Nestled on the edge of the Parkland, Wideman Pools stands as a testament to quality craftsmanship and family tradition in the swimming pool industry. Established in 1980, this third-generation, family-owned business has been transforming backyards into private paradises for over four decades.
The Wideman family's journey into the pool business began in the 1950s when Clay Wideman, founder of Wideman Construction Company, changed the direction of his successful residential construction company after installing his first concrete pool in the area. In 1980, a personal request from a local banker for a fiberglass pool installation steered the company towards who they have become today, the area leader specializing exclusively in fiberglass pools. By the mid-1980s, Wideman Pools was installing 50 fiberglass pools annually, solidifying its reputation as the go-to leader in the industry.
Today, the business is owned and operated by Rodney Wideman and his wife, Krystle, who have been married for 19 years. Together, they have three children who also enjoy contributing to the family business.
Wideman Pools has built its reputation for the superior quality and durability on the pools they install. These pools are designed
and constructed to last a lifetime. All models feature a smooth, non-porous surface that is resistant to cracking and algae growth. The gel coat technology used on each pool requires fewer chemicals and less maintenance compared to Gunite “concrete” or vinyllined pools. These advances in the industry ensure that maintenance is easy for homeowners. Unlike concrete pools, which can take months to construct, fiberglass pools come pre-molded and can be installed in just a matter of weeks. Wideman Pools proudly owns all their equipment and self-performs the installation; this provides homeowners a sense of ease when choosing this investment for their family. As you drive down Highway 67, you can see the models that they have stocked in-house. Clients can choose from 20 - 40 different models depending on their preference and vision. Having a company with this longstanding legacy in our area helps to ensure faster turnaround times than their competitors. Adding a swimming pool is not only a lifestyle enhancement but also a smart investment into your home. A well-designed pool can significantly increase property value, and improve curb appeal. Wideman understands that most home improvements require financial planning and offers financing options through HFS Financial in the form of a home improvement loan, making it easier

for homeowners to achieve their backyard dreams. Their comprehensive website breaks down the scope, models, and pricing, making the entire process feel seamless.
As advancements in technology occur, Wideman ensures their company is at the forefront. They utilize cutting-edge UV filtration systems to ensure cleaner and healthier pool water. UV light effectively neutralizes bacteria, viruses, and algae, without the need for excessive chemical use. Unlike traditional chlorine-based or salt systems, UV filtration significantly reduces the need for harsh chemicals, making pools safer for swimmers and the environment. Swimmers enjoy a more pleasant
experience without the red eyes, skin irritation, or strong chlorine odors associated with traditional pool sanitation methods. Additionally, UV filtration reduces the chemical runoff into the environment, promoting sustainability and cleaner water. With less reliance on chemicals, pool owners experience long-term savings on operation and maintenance costs.
By specializing in fiberglass pools and advanced UV filtration, Wideman ensures that clients receive a high-quality, long-lasting investment that enhances both the beauty and functionality of their outdoor spaces.
Wideman Pools’ dedication to excellence is evidenced by their numerous
accolades and recognitions. The company boasts an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau (BBB), reflecting its unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction and ethical business practices. Over the years, they have received multiple awards, including the Aqua Design Award from Aqua Magazine in 1998 and 1999, and the prestigious 2004 Lifetime Achievement Award from San Juan Pools.
The Wideman family believes in the importance of giving back to the community whenever possible. Most recently, they played a significant role in helping build a baptismal pool for a local church, collaborating with other contractors who
generously donated their time and labor to the cause. This special project has had a profound impact on the community. Since its completion, over 250 youth have been baptized in the pool. Rodney and his team take great pride in contributing to meaningful projects that bring people together and enrich the lives of those around them.
As Wideman Pools continues to evolve, their commitment to quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction remains steadfast. With a rich history and a track record of success, they are poised to continue making waves in the pool industry for generations to come, ensuring every family makes the right investment for their home.

Classic Staple Pieces to Build Your Spring Wardrobe
ARTICLE BY AMY TINNIN
Building a capsule wardrobe for spring is all about choosing versatile, timeless garments. This starts by investing in a few essential, key pieces that act as the foundation for countless outfits. Here are my top picks for creating a classic look.
Basic White, Black and Stripe T-shirt
A quality fitted T-shirt is the perfect base layer to build on. It pairs effortlessly with almost anything like jeans, blazers, skirts, or even under a dress. I like to have both long-sleeve and short-sleeve options.
Well-fitted Jeans
A good pair of jeans is a staple to any wardrobe. Invest in a pair that fits well and flatters your body shape. Dark wash jeans tend to be the most versatile, as they can be styled both casually and formally. Whether you choose skinny, straight-leg, or wide-leg styles, denim is a musthave addition to your closet.
Classic White Button-Down Shirt
A classic white button-down shirt is a must-have for your spring wardrobe. It can be dressed up or down for a casual or chic look.
Blazer
A blazer is a piece that offers both function and fashion. It provides just the right amount of style and
sophistication for an effortlessly chic touch to any outfit. Adding a blazer is an easy way to elevate any look. Black, tan and navy offer the most options for creating an array of different looks. Whether you dress it up or down, you can't go wrong.
Midi Skirt
Midi skirts come in various styles, fabrics, and silhouettes, making them an excellent choice for spring. Styling with a light sweater, cardigan, or even a T-shirt can help to create the perfect outfit.
Comfortable and Stylish Footwear
No look is complete without the perfect pair of shoes. Choose classic, adaptable pieces that complement different outfits and suit various occasions. Ballet flats, loafers, stylish heels, sandals, and classic white sneakers elevate your look with elegance while keeping comfort in mind.
Accessories
Accessories are the secret ingredient to any outfit, taking it from simple and basic, to polished and poised. Finish off any look by adding in jewelry, a belt, or a handbag.
These essentials create a solid foundation for any spring wardrobe, allowing you to mix and match effortlessly while staying stylish and comfortable.

Farmington Welcomes Coach Eckley
ARTICLE BY KAYLE NEPHEW
Change is in the air for the Farmington R-7 Knights football team as they officially welcome their new head coach, Brent Eckley. With a fresh vision, and a passion for developing young athletes, Coach Eckley is ready to lead the team into an exciting new season. With more than 25 years of experience leading high school programs across Missouri and Northwest Arkansas, Coach Eckley brings a
wealth of knowledge, leadership, and a winning track record to Farmington, who most recently went 5-5 in 2024.
Eckley’s coaching career began in 1995 at Hickman Mills High School in Kansas City, and he has since built an impressive resumé. Over the years, he has amassed a remarkable 207-77 record, earning multiple district and conference Coach of the Year honors. His time at Jackson High School was particularly notable, as he led the team to five state quarterfinal appearances, a state runner-up finish in 2019, and a state championship victory in 2020. That championship-winning team was ranked as the top program in Missouri across all classifications. In recognition of his contributions to Missouri high school football, Eckley was inducted into the Missouri Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2022.
Originally from Iowa, Eckley earned a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from William Penn University and later obtained a Master’s in Educational Administration. He also holds certifications in strength and conditioning, as well as K-12 physical education. He and his wife, Sherene, who is a retired teacher, have been married for 33 years and share 5 children, and 7 grandchildren.
Coach Eckley is eager to lead the Knights and is excited about both the program and becoming a part of the Farmington community. "After competing against Farmington for several years, I have great respect for this program," he shared. "The players are tough, disciplined, and dedicated. Our goal is to build on the strong foundation already in place." He also expressed his enthusiasm for joining a district where academics and athletics are highly valued. "I’m most excited to be part of a community where student success and extracurricular programs are a priority."
Part of what drew Eckley to Farmington was the rich tradition of generational sports, where parents, grandparents, and even great-grandparents have worn the Knights' uniform. He understands the deep-rooted passion for football in the community and hopes to gain support not just from his athletes’ parents, but also from his fellow coaches, school staff, and the entire fan base. He believes that a strong community connection will be key to the team’s success, both on and off the field.
Coach Eckley is not only focused on developing strong football players but also on shaping well-rounded student-athletes as a whole. He emphasizes the importance of academic success and says he will work closely with his athletes to ensure they receive the support they need to excel, whether through study halls, mentorship, or accountability measures to keep them on track.
Beyond academics, Eckley has high expectations for his players when it comes to work ethic. His ideal athlete is someone who shows up early to practice, is fully prepared, and is eager to learn. He believes that success comes from discipline and a willingness to put in the work. "I want players who are coachable, who take ownership of their preparation, and who are willing to push themselves every single day," he explained. "Football is more than just a game—it’s about developing character, responsibility, and the ability to overcome challenges."
Coach Eckley is eager to invest in the youth of the Farmington community, recognizing that the future of the program starts with developing young athletes both on and off the field. By engaging with youth programs and providing mentorship, he hopes to inspire the next generation of Knights and create a culture of growth and success that extends far beyond the game. Eckley is eager to engage with the community, building relationships that strengthen the foundation of Farmington athletics.
With his wealth of experience and dedication to both athletic and academic excellence, Coach Eckley is positioned to make a lasting impact on the Farmington Knights football program. As he steps into this new role, he brings a vision of hard work, discipline, and community involvement. Farmington football has a proud history, and under Eckley’s leadership, the Knights are ready to build on the values of both tradition and progress.
FAMILY TIME is the Best Investment
EAT DINNER TOGETHER AS A FAMILY.
This meaningful time around the table is where connections happen. Let everyone share good moments from the day or something they struggled with. Create a jar of conversation starters, exchange giggles and cook up something delicious.
CREATE SURPRISES
Everyone likes to feel special – and surprised. The littlest things make the biggest impact: A backyard picnic; a sleepover in an indoor fort; an after-school ice cream treat; a bathroom spa day.
CREATE FAMILY TRADITIONS
Build weekly or monthly traditions – movie nights with popcorn, board game marathons, a gratitude jar, evening bike rides, living room dance parties,
even a family book club to discover old favorites and new reads.
EXPRESS LOVE AND GRATITUDE
In busy seasons, it’s easy to forget to let a loved one feel appreciated and thought of. Tuck a hand-written note in a lunch box or give an unexpected hug; spend time sharing what you’re thankful for about them.
KEEP GENERATIONS LINKED
Consider Sunday meals with grandparents or weekly phone calls if distance separates. Invite them to share their childhood stories and treasured memories. Start a yearly family scrapbook filled with favorite photographs and vacation souvenirs.

Krekeler Jewelers: Investing in Timeless Elegance and Lasting Value
ARTICLE BY KAYLE NEPHEW
PHOTOGRAPHY BY ASHLEY TURNER
Located in the heart of downtown Farmington, Krekeler Jewelers is more than just a jewelry store, it is a generational investment in craftsmanship, quality, and trust. Since its founding in 1938 by A.L. Krekeler, this family-owned business has grown into a cherished institution, offering customers not
“At Krekeler’s, every customer becomes a cherished part of our journey—we don’t just sell jewelry, we celebrate life’s milestones with you.”
just jewelry, but valuable assets – whether through exquisite diamonds, custom-designed pieces, or fine gold and silver jewelry, Krekeler Jewelers represents a smart and sentimental investment for its clientele.
Like any long-term investment, the success of Krekeler Jewelers is built on a foundation of integrity, expertise, and a commitment to excellence. After A.L. Krekeler established the business in St. Louis; his son, William L. Krekeler, joined in 1961, ensuring the continuity of the family vision. By 1973, William had taken full ownership, and in 1977, he relocated his family to Farmington, Missouri to open the store in a community they hoped to make their home. This move not only expanded the business, but also solidified Krekeler Jewelers’ reputation as a trusted source for valuable and enduring jewelry investments.
Today, under the leadership of Jeff Krekeler and his wife Sheila, the family business continues to thrive, adapting to modern trends while maintaining the quality and service that have defined the brand for decades. Krekelers has been an active member of the Independent Jewelers Organization since 1986, and maintains two certified gemologists on staff, in addition to an expert goldsmith. The store’s long-lasting success is a testament to its ability to offer customers valuable assets that retain and often appreciate in worth over time.
Investing in jewelry is more than just an aesthetic choice—it is a financial decision that carries long-term benefits. Precious metals like gold and platinum, as well as high-quality diamonds and gemstones, tend to appreciate in value. Krekeler
Jewelers specializes in offering pieces that not only complement a wardrobe, but also serve as financial security. Whether it’s a diamond engagement ring, a timeless gold bracelet, or a custom heirloom piece, customers can trust that their purchases will hold their worth.
Beyond tangible value, jewelry carries emotional and legacy-driven investment potential. Many families pass down treasured pieces from generation to generation, making jewelry one of the few investments that offer both sentimental and financial returns. Krekeler Jewelers understands this dual value, offering restoration and customization services to ensure that every piece maintains its brilliance for years to come.
Unlike mass-produced jewelry, custom-designed pieces from Krekeler Jewelers offer unique value that cannot be replicated. Customization ensures that a piece is not only personal but also an exclusive asset in one’s portfolio. The jewelers at Krekeler work closely with customers to design pieces that reflect individuality, making each investment a oneof-a-kind masterpiece. The store also offers expert appraisals, ensuring that customers understand the true value of their purchases. This transparency builds trust and empowers buyers to make informed investment decisions.
Krekeler Jewelers understands that fine jewelry is both a meaningful and financial investment, which is why they offer flexible financing options that fit every budget to make purchasing high-quality pieces more accessible. These options allow customers to enjoy their jewelry, while making manageable payments over time. With competitive rates and a simple application process, Krekeler Jewelers ensures that owning a valuable and lasting treasure is within reach for everyone.
A wise investor understands the importance of protecting their assets, and fine jewelry is no exception. Krekeler Jewelers enhances the longevity of its pieces by offering a comprehensive warranty that
“We start with the wants and the desires, and craft around that to create something not only beautiful, but practical for their lifestyle as well.”
provides peace of mind to buyers. Additionally, they offer complimentary cleaning and inspection services to help maintain the beauty and durability of every piece.
Proper maintenance is crucial for ensuring that jewelry retains its value and brilliance over time. Regular cleanings remove dirt and buildup that can dull gemstones and precious metals, while routine inspections help identify any potential issues, such as loose settings or worn prongs. By taking advantage of Krekeler’s free cleaning and inspection services, customers can preserve the integrity of their jewelry for years to come.
While warranties protect against certain defects and repairs, they do not cover lost,
stolen, or significantly damaged items. For this reason, Krekeler Jewelers strongly recommends that customers insure their valuable pieces. This ensures that even in the unfortunate event of theft, loss, or accidental damage, the investment remains protected, providing an added layer of security and peace of mind.
Just as a well-diversified portfolio benefits from stability and reputation, so too does a business that is deeply invested in its community. Krekeler Jewelers has been a pillar of the Farmington business landscape for decades, fostering relationships that go beyond transactions. The company’s dedication to community engagement, philanthropy, and customer service makes it a trusted name among investors in fine jewelry.
