Welcome to Our Spring Home Issue
Home. So much contained in that little four letter word. Home is our grounding. Our base. Our launchpad. It’s where we start and end each day. And while it looks different for each of us, the meaning and value for all of us is undeniable.
Author Wendy Wunder said, “The magic thing about home is that it feels good to leave, and it feels even better to come back.” As we thought about home, we wanted to highlight what makes it special to our readers. That of course includes the food and drinks, the aesthetic and design, and much more.
I love coming home at the end of the day, pouring a glass of wine and sitting by a fire, or reading some good daily mantras to relax.
We feel blessed to learn more about the businesses in Roswell and hope the small lens into their lives and work spark an interest for you, our readers. As you flip through the pages of this issue, we hope you’ll feel encouraged and connected to the many stories from them about design, trends and all things home!
Every month, we hear from our readers who keep this magazine for longer than just the month labeled on the cover. They say they hold onto it for months as coffee table art or an accessory in their home. We feel proud to create a resource that is valued in our community and strive every month to deliver the value you expect. Thanks for letting us be a part of your home.
Hope to see you around our great town of Roswell and we encourage you to continue to support our local businesses featured throughout our pages. They are instrumental in helping bring our magazine to life each month!

MEET OAKLEY!
Oakley was born in China in March of 2014. She was found in a baby box, and taken to the orphanage. Oakley has Spina bifida. Her medical file looked really complex and scary, but the moment her family saw her picture, none of it mattered and they adopted Oakley. Because of her Spina bifida, Oakley is paralyzed mid thigh down. She uses a wheelchair but when she is at home, she likes to be out of her chair, so she will scoot around using her arms. Oakley is the happiest, most joyful child you will ever meet. She’s the one who reminds her family to be grateful, and to find joy in everything. Oakley’s parents were carrying her in and out of the house and also having to lift her into a tub and help her with everything in the bathroom. Sunshine on a Ranney Day, with a sponsorship of Gas South and amazing design by Linen & Flax, revealed a new accessible bathroom and wheelchair ramp. Now Oakley is able to gain independence and experience even more sunshine in her life!
Proudly presented from our non-profit, renovating homes for children with special needs at zero cost to the family.

GEORGIA Ovarian Cancer ALLIANCE
ARTICLE BY SEAN O’KEEFE PHOTOGRAPHY BY JOLIE LOREN PHOTOGRAPHY
AWARENESS AND EDUCATION
LEADS
The Georgia Ovarian Cancer Alliance (GOCA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness about ovarian cancer, providing support to survivors and their families, and funding the nationally recognized “Bag of Hope” program. Through community outreach, events, and resources, the alliance strives to empower women with knowledge about symptoms and risk factors leading to early detection.
My work has made me realize that everyone has a voice in the prevention of this disease and that we all need to be advocates for awareness and early detection. Clearly, ovarian cancer is a women’s disease, but men can play a crucial role in educating people about ovarian cancer by raising awareness and fostering open, thoughtful conversations. Supporting female partners, friends, and family members in seeking regular check-ups and discussing women's health openly helps break down the social taboos surrounding ovarian cancer.
Men can participate in awareness campaigns, share information through social platforms, and encourage a proactive approach to healthcare, ultimately contributing to early detection and improved outcomes for ovarian cancer. Empathy, shared experiences, and a commitment to advocacy create a powerful bond, making community a stronghold for those navigating the complexities of ovarian cancer, promoting awareness, and driving positive change.
Please join us as we celebrate at the GOCA 2024 Shaken, Not Stirred Gala at the Georgia Aquarium on Saturday, March 9. Your support of and belief in the GOCA mission and your attendance at the Shaken, Not Stirred Gala, is the reason this event is one of the premier ovarian cancer awareness events in the country.

BE BOLD
TREND SETTER | HOME + DESIGN
Express Your Vibrancy in Shades of Color
32
Move over minimalism, whites and grays, and cool monochromatic tones, and make way for cozier, warm, earthier color schemes, more daring pops of color, statements of individuality through design, and dare I say… the boldness of authenticity expressed in our homes. Like a colorful, statement piece of artwork on a neutral wall color, we can feel free to be vibrantly authentic from the foundation of our home environments.
HOW DO WE START ADDING SOME SPICE TO OUR LIVING ENVIRONMENTS?
1. Move away from pale grays and stark whites by incorporating an all-over off-white paint color with a strong touch of your favorite undertone, such as apricot, green, or blue.
2. Place more colorful artwork, throw pillows, and accent pieces in your existing white and gray rooms for a less permanent and possibly more cost-effective change.
3. Afraid to go too bold too fast? Use a midtoned hue paint color on a larger area, like your kitchen cabinets or a wall color in one room.
CONTINUED >
33 | CITYLIFESTYLE.COM/ROSWELLGA MARCH 2024
4. Want to dip your toe into the bold waters? Choose a vibrant wallpaper for a bathroom, bedroom, or dining room. Pick a paper that expresses the motif of a favorite destination, a splash of your favorite colors, or reminds you of an activity you enjoy most. Express your life desires in the wallpaper.
5. Go all in on one room and make it your “trendy room.” For example, your primary or guest bathroom could be a retreat filled with your favorite warm colors in the tile, wood, and textiles. I bet when you entertain, everyone will want to visit your bathroom!
6. For all-over inspiration, pick a multi-colored rug or piece of artwork with your favorite colors and coordinate the wall color, fabrics, and accessories to carry the theme of that piece throughout that room or even your whole house.
Leah Alexander of Beauty Is Abundant, an Atlantabased design firm, says, “I see the appeal of gray and white kitchens and endless beige bouclé tapering off in favor of vibrance, saturation, and increasingly edgy color combinations.” Seeing people's lifestyles and homes come alive with personality, individuality, and authenticity is exciting. Like consciously building the layers towards self-actualization in Maslow’s Hierarchy, color and self-expression aesthetically layered upon the foundation of a secure and comforting home show us that we are collectively climbing to a better place. Let’s celebrate our transcendence from challenging times and invite each other to live boldly and brilliantly.

A VOICE FOR KINDNESS AND BEAUTY BEYOND APPEARANCE
LOCAL LIMELIGHT | EDUCATION

In a world where beauty is often confined to the surface, 16-year-old Lexie Delaney of Calhoun emerges as a powerful voice for kindness and a passionate advocate for the beauty that lies within each of us.
Lexie admits, “There are times I wish I could look different or that I would not get bullied.”
Lexie was born with Treacher Collins Syndrome, an inherited condition where bones in the face do not form. She’s been in and out of hospitals all her life, and has had 211 procedures and surgeries so far. All of this was too much for her biological parents, so Amy and Derron Delaney adopted her, adding to their family of 10 children - six with special needs. Lexie’s story mirrors the challenges faced by Auggie Pullman, the fictional character from the popular book and movie Wonder.

“When I was first born, I didn’t look so great. I was also mute because I couldn’t hear, so I learned sign language," says Lexie. "When I finally got hearing aids, another world opened for me and I started to use my voice.”

Design IN SAVANNAH
THE KIMPTON BRICE HOTEL
ARTICLE BY SUE G. COLLINS
TRAVEL JOURNAL | HOME + DESIGN

The Davenport House Museum
Dating back to the 1860s, the storied buildings that are now the Kimpton Brice Savannah Hotel housed a livery stable, cotton warehouse, foundry and machine shop, wholesale grocer and Coca-Cola bottling plant, before becoming The Mulberry Inn in 1982. When transformed into the Brice in 2014, the Savannah gray color palette was used throughout the property to provide a calming and neutral envelope for more contemporary layers of interior design elements that are welcoming, charming, sophisticated and playful.
The story behind the general design was to maintain a sense of wonder – ethereal, dreamy and magical – while also uplifting
furnishings and finishes to feel curated with a European sensibility. The color palette is soft and subdued with rich textures and a newly added bookcase to tie back to Savannah’s literary history. The art featured throughout the property is a collection of local and national pieces.
You’ll want to take the fun fringe chairs in the lobby home with you. A metal screen pays homage to the iron gates that can be found walking through stately neighborhoods surrounding the Brice.
My favorite nearby historic building is The Davenport House Museum. In 1955, the c. 1820 Isaiah Davenport House was set to be demolished to be made into a surface parking lot. It was saved by a group of seven intrepid women, who blocked the demolition, purchased the property, and formed the Historic Savannah Foundation
(HSF). The House opened as a museum in 1963. The HSF saved it and preserves it still today. Be sure to include a tour when you stay at the Brice, which is off the beaten track in historic downtown Savannah, steps from the revitalized riverfront and all the fun, but without the noise and frivolity.
There’s a sweet hidden garden where you can have morning coffee or work (if you must). The hotel restaurant, Pricci, serves southern-inspired Italian classics. We liked the étouffée and southern biscuits for breakfast and short rib marsala for dinner. The menu is impressive and surprising. And, there’s nothing better than a gorgeous meal in your hotel and a nightcap by the pool before wandering up to bed.

Atlanta-based architect Stan Dixon has received tremendous media attention since the founding of his firm D. Stanley Dixon Architect, Inc. in 2006. His highly-anticipated debut book showcases thirteen projects from across the country. This husband-and-wife team combined their talents to create a historic home that is both a personal retreat designed for everyday life and a constant source of inspiration for their other projects.

VILLA D'ESTE: LEGEND ON LAKE COMO
In 1568 Tolomeo Gallio commissioned a grand villa overlooking Italy’s magnificent Lake Como. After two centuries in the Gallio family, Villa d’Este became home to multiple members of the aristocracy before being transformed into an elegant five-star resort in 1873. After 150 years of catering to an endless array of famous guests wishing to immerse themselves in “la dolce vita,” Vila d’Este stands as an example of blending tradition and modernity to create absolute luxury.
PALM BEACH STYLE: THE ARCHITECTURE AND ADVOCACY OF JOHN AND JANE VOLK
In the 1920s, American royalty wanted to establish a winter retreat and show off their newfound wealth. Building grand homes inspired by European palaces, they created one of the world’s most famous resort towns. Commissioned to design over 2,000 projects during his sixty years of practice, John Volk’s legacy as one of the “big five” architects of Palm Beach, can now be seen on almost every street.

Wine Time

When families gather, good things happen.
The renovation of this bonus room in a downtown Roswell home now offers a sophisticated and warm gathering space for the family, with fine wine as the focus.
“The mix of materials helps the wine room feel like a cellar, but at the same time gives some warmth and elegance to the space,” says Scott Blair, managing partner of Rainey Blair Weidmann. “The warm wood shelves help break up the strong stone wall. The shelves also give a place to add some personal character to the room.”
Ranney Blair Weidmann added dark cabinets and dark quartz countertops to help bring in a transitional ambiance. With a strong showing of stone and tile in the room, the added wood backdrop to the cable wine system helps soften the tone.
Smart use of exterior rated steel and glass doors helps to keep the party noise from escaping upstairs. “While the doors help separate the space, they also offer a stunning greeting as you walk down the stairs into this magnificent wine room,” says Scott. Perfect!
“While this project is beautiful, the events around this project and family taught us a lot more. They taught us to cherish every moment with our families and loved ones. Celebrate their lives and recognize their influence in the world is more than meets the eye,” notes Scott.
Peter Ranney, Dan Weidmann and Scott work from their showroom and design center on Oak Street. They are passionate about creating a rewarding and enjoyable experience for clients, employees, and trade partners.

Two successful real estate professionals
58
Cathy Treible and Donna Sullivan are dynamic businesswomen. Their partnership with Ansley Real Estate and Christie's International Real Estate means they have a national and international reach for and with clients. For them, it's about more than comprehensive and professional marketing, sophisticated technology, and expert market knowledge, supporting the highest standards of service.
"We care deeply about our clients' individual situations, goals, and dreams. Real estate is so much more than buying, and selling houses," says Cathy. "Everyone desires love
and connection in a home and community and it’s our passion to connect clients to the perfect place where they can share their lives with those they love."
The real estate market is so exciting and challenging right now with the current inventory shortage. "We have great connections with both community members and agents that allow us to stay ahead of what’s coming to market, what’s shifting, and how to help our clients win," says Donna. "To play our part - whether it’s finding an amazing off-market listing, winning out on multiple offers for a
first-time home buyer, securing the dream lake house or connecting to the luxury $3 million mountain homes - our secret sauce is that we love what we do."
For sellers, it’s about return on investment, engaging and effective marketing and managing the stress of the process. Donna and Cathy have a keen eye for design along with connections to the best contractors, stagers and painters who will make a home shine.
"Recently, one of our luxury listings was previously listed with another firm. The over $2 million home was masterfully styled by our expert stager, which allowed us to increase the last offer price from the previous listing," explains Cathy. "The incredible home received multiple, full-price offers in just 3 days!"

Donna Sullivan and her daughterin-law Sarah Sullivan
Their clients become their friends as they navigate the journey together. "The reason clients choose us is because we are experienced, honest, connected, compassionate and we are skilled negotiators. We surround ourselves with industry experts and love to have fun," says Donna who grew up in Dunwoody. Cathy lives in downtown Alpharetta and is also a proud Lake Lanier homeowner.
"Atlanta has so many fabulous communities, all with unique personalities. We are blessed and grateful to be trusted real estate advisors to many and love helping people 'Love Where You Live,'" they say.
The two are the duo behind last year's Tour of Homes benefiting The Cystic
Fibrosis Foundation. Donna’s daughter Erin Sullivan passed away suddenly at the age of 17 from complications of cystic fibrosis, a progressive, genetic disease. Donna’s son Keenan suffers from cystic fibrosis metabolic syndrome as well as cerebral palsy. In people with CF, a defective gene causes a thick, sticky buildup of mucus in the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. In the lungs, the mucus clogs the airways and traps bacteria leading to infections, extensive lung damage, and eventually, respiratory failure. When Erin died, the Willow Springs Community
sprang into action. Homeowners opened their homes and the home tour was launched. Follow Cathy and Donna to find out more about the next tour.

Spring trends for a more joyful home
ARTICLE BY SUE G. COLLINS
1. Add a dash of personality to a room by painting the ceiling and doors in colors different from the walls.
2. Textured and patterned tiles are replacing white subway tiles in bathrooms. Hanging tiles vertically is a fun twist.
3. Chrome is making a comeback. Black fixtures popular in the modern farmhouse look are out, and high-shine is in.
4. The move away from the farmhouse look means that color is back, even on walls!
5. Pattern on pattern. Designers are wild about fun patterns this year. Express yourself!
6. Dopamine decor and joyful aesthetics. Lots of pops of bright colors and fun shapes trigger happiness and delight.
7. Curvilinear and flowy furniture are appealing. Curved sofas and upholstery pieces, organic shaped coffee tables and end tables.
8. Bouclé fabric offers texture and motion, popular for a few years and still gaining fans.
9. Brown is back in the color pallet. Bring pops of it into your home through accessories, pillows, and linens.

Your Home, Your Way
ARTICLE BY STACY CONDE PHOTOGRAPHY BY COURTNEY LINDBERG
As a member of Roswell Rotary for several years, Ken Carter felt the strong sense of community that permeates throughout Roswell’s businesses and neighborhoods. When he started looking for a business to purchase, one of his main criteria was that it had to be based in Roswell. He purchased the Roswell location of Floor Coverings International® in 2022 with the mission to bring that same sense of community to their way of doing business. Here’s how they do it.
Traveling from showroom to showroom can be overwhelming and feel like a chore. Looking at floor samples in a store, without the benefit of seeing them in your home, is challenging.

Ken Carter, owner of Floor Coverings International in his "office," his mobile showroom.
“THERE’S NO DOUBT THAT YOU’RE GETTING THE ‘A-TEAM’
ON
YOUR FLOORING PROJECT.”
Floor Coverings International in Roswell kicks travel and guesswork to the curb, literally, with their concierge experience that brings everything to your doorstep.
Book a free, in-home consultation and the Mobile Flooring Showroom® van comes to you with thousands of samples and an expert design associate. Owner Ken Carter and his team work with customers through every step of a flooring project, from selection to installation. They are proud of the work and service they deliver, to the point that their motto is “We are not happy until you are happy!” At the conclusion of a project, they like to schedule a final walk-through to make sure customers are 100 percent satisfied. With nearly 100 Google reviews at 4.9 stars, those are some pretty happy customers!
The collaboration starts with an in-home consultation. The length of an appointment varies, based on the customer’s design plans. There are no hard sales tactics and no one-size-fits-all approach in Floor Coverings International’s process. A three-story home may need different flooring for bedrooms, kitchen and living room, while one flooring choice throughout may suit a one-story, ranch-style home.
During the consultation, a design associate will discuss the customer’s vision for their new floors and then pull samples from the Mobile Flooring Showroom to bring into the home. Ken Carter explains, “We don’t ask our customers to come out to our van to see samples. Part of the concierge experience is spending time with them to understand their flooring problem and their vision for new floors.” Different flooring types and colors can be reviewed in the room they are intended for - set within the home’s environment with lighting and current decor. There’s no better way to plan an interior design project than having abundant samples at hand, in-home, with a design expert.
The Floor Coverings International Mobile Flooring Showroom is stocked with more than 3,000 flooring options. There are 110 different carpet styles alone, along with samples in every major flooring

Design Associate, Mike Ryan and owner, Ken Carter believe shopping for flooring should be done in the home, surrounded by the furnishings it will complement,, not in a showroom.
FLOOR COVERINGS INTERNATIONAL ALPHARETTA (SERVING NORTH FULTON)
Your flooring is often the first thing visitors notice upon entering your property or residence. Quality flooring can do wonders for the aesthetic of your home, as well as enhance its value. Whether you are interested in exotic-looking hardwood floors, or affordable carpet installation services, your local flooring installers at Floor Coverings International Alpharetta will help you find the look and feel that is perfect for you.
Ken’s company has the best customer service rating for the industry. “We strive to build trust from our first interaction with you,” says Ken. “Our Design Associates work with you to ensure you have all the facts about the product you choose and the details for your flooring installation.”
Floor Coverings International® goes the extra mile in customer service, by returning to your property after installation to inspect and make sure your new floor is impeccable.

category, from major suppliers like Shaw, Mohawk, Dreamweaver, Cali Floors, Bruce, Durato and many more. There is something for every style and budget. If the van doesn’t have what the customer is looking for, design associates can work with them to locate other options, get more samples and schedule follow-up appointments. Ken says, “We will find the perfect floor to meet our customers’ vision and we will keep coming back to their homes until they are satisfied with their decisions.”
Style and color may be the driving factor in choosing new flooring, but maintenance is just as important when choosing the right material for a home. Care is specific to the product and type. For example, some laminate flooring is steam mop-approved, but this is not the case for all laminates. Some carpets are treated with a stain-resistant finish. Proper cleaning methods can be discussed and demonstrated in-home during a consultation.
Trends in flooring for 2024 include increased durability, affordability and… the comeback of carpet! Ken says, “We are seeing products that are more durable and more economical. For instance, there are hybrid floors that are waterproof, but yet have a real wood look and feel. Another exciting trend for 2024 is the comeback of carpet. With more people staying home, they are looking for that soft, warm feel of carpet beneath their feet.”
Floor Covering International’s expert installers are craftsmen who have decades of experience and specialize in specific flooring products. Every installer is a vetted member of Ken’s extended team and they deliver quality work every time. There’s no doubt that you’re getting the “A-team” on your flooring project. “We don’t have one guy who can lay any type of floor,” Ken explains. “The carpet team specializes in carpets and stair runners. Another team focuses on floating floors such as Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) and laminates. We have another team that is solely dedicated to new hardwood floors and sand/refinishing, and we have another team dedicated to tiles.” Ken, design associate Mike Ryan, installation coordinator Kelli and the whole team at Floor Coverings International bring their design expertise and a Roswell community spirit to everything they do.

"What I’m most excited about, especially midway through what seems to have been a long and dreary winter, is a return to vibrant colors, bold patterns and earthy textures," says Ryan, "all reflected in fabrics, wallpapers, art, rugs, and accessories."
"Wallpaper is as strong as ever and it doesn’t appear to be going away anytime soon," says Ryan. This month, she shares looks that evoke spring's awakening.

I liked the way that he explained the Trust process...Setting up a trust does not mean you have a lot of money - for me it came down to having everything under one “umbrella” - and the assurance that my son will not have to take care of things during an already stressful time. Oren is detail oriented and is knowledgeable about the laws regarding trusts and estates. I also feel he is trustworthy - something you can’t always be sure about in a lawyer.” ― THERESA S., ROSWELL, GA www.orenrosslaw.com | 300 Colonial Center Pkwy #100, Roswell | (678) 250-4281 J. WOVEN + KNOTTED
LIVING BOHO-CHIC WITH WOVEN TEXTURES AND MACRAMÉ
Decorate your space with handmade textures such as the modern, maker revival of 1970s macramé and year-round tropical feel of wicker. MACRAMÉ Made through knotting instead of weaving, macramé can add a unique touch in many various ways. Houzz contributor Laura Gaskill suggests incorporating it as nursery decor, plant hangers, wall hangings and modern fiber arts. WICKER According to Houzz contributor Yanic Simard, “the best way to really embrace the luxury-cottage appeal of wicker and rattan is to combine different forms of the two in one space... Look for other unexpected places to add a natural twist to your home with a new material woven into your palette.”
AGAINST THE GRAIN BRIGHTS + WHITES
TIPS FOR DECORATING WITH NATURAL MATERIALS
Houzz contributor Katie Treggiden offers many ways to incorporate natural materials and natural-state timber into your home, including using wood to cover one wall in a home for a pleasing accent wall; featuring your firewood as a striking, stacked display; and mixing different types of wood and different finishes in the same space. “A simple way to incorporate the wood trend is to expose structural wooden beams already present in your home,” Katie says. “Instead of painting them or boxing them in, leave them raw or give them a coat of wax to enrich the tones.”
ADDING TASTEFUL POPS OF COLOR TO YOUR WHITE ROOM
Do you feel like your all-white room is missing something? Houzz contributor Kelly Porter bets what’s missing is energy.
“The best way to add a spark to any space,” she says, “is with bright color.”
Kelly says green is one of the easiest colors to live with, looking organic even in its more vivid tones.
“When searching for the perfect bright green, think springtime—fresh green grass and newly sprouted leaves,” she says. “These greens have lively undertones that will look comfortable and warm in your white space.
Other colors Kelly recommends adding as accents are yellow, royal blue, orange, blue-purple, red-purple and sky blue.

The City of Roswell Presents
Profiles in Leadership
Roswell’s Beckie Hawkins combines her passion for history, theatre, the arts, and recreation in her new leadership role with the City.
It’s 2 p.m. on a typical Wednesday afternoon, and Beckie Hawkins has already traversed the many and varied artistic and historic landscapes of Roswell, Georgia—well, at least in terms of the meetings she attended.
She started her day at Mimosa Hall to discuss upcoming improvements, then headed to the Cultural Arts Center to work through the details of the next season of productions. Before lunch, she met with staff to strategize about active adult and adaptive programming before sitting down to prioritize capital improvement projects. Navigating smoothly among the realms of history, art, and recreation is all in a day’s work for Roswell’s Deputy Director of Recreation, Parks, Historic, and Cultural Affairs.
“My days are busy, but exciting and meaningful! I feel like the work I’ve done at the City of Roswell has been the most authentic work in my career. I am able to focus on the things I love—art, history, community, nature—and do so with a dedicated and talented team,” says Beckie.
Growing up in nearby Marietta, Beckie became interested in theatre and art early in her life. She started performing in stage productions when she was in third grade, sparking a lifelong interest in the way the arts impact people. Her favorite role to date was as Anne Frank.
“Something about art and its connection to the human experience always spoke to me. How people could express themselves through different artistic methods and how it connects us—it’s fascinating to me.”
Beckie stayed active in the theatre and arts all throughout her early school years. After graduating from Sprayberry High School, she spent two years at the College of Charleston, studying theatre and art history, before undertaking a college internship experience at Walt Disney World, where she learned about the business side of the entertainment world and the dynamics of working for a large corporation.
Beckie continued her education at Flagler College in St. Augustine, where she resumed her theatre major, with a minor in communications. During summer break, Beckie worked as a camp counselor at the Chattahoochee Nature Center. She was so successful in this role that the Nature Center hired her as the full-time camp coordinator once she graduated from Flagler. Beckie became fully immersed in creating vibrant and memorable experiences for campers and becoming more connected to the Roswell community.
After detouring to an Architect and Engineering firm for a couple years, Beckie connected with Steve Stroud (now executive director of Roswell Inc.), who invited her to work for what was then the Roswell Business Alliance (RBA). Beckie orchestrated operations and communications and helped transition the RBA into Roswell Inc. She also launched creative, community-wide initiatives like Roswell Restaurant Week and Summer Sippin’.
During this time, Beckie became a founding board member for the Roswell Arts Fund, which reconnected her to a true passion of the arts and its impact on the community. Through this process, she fell in love with the rich historic, cultural, and artistic assets Roswell offers. So, when the City’s Cultural Arts Manager position opened up in 2016, Beckie jumped at the chance to work for the City of Roswell.
Beckie spent seven years as Cultural Arts Manager, overseeing the City’s cultural and arts programs and facilities, including the Roswell Cultural Arts Center, Art Center West, Roswell Visual Arts Center, and Roswell Performing Arts. In January 2024, Beckie was promoted to Deputy Director of Recreation, Parks, Historic, and Cultural Affairs focusing on the Cultural, Historic, and Recreation Services divisions.
“Roswell is rich in history. We have a special responsibility and opportunity to be innovative, comprehensive, and equitable in how we are interpreting and sharing our past and considering how our community moves forward.”
Beckie is excited to see what the future holds for Roswell, but one thing is for sure: she has ultimate faith in her team to help the City achieve its goals.
“The City’s Recreation, Parks, Historic, and Cultural Affairs team is exceptional, and I want the whole community to know that,” says Beckie. “We’re putting creativity and heart into everything we do. At the end of the day, we strive to foster a rich sense of community and connection through culture, heritage, and impactful programs. We want to ensure everyone who calls Roswell home has a place to engage at one of our parks and facilities—and we’re well on our way to achieving that!”
Beckie is a recent graduate of the Atlanta Regional Commission’s Culture & Community Design program. Beckie and her partner, Joey, can frequently be found enjoying activities such as paddling the Chattahoochee, playing with their dogs, cooking, tending to their flock of chickens, reading, or working in the garden. One of Beckie’s most cherished titles is being Aunt B to her incredible nephew.
