LIFESTYLE LETTER
The best is yet to come Growing up, we always had music on spanning Frank Sinatra (hence the headline), The Beatles, and Janis Joplin. Now, my husband and I continue that musical tradition for our family, always playing a range of tunes. However, ever since my sister taught me the Electric Slide to “Achy Breaky Heart” as a kid, I’ve had an adoration for country music. Every country song tells a story often about love, heartache, horses or drinking. And because I love a good story, I often gravitate towards playing country for our houseful to enjoy. It is with great pleasure that we welcome our 2024 issue spotlighting the one and only Dierks Bentley, a hometown country superstar. It was an honor chatting with the fan favorite who couldn’t be more chill, friendly, funny, and down-toearth. We talked about all the things, and he even shared with me his new year resolution: savoring and celebrating the good times. As we welcome 2024, I continue to live by the motto: the best is yet to come while embracing Bentley’s two cents to celebrate the happy moments whether they be big or small. This is our health and wellness issue, and we cover a variety of topics that will help elevate your overall physical, emotional, and financial wellness this year. Good health goes beyond eating healthy; it’s about fueling your soul, living with purpose, and achieving a stronger sense of self. Prioritizing your own well-being is essential for long-term happiness and fulfillment; it is an act of self-care and self-respect. We often make resolutions to change ourselves; this year, make a resolution to be yourself. That is why I hope you’ll partake in this issue’s fun quiz helping you determine personalized intention for the new year. The bad news is time flies. The good news is you’re the pilot. From our family to yours, may you have good health, lots of happiness, and a beautiful 2024. Thank you for your kindness and support, and for being part of our Paradise Valley City Lifestyle family.

5 Essential Tips for Staying Healthy During Cold & Flu Season As we approach the cold and flu season, it becomes increasingly important to prioritize our health and take preventive measures to stay well. One approach that has gained popularity in recent years is IV hydration. IV hydration, also known as intravenous hydration, offers a range of benefits that can help us recover faster from cold and flu symptoms while strengthening our immune system. Here are five key facts you should know about IV hydration.
IV Hydration for Improved Absorption IV hydration is also useful for individuals who have difficulty taking oral medications or have compromised digestive systems. Some people with cold and flu symptoms may struggle to swallow pills or keep down food and water due to throat pain, nausea, or a weak stomach. IV therapy helps ensure that necessary medications and fluids are delivered directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system. Rapid Relief from Symptoms One of the main reasons why IV hydration is effective for cold and flu is its ability to provide immediate relief and replenishment. When we are sick, our bodies often become dehydrated due to fever, sweating, and increased mucus production. Drinking fluids orally can take time to be absorbed and may not provide sufficient hydration. IV hydration, on the other hand, bypasses the digestive system and delivers fluids directly into the bloodstream. This allows for rapid absorption and re-hydration, providing fast relief from symptoms such as dry mouth, fatigue, and dizziness.
Boosting Immunity with Essential Nutrients In addition to hydration, IV therapy can also deliver essential vitamins and minerals that support our immune system’s fight against cold and flu viruses. Illness can deplete our nutrient stores as our bodies work hard to combat the infection. IV hydration can be tailored to include a blend of vital nutrients such as vitamin C, B-complex vitamins, zinc, and magnesium. These nutrients are known to strengthen immune function and aid in faster recovery from illness. Convenience and Safety It is crucial to emphasize that IV hydration should always be administered by qualified healthcare professionals. These professionals have the necessary expertise to assess your condition, customize the IV fluids and nutrients to your specific needs, and closely monitor your response to the therapy. The convenience of IV hydration is that qualified mobile nurses, nurse practitioners, and physicians can administer it in the safety of your own home. This minimizes your risk of exposure to crowded locations when you are in a weakened state, prioritizing your safety.
A Personalized Approach to Your Care Each individual’s health needs are unique, and IV hydration allows for customization to address specific requirements. Whether you have difficulty taking oral medications, struggle with dehydration, or need a boost to your immune system, IV therapy can be tailored accordingly. Seasoned healthcare professionals administering therapy should assess your condition, consider your medical history, and create a personalized plan to ensure optimal results.

HOMETOWN COUNTRY MUSIC STAR DIERKS BENTLEY MAKES HIS RETURN TO THE OFFICIAL AFTERPARTY OF THE PEOPLE’S OPEN
DOWN WITH DIERKS 16
M UST SE E | ENTERTAI NME N T
Nearly 30 years ago, Dierks and his dad loaded up their family truck so the country-loving musician could try his luck in Nashville. Fast forward to now, the fan favorite is rocking the charts. This year, the superstar returns to The People’s Open, gracing the stage
spent summers at Lake Powell, and for a job, I painted citrus tree trunks.
WHEN DID YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH COUNTRY?
I recall driving around with my daddy always listening to country
“I HAVE A BEAUTIFUL FAMILY, FRIENDS, AND THE GIFT OF MY BAND.” at the Coors Light Birds Nest. And because Dierks considers Arcadia home at heart, Bentley took the time to chat with our publisher, reflecting on growing up in AZ and being an honorary Thunderbird.
WHY ARE YOU EXCITED TO HEADLINE AT THE COORS LIGHT BIRDS NEST?
It’s one of the biggest parties of the year; a unique venue and lively audience.
DID YOU ATTEND THE OPEN AS A KID?
My dad was a Thunderbird and worked The Open, so it was awesome when I became an Honorary Thunderbird.
WHAT ARE YOUR FONDEST MEMORIES BEING RAISED IN THE VALLEY?
I grew up in Arcadia before Arcadia was cool. Memories include causing havoc at Fashion Square, skateboarding around the mall. We also hopped in people’s yards taking beer from their refrigerators and partook in legendary desert parties doing bottle rocket wars. Our family
music and went to every concert possible. However, my first concert was Bon Jovi with Skid Row at Compton Terrace. Later, I became friends with Bon Jovi and told him I never watched the show because there was a girl next to me wearing a black leather dress; I spent the whole time staring at her. In response, Bon Jovi replied: that’s the sign of a good concert.
WHEN DID YOU MOVE TO NASHVILLE?
When I was 19, my dad and I drove cross-country to Nashville in my ’94 Chevy Truck. I have a hard time of letting go and still have that truck.
HOW DOES IT FEEL TO BE LIVING YOUR DREAM?
I used to separate my career with my personal life, and at some point, you realize it’s one full life... the ultimate dream.
WHILE YOU LIVE IN NASHVILLE, DO YOU STILL CONSIDER PHOENIX HOME?
Absolutely. I love popping into Whiskey Row, The Henry, and hiking Camelback. CONTINUED >

TELL US ABOUT YOUR CHILDHOOD SWEETHEARTTURNED-WIFEY, CASSIDY.
Cass and I met at Ingleside Middle School; I had a crush on her. We dated on and off, and in 2005 I was opening for George Straight, she walked on our bus, and I knew that was it.
IF CASS COULD DESCRIBE YOU IN THREE WORDS, WHAT WOULD SHE WOULD SAY?
Loyal, a natural dad, and that I’m funny.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT BEING A DAD?
I love the big moments, but also the daily grind like school drop-offs.
ANY NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS?
Savoring and celebrating the good times.
WHAT DO YOU DO TO RELAX?
I hike; being in nature is recharging. I’m also a pilot and love flying.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE SONGS TO PERFORM?
“I Hold On” because it talks about my truck and is a love song about my wife. My favorite song I ever recorded was “Son of the Sun.” It’s a personal ode to sometimes needing to lose myself so I don’t lose my mind.

M UST SE E | ENTERTAI NME N T
“ARIZONA IS A HUB FOR COUNTRY MUSIC.” ANY PRE-PERFORMANCE RITUALS?
I have a drink 30 minutes before I go on; usually a spicy margarita. I’ll have some whiskey waiting for me on stage as well. Before showtime, my band and I go around the horn and say something we’re grateful for.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR INVOLVEMENT WITH THE NEW GLOBAL AMBASSADOR AND WITHCO.
I’m an investor and fan of The Global Ambassador spearheaded by my buddies Sam Fox and Brian Frakes. The hotel is across the street from where my dad once worked! WithCo is another one of my endeavors; it’s the ultimate mocktail. It also tastes great with some Casamigos. dierks.com

have taken the time to create goals, dedicate time to pursuing them. Prioritize yourself! ”
As we welcome 2024, how can you restructure resolutions into creating realistic goals? Here are six questions and answers I’m often asked when it comes to putting forth plans for success.
What kind of goals should I create? Set meaningful targets with purpose and intention by creating challenging but manageable goals. For example, don’t be broad with goals like: “I want to start a new business.” Instead, a productive initiative would be: “I want to form my corporation and have my accounting set up within 30 days.”
Can you give examples of goal verbiage? Be Specific. Instead of: “I want to have a profitable business,” consider measurable statements like: “I want to be ‘x’ dollars net positive by the end of 2024,” or, as I offer my athlete clientele, “I want to have three assists in every basketball game.” Break down big goals into digestible pieces where you can achieve steady progress.
How should I ensure following through? Keep tabs on your 2024 intentions with a goal journal. Check-in with yourself regularly, re-visiting your journal, giving yourself notes on progress, and potentially adding more goals throughout the year.
How can I eliminate distractions and focus on my goals? If you have taken the time to create goals, dedicate time to pursuing them. Schedule time with yourself (and yes, put it in your calendar) to ensure a distraction-free zone.
What is the optimal timeline for achieving a goal? Sure, it’s timely to goal-set now being the beginning of 2024, but know you can goal-set year-round. Write down three personal, three professional, and three health/wellness goals for all-around perspective.
Is there such thing as too big of a goal? Set yourself up for success. Challenge yourself with goals that have a strong realm of achievable possibility. brookchouletmd.com

OLIVIA’S BOOK CLUB ARTICLE BY OLIVIA FIERRO
Reads to Radiate your New Year We’ve all done it... starting a new year wrestling with resolutions and exploring first steps toward a refreshed version of ourselves. Books can be building blocks to bettering our mindset: gifting new ideas, perspectives, and possibilities. Somewhere in the pages of these self-improvement recommendations, aim to discover something that ignites a spark within you.
BIG MAGIC BY ELIZABETH GILBERT Elizabeth Gilbert is best known for Eat, Pray, Love and City of Girls (beloved by my book club!), but for me personally, Gilbert’s most important work is this guide to “creative living beyond fear.” A blend of personal anecdotes, science, and humor, it reads like friendly advice via a beloved friend. A how-to for letting go of the useless pursuit of perfectionism and a call to welcome creative inspiration, Big Magic offers ways to achieve a happier more expanded life. Start the new year learning to unleash the magic within you! Gilbert’s optimism is contagious.
WAKE UP GRATEFUL BY KRISTI NELSON Superficial nods to gratitude are everywhere like a meme or motto on a coffee mug; quirky pops of positivity, but with little depth. The opposite should be said of Kristi Nelson’s book. The Harvard educated executive and cancer survivor reveals ways we can radically change how we experience what happens in our lives. Among five points of perspective for grateful living practices, she explores poignancy, which Nelson writes “allows joy and grief to co-exist harmoniously ...the tension of all things beautiful and difficult occurring simultaneously.” This book is a salvation for healing wounds and a guide for navigating challenges yet to come.

Fans at the “Greatest Show on Grass” can now bring in refillable water containers (32oz or less and no glass) and fill them at designated water stations at the Talking Stick Resort Fan Zone. Remember, containers must be empty before you enter and when you leave the grounds. You know why. There’s only one place where fans of “The People’s Open” can score official gear – the WM Phoenix Open merchandise tent. And this year, that tent will be five times bigger. Score anything and everything WM Phoenix Open. The new merchandise tent is adjacent to the revamped Talking Stick Resort Fan Zone. Pairings guides are going fully digital this year. If you need to know when your favorite PGA TOUR stars, celebrities or Hall-of-Fame athletes tee off at the WM Phoenix Open, download the PGA TOUR app. There will also be a new small hospitality venue on the 9th hole called “Nine.”
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
Arrive early, carpool and ride-share (there are drop-off points near the main tournament entrance). There is free parking, but it fills fast. The only place to score an autograph from your favorite players or celebrities playing in the Annexus Pro-Am is in designated autograph zones located near the Driving Range and the cart pad near the Clubhouse. Ages 15 and younger are free into the tournament but only those 3 years and younger are permitted into the hospitality venues without a credential. Wear green for Saturday’s #GREENOUT. For every fan, volunteer, service animal and – even players and caddies – who wear green, The Thunderbirds and title sponsor WM will donate money to deserving non-profit organizations with a sustainability focus. Gates open at 7am of tournament week. It’s suggested you get in line a bit earlier, especially on Friday and Saturday.
CONCERT IN THE COLISEUM
The Thunderbirds are excited to once again host the annual Concert in the Coliseum on the famous 16th hole. On Saturday, February 3rd, GRAMMY® Award-nominated and eight-time diamond-certified global superstar Post Malone will rock the stage live from TPC Scottsdale presented by Swire Coca-Cola. Fans will enter through the main WM Phoenix Open entrance and enjoy an engaging experience on the walk to 16 featuring drink sampling and activities. Gates will open in the afternoon around 3:30pm.
THE COORS LIGHT BIRDS NEST
Kick it up a notch after the WM Phoenix Open at the infamous Coors Light Birds Nest. Food, drinks, games and entertainment begin at The Pavilions when gates open at 3pm. The Nest is a 21-and-over event, located directly across from the main entrance of the WM Phoenix Open at 82nd St and Bell Rd. Check the website for items you should leave at home. coorslightbirdsnest.com Schedule: • Wednesday, February 7th: HARDY & BAILEY ZIMMERMAN • Thursday, February 8th: DIERKS BENTLEY • Friday, February 9th: DURAN DURAN
THE THUNDERBIRDS GIVE BACK
100% of proceeds from the tournament go back to the community and benefit Arizona charities. In 2023, the tournament raised $14.5 million. In 88 years, The Thunderbirds have raised more than $190 million. wmphoenixopen.com
Dubbed “The Greatest Show on Grass” and “The People’s Open,” 2024’s Waste Management Phoenix Open is sure to be the hottest multi-day event on the green yet. Dates are February 5th-11th, but the party starts February 3rd with the Concert in the Coliseum.
