The January Issue INSIDE BRITTNEY EVERETT’S NEW WORKOUT STUDIO JA N UA RY 2 02 6
LIFESTYLE LETTER
The Wellness Issue This Is Going to be a Great New Year! As we all step into a fresh new 2026 we invite you to pause, breathe, and embrace a season of renewal. Our Health & Wellness issue is about nurturing what truly matters - your mind, body and spirit. Seemingly, January tends to bring revival for thoughtful ways to restore balance and joy to our everyday lives- whether it’s a new fitness favorite, trying a healthier diet, focusing on creating calm within your business and/or home, or making an effort to reconnect with those who you may have lost touch with. No matter what your NEW direction is for 2026, here’s to your healthiest, happiest and most prosperous year ever! The following is a passage of thought I began to utilize about a year ago - just as my walk as owner and publisher of Park Cities Lifestyle was getting on its feet. I stand on these thoughts each day and perhaps they might be helpful to you as well. Make this a great year in all aspects of your lives! Don’t be afraid to be out of the box, to throw the old box away and create something NEW. That is what the Lord does. He is creative and innovative in his very being. When you feel like you should do it this way or that way, Don’t be afraid to set that aside and do it your way. God is in the business of being Fresh, New, Creative! He delights in creativity! Be Bold, Be New, Be Fresh. Take risks and fall. God took a risk on man, knew it would fail and did it anyway. He knew his plan with Christ from the beginning. Be Bold, Be Courageous, Be Creative. 3 John 1:2 - “Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.” L I N DA L I V I N G S TO N , P U B L I S H E R @ PA R KC I T I E S L I F E S T Y L E (817) 613-7723

WHERE WELLNESS MEETS COMMUNITY AT STAY FIT STUDIO, BRITTNEY EVERETT BRINGS HER SIGNATURE BLEND OF ENERGY, MINDSET, AND MOVEMENT TO A BRICK-AND-MORTAR SPACE INSPIRED BY THE NEIGHBORHOOD THAT SHAPED HER.

Stay Fit Studio might be new to the neighborhood, but its roots run deep in the Park Cities. What began as Brittney Everett’s personal commitment to health and balance has grown into a thriving community and now a brick-and-mortar home for her signature approach to movement. We spoke with Everett to learn more about her journey, her philosophy, and the inspiration behind her new studio.
YOU’VE BUILT SUCH AN ENGAGED FOLLOWING IN DALLAS THROUGH YOUR FITNESS COMMUNITY. CAN YOU SHARE WHAT INITIALLY DREW YOU TO HEALTH AND WELLNESS, AND WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO TURN THAT PASSION INTO A CAREER?
“It really started when I was about 19. I was out of shape, didn’t understand nutrition, and had zero structure when it came to movement. One day I went to the track to run and couldn’t even finish a full lap. That was my wake-up call. From there, I dove into learning about fitness, nutrition, and mindset. When I finally had my energy and confidence back, I started to see my body respond, and that feeling of strength and vitality hooked me. I then got into bodybuilding, which taught me discipline, structure, and deep commitment, but it also showed me the darker side of perfectionism.
“What began as ‘just workouts’ has become a lifestyle and a mindset that women all over the country live by.”

I learned that fitness isn’t about punishment or extremes; it’s about creating a life you can sustain and enjoy. Becoming a mother deepened that lesson and changed how I approach my own health and coach others. Now my mission is to help women build strength physically, mentally, and emotionally. I know what it feels like to start from scratch and completely rebuild yourself.”
HOW DID STAY FIT VIRTUAL FIRST COME TO LIFE, AND HOW HAS IT EVOLVED SINCE THOSE EARLY DAYS?
“Stay Fit Virtual was born during a time when connection mattered most, in 2020. What started as a way to bring my community together online quickly became a movement. I began teaching live virtual classes from my living room, and it grew organically through word of mouth and social media. Today, we’ve evolved into a full wellness platform that blends strength training, sculpt and mat pilates, mobility, mindset work, and nutrition—all rooted in balance and sustainability. What began as ‘just workouts’ has become a lifestyle and a mindset that women all over the country live by.”
YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ARE ROOTED HERE IN THE PARK CITIES. HOW HAS LIVING IN THIS COMMUNITY SHAPED YOU PERSONALLY AND PROFESSIONALLY?
“The Park Cities will always hold a special place in my heart because it’s where my fitness journey really began. My very first job as a trainer was at Larry North Fitness, right here in the neighborhood, where I learned not only about training and discipline, but also about people, connection, and community. There’s a strong sense of togetherness here. Over the years, I’ve met so many incredible people here who’ve supported and encouraged me. It’s rare, and something I don’t take lightly. Personally, it’s made me more intentional about how I show up for others, and professionally, it’s inspired me to create spaces that reflect that same energy—where people feel seen, supported, and part of something bigger than themselves. That’s what community is all about.”
WHEN ARE YOU OPENING YOUR FIRST PHYSICAL STAY FIT LOCATION? CONGRATULATIONS! WHAT INSPIRED THE DECISION TO EXPAND FROM VIRTUAL TO IN-PERSON, AND WHAT CAN CLIENTS EXPECT FROM THE NEW SPACE?
“Thank you! We plan to open in February. This has truly been years in the making. I love the digital space and the community it’s built, but I thrive on energy and connection, and there’s just
16

something about being in the room with people that can’t be replicated through a screen. I needed that spark, that exchange of energy, that feeling of momentum. That’s what inspired me to create a space—Stay Fit Studio—that reflects everything I’ve learned over the years. Every detail has been thought through: the lighting, the music, the flow, even the locker rooms and showers are designed so you can seamlessly go from class to work or lunch. It’s all about creating an experience that supports your lifestyle, not just your workout. At its core, this studio is about bringing energy back into movement and reminding people what it feels like to be fully present, inspired, and connected.”
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR FITNESS PHILOSOPHY AND TEACHING STYLE?
“My philosophy is simple but powerful: move with purpose, master the basics, and build resilience from the inside out. I believe that when movement, music, and mindset align, transformation happens. My teaching style blends structure and intuition. It’s not about perfection, it’s about progression. I challenge my clients, but I also meet them where they are. From the way a workout flows, to how the lighting shifts, to the words I use to motivate, everything is designed to make you feel grounded, strong, and capable. My goal is that every woman walks out knowing she can handle whatever the rest of her day brings.”
AS YOU LOOK TOWARD THE YEAR AHEAD, WHAT ARE YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT, BOTH FOR YOUR CLIENTS AND FOR YOURSELF?
“This next chapter feels like an evolution, both in my business and who I am as a person. I’ve spent years building a lifestyle that honors health, motherhood, creativity, and leadership without sacrificing joy or purpose. Opening the studio is the physical expression of that. I’m most excited to create a space where my members feel seen, supported, and inspired to grow. Equally, I want to empower my instructors to step into their highest potential and feel confident leading with heart, developing their own voice, and becoming the kind of leaders who create impact inside and outside the studio. This is bigger than me. It’s about building a community of strong women who lead by example, lift each other up, and redefine what wellness really looks like. That’s the energy I want to bring into this next season.” Find out more at @stayfitvirtual

After three successful years at SMU’s Styslinger/ Altec Tennis Complex, the Dallas Open made a bold move last year to the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, home of the Dallas Cowboys. It was a strategic shift that resulted in bigger crowds, more marquee players, increased prize money, and greater visibility. Dallas Open EVP and Tournament Director Peter Lebedevs is enthusiastic, to say the least, saying his team hit all the lofty goals set last year. CONTINUED >

Now, he’s aiming for even more progress in 2026. Lebedevs noted a dramatic attendance increase, from 40,000 to 62,000 attendees, and three players in the top 10. “The way GF Sports and the Dallas Cowboys worked together to create the amazing event,” he said, “Both sides brought new ideas and concepts from our experiences to create the final version.” He said he was also proud … “of how tennis players trusted our vision and supported the event so well in its new home.” “The tournament sits in a good spot in the calendar for Dallas support, as well as surrounding states,” said former pro tennis

Lebedevs points to an exciting new Fan Zone, tasty upgrades in food and specialty drinks, and various technologies to enhance the overall experience. “Once fans are in the venue, they’ll be able to watch all the players practicing for their matches from just 18 feet away.”
“The Ford Center is an unbelievable place to host any event, let alone a tennis tournament,” said Isner. “The facility is world-class and creates an atmosphere that’s attractive for players and fans alike.” VIP boxes and the new courtside seats will have access to the Choctaw Club, with its exclusive culinary offerings for every session, plus player meet and greets every evening. “There is something for everyone at the tournament,” said Lebedevs He points to one more unique offering at the Dallas Open: “The level of athletes playing and how accessible they are to the fans -- no other sport offers (approachability) like tennis.” JANUARY 2 0 2 6 | C I TYL I FE STYL E . Women’s professional sports teams are changing the local landscape. In a region historically dominated by Mavericks, Cowboys, and Stars, say hello to the Dallas Pulse. The newly formed professional women’s volleyball team is preparing to start its inaugural season on January 10 against Indianapolis. Home games will be played at the Comerica Center in Frisco. Last October, Major League Volleyball, which is now in its third year, announced that the Pulse would join existing franchises in cities such as Atlanta, Columbus, Grand Rapids, Indianapolis, Omaha, Orlando, and San Diego. The league has plans to expand in Washington, D.C., and Northern California. DFW has been volleyball-obsessed for decades. Grady Raskin, Pulse President and CEO, called it, “One of the most passionate and competitive markets in the country.” Since North Texas routinely produces elite athletes through nationally recognized programs, the Pulse represents a logical move into a new frontier with plans to tap into this thriving community, including an estimated 60,000 local club members.
The economics are promising. According to Deloitte’s 2025 Women in Sports Report, women’s professional leagues are expected to generate over $2 billion in global revenue by 2026, a reflection of remarkable growth and investment. Overall, revenues from women’s elite sports have surged an estimated 240% over the past 4 years, with the market valued at $692 million in 2022. Pulse players come from prestigious programs like Texas A&M, Oregon, Notre Dame, and Arizona State, with plenty of DFW connections: Celia Cullen currently plays for SMU; Geli Cyr and Kaylee Cox played high school volleyball at Flower Mound. Shannon Winzer is the head coach. The married mom of three served as head coach of Canada’s Women’s National Volleyball Team. “Sports are a big deal in Dallas, and to be part of an MLV team in its first season, helping build a legacy in an iconic city, is an opportunity I couldn’t turn down,” said the new coach, who brings a load of international experience to the Pulse.

There’s something about a sizzling fajita platter and a tajinrimmed margarita that feels like home to Dallasites, and this season, there’s a stylish new spot to indulge in both. From the team behind some of the city’s most beloved dining destinations, Vandelay Hospitality Group introduces El Molino, an intimate, elevated take on Mexican cuisine in the heart of Snider Plaza. Bathed in moody candlelight and framed by rich wood accents, deep red banquettes, and crisp ivory tablecloths, El Molino brings a touch of oldschool glamour to the neighborhood. Designed with the same sultry sophistication that defines Vandelay favorites like Drake’s and Jack & Harry’s, the restaurant marries the vibrant energy of Mexico City with the elegance of French design— perfect for margarita-filled dinners that linger late into the evening. Anchoring the menu is an impressive wood-fired fajita program, sizzling with premium cuts like filet mignon, grilled adobo chicken, pineapple ribeye, and guajillo-marinated shrimp, all paired with classic accompaniments and signature sauces. Beyond fajitas, the kitchen showcases an exciting blend of comfort and innovation, where refined presentation meets unexpected flavor combinations. Highlights include the Branzino Diamanté, offered Veracruzstyle or with lemon garlic, and the Las Vegas ribeye marinated in guajillo pineapple nectar. “Our menu leads with creativity, with an underlying tone of fan favorites presented in a slightly upscale format,” says Hunter Pond, CEO of Vandelay Hospitality Group. “Fun touches—like Fried Chicken Tenderito fajitas—live alongside timeless dishes like crab and shrimp enchiladas, while our cocktail program pays tribute to how I like to have my margaritas: strong and filled to the brim.” Behind the bar, the restaurant’s signature drink, the Flaming Frozen Margarita, makes a dramatic entrance, while the Spicy Margarita with Fortaleza Reposado delivers just the right kick. For tequila lovers, a curated lineup of rare bottles and house Chupito shots—like the smoky Palo Santo—reflect El Molino’s commitment to quality and authenticity. Pond describes El Molino as “an ode to if Javier’s and Drake’s had an offspring,” and the vibe lives up to the vision. It’s cozy yet cosmopolitan, refined yet fun—the kind of place where every night feels like a special occasion. So as the new year settles in, make your reservation, raise a glass, and toast to good company, great flavor, and another Dallas classic in the making.

The New Frontier of Health U N D E R S TA N D I N G T H E “WHY” BEHIND WELLNESS ARTICLE BY ANGELA BROOCKERD PHOTOGRAPHY BY JANIE JONES AND PROVIDED
AN INTERVIEW WITH DR. KYLE GILLETT
Why do so many people feel exhausted, foggy, or unwell, even when their medical tests insist everything is “fine”? Why are we prescribed quick fixes instead of being given real answers? Across modern medicine, a shift is happening. More patients are demanding real explanations, and more clinicians are rethinking what “healthcare” should actually mean. Leading that shift is Dr. Kyle Gillett, a dual board-certified physician in Family Medicine and Obesity Medicine and an expert in metabolic, hormonal, and preventive health. Through his clinic, research, and The Gillett Health Podcast, he’s become a trusted voice for people seeking science-based, root-cause solutions rather than symptom-based band-aids. “Functional medicine is really ‘root cause medicine,’” Dr. Gillett often says. “It’s about asking why the problem exists and not just quieting the noise.” In this Q&A, Dr. Gillett breaks down the most common questions he hears from patients and offers simple, actionable guidance anyone can begin using today.
28
EDU CAT ION C OR N E R | H E ALT H + WE LLN E SS
1. “WHY DO I FEEL AWFUL EVEN THOUGH MY LABS ARE ‘NORMAL’?”
Dr. Gillett: I like to say, “There is no such thing as ‘we’ve done everything.’” We can always dig deeper. Often, the labs ordered are the wrong type of assay, or important markers like ferritin or SHBG—which binds testosterone and estrogen—are completely missed. Beyond lab work, there are other factors: mitochondrial health, sleep quality, mental health, and even how sensitive your dopamine and serotonin receptors are. “Normal” labs do not always equal normal physiology for you.
2. “HOW DO I FIX MY ENERGY, BRAIN FOG, OR SLEEP WITHOUT 20 MEDICATIONS?”
Dr. Gillett: Start with a good, comprehensive lab panel to assess nutrients and hormones. Then build the foundation with sleep. My favorite tool is the 10/3/2/1/0 rule: • 10 hours before bed: No caffeine • 3 hours: Avoid large meals and alcohol • 2 hours: No vigorous exercise • 1 hour: No bright blue or white light • 0: No snoozing and no inconsistent sleep/wake times Aim for 7+ hours of high-quality sleep. When sleep improves, energy almost always follows.
3. “IS MY GUT ACTUALLY CAUSING ALL THESE OTHER PROBLEMS?”
Dr. Gillett: Gut health influences most major health issues, but it’s rarely the only problem. Diet is my second pillar of health for a reason. Exercise, sleep, and stress reduction all improve gut function too. Even simple tools like self-hypnotherapy apps can reduce gut-related symptoms.
4. “WHAT CAN I DO RIGHT NOW, TODAY, TO START FEELING BETTER?”
Dr. Gillett: Focus on the pillars of health: diet, exercise, sleep, stress, sunlight, social connection, and spiritual health. Treat them like habits and find ways to make them enjoyable or easy to start. Supplements and medications are supportive tools, not substitutes. Think of them like turbo chargers: they enhance a system that’s already functioning.
A FINAL WORD FROM DR. GILLETT
“The goal isn’t to tell people what to do, rather it’s to give them the information they need to decide what’s best for themselves.” By understanding the why behind your symptoms, labs, and lifestyle choices, you become the driver, not the passenger, of your health journey.
“I believe that true innovation requires a commitment to constructive selfcriticism to continuously raise the standard of care.” To hear the extended conversation with Dr. Kyle Gillett, scan the QR code for an exclusive podcast episode.
