense of well-being. For those who feel intimidated by the gym environment, Barnes emphasizes that getting started does not require perfection or

complexity. Slowing down movements, focusing on controlled form, and even beginning at home can be highly effective. “A set of adjustable weights, or even just bodyweight, is enough to get a great workout,” she says. A simple, sustainable routine is often the most effective. Sessions as short as 20 to 30 minutes, once or twice per week, can build strength when centered around compound movements like leg presses, rows, chest presses, and pulldowns. These exercises engage multiple muscle groups at once, maximizing results in a shorter amount of time. Roswell General Manager, Janelle Scott says, “I always tell people that strength training isn’t just for athletes or people who are already fit, it’s about making life a little easier
Janelle Scott, Roswell
and more enjoyable. Whether you’re picking up your grandchild, carrying groceries, or simply wanting to feel stronger and more confident, strength training can help. My favorite part is watching people surprise themselves. They come in thinking they can’t do it, and a few weeks later they’re doing things they never imagined. Then they realize they don’t have to spend hours in the gym to get there. With just two 30-minute strength-training sessions each week, they can build meaningful strength and make exercise something that truly fits their life.” “What I love most about the Roswell community is how welcoming and genuine people are. There’s a real sense of connection here, and I feel fortunate to build relationships with so many incredible people through our studio. My why has always been about helping people become the best version of themselves, not just physically, but in how they feel and show up in their everyday lives. Getting to know our clients, hearing their stories, and being part of their journey is what makes this work so meaningful. Being able to make a positive impact in someone’s life, even in a small way, is what continues to inspire me every day.”

Designing Confidence MRS. GEORGIA AMERICA 2026 INSPIRES THROUGH PURPOSE AND PERSEVERANCE
ARTICLE BY TRAN BUI
24
M UST SE E | ENTERTAI NME N T
Lindsay Shockey, a Woodstock resident, spends her days helping bring spaces to life through thoughtful design. As Mrs. Georgia America 2026, she's applying that same intentional approach to helping others build resilience, purpose, and self-belief. "I was inspired by the incredible women who held this title before me," says Shockey. "Through their service, leadership, and dedication, they created a legacy I wanted to continue." The journey to the crown was years in the making. Along the way, Shockey discovered new strengths, formed lasting friendships, and learned valuable lessons about courage and perseverance. Professionally, Shockey has spent her career helping others see possibilities. A licensed and NCIDQ-certified interior designer, she serves as a Hospitality Interior Designer with Sims Patrick Studio. Her award-winning career includes recognition as the 2013 IIDA Best of the Best Award Winner and leadership as a past president of the Georgia Chapter of the International Interior Design Association. Her passion for design extends far beyond aesthetics. "Design is storytelling," she says. "Inspiration can come from nature, architecture, history, or the people around us. Every space has a story to tell." That creative mindset has also shaped how she approaches life. Whether she's exploring a thoughtfully designed space or spending time with her four year old daughter, Cameron, Shockey has learned the value of slowing down and being present. "My daughter has taught me to appreciate the little moments," she says. "Sometimes those are the moments that matter most." Community service is another cornerstone of her life. Through her initiative, Constructing Confidence, Shockey partners with organizations that promote leadership and community engagement. Her volunteer efforts include support for IIDA Georgia, Keep North
Fulton Beautiful, Community Bucket, Chattahoochee Riverkeepers, and the Atlanta Police Foundation. Balancing pageantry, a demanding career, volunteer commitments, and family life requires intentionality. "One day at a time," she says. "I come from a world of timelines and schedules, so knowing how to prioritize is important. Above all else, I'm a mom first. Making sure my family is taken care of is always the priority." She credits much of her success to the unwavering support of her husband, Clint Myers, and her parents David and Kate Shockey who have stood beside her throughout her pageant journey. "If it weren't for my husband, I wouldn't be a Mrs.," she says with a smile. "He knows how much I enjoy competing and helps however he can. My parents have also been on this journey with me since I was a teen. They've seen the highs and lows and have always been there cheering me on." When she's not working, volunteering, or preparing for appearances, Shockey enjoys spending time with her family in Woodstock and East Cobb. She appreciates the area's small town feel, local parks, community events, and opportunities to connect with neighbors. For women and young girls, her message is simple: stop comparing yourself to others. "Comparison is the thief of joy," she says. "Don't spend your time searching for perfection. Find what makes you happy and excited to get up every day and do it with confidence. You never know what new passion you might discover by simply going for it." Looking ahead, Shockey hopes her legacy as Mrs. Georgia America 2026 will be defined by strength, resilience, and encouragement. "I've faced loss and challenges that made me want to give up," she says. "But I kept moving forward because I knew others were watching. If I can inspire even one person to keep going when life gets hard, that's a legacy I'm proud to leave."

The Drake House's annual fashion show has always been about more than the runway — it's a night where the community comes together to help single moms and their children find stable ground. Their 2 boutiques are stocked with gently-loved treasures, designer handbags, shoes, and closet staples just waiting for a second life. Bring your gently-used goodies for a donation, then swing by to shop the racks and score a steal while supporting moms and kids working toward a fresh start. Nesha Mason, President of The Drake House had this to say about the show: "This is the largest fundraising total in The Drake House history, and it goes further than any one number can show. $207,144 raisied
will fully fund 3-4 families through an entire six-month stay in our crisis housing program — housing, case management, life skills programming, and mental health support included. But what excites me most is how it impacts every family already in our care: more career coaching, more resources for our youth, more groceries and essentials through our on-campus market, more of the everyday support that turns a program into a real path forward. This total does more than increase our reach — it allows families to move further along their path to stability." "Having an alumna share her story is something attendees look forward to every year. What made this year different is that Kirby didn't just tell her story from a microphone. CONTINUED >

Felicia Turner in the encore "Runaway Bride "
She walked the runway and became part of the show itself, letting the audience see the shift in her confidence rather than hear about it. It was something to celebrate. Standing in that light means something enormous to a woman who once lived with the uncertainty of being a single mother with no place to live. That's the resilience I see in so many of our moms. They don't just move through this program, they carry each other through it. Kirby is part of a growing community of former residents staying connected through our alumni network, Professional Women's Career Network (PWCN). And just recently, at our Pillar Awards, where we celebrate families' progress across all five pillars on the path to stability, Kirby spoke directly to current residents, giving them proof of what's possible on the other side of this program." Sharing her personal note as keynote speaker Kirby Gavatt, founder and executive director of The Trich To Stop — a nonprofit supporting people living with Trichotillomania, the hair-pulling disorder she's battled since

childhood — returned to to inspire the next group of women to do the same. For Gavatt, Drake House wasn't just temporary housing. "At the time, Drake House meant relief," she says. "It meant I had support, I didn't have to worry about where I was going to lay my head while I strategically came up with a game plan. That gave me room to breathe and think clearly about my next steps." Coming back this year as keynote speaker felt like closing a loop. "It's proof that I took advantage of the tools and assistance Drake House extended to me, not just while I was in the housing program, but even after I left." Looking out at a room full of women navigating the same uncertainty she once faced, Gavatt's message was simple: there's no shame in needing help. "I wanted them to know they are worthy of help and assistance," she says. "Going through a challenging time and seeking out help isn't something to be ashamed of. It's commendable." She encouraged the crowd to
keep leaning into the community support around them, "because that support can carry you further than you realize." Gavatt's own path to founding The Trich To Stop started long before she had the language for what she was experiencing. Her hair-pulling began in second grade when trichotillomania was barely understood, and not talked about. "I had to give grace to the people who didn't understand it," she recalls. "I became my own best friend." Watching people with other disorders and disabilities receive care and compassion she wasn't getting made her determined to change that through social media, sharing her story and creating space for others to do the same. "Many were hiding from the world, carrying an extreme amount of shame that stunted them. I didn't like it, and I refused to let that continue to be our narrative." She also noticed a lack of representation within the community. "I didn't see many people who looked like me representing this condition. So I wanted to change the narrative, on many different fronts."
Building a nonprofit with no formal background, Gavatt says, wasn't so different from what Drake House residents are doing right now. "I used whatever resources were available to me, every little thing," she says. Her advice to residents starting over: use everything Drake House provides. She also points to something less obvious — reciprocity. "I offered something I had in abundance, or a service that didn't cost me too much time or energy... It wasn't about taking. It was about exchange." Her takeaway: "Building something from nothing starts with recognizing you already have more to work with than you think." If there's one thing Gavatt wishes someone had told her during her own hardest season, it's this: "What matters most is what you do with the season of challenge you're in. Turn that challenge into passion, and turn that passion into something productive." She reminded the audience that hardship, once survived, often becomes the very thing that equips you to help someone else. "Every challenging season is a learning experience. And once you've made it through, if the opportunity presents itself, you can turn around and help someone else with the wisdom and experience you gained." Gavatt is quick to point out that the support doesn't have to end with the event. For Drake House, she encourages the community to keep donating, volunteering, and spreading the word "so more women in need can find their way there like I did." For The Trich To Stop, she says awareness matters just as much as funding — following along on social media, visiting www. thetrichtostop.org, or connecting her with schools and organizations for speaking engagements all make a difference. "Every dollar helps, but so does every share, every conversation, and every introduction." As Gavatt puts it, Drake House and The Trich To Stop are doing work that changes lives in different but connected ways — "one gives people stability, and the other gives people understanding." And a community willing to show up for both, at every stage of someone's healing, is one truly investing in lasting change. thedrakehouse.org

Brenda Smith Designs are full of Purpose, Passion and Beauty ARTICLE BY CITY LIFESTYLE
There is a certain power in women who create not just for beauty, but with purpose. For local-based jewelry designer Brenda Smith, that power is expressed through every piece she brings to life. Her designs are more than adornment—they are deeply personal expressions of strength, story, and individuality. Each sculptural creation reflects a belief that jewelry should do more than complement a woman’s style; it should reflect who she is and what she’s overcome. Brenda’s path into jewelry design began during a pivotal moment, when creativity became both an outlet and a calling. What started as a personal journey has grown into a celebrated career, with her work recognized on a national stage—including 2 placements within the Smithsonian’s permanent collection. Yet, at its core, her work remains grounded in something far more intimate: connection. Inside her studio, Brenda approaches each design with intention—selecting stones for each client's story, shaping metal into forms that feel bold and unexpected, and creating pieces that become part of a woman’s legacy, ART. In a world often driven by trends, her work stands apart as timeless, meaningful, and unapologetically personal. For the women who wear her designs, it’s not just about what they put on—it’s about how they show up. And through her Jewelry as Art, Brenda Smith is helping women do exactly that: step into their story with confidence, beauty, and purpose. We sat down with her to find out more. Your journey into jewelry design is deeply personal—what moment truly changed everything for you? I always knew I enjoyed working with my hands and creating beautiful forms from metals and gemstones. What began as a hobby gradually grew into something more—before long, all of my friends and relatives had already received jewelry gifts from me, so I started selling pieces to support my jewelry‑making habit. The moment I realized I truly had what it took to pursue jewelry as a profession came after my coursework at the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts in San Francisco. Alan Revere assured me that I had the potential, and through those classes, I recognized that my design training would naturally and successfully translate into jewelry design.

AS ART
How would you describe the philosophy behind your designs and what makes a piece distinctly “Brenda Smith”? The philosophy behind my designs begins with concept— something that was deeply ingrained in me during my college years as a design major. My pieces aren’t simply pleasing shapes or gemstones surrounded by other gemstones; they are rooted in meaning and inspiration. What makes a piece distinctly “Brenda Smith” is the balance of concept, form, and function. My work is dimensional and often incorporates movement. Each piece is a miniature sculpture, waiting for a home where wearable art is truly appreciated. Many of your pieces feel like wearable art—what inspires your creative process when starting a new design? My pieces are definitely wearable art, and inspiration comes from many sources. Sometimes it begins with an experience—like watching fireworks on the Fourth of July. With my head tilted back and eyes skyward, I turned to my husband and said, “I see earrings.” He looked at me, brows furrowed, and replied, “Really?” That moment became the beginning of my Celebration Collection. The original earrings were created in pearls for bridal wear and were designed to capture the burst of fireworks in motion. At other times, inspiration comes from a theme or commission, such as when the National League of American Pen Women asked me to design an award commemorating one of its founders, Vinny Ream, a sculptor from the 1800s. I created a contemporary cameo carved with Vinny’s likeness, inspired by the cameo she wore every day—a gift from a cardinal in Rome. Sometimes the gemstone itself tells the story. One example is my objective art piece Light My Fire, inspired by Oregon sunstone, whose colors graduate from clear to orange, yellow, red, gold, brown, and green. I carved a flame from the stone and set it into a fire pot nestled in petrified wood, underlit with a flickering light. And sometimes inspiration comes from a challenge— working within parameters set by a patron who wants to symbolize or commemorate something meaningful to them. In those cases, I’m given guidelines to work within, such as designing a pearl necklace that must be exactly eighteen inches long. Those creative constraints often lead to some of my most rewarding work.

Memorable fresh water pearl necklace
Your work has been worn on red carpets and collected by the Smithsonian—how has that recognition shaped your perspective as an artist? As an artist, I’m drawn to working with people who appreciate fine jewelry that goes beyond beauty and carries meaning. Creating pieces for clients who value that depth is incredibly rewarding. Their appreciation and validation are affirming, and that encouragement fuels my passion and keeps me moving forward as an artist. You specialize in one-of-a-kind and custom pieces—what do you love most about creating something so personal for a client? This is an easy question, because purchasing or commissioning jewelry is inherently an emotional experience. People buy fine jewelry to celebrate milestones, commemorate meaningful moments, or mark one of the most important days of their lives—such as a wedding. Knowing that my work becomes part of those deeply personal stories is incredibly humbling. I feel truly privileged to play a role in those celebrations, whatever form they may take. For women investing in fine jewelry today, what should they be looking for beyond just beauty? For women investing in fine jewelry today, there are certain essentials—much like the little black dress—that form the foundation of a well‑rounded collection. These include pearl earrings and a necklace, diamond earrings, gold bracelets and earrings, and perhaps a simple pendant for everyday wear. Beyond those classics, women who are drawn to one‑of‑a‑kind pieces use jewelry as a form of self‑expression. They’re not just purchasing something beautiful; they’re building a personal legacy creating meaningful objects that carry memories and can be cherished and handed down to loved ones for generations.

DISCOVER TREASURED CONSIGNMENT FINDS AND EXPERT HOLIDAY RUG CARE THAT KEEPS YOUR HOME GUEST-READY.
From soft coastal tones to rich sapphire and eye catching red, our newest collection of rugs are ready to transform any room. Whether you're designing a serene bedroom, a sophisticated living room, or a modern office, a colorful rug adds timeless elegance and warmth. Our consignment collection is constantly changing, so when you find the one you love, don't wait—it may not be here tomorrow. Each gallery piece is a treasured find, offering the quality and character of a fine rug at a fraction of what you'd expect to pay. But a beautiful rug is only half the story. The other half is keeping it that way-especially as the holidays roll in. There's a reason rug cleaners brace themselves every fall. Thanksgiving brings spilled gravy boats. Winter brings muddy boots, wet umbrellas, and grandkids. By New Year's, even the most carefully maintained rug has usually seen better days. At Cristomar, this is the time of year when the phone starts ringing with a familiar question: Can you get my rug ready before family arrives? The answer is almost always yes—but only if it happens fast. “Holiday cleaning calls start in September and our team is ready to make clean, beautiful rugs for the holidays," says Mary Warren, co-owner, Cristomar Fine Rug Cleaning and Repair." It's tempting to think a

rug just needs a good vacuum and maybe a spot treatment before company arrives. But fine rugs—especially wool, fine fibers, and antique pieces—don't respond well to shortcuts. A professional fresh water, deep cleaning makes such a difference in removing dirt buildup. Dirt in walking paths, wine spills, pet stains and odors, can be removed with the proper cleaning process. Pickup/delivery makes cleaning large rugs convenient or rugs can be dropped off with a 15% discount for the fresh water, deep cleaning process. That's why the Cristomar process starts before a single drop of water touches the rug. Every piece is inspected for fiber type, dye stability, and existing wear. From there, cleaning happens from the base of the pile outward, lifting out the dust, allergens, and oils that live deep in the weave—not just what's visible on the surface. All rugs get hand-finished care, the kind that protects both appearance and value. Next is pickup and delivery, so a rug that left looking tired comes back looking just like the day it was brought home—refreshed, restored, and ready for whatever the holidays bring. There's something about a clean rug that changes how a room feels the moment guests walk in. It's the kind of detail people notice without quite knowing, but the room just feels warmer, more finished, more ready. Whether it's a rich navy piece anchoring a holiday dining room or a soft coastal color warming up a guest bedroom, a rug that's been properly cared for does more than sit on the floor. It sets the tone for the whole season. So before the first guest arrives, before the first spill happens, this is the moment to get ahead of it. Book the pickup, let the team do what they do best, and walk into the holidays with one less thing to worry about. Call Cristomar to schedule or visit cristomar.com to find your perfect rug in the gallery before it's gone.

Some stories start with a house. A new partnership is bringing together luxurious homes and a meaningful mission. Sunshine on a Ranney Day, a nonprofit based in Roswell, has teamed up with RED BaRN Custom Homes, a Woodstock home builder known for creating custom homes in North Metro Atlanta. Two of their newly built homes have been
fully staged with furniture and décor from Sunny & Ranney, the nonprofit’s retail store in Roswell. This collaboration gives homebuyers a very unique experience, offering thoughtfully staged homes that highlight quality pieces and also connect buyers to a local, purpose-driven community. Buyers can have move-in inspiration and the satisfaction of supporting a charity with every detail they see. Sunshine on a Ranney Day builds wheelchair-accessible bathrooms, dream bedrooms, and in-home therapy rooms for children with special needs in Atlanta, all at no cost to families. In the past fourteen years, they have completed and delivered over 300 room makeovers for local families, helping children gain more independence and comfort at home. Profits from their Roswell store, Sunny & Ranney, which sells new furniture, high-end décor, and gifts, go directly toward funding these life-changing projects. “This partnership was a natural fit because it gives us another way to share the mission of Sunshine on a Ranney Day and introduce homebuyers to Sunny & Ranney,” said Holly Ranney, co-founder and president of Sunshine on a Ranney Day. “They can find beautiful pieces for their new home while knowing every purchase helps improve the lives of children with special needs throughout metro Atlanta.” There is also a personal side to this partnership. Kristy Grasso, RED BaRN Custom Homes Sales Specialist, who brought the partnership to the home builder and Holly, are sisters. "Staging transforms a house into a place where potential buyers can envision creating their own memories and everyday life." Kristy said. “Sunny & Ranney was an easy choice because the pieces they provide are timeless and beautiful, the team knows how to bring a space together, and every purchase supports Sunshine on a Ranney Day. It is a partnership that feels natural for everyone involved.” Both sisters reside in Woodstock, making this truly a local story. CONTINUED >

BODYBAR Pilates blends fashion and fitness inspiring confidence inside and outside the studio Looking good and feeling good have never been more connected. At BODYBAR Pilates Roswell, wellness extends beyond the workout itself. From thoughtfully designed classes to stylish athleisure and a welcoming community, the studio embraces a lifestyle where confidence begins with movement and carries into everyday life. "The success of our first studio in Alpharetta and seeing all the lives that were impacted by a strong community focused on wellness and supporting one another inspired us to create another amazing studio in Roswell," says General Manager Jennifer Isaac. Since opening in December 2023, the Roswell studio has become more than a place to exercise. It's a welcoming space where members build strength, form friendships, and discover how consistent movement can positively impact every aspect of their lives. That sense of community is one of BODYBAR's greatest strengths. Whether someone is stepping into their very first Pilates class or has been attending for years, every member is encouraged to challenge themselves while supporting those around them. "We absolutely love our members and entire community," Isaac says. "We love to see how they show up for themselves and each other. We especially love to see the connections that are made at this studio and the amazing strength that is exhibited within our walls. Every class is an opportunity to connect with yourself and each other!" The welcoming atmosphere is matched by expert instruction. teaching and Pilates experience. Combined with seven unique class formats and expanded equipment, no two workouts are ever the same, giving members fresh challenges while creating a balanced fitness routine. Pilates has become one of today's fastest growing workouts because it offers something for nearly everyone. As a low-impact form of exercise, it improves strength, flexibility, balance, and mobility while remaining accessible to beginners and experienced fitness enthusiasts alike. Members often notice improvements in how efficiently their bodies move before seeing dramatic physical changes. For those who feel intimidated trying something new, BODYBAR also offers private one-on-one instruction, allowing newcomers to build confidence before joining group classes. "You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. The first step is the hardest but once you get started the only class you will regret is the class you didn't take. It is never too late to start or too early to feel the benefits of BODYBAR," Isaac says. The BODYBAR lifestyle doesn't end when class is over. The studio's boutique features a carefully curated collection of activewear from brands including Spiritual Gangster, Free People Movement, Tavi, Glyder, Mono B, Cream Yoga, ALOHA BAGS, and BODYBAR's own branded apparel. Each brand is selected for its quality, affordability, comfort, and style. “BODYBAR tries to carry items that stand out, offering both style and comfort for studio-to-street wearability.”
Today's athleisure has evolved well beyond workout clothes. Modern performance fabrics and fashion-forward designs allow people to move seamlessly from the Pilates studio to coffee with friends, the office, or weekend errands without sacrificing comfort or style. BODYBAR embraces that philosophy by offering apparel that celebrates individuality while supporting an active lifestyle. As BODYBAR Pilates Roswell continues to grow, its mission remains unchanged: helping people feel stronger, move better, and gain confidence both inside and outside the studio. It's proof that true style isn't just about what you wear. It's about how you carry yourself every day. 1570 Holcomb Bridge Rd, Suite 200 (678) 336-2377 bodybarpilates.com CONTINUED >

MISSION IN MOTION FROM REELS TO REAL IMPACT, LOCAL NONPROFITS LEARN PRACTICAL WAYS TO SHARE THEIR STORIES AND MISSIONS. ARTICLE BY ROSWELL CITY LIFESTYLE PHOTOGRAPHY BY DEE FLORES
Every nonprofit has a mission worth supporting. The challenge is making sure people see it. During the latest Roswell Inc Nonprofit Leadership Academy, local board members, staff and volunteers gathered at Atlanta Academy to learn how real storytelling, simple video, and everyday moments can help their missions stand out and connect with the community. The featured speaker was Tran Bui, Emmy Award-winning journalist, owner of Tran Bui Productions, and Publication Director of Roswell City Lifestyle. Drawing from her background in television news, media production, and years of nonprofit leadership, Bui shared simple strategies organizations can implement immediately using nothing more than a smartphone. Having served as a nonprofit board chair, board member, volunteer, donor, and founder of Little Helpers in 2010, Bui understands the challenges organizations face in building awareness while competing for attention online. Rather than focusing on expensive equipment or complicated marketing strategies, the presentation encouraged attendees to capture things already happening within their organizations. Bui's top recommendations included posting people instead of just flyers, capturing everyday moments, telling stories rather than statistics, recording simple interviews, and showing up before asking for support. She also introduced her Nonprofit Content Formula: one reel to tell a story, one impact photo to showcase the mission in action, and one behindthe-scenes moment each week to keep supporters connected and their organizations visible. The event also highlighted another important goal of the Leadership Academy: bringing local nonprofits together. "It works even better when we all know each other and can talk, figure things out, and support one another," said Steve Stroud, President and CEO of Roswell Inc. "Meaningful stories are already happening every day through volunteers, donors, staff, and the people they serve," Bui added. "The key is simply capturing those moments and sharing them, because your community can't support what they never see."

Sushi Yoko & Tomato Japanese Grocery A family-run Japanese restaurant serving for nearly three decades. One kitchen, two ways to eat well. During the day, SushiYOKO is comfort food. Tonkatsu, donburi bowls, udon, ramen, and lunch sets, the honest Japanese cooking you would find at a neighborhood spot back home. Nothing fussy. Just good. At night, the counter turns to omakase. A seasonal tasting course built around fish flown in from Toyosu Market in Tokyo, served at the pace the chef sets. Same room, two very different concepts. That is the whole idea. If you can sit with us, we will cook for you. If you cannot, you can pick up onigiri, a bento, or one of the first sushi push pops in Atlanta from Tomato2 and take a piece of SushiYOKO home with you. sushiyokoatl.com 8560 Holcomb Bridge Rd Ste. 108

CAMP ROCK 3 BUS TOUR BRINGS MAGIC TO ROSWELL
DISNEY'S NATIONWIDE CAMP ROCK 3 BUS TOUR STOPPED AT CAMP HIGH MEADOWS, BRINGING PHOTOS, BANDANAS, AND MUSIC TO ROSWELL CAMPERS. ARTICLE BY CITY LIFESTYLE PHOTOGRAPHY BY JAKE GILES NETTER
Camp Rock Tour Bus
A special bus tour made a stop a local summer camp in Roswell to bring a bit of magic. The All Roads Lead to Camp Bus Tour traveled across the US and it chose Camp High Meadows for a stop along the way. Excited Roswell campers who love the Camp Rock movies were thrilled the tour rolled through to build buzz ahead of the next installment. "I am so excited, I've seen all the different promotions about the movie and I'm just waiting for when it comes out," says Avery Janson, a senior camper at Camp High Meadows. Camp Rock 3 premiered this summer, with Disney marking the occasion through the coast-to-coast bus tour, which launched in Nashville over the Fourth of July before making stops across the country ahead of its finale at D23: The Ultimate Fan Event in Anaheim was in mid-August. The movie picks up with the band Connect 3 losing their opening act ahead of a big reunion tour, sending them back to their beloved Camp Rock to find the next big thing — sparking rivalries, new alliances and a few unexpected romances along the way. Joe Jonas, Nick Jonas and Kevin Jonas all return to reprise their roles, alongside a new class of camper characters. The tour partnered with the American Camp Association to stop at accredited camps nationwide, also offering "camperships" — scholarships that help underserved kids afford the summer camp experience. Camp High Meadows' stop brought its own local flavor to the celebration: campers took Polaroid photos, colored Camp Rock 3 bandanas, and danced along to songs from the franchise, giving Roswell kids a taste of the movie magic before it hit the screens. h t t p s : // t h e w a l t d i s n e y c o m p a n y. c o m / n e w s / a l l -roads-lead-to-camp

competing for top honors and visitors enjoying a one-of-a-kind experience. Hosted at Lanier Islands Resort, the event goes beyond the show field. Guests can enjoy waterfront activities, aviation demonstrations, and the warm hospitality that has become a hallmark of Carroll's events. At its heart, however, the experience is about connection. When asked what he hopes people take away from the event, Carroll points to the friendships and camaraderie that develop among attendees, along with the chance to see remarkable vehicles that rarely leave private collections. That passion for preserving the past also lives in his own garage. His first collector car, a 1936 Ford known as "Old Blue," remained in the family for more than four decades and became a familiar sight in Roswell parades. Today, a 1998 Aston Martin DB7 Volante is the standout in his collection. Through every event, Carroll continues to prove that while cars may capture attention, it's the people, stories, and shared experiences that create lasting memories.
ARTICLE BY TRAN BUI
For Philip Carroll, great events are built the same way great automobiles are: with vision, craftsmanship, and attention to every detail. A longtime Roswell resident, Carroll grew up watching his parents create memorable experiences through The Atlanta Jazz Party, a nationally recognized event that attracted music lovers from across the country. Years later, when attendance began to slow, Carroll and his wife, Pualani, found inspiration in another driving passion: collector cars. That spark led to the creation of The Atlanta Concours d'Elegance and later the Roswell Motoring Festival. After attending some of the nation's premier concours events, Carroll saw an opportunity to create something uniquely Georgian while bringing people together through a shared appreciation for automotive history and design. The Roswell Motoring Festival has become a local tradition, while The Atlanta Concours d'Elegance continues to draw enthusiasts from across the Southeast. The multi-day event showcases exceptional automobiles, motorcycles, and boats, with owners

Atlanta's culinary A-team is Birmingham-bound, here's your excuse for food-fueled road trip
ATLANTA CHEFS ARE WESTBOUND FOR SOUTHBOUND ARTICLE BY KALI MCNUTT | PHOTOGRAPHY BY CALEB CHANCEY A crew of Atlanta chefs is crossing state lines this September for Southbound Food Festival, Birmingham's award-winning 10-day celebration of Southern food culture — and leading the pack is one of our own: Anne Quatrano. The Bacchanalia and Star Provisions chef, a 2003 James Beard Award winner for Best Chef: Southeast, will receive Southbound's 2026 Frank Stitt Award for Industry Excellence and headline the opening-night Heritage Dinner: Chicken & the Egg on Friday, Sept. 18. Now in its fourth year, Southbound draws more than 100 chefs, farmers, and makers from across the country to celebrate Southern foodways — and this year, Atlanta chefs are showing up in force.
JOINING QUATRANO:
• Erika Council (Bomb Biscuit Co.) — 2024 James Beard semifinalist, Food & Wine Best New Chef • Arnaldo Castillo (Tio Lucho's) — 2024 James Beard semifinalist • Todd Richards (Waldorf Astoria Buckhead, Que-Riosity) — fourtime James Beard semifinalist • Virginia Willis — James Beard Award-winning cookbook author (Lighten Up, Y'all) • Kyle Bryner (Blue Hound Barbecue) — 2025 BBQ Brawl winner, Team Bobby Flay • Robert Butts (Auburn Angel) — two-time Taste of Atlanta winner, American Restaurant Battle champion
• Shaun Doty (Jules at Barnsley Resort) — James Beard semifinalist, Best New Restaurant • Rounding out the group: Drew Belline (No. 246), Carla Tomasko (Bacchanalia), and Erica Barrett (SOCU).
PLAN YOUR WEEKEND
Southbound runs Sept. 18–27, opening with Friday's Heritage Dinner and ROOTED: Women in Food on Sept. 19, followed by a week of HOSTED pop-up dinners around town. Build your trip around weekend two: Southern Living's Food & Fire, Saturday, Sept. 26 at Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark — a full day of open-fire cooking under the old furnace stacks. Regional and national pitmasters create impressive small bites alongside cooking demos at the Southern Living Tailgate Stage, live music from Marc Broussard, Jon Cleary, and the Absolute Monster Gentlemen, and a craft beer and wine garden at the Avadian Credit Union Tailgate Lounge. One ticket covers all tastings; kids under 12 are free with a ticketed adult; rain or shine. The festival closes Sunday, Sept. 27 with Funk Brunch: Juke Jam, a blues-and-soul brunch at the Sloss Furnaces. For lodging, The Kelly Birmingham is Southbound's official hotel. For something quieter, the Valley Hotel in Homewood and the Grand Bohemian Hotel in Mountain Brook are minutes from downtown, tucked into walkable shopping villages. southboundfoodfest.com
