What’s Your Style?
Style is one of the most personal and powerful forms of self-expression. It speaks before words do—and tells the world who we are, what we value, and how we choose to live. In this special Style Issue, we’re honoring the many ways people define and refine their personal aesthetic—through fashion, beauty, home design, and beyond.
But style isn’t just about what’s on the outside. It’s a reflection of the inside, of personality and creativity, confidence and individuality. Whether it’s the perfect outfit that makes you feel unstoppable, the way you style your hair or makeup to highlight your favorite features, or the thoughtful details in your home that make every guest feel welcome—style is everywhere.
What’s most exciting about style is that there’s no one-size-fits-all. It evolves with us over time, shifting with seasons, moods, and moments. Some days it’s bold and daring; others it’s effortless and minimal. And that’s the beauty of it. Your style doesn’t need permission or approval. It simply needs to be yours
As you explore the stories in this issue, we hope you feel inspired to embrace your own unique style story—whatever it looks like. Take risks, experiment, play with color and texture. Mix high and low. Vintage and modern. Keep what speaks to you and let go of what doesn’t. Use your surroundings, your wardrobe, and your voice to express the most authentic version of you.
Because at the end of the day, true style doesn’t just make a statement. It tells your story.
Here’s to living boldly, beautifully, and unapologetically in style.
With Regards,

COURTESY OF HEROES FOR CHILDREN
For 21 years, Heroes for Children has provided critical support to families in Texas navigating the unimaginable—a child’s cancer diagnosis. Through their core programs—financial assistance, social assistance, and comfort and care—Heroes for Children helps bridge the gaps left by insurance, ensuring parents can focus on their child’s healing instead of mounting bills. Whether it's offering direct financial assistance for rent, utilities, groceries, travel, or even funeral costs; providing social assistance through events that bring families together; or delivering comfort and care items during hospital stays, Heroes for Children steps in when families need it most.
HEROES FOR CHILDREN – 21 YEARS OF HOPE FOR FAMILIES BATTLING CHILDHOOD CANCER
“HEROES
FOR CHILDREN HELPS BRIDGE THE GAPS LEFT BY
INSURANCE, ENSURING PARENTS CAN FOCUS ON THEIR CHILD’S HEALING INSTEAD OF MOUNTING BILLS.”
Every year, thousands of families turn to Heroes for Children in moments of crisis. The organization reviews applications on a weekly basis and distributes approved assistance every Friday. The response is timely and designed to ease financial burdens and restore stability during deeply uncertain times to ensure that families have the support they need.
The impact is best understood through the voices of the families served. One parent shared, “When our son Malik was diagnosed with leukemia earlier this year, our entire world changed overnight. We were thrown into a whirlwind of hospital stays, chemo treatments, and learning how to support our boy through the toughest battle of his life. It’s been an emotional and financial strain in ways we couldn’t have imagined, but through it all, we've been carried by the kindness of others."
“We’re so incredibly grateful to Heroes for Children for awarding our family an $800 grant. This generous gift came at a time when we truly needed it most. It’s more than just financial support—it’s a reminder that we’re not alone, that people see us, and that there’s still so much good in the world. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping ease the burden just a little so we can focus more on Malik’s healing and less on the stress. Your kindness means everything to us.”
To celebrate 21 years of service, Heroes for Children will host the Dallas Hold ’Em for Heroes Poker Tournament on September 27, 2025, at the Frontiers of Flight Museum in Dallas. The evening includes dinner, live music, and poker—all to raise funds that directly support Texas families throughout the year.

ESCAPE, Relax, AND RECHARGE In Style
Whether seeking recreation or relaxation, a luxurious retreat that blends effortless style with Texas Hill Country's natural beauty awaits at Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa, all inspired by nature and rooted in meaningful connections.
Tucked within 4,000 acres of rolling hills, nature preserves, and scenic waterways, the resort recently was named one of the Top 5 Resorts in Texas in Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards 2025. With four championship golf courses, a serene spa, inspired dining, elevated fitness amenities, and refined guest accommodations, guests are greeted with legendary Texas hospitality and voluminous ways to unwind with flair.
Christian Jones, MBA, Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa director of marketing, shares that wellness and recreation are thoughtfully woven into the resort’s design. "Guests can stay active in a 33,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art fitness center, or relax at one of four distinct pools, including a serene adults-only infinity pool and a heated indoor option perfect for year-round laps. The Mokara Spa invites guests to slow down and recharge, while the resort’s award-winning golf courses offer unforgettable play."
He adds: "Younger guests can enjoy their own adventures, too, whether splashing around in the family-friendly pool and splash pad, or joining guided nature hikes and outdoor games as part of Barton's Kid Zone programming."
Christian says although the resort's located just 20 minutes from downtown Austin, once guests arrive, "it feels like a world away." Taking cues from the surrounding natural landscape, the artwork and guest rooms or suites offer a residential ambiance with layered textures, mixed materials and eclectic furnishings.

"It’s a sophisticated retreat that feels like a home away from home. Throughout the property, we’ve created intentional spaces, like rocking chairs on the porch overlooking Lady Bird Lawn or fire pits perched above the 18th hole of the Fazio Foothills golf course, all of which invite guests to slow down, connect and take in the beauty around them," he explains.
Opening as a country club in the mid-1980s, the resort’s doors officially opened Sept. 5, 1987, with former First Lady of the United States Lady Bird Johnson attending the grand opening ceremony.
Christian says one of the on-site golf courses was designed by Austin native Ben Crenshaw and his business partner Bill Coore, another by Arnold Palmer, and two by Tom Fazio. He says the resort has hosted a variety of notable events and tournaments, including the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf (Champions Tour) Tournament, and many influential guests, including President H.W. Bush, President George W. Bush, President Barack Obama, music-great Willie Nelson, and Heisman Trophy winner Earl Campbell.
"The University of Texas legendary football coach Darrel K. Royal was a founding member of Barton Creek Country Club and frequently golfed Barton Creek’s courses; one of the resort’s ballrooms is named in his honor," Christian adds.
The resort's golf courses helped earn the resort a place among the Top 20 resorts in the world, and an additional high-ranking recognition as one of the Top U.S. Golf Resorts by Golf Digest.
The resort's various dining options include Blind Salamander Kitchen & Bar (seafood, duck, lamb, filet mignon); Bob's Steak & Chop House (award-winning prime steaks, chops, seafood); Crenshaw's Bar & Eatery (golfers' hideaway); Jim Bob's Lobby Lounge (craft cocktails and small plates); Nopales (casual dining such as chicken street tacos); Canyons Grill (Austin-inspired dishes and clubhouse fare); Texas Spice (breakfast entrees with Southern flavors); Travis Pool Bar & Grill (poolside dining) and Velvet Joe's Coffee House (barista-crafted beverages, grab-and-go pastries, sandwiches, salads).
“Our Mokara Spa is a sanctuary inspired by nearby creeks and waterways,” Christian states. “Guests, both resort and local, come to unwind in our relaxation lounge, rooftop pool, and steam room before indulging in treatments to restore and recharge. From aromatherapy and hot stone massages to HydraFacials and restorative body treatments, everything we offer is curated to create a sophisticated, deeply soothing escape.”
Christian says the Barton Creek team also hosts special events, such as weddings, open-air markets, live music, hands-on exhibits, thematic stays, and acoustic performances with songwriters.
Every season brings something new to discover at Omni Barton Creek, Christian assures. This summer’s 'Summer in the Hills' series featured open-air vendor markets at Barton Fest, live music under the stars through Barton Creek Live, and the debut of SMOKE: A Celebration of Fire & Flavor, which is a signature culinary event that brought together top barbecue talent from across Texas and Oklahoma. As the seasons shift, the resort transforms once again for Holiday in the Hills, a festive celebration where twinkling light trails, interactive snowfalls, and cozy moments set the stage for magical winter memories.
The resort's located in Austin at 8212 Barton Club Drive, whether for two or a whole crew.

TRANSFORMING SPACES INTO SOMETHING MEANINGFUL AND PERSONALIZED
YOUR HOME’S PERSONALITY
PHOTOGRAPHY
As the weather starts cooling down and families start planning for winter holidays, one important thing to take stock of is your home decor. After all, it’s easy for time to pass by, and suddenly those incredible drapes
“FIND
budget, and preferences,” reflects Julie. “What’s important is mixing styles when transforming rooms from the mundane to the marvelous, and exuding your own personality.”
If you find that your personal style
THE THEME THAT UNIQUELY REFLECTS YOUR LIFESTYLE, BUDGET, AND PREFERENCES.”
designed in the 90s are looking old but not quite vintage. For a fresh change to your home without the need to paint or renovate, consider changing your curtains and cushions.
Julie Taylor is the store manager of a local Dallas favorite for interior decorators, fashion designers, and avid DIY fans looking for a chance to bring out their inner fashionista: Cutting Corners. Through her many years of working with fabrics, Julie has seen the different trends come and go, but to ensure a timeless look to decor staples like curtains, she encourages home decorators to focus on their own personal style.
“There are many fads out there, but the most important aspect of decorating your home is to find the theme that uniquely reflects your lifestyle,
is still being developed, then fabric magician Krista Parker is ready to tell you about some trends in home decor. “Currently, many buyers are swapping grays and white for color! Incorporating printed fabrics and layering printed fabrics creates an exciting look. Other design trends I am seeing are color drenching, wallpaper, and sophisticated window treatments. Cafe curtains, cornices, and panels with tape trim are in demand,” she informs.
Julie continues, “While some people still prefer a pattern with a traditional theme, they’re kicking it up a notch with a little animal print flair within the print. Often, more adventurous decorators will choose a bold color for their furniture and curtains to create a ‘wow’ impact.”
Creating the space of your dreams starts in your imagination. Julia and Krista encourage customers to use tools such as Pinterest and Canva to bring their images to life, and offer the following tips:
• Be open to new ideas and mixing styles. A more current trend is for everything in the room to not match but coordinate and complement each other. For instance, a fun print can jazz up a more traditional frame.
• Focus on the colors and textures you love. Don’t be afraid to experiment with color combinations.
• If you have a favorite art or heirloom piece, let that be your inspiration and build from there.
• Consider your lifestyle and choose a style that reflects that. Choose fabrics that you can maintain and that you won’t tire of quickly.
• If you are new to design, it’s often a good idea to be creative with pillows, benches, and home accents, since those items can be switched out easily. For bigger or more expensive projects, such as furniture or drapery, go for timeless fabrics.
• Use pictures and samples to create a mood board (either digitally or physically).
• After you have completed research and have fruitful combinations/direction, take your progress examples to a professional for their advice.
Sometimes, it helps just to walk into a store to download some inspiration. With 5,000 square feet filled with a variety of custom furniture, homeowners and decorators can easily select what they like at Cutting Corners and then personalize it with their choice of fabric.

BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL
Something Pretty, Something Blue

Inspired by the blue waves of the ocean, by all that sparkles and shines, and all things beauty, an ambitious East Texas entrepreneur has made a name for herself amongst the bustling and busy vibes of Plano.
“Karri Graves’s core philosophy stands behind the creation of her salon, which is helping women feel beautiful.”
Karri Graves’s core philosophy stands behind the creation of her salon, which is helping women feel beautiful. Without care and compassion (and a touch of pampering), impacting her clients’ self-esteem and well-being becomes just a superficial facade.
“From the moment guests walk through our doors, they are greeted with a selection of beverages, including mimosas, wine, coffee, iced coffees, teas, and lemon water. We also bake fresh chocolate chip cookies daily, adding a personal touch to their visit and making them feel cherished. We care for our client’s hair with the utmost importance, utilizing organic products, stem cell therapy enrichments, and gluten free options for both hair and makeup. Ensuring the health of our clients and stylists is a cornerstone of our philosophy.”
With nearly 40 years of experience in the beauty industry, Karri has built a career focused on empowering individuals and promoting connections. “By fostering creativity and collaboration within my team, I've established an atmosphere that encourages innovation, enabling us to deliver extraordinary experiences and enhance the beauty community as a whole,” she reflects.
Lee Graves Salon is located directly across from The Shops at Willow Bend. Founded in 2019, it has experienced significant expansion in the past six years, growing from eight stylists to 30! With the introduction of a dedicated nail room and lash room, in addition to a bridal hair and makeup team that travels to create stunning looks for weddings and special events, Karri is able to offer an even broader range of beauty services. CONTINUED >
When it comes to personal style, Karri believes that each individual instinctively knows what resonates with them from the moment they wake up. “For example, whether we are drawn to romantic elements like ruffles and lace, dramatic aesthetics with bold clothing and hair, or sleek chic looks, our style preferences are intrinsically connected to our identities.”
In today's world, we're surrounded and bombarded by fashion inspiration, especially through social media. Filtering through the noise is integral when choosing a personal style; it helps drill down what’s important to a person, and prevents him or her from being caught up in something that doesn’t truly reflect them. Seeking this simplicity in an era of overload is key.
“At our salon, we celebrate and enhance this individuality by recognizing and complementing our clients’ unique styles through tailored hair coloring and styling, and prioritizing the integrity of their hair. Through the use of organic products and by providing advice on healthy hair habits, we help clients feel beautiful and confident in their own skin.”
Part of being comfortable in their own skin also means understanding that different people have different definitions of beauty; this ranges considerably across cultures, ethnicities, and races.
“To me, beauty is a harmonious blend of our inner spirit and emotional well-being with our outward appearance, including our hair and makeup,” she reflects. “Many women express that they feel incomplete without perfect hair or a touch of lipstick, and this sentiment is not a negative; rather, it reflects a deep connection to self-identity. The desire to enhance our outer beauty often mirrors our inner feelings, creating a powerful interplay between how we look and how we feel. Embracing this connection allows us to cultivate confidence and authenticity, celebrating the multifaceted nature of beauty.
“Bold color transformations, such as rich jewel tones and soft pastels, will also make waves, allowing individuals to express their personalities through vibrant hues.”
“As we look ahead to 2025, one of the standout trends I see emerging is the French bob, characterized by its soft, blunt cut that exudes effortless elegance. This style blends sophistication with a touch of playfulness, making it versatile for various face shapes and hair types. Additionally, we can expect to see a resurgence of natural textures, with an emphasis on embracing wavy and curly styles that celebrate authenticity. Long layers and curtain bangs will continue to be popular, providing movement and dimension without compromising on length,” adds Karri.
Bold color transformations, such as rich jewel tones and soft pastels, will also make waves, allowing individuals to express their personalities through vibrant hues. Lastly, personalization is key. Trends will increasingly
focus on tailored styles that reflect individual identities, making sure that everyone can find a look that resonates with them.
But beneath these fashion trends is something else, Karri observes. “The hottest demand among our clients is for healthy hair, with a strong focus on maintaining its integrity throughout the transformation process. Antiaging hair products enriched with collagen, designed to nourish and revitalize are popular, as are volumizing products crafted from natural ingredients like quinoa and protein that enhance the hair's fullness without compromising its quality.”

JUNETEENTH RUNWAY HONORS LEGACY AND STYLE AT LEGACY WEST
Under the Texas twilight, fashion, freedom, and Black joy took center stage at Legacy West. The 2025 Juneteenth Fashion Show, held in the Lexus Box Garden and produced by Leah Frazier and Think Three Media, honored 160 years since emancipation with the powerful theme: We Are One. The event united the community in a vibrant celebration of Black excellence, culture, and creativity.
Hosted by beloved media personalities Lady Jade and Mike Shawn, the evening included live music from RC & The Gritz, a runway dance-off led by Coach O, a moving performance by Clover the Violinist, and a lyrical ballet by Lillian Wamsley. Miss Texas 2024, Annette Addo-Yobo, was also in attendance to congratulate organizers and show her support.
A diverse crowd gathered to honor the legacy and contributions of Black Americans through the visual language of fashion and the performing arts. Professional designers showcased collections alongside student designers from Cedar Hill High School, blending generations of creativity and bold expression.
From nostalgic HBCU-inspired looks to modern streetwear, sleek resort wear, and show-stopping couture, the runway affirmed North Texas as an emerging hub for Black fashion. Headliner Vinny Etienne of LeVenity—whose designs have graced icons like Beyoncé and Cardi B—anchored the show with a powerful final collection. Many designers drew inspiration from this year’s Met Gala theme, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, while others paid homage to Dallas’s own Erykah Badu.
Juneteenth’s symbolic white attire was also honored, tracing back to Sally Tate, a formerly enslaved woman who wore white to represent hope, freedom, and new beginnings. Proceeds benefitted the National Juneteenth Museum, tying the evening’s celebration to historical legacy. The evening reminded us, “Until we are all free, none of us are free.”
“We’re not just here to watch clothes go down a runway,” said Lady Jade. “We’re here to tell our story. To honor freedom.” Share them. Wear them. And mark your calendar now for 2026.
The full list of designers, vendors, and performers can be found on Legacy West’s Instagram: instagram.com/reel/DLI_Xu5yeyg.
STONES WITH SOUL
KRISTIN HIETT’S ONE-OF-A-KIND JEWELRY PIECES ARE ART TO WEAR
ARTICLE BY TIFFANY DITTO | PHOTOGRAPHY BY ARANZA PERKOVICH: JAMILETH PHOTOGRAPHY
Kristin Hiett was never without a creative outlet. She painted. She wrote poetry. She played guitar. And for decades, while building a career in the corporate world, she quietly made jewelry.
After retiring, she faced the question, “What now?” Today, Hiett is the artist behind B Stoned Jewelry, a line of handmade pieces crafted from natural stones, crystals, and metals.
“You’re not buying this from a market where ten of the same thing are sold to every store,” Hiett says. “You’re getting something that’s handcrafted and designed. When someone buys a piece and loves it, it feels like a piece of my soul is out there in the world.”
Each piece of jewelry is one-of-a-kind, an approach that, Hiett admits, isn’t always ideal for business. She’s lost sales because she won’t recreate designs. But to her, that’s the point.
CONTINUED >
“I’m not doing mass production, I’m creating art,” Hiett says.
When making a piece, she doesn’t draw out her designs. Instead, she works by feel, sifting through trays of natural gemstones and feeling their energy.
“Each piece has to feel right,” Hiett says. “There’s energy in these stones. I know when something belongs.”
“I just sit down and start,” she adds. “I might be working on three or four designs at once, jumping between them. It’s chaotic, but it works.”
The style of her jewelry matches her personal style and is part bohemian, part rockand-roll—featuring opals, moonstone, pyrite, and even meteorite, materials she says carry energy and, sometimes, emotional weight. Stones are everywhere in her home: in her kitchen, her office, and even her bathroom.
“When I find one that has a pull, I know I’m meant to have it,” she says.
Running a small business solo has its challenges. Hiett does everything herself, from designing and photographing pieces to updating her website and fulfilling orders. She sells her art through her website and several Dallas-area boutiques, splitting profits with store owners to gain shelf space and exposure.
Her jewelry ranges in price depending on the stones and metal used, but has an average price tag of $65 to $350. Though for Hiett, it’s not about the money.
“It’s not about getting rich,” Hiett says. “I want to create and share something meaningful. My passion is that every woman, and every guy, feels beautiful and loved at one point or another.”
Currently, shoppers can find B Stoned Jewelry at boutiques around Plano and Frisco, including The Style Concierge, Skypony Gallery, Unique World, Stones for Daze, Estilo Concept Store, or online at BStonedNow.com.
