Our May issue is focused around all things ladies... of course with the celebration of Mother’s Day this follows suit to celebrate each woman’s unique challenges and strengths, gifts and contributions. The essence of being a woman must be navigated through the life expectations of herself, as well as all of those connected to her. As women we are welcomed into the world as a daughter, and then... often next we become a sister, then a friend, then a classmate, a co-worker, a girlfriend, a wife, a mother, an aunt, an executive or business owner, a leader, and - well what did I miss? Oh yes, eventually add becoming a grandmother to this list. To say the least, we women are complicated - right!
Through my many years of experience in the world of being a woman I can speak to all of these relationships and in transparency I’d like to share a new author’s perspective. This is not just for women, but for each and every one of us. In digging into the recently published “The Let Them Theory” by Mel Robbins I stumbled upon some incredible tidbits... please grab a copy for yourself, and there are multiple other titles by the same author.
Here ya go, just a few points to ponder for yourself;
• “Reclaim your time, energy, peace of mind, approval and focus - these are the most precious resources we each have.
• Let Them - let others be THEM, feel what they feel and think what they think.
• DON’T pick up anything that is not “mine”.
• Make a conscious decision NOT to allow other people’s behavior bother me... Stop spending time and energy managing others.
• And finally LET ME - I take the responsibility for what I do next and what I want to do in response to what just happened.”
I will share, the more I read through the pages the more I could feel brain space opening up and could actually think about embracing ME. I’m ready to learn more about how to focus effort on creating a relationship with myself. Ya know, that will just bring a better ME into all of the roles I walk in.
How about you..... can you “Let Them”?
Best to you this May in all the roles you walk in - happy reading!
1 Corinthians 12:4-7 - “There are different gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different ministries, but the same Lord. And there are different activities, but the same God who activates everyone directly. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.”

THE LOVE LUNCHEON BRINGS THE COMMUNITY TOGETHER TO HONOR CLAYTON DABNEY’S LEGACY AND SUPPORT FAMILIES FACING PEDIATRIC CANCER THROUGH LOVE, CONNECTION AND LASTING MEMORIES
Each year, the Dallas Country Club becomes a beacon of hope and compassion for families facing the heartbreaking journey of pediatric cancer.
The Love Luncheon, one of the city's most anticipated charity events, unites the community in support of
Founded by Liz Scott in memory of her daughter, Alex, who lost her battle with cancer, the foundation has raised over 300 million dollars for pediatric cancer research. "Hearing Liz speak was definitely a highlight of this year’s luncheon, as well as the entire lem-
Clayton Dabney for Kids with Cancer, a foundation dedicated to providing support to financially struggling families with children in the final stages of terminal cancer.
The event’s origins date back to 2016 when board member Jenny Saphier envisioned a special way to honor the birthday—February 6th—of Clayton Dabney, a young boy whose own battle with cancer ignited a mission of love and support. Since its inception, the event has grown in both size and scope. Over the years, the luncheon has hosted a range of distinguished keynote speakers, including Jenna Bush, Laura Bush, Barbara Bush and Babe Laufenberg, along with families and social workers served by the foundation.
This year’s Love Luncheon brought an inspiring theme centered around Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.
onade theme," Director of Events and Communications Kate Click says. "She shared stories of her daughter and her desire to help other children, just like Clayton did 30 years ago when he was battling his own cancer. Their similarities are uncanny.”
In addition to sharing these emotional stories, the event underscored the urgent need for continued research and support for pediatric cancer. “Liz shared some of the trials and advancements they’ve seen and been a part of over the last 20 years and the benefits they’ve had for pediatric patients,” Click says. “Sadly, pediatric cancer isn’t going anywhere, so we will continue to serve families with 'Medicine of the Heart' when traditional medicine is no longer going to cure their child.”

child to cancer, the funds raised by the Love Luncheon allow families to create lasting memories with their children during their final days. "What separates us from other groups is our commitment to anonymity," Click shares. "We want the parents to be the heroes, not us."
The foundation’s mission is seen in its efforts to support families like those who have shared their stories. "One of the most touching stories we’ve heard came from a 5-year-old girl with ALL (acute lymphoblastic leukemia) who lived in Dallas," Click says. "The family wanted her to spend her last days with her brother and sister who lived out of the country. Clayton Dabney for Kids with Cancer was able to fly them to Dallas so they could create everlasting memories with their sister before she passed away."
Another story highlighted a young boy from Houston who was battling neuroblastoma. “The highlight of his day was spending time in the bathtub listening to music,” Click shares. “When he became unable to get in and out of the bathtub, Clayton Dabney for Kids with Cancer provided him with a bath lift so he could continue to do his favorite thing.”
These stories are why the community’s support is so crucial—it plays a vital role in making the Love Luncheon successful. Local vendors are an integral part of the event, with 10-12 participating each year, generously donating 22% of their sales back to the foundation. “Each year the vendors change but some, like Jeny Baker
Jewelry and Colores Collective, come back every year," says Click.
Along with being a vendor, there are plenty of ways to get involved with the Love Luncheon and support its important cause. “We are always looking for new sponsors,” Click says. “Whether you are interested in purchasing a table for the event, setting up as a vendor or becoming a special sponsor, we have opportunities for individuals, families and businesses.”
As the Love Luncheon approaches its 10th anniversary in 2026, plans for the next event are already underway. Co-chairs Judee Barrett and Rachel Stephens are dedicated to ensuring the luncheon remains a success, continuing its mission of supporting families in need and raising awareness for pediatric cancer.
As the event grows, so does its impact. The Love Luncheon is not just a celebration of Clayton Dabney’s life and legacy; it’s a testament to the strength of the Dallas community coming together for a cause that is too important to forget. Every year, it reminds us that even in the face of unimaginable hardship, love and compassion can light the way.

Dallas-based cookie business Made By Marge was born out of a simple love for baking and a desire to perfect the chocolate chip cookie. Created by Margaret (Marge) Peus, this side hustle has grown into a beloved local brand. We spoke with Peus to learn more about her journey from life sciences consultant to cookie entrepreneur.
WHAT SPARKED YOUR PASSION FOR BAKING, AND WHY DID YOU FOCUS ON CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES?
“In college, two of my friends’ families frequently hosted us for home cooked meals that always came with chocolate chip cookies. This dessert became a nostalgic reminder of times spent in their homes where doors were always wide open. I believe this nostalgia is somewhat universal—there’s something about a chocolate chip cookie that makes almost everyone feel at home.”
VERY TRUE. WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO TURN YOUR LOVE FOR COOKIES INTO MADE BY MARGE?
“While working from home in summer 2022, I started perfecting my chocolate chip cookie recipe during free time between projects. I knew I’d landed on it when my friends consistently started saying, ‘This is the best cookie I’ve ever had.’ I began selling through my Instagram, and soon after, strangers started asking me if I was ‘the cookie girl.’ That’s when I knew this was a side hustle worth pursuing.”
THOSE ARE SOME PRETTY HIGH ACCOLADES. WHAT ABOUT YOUR COOKIES MAKES THEM ‘THE BEST EVER?’
“I’m admittedly biased, but I think I nailed the ratios: perfectly chocolatey, perfectly sweet, perfectly thick and perfectly salty. Plus, I leave the gross fillers and unwanted preservatives out of my dough–just ingredients you can pronounce.”
WHERE ARE YOUR COOKIES AVAILABLE?
“I primarily take orders through Instagram @madebymarge_ and sell at the Saint Michael’s Farmers Market. Recently, my cookies were featured as specials at Shinsei, Lovers Seafood and Perch Bistro.”
WHAT’S NEXT FOR MADE BY MARGE?
“I’m launching my gluten-free edition this spring! It’s a healthier twist on my classic recipe that includes pasture-raised eggs and grass-fed butter.”
NIVEN MORGAN PRODUCTS PROMOTE SELF-CARE THROUGH INSPIRATIONS DRAWN FROM NATURE
ARTICLE BY DAVID MUSCARI
““Never stand still, and always be willing and ready to change.” - Niven Morgan
It may look like a simple package, or a black and white brand, in contemporary marketing speak, but the story behind Niven Morgan products tells a more significant tale.
And it all started in the mind of the young man, whose name graces every box, years ago as he sat in a drive-time traffic jam. Morgan says he put an idea in motion that afternoon while sitting in run-of-the-mill rush hour, to start his line of luxurious personal-care products and hand-poured candles.
“I did more than just switch lanes that day: I switched careers and everything I knew,” he says reflecting on the unexpected experience that would change his life forever.
Since 1998 Niven Morgan has been the driving force behind a unique company centered on a delicious variety of candles, soaps, lotions, spa products, and home scents, all with fascinating inspirations drawn from his vivid childhood memories formed on a family farm in Louisiana, as well as life experiences gained while exploring the globe.
“I love being outdoors and breathing in the aromas and seeing nature up close, so I’ve traveled the world capturing the essence of exotic and inspiring locales to serve as the spirit for products,” he says.
Morgan points out, that over a quarter of a century after his first bottle of lotion was shipped to his first customer in Lafayette, Louisiana. the Dallas company continues to grow and thrive.
As a company, Niven Morgan walks the walk, and aspires to offer clients the best products to help create the most memorable experiences. “It’s my goal to push self-care,” he says. “I hope my customers
will slow down and relax a bit more when they use my products.”
The packaging is distinctive, yet clean and straightforward, reflecting the heart of Morgan’s products, which he describes as “Simple fragrances and formulations.” There is a certain romance in the fragrant products of Niven Morgan. Compared to other such products, Morgan likes to differentiate, and is quick to credit his team. “I don’t believe there are many organizations that provide the level of service that we do.”
He also believes in the simplicity of making quality products that create memorable experiences.
“Never stand still, and always be willing and ready to change,” is something else he instills in his staff. Critical feedback is important to Morgan. “I receive a ton of emails from customers (regarding) our products and most always they start off with, ‘I love my Niven Morgan products,’ and usually end the conversation by asking us to offer more products.”
He likes the idea of being an accessible company too; “People typically just call or email us with their comments. We prefer it so we can visit with our customers and truly get to know what they like or don’t like.”
Morgan says he is grateful for his “support system in the Park Cities,” as he calls it, with loyal customers at places such as Stanley Korshak, St. Michaels, Preston Road Pharmacy and For Heaven’s Sake where Niven Morgan products are available.
After all these years in business, what makes Morgan such a passionate proponent of his products?
“I am addicted to candles, as well as skincare and personal care,” he says. “I can’t imagine a better job for me.”
Kasa Yoga promotes well-being, alignment of body and mind, and a sense of inner peace.

Christina Siepiela is a success story on several levels, including mind, body, and soul, and a passion for helping others.
Born and raised in Brazil, she worked in education and practiced law for years. While on a vacation in Mexico, Christina met her husband, moved to Dallas, married, and raised two daughters together.
With a lifelong passion for yoga, she decided to start a practice. What began as a small group exercising together blossomed into a thriving studio.
Her first classes were at Bent Tree Country Club. Later she opened a Lovers Lane studio before moving to The Pavilion in the Park Cities.
“The new space reflects our evolution, offering an elevated experience that aligns with our mission of deep transformation and lasting well-being,” she says.
Kasa’s therapeutic yoga emphasizes mindfulness and healing by addressing specific health concerns through personalized practices that may include breathwork, gentle movements, and meditation, all tailored to support individual well-being.
Christina says Kasa breaks the stigma that yoga is only for a specific kind of body or person. Her clientele is an eclectic mix of lifestyles, ages, and body types.
“The Park Cities community values a high quality of life, and Kasa Yoga enhances that,” she says. Our students range from 16 to 96 … Kasa is for everyone—regardless of age, fitness level, or experience with yoga.”
“I don’t just teach yoga, I live it,” says Christina.
It’s been part of her life for over 25 years and shaped her well-being in ways that extend far beyond the mat.
“Science continues to confirm what I’ve personally experienced: the benefits of meditation, silence, and mindful movement are essential to health.”
“Life is about embracing the challenges and the joys, learning from every experience, and continually evolving,” she says.
Kasa Yoga enhances clients’ quality of life by promoting sustainable well-being in an impeccable atmosphere with a dedication to refining and improving, ensuring that the experience stays fresh and transformative.
“We believe in pausing, recalibrating, and moving forward with intention—for a longer, healthier, more vibrant life.”
