Hello, friends!
I'm Bentley, and this month I managed to convince my human to let me take over the publisher's letter. I figured since this is our Kids & Pets issue, it was only fair that a four-legged member of the team got to do the talking.
As the office's Chief Barketing Officer, neighborhood walk expert, professional greeter, and enthusiastic treat tester, I spend a lot of time exploring our community. One thing I've learned is that what makes this place so special isn't just the parks, trails, or pet-friendly patios; it's the people and businesses who make everyone feel welcome, whether they have two legs or four.
This month, we're excited to introduce you to one of our favorite local pet stores, where you'll find everything from treats and toys to knowledgeable people who genuinely care about your furry family members. Walk through the doors of Peoria's Pet Market, and it quickly becomes clear that this isn't your typical pet store. While the shelves are stocked with premium foods, treats, and supplies, the real focus is education. Every conversation begins with one simple question: How can we help your pet thrive?
“Knowing we can make a difference in their pets' lives is what makes this so special.”
That mission has been at the heart of the business since day one. For owner Chris Stewart, opening Peoria's Pet Market wasn't simply about selling pet food; it was about changing the way people think about pet nutrition.
Chris wanted to create a place where education came first after seeing how many large manufacturers seemed more focused on profits than quality. As he puts it, "We wanted to educate consumers on better food for their pets because quality nutrition truly changes lives." That philosophy continues to shape every interaction inside the store.
Unlike a traditional pet retailer, Peoria's Pet Market focuses on finding solutions rather than simply recommending products. Chris and his business partner, Ty, are both certified pet nutritionists who take a natural, holistic approach to pet health, believing

"We have a much more natural and holistic approach," Chris explains. "We want to fix the problems rather than putting bandages on them."

In countless cases, switching to a more appropriate food has dramatically improved a pet's quality of life.

"What goes into your pet's bowl every day has a bigger impact than most people realize," he says, encouraging customers to look beyond marketing claims and pay attention to ingredients.

Under the leadership of Sumit Arora, Owner of KidsUnited Glendale, the program uses soccer as a foundation for helping children develop confidence, resilience, teamwork, and emotional growth during some of the most important years of childhood.
Arora believes "children need more places where they can grow, not just perform," and that philosophy shapes every class. Rather than focusing on competition or winning, KidsUnited creates an environment where children are encouraged to grow at their own pace. Through age-appropriate games and structured movement, young athletes develop coordination, balance, listening skills, discipline, and the confidence to try something new.

ON MARRIAGE, KIDS, AND THE COMEDY OF REAL LIFE
Trey Kennedy makes a living finding comedy in regular life. Marriage. Toddlers. Yoga pants. The Thursday-night scramble between school dropoffs, soccer practice, and whatever has to be done by morning. Twelve years in, it shows: millions of followers across every platform, three stand-up specials, a sold-out Relatable Tour, and a style of humor fans send each other captioned, “Are you watching me?” He delivers the kind of comedy that travels because everyone’s living some version of it.
Katie, his wife of six years, is a former biomedical engineer who also built a modeling career. She’s now raising their kids and co-hosting Correct Opinions alongside Trey — the show where the two of them swap takes on marriage, parenting, and whatever came up that week.
Trey has been at this longer than people realize. An Edmond, Oklahoma kid who grew up playing basketball described himself as a “shy kid who never thought he’d be an entertainer.” He started making videos while attending Oklahoma State University. After building millions of followers on Vine before the platform shut down, he gave himself six months on Instagram and Facebook to see whether he could rebuild from zero. He did. Stand-up soon followed. His first special, Are You For Real?, streams on YouTube; the second, Grow Up, on Amazon Prime; the third, built around the Relatable Tour, wrapped earlier this year. “I’ve been trying to be funny every week for like twelve years now,” he says. A slow climb, made one bit at a time.

Most of what Trey writes lately starts in his own kitchen. Thomas is three and a half, and he is, in his father’s words, “a movie.” He narrates his own life from the moment his eyes open and mispronounces words in ways his parents now repeat to each other because no one else would believe them. His younger sister, Eva, is what Katie calls “the calm one.” With a third now in the mix, the Kennedys are officially outnumbered.
After six years of marriage, Trey and Katie have learned that the partnership runs best when it gets its own time on the calendar. So once a week, they leave the kids with a sitter and go out for coffee. “You need a system,” Katie says. “It’s about taking time to look each other in the eye. Not the kids. Not the cameras. Just each other.”
The same instinct shapes the work. Most of Trey’s trial and error happens onstage or on Instagram, but the first read is always Katie’s. “There’s only been one time ever I’ve had to be like, ‘you’re not doing that,’” she says. The rest of the time, she just laughs first.

Directions:
1. Wash the strawberries and raspberries thoroughly. Blend them together with one cup of Greek yogurt until smooth. If the mixture is too thick, add a tablespoon of water. Set aside.
2. In a separate bowl, combine the remaining Greek yogurt with the peanut butter and pumpkin puree. Stir until completely smooth and creamy.
3. Place your silicone molds on a baking sheet or cutting board so they're easy to move into the freezer. Paw print and dog bone molds work perfectly for this recipe and create an adorable finished treat.
4. Spoon the berry mixture into some of the molds and the peanut butter mixture into the others. For a marbled effect, add a spoonful of each mixture to every mold and gently swirl with a toothpick.

6. Freeze for at least 4 to 6 hours, or overnight until completely firm.
