Exploring Near and Far
Summer in Pascack Valley always brings a sense of adventure. Whether it’s a weekend getaway, discovering a new local business, or simply spending more time with family and friends, July is the perfect time to slow down and explore everything around us. This month’s Explore issue is filled with destinations, experiences, and people designed to inspire your next adventure both near and far.
We begin with two incredible travel features: The Reeds at Shelter Haven in Stone Harbor New Jersey and Wind Creek Bethlehem in Pennsylvania. While each destination offers something completely different, both provide the perfect summer escape. From coastal relaxation to entertainment and nightlife, these trips remind us that you don’t have to travel far to create memorable experiences.
Closer to home, we feature Dr. Jessica McCarthy, whose passion and dedication continue to make a positive impact in our community. We also recap our recent Connection in Bloom Networking Event. Seeing local business owners, professionals, and friends come together to support one another is exactly what Pascack Valley City Lifestyle is all about.
This issue also highlights Love LV Travel, a business dedicated to helping people experience the world through thoughtfully planned travel and unforgettable itineraries. Their story serves as a reminder that some of life’s best investments are the memories we create through exploration and shared experiences.
As always, thank you for supporting the local businesses and people who make the Pascack Valley such a vibrant and connected community. I hope this issue inspires you to explore somewhere new, spend time with loved ones, and enjoy all the beauty summer has to offer.
Wishing you and your family a fun, relaxing, and memorable summer!

CONNECTION IN BLOOM
AN ELEVATED SPRING NETWORKING EXPERIENCE
BRINGING TOGETHER THE PASCACK VALLEY BUSINESS COMMUNITY
ARTICLE BY LUCILLE RIZZO | PHOTOGRAPHY BY FOUR WEB MEDIA
There is something powerful about the Pascack Valley business community when it comes together with intention. Connection in Bloom was created to celebrate exactly that. Hosted by Pascack Valley City Lifestyle , the spring networking event welcomed entrepreneurs, creatives, and local business owners for an evening dedicated to connection, collaboration, and showcasing the talent that continues to grow across the region.
The event was held at Work'd Up in Old Tappan, a vibrant co-working space designed for creativity and collaboration, where the environment was transformed into a warm, elevated setting that encouraged conversation and community. Throughout the evening, thoughtful details and local collaborations brought the experience to life.
Guests were greeted with custom event signage by Cxb Designs, setting a polished and cohesive tone from the start. The atmosphere was kept lively throughout the evening with music from Mr 845 Entertainment, creating a seamless flow between networking, conversation, and celebration. The Mane Event Mobile Bar created a standout photo moment and added a beautiful spring touch to the atmosphere, with their flower wall.
A standout element of the evening was the thoughtful integration of local food and beverage experiences. The Mane Event Mobile Bar served handcrafted cocktails that quickly became a centerpiece of the room, bringing guests together in conversation throughout the night. Food from B&M Market added another local touch to the evening, highlighting one of the many beloved businesses that make the Pascack Valley community so special.

Love LV Travel’s full-service approach that makes every journey feel effortless
ARTICLE BY JULIAN CREST | PHOTOGRAPHY BY JARED WEXLER
A beautiful sunset view over a lush Tuscan vineyard
For some people, travel begins with a search bar. For Jared Wexler, it starts with a conversation.
The founder of Love LV Travel did not set out to build a business in the traditional sense. He simply followed a long-standing passion. For nearly a decade, Wexler had been the person friends and family turned to when planning their next getaway. He was the one fielding questions, offering recommendations and, more often than not, mapping out entire itineraries just for the joy of it.
“I’ve always been the guy everyone asks, ‘What’s your next trip?’” Wexler said.
That passion turned into something more after a group trip where he naturally stepped in to organize activities and logistics. It was his wife who recognized the opportunity and encouraged him to turn his skill into a business. In 2022, Love LV Travel was born.
At its core, the company is built on a simple idea that has become increasingly rare in a digital-first world. Travel is personal, and planning it should be too.
Wexler approaches every client relationship with the understanding that no two travelers are the same. For him, travel is not defined by a single destination or style. It is about experiencing something new, something that cannot be replicated at home. That might mean a quiet European village, a luxury cruise in the middle of the ocean or a stretch of pristine beach with nothing but sun and sand.
That philosophy shapes every itinerary he creates.
“The beauty of travel is that it means something different to everyone,” he said.
It is also why Love LV Travel avoids prepackaged trips. Instead, Wexler begins each client experience the same way. He listens. Then he asks questions. Then he listens again.
The process is intentionally thorough. From the moment a client leaves their front door to the moment they return home, every detail is considered. Flights, transfers, accommodations, dining reservations and curated experiences are all carefully aligned to fit the traveler’s preferences.
The goal is simple. Clients should not feel like they are managing a trip. They should feel like they are on one.
“The biggest benefit is that all you have to do is pack,” Wexler said. “Traveling shouldn’t be work.”
Colosseum Rome, Italy
Colorful town Positano, Italy
That level of attention has become a defining feature of the business, especially as more travelers begin to feel overwhelmed by the endless options available online. While booking platforms and artificial intelligence tools promise convenience, Wexler believes they often fall short where it matters most.
When something goes wrong, there is no substitute for human connection.
“Sure, you might find a lower price online,” he said. “But who is there to help when your room floods on your honeymoon?”
It is in those moments that Love LV Travel’s network and relationships make a difference. Wexler works closely with partners around the world, often securing added amenities or upgrades for clients before they even arrive. And if an issue arises, he is already in contact with the right people to resolve it quickly.
That behind-the-scenes effort allows travelers to stay focused on what matters, the experience itself.
Wexler’s own travels continue to inspire the journeys he plans for others. Southern Europe remains a favorite, particularly Italy and Spain. He has visited Spain four times and Italy three, and he does not expect that pattern to change anytime soon.
“The language, the food, the sun, the culture, the history,” he said. “And the food.”

“The beauty of travel is that it means something different to everyone.”
- Jared Wexler
One of his most memorable experiences took place just outside Barcelona. After sailing to a hillside winery, he found himself seated under a pergola, sipping cava and learning to prepare pa amb tomàquet, a traditional Catalonian tomato bread. On one side stretched views of the Mediterranean. On the other, a quiet village that looked as though it belonged in a painting.
“It didn’t seem real,” he said.
Those are the kinds of moments he hopes to create for his clients. Not just trips, but memories that feel almost cinematic in their beauty.
As for what is trending, some destinations never lose their appeal. Italy continues to top the list for summer travel, drawing visitors with its blend of culture, cuisine and timeless charm. The allure of La Dolce Vita remains as strong as ever.
Still, Wexler encourages travelers to think beyond the obvious. Some of his own bucket list goals include cruising through the Panama Canal, exploring Hawaii beyond the typical tourist paths and spending more time in Europe’s lesser-known villages.
Even his upcoming travels reflect that sense of curiosity. A Mediterranean cruise featuring Monte Carlo as its main draw is next on his itinerary, where he is looking forward to soaking in the glamour of the iconic destination with a martini in hand.
Ultimately, what sets Love LV Travel apart is not just the destinations it offers, but the way it approaches the journey. In a time when automation is everywhere, Wexler is doubling down on something more human. Relationships.
“We are constantly building connections around the globe and with our clients,” he said. “Then we bring those together for the best possible experience.”
For travelers who crave more than just a reservation confirmation, that approach can make all the difference. Because the most meaningful trips are not just about where you go. They are about how you feel while you are there. And with the right guidance, that feeling can start long before takeoff.

BEYOND Schedules
HOW ELEMENTS IS REDEFINING MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT FOR MODERN FAMILIES
ARTICLE BY ELEMENTS PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES
PHOTOGRAPHY BY CLARA WANG PHOTOGRAPHY
As families transition into the back-to-school season, the focus often falls on logistics, including new schedules, academic demands, extracurricular activities and the return to structured routines. Calendars fill quickly, and expectations rise just as fast. But beneath all of this preparation lies a critical, often overlooked foundation: emotional and mental well-being. Without it, even the most carefully planned routines can become unsustainable.
At Elements, this perspective is central to how care is approached. Emotional health isn’t viewed as secondary to performance. It is what makes performance possible in the first place. Clinicians at Elements see firsthand how quickly stress, anxiety and dysregulation can emerge when the emotional foundation isn’t supported, particularly during periods of transition like the start of the school year. For Dr. McCarthy, this understanding is both professional and deeply personal. As a neuropsychologist and a single mother of two, she brings a dual lens to the conversation, one grounded in clinical expertise and one shaped by the realities of parenting.
Today’s families are navigating an increasingly complex landscape. Children face heightened academic pressures, while parents are balancing demanding work schedules with the desire to be present and engaged at home. Overscheduling has become the norm, and with it comes a rise in concerns like anxiety, ADHD and a pervasive sense of overwhelm. At the same time, the nature of childhood and adolescence is evolving. Digital communication has shifted how children connect, often limiting opportunities to develop essential social and communication skills. Educators are reporting noticeable changes in classroom engagement, with many students struggling to participate, express themselves or navigate peer interactions in meaningful ways.
Elements has developed particular expertise in supporting neurodivergent families, including those navigating ADHD and autism. These families often experience the pressures of the school year more intensely, as traditional expectations around attention, behavior, communication and executive functioning may not align with how their children naturally operate. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all model, Elements emphasizes individualized, strengths-based care that supports each child’s unique profile while also guiding parents in creating more sustainable systems at home. This approach not only addresses challenges but also helps families better understand and advocate for their children in academic and social environments.
Despite these challenges, many families still take a reactive approach to mental health, waiting until concerns escalate before seeking support. At Elements, there is a strong emphasis on shifting this mindset. Proactive care allows children and families to build resilience, develop effective coping strategies and create a more stable emotional baseline before stressors intensify. When support is introduced early, it not only addresses immediate concerns but also changes the trajectory of a child’s academic and social experience.
Our nation is in the middle of a mental health crisis affecting children and adolescents, and that crisis does not stop simply because the school year ends. Elements is working to meet that
growing need by expanding year-round care and support focused on children, teens and young adults, while also increasing access to a level of clinical services many families might not otherwise be able to obtain.
A key part of this approach is helping families understand what to look for in quality mental health care. Effective support goes beyond surface-level strategies; it requires highly trained specialists who can integrate evidence-based clinical knowledge with a nuanced understanding of family dynamics and real-world challenges. At Elements, this means delivering individualized care that reflects both scientific rigor and practical relevance, meeting families where they are while guiding them toward meaningful, sustainable change.
At the same time, Elements recognizes a broader challenge within the mental health landscape: how to make high-quality care more accessible without compromising standards. Rather than lowering the bar, the organization is focused on expanding capacity in thoughtful, intentional ways. This includes investing in training, supervision and innovative care models that allow more families to access expert support while maintaining the integrity of the clinical experience.
This commitment to growth is reflected in several recent developments. Elements is proud to welcome Kate DeSantis, whose
clinical work focuses on supporting individuals navigating anxiety, trauma, grief and chronic health concerns. Her approach aligns closely with Elements’ emphasis on whole-person care, recognizing the complex interplay between emotional well-being and physical health. In addition to her clinical expertise, Kate is joined by Penny, her certified therapy dog, who is integrated into sessions as part of Elements’ expanding pet therapy services. The inclusion of animal-assisted therapy offers another avenue for connection and regulation, particularly for children and individuals who may find traditional talk-based approaches more challenging.
In parallel, the launch of the Advanced Doctoral Externship Program marks an important step forward in addressing the growing demand for mental health services. Designed to train the next generation of clinicians, the program provides intensive, hands-on experience under the close supervision of licensed psychologists at Elements. As part of this initiative, the program will offer both neuropsychological evaluations and psychotherapy services for children and adults at a reduced rate, increasing access to high-quality care for families who might otherwise face financial barriers. By prioritizing mentorship, rigor and accessibility, Elements is expanding its impact without compromising the standard of care.
Looking ahead, this model reflects a broader shift in how mental health care is delivered, one that is more proactive, more integrated into everyday life
Elements is positioned at the forefront of this movement, combining clinical expertise, lived experience and innovative thinking to redefine what effective support can look like.
and more responsive to the evolving needs of modern families. Elements is positioned at the forefront of this movement, combining clinical expertise, lived experience and innovative thinking to redefine what effective support can look like.
As the school year begins, the message is clear: True readiness goes beyond organized schedules and academic preparation. It starts with emotional well-being. When that foundation is prioritized, everything else, from learning to relationships, has the opportunity to thrive.

A WEEKEND ESCAPE WORTH THE DRIVE: DISCOVER WIND CREEK BETHLEHEM
AN UPSCALE LEHIGH VALLEY RETREAT WITH SPA, SHOPPING, DINING, AND ENTERTAINMENT JUST A SHORT DRIVE AWAY
For Pascack Valley residents looking to escape without the hassle of flights or long travel days, Wind Creek Bethlehem offers a compelling answer: a fullscale resort experience about 90 minutes away. Set against the backdrop of the historic Bethlehem Steel site, this destination blends industrial heritage with modern luxury, making it an ideal choice for a spontaneous weekend retreat.
ARTICLE BY LUCILLE RIZZO PHOTOGRAPHY BY WIND CREEK BETHLEHEM
Since opening in 2009, Wind Creek Bethlehem has evolved into far more than a gaming destination. While the property includes a large entertainment floor, the experience today is equally defined by its hotel, dining,
shopping and wellness offerings, appealing to couples, friend groups and families seeking a well-rounded getaway.
At the center of the property is its AAA Four-Diamond hotel, which expanded with the debut of its North Tower in 2023. With more than 550 guest rooms and suites, accommodations are modern and spacious, featuring upscale finishes, plush bedding and thoughtful amenities.
One of the standout features is the Spa at Wind Creek. Spanning 14,000 square feet, it offers a full-service escape with infrared saunas, aromatherapy steam rooms, relaxation pools and a wide range of treatments designed for total relaxation. It’s a space built for slowing down and resetting.
Dining is another highlight, with options that range from refined to casual. Guests can enjoy an elevated steakhouse experience at Chop House, globally inspired dishes at Urban Table, delicious Reuben sandwiches and other American classics at Steelworks Buffet and Grill or Asian-inspired cuisine at Chopstick Asian Cuisine. For something more relaxed, The Market Gourmet Express and Starbucks are available to offer quick bites, coffee and casual favorites.
The property also delivers unexpected entertainment beyond traditional resort offerings. The 10% Target Mindset
Jen Cohen ON THE PRACTICE OF ASKING FOR WHAT YOU WANT
Winnipeg in the winter, and a 17-year-old waits 45 minutes in the cold for Keanu Reeves. Her fingers are numb. She is not there for an autograph. She is there to ask him to appear in her audition tape for MuchMusic, Canada’s MTV. When he finally agrees, she writes her number on a gum wrapper with a borrowed lip liner.
He calls days later.
That 17-year-old was Jen Cohen — fitness expert, host of the Habits & Hustle podcast, and best-selling author. She has built a career on the premise her frostbitten afternoon proved. She calls the practice the 10% Target: 10 attempts at whatever you want most in life.
The premise is simple. Most people never make one attempt. Almost nobody makes two. The math works in favor of the person who keeps going.
The top-rated Habits & Hustle podcast has logged hundreds of conversations with high performers and the people who study what the body does to the mind. Her TEDx talk, The Secret to Getting Anything You Want in Life, has traveled widely inside Fortune 500 sales-training rooms. On the Share the Lifestyle podcast, Cohen sits down to share the working rules that are the foundation of her latest book, Bigger, Better, Bolder.
“You have to be the CEO of your own life.”

MAKE TEN ATTEMPTS
The door opens, or another door does. The unmade attempt and the refused one leave you in the same place — except one of them teaches you something.
STACK THE DECK
Cohen frames her habits as a wager: How do I stack the deck so I win more than I lose? The workout happens first, and the food decisions follow. The email follow-up gets sent, and the answer arrives. The choices compound in a single direction.
3
DISCIPLINE IS A PRACTICED SKILL, NOT AN INHERITANCE
No one is born with it. The people who look disciplined are running a routine they have rehearsed long enough that it no longer feels like effort. The reps are the skill. Miss them, and the skill fades, the same as any other.
4
SELF-TALK ONLY WORKS WHEN THE BODY BACKS IT UP
Confidence does not arrive by repeating the word. It arrives after the body has done the thing — the workout finished, the cold walk endured, the email sent. The mind takes its cues from what the body proves it can do. Talk follows action, not the other way around.
5
NEVER MISS A MONDAY
The first decision sets the slope of the rest. Skip the Monday workout, and the rest of the week tends to follow. Hold the line on Monday, and the slope tilts the other way.
