Before
Q: Can you tell us a bit about your experience as a dog groomer and your passion for helping dogs look and feel their best? A: My journey as a dog groomer has been nothing short of transformative and deeply fulfilling. The bond that forms between a groomer and the dogs we care for is truly special. The trust that's established, combined with the joy in a dog's demeanor after a grooming session, keeps me passionate about my work. Q: What are the most common skin and coat issues that dogs face during the winter season? A: In the winter, dogs often grapple with dry skin, which can lead to itching and discomfort. To maintain healthy coats, it's crucial to stick to a regular grooming schedule and focus on de-shedding to remove the dead undercoat. Q: How can dog owners identify these issues in their pets? A: To preempt dry skin, consider using a humidifier at home to add moisture to the indoor air. Adequate hydration and

incorporating healthy fats and oils into your dog's diet can also help. Pay close attention to your dog's diet and maintain a consistent grooming schedule. It's essential not to over-brush your dog, particularly during shedding. Opt for topical moisturizers like Eqyss Moisturizer, Marigold, or Micro Tek spray, or try safe home remedies like coconut oil, pure aloe vera, or apple cider vinegar. Q: What grooming practices can help prevent or alleviate these winter-related skin and coat problems? A: Grooming practices that can address winter-related skin and coat issues include de-shedding and regular grooming appointments. The key is to maintain your dog's coat health throughout the winter season. Q: Are there specific grooming tools or techniques that work well during the winter months? A: Yes, specialized grooming tools such as undercoat brushes, slicker brushes, combs, and detanglers are valuable for various coat types. It's essential to choose
tools that suit your dog's specific needs, be it long fur or double coats. Q: What's your advice on bathing dogs during the winter? A: Bathing dogs during the winter can be challenging due to the cold. It's best to use a moisturizing shampoo and follow up with an aftercare product to keep their skin hydrated. Q: How often should they be bathed? A: During the winter, aim to bathe your dog every 4-6 weeks to avoid over-drying their skin. It's also a good practice to consult with your veterinarian for guidance on the right frequency. Q: Do you recommend any particular shampoos or conditioners for winter grooming? A: Yes, Eqyss and IGroom offer fantastic grooming products that work well in the winter. Their versatile products are suitable for various animals, including cats, dogs, and horses. Another option to consider is the IGroom shampoo with Argan Oil and Vitamin E. CONTINUED >

“THE TRUST THAT’S ESTABLISHED, COMBINED WITH THE JOY IN A DOG’S DEMEANOR AFTER A GROOMING SESSION, KEEPS ME PASSIONATE ABOUT MY WORK.”
Q: What's the best way to dry a dog's coat without causing damage or making them too cold? A: To ensure a dog's coat dries effectively without causing harm or discomfort, I recommend applying a leave-in conditioner and removing excess moisture before using a dryer. This approach helps maintain their coat's health.
brushes, that you find effective for winter skin and coat care? A: Beyond Eqyss and IGroom, I also rely on Liliann Ruff's waterless shampoos, which are handy when a full bath isn't feasible. These products have proven effective in maintaining winter skin and coat health.
Q: How important is regular brushing in maintaining a healthy coat during the winter? A: Regular brushing is essential to prevent matting and discomfort, especially for dogs with longer fur. However, it's crucial not to overbrush, as excessive brushing can lead to dryness.
Q: Some dogs have allergies or sensitivities to grooming products. What should owners look for in hypoallergenic products? A: When choosing grooming products, it's crucial to opt for those with a mild or unscented formula. Heavy scents can trigger sensitive skin, potentially leading to allergies. Awareness of your pet's sensitivities is key to their overall health.
Q: Do you have recommendations for specific brushes or combs that work well for different coat types? A: Depending on the type of coat, consider using specific tools like slicker brushes, detanglers, and undercoat brushes. For longer-fur dogs, a comb and slicker brush are ideal, while double-coated dogs may benefit from an undercoat brush. Breeds like poodles, bichons, and doodles require slicker brushes, leave-in conditioners like the Survivor by Eqyss, metal combs to prevent matting, and dematting combs. Q: Winter air can be very dry. What can dog owners do to prevent dry skin and coat in their pets? A: To mitigate the effects of dry winter air on your pet's skin and coat, use a humidifier indoors, keep your dog well-hydrated, provide a diet rich in healthy fats, and stick to a consistent grooming routine. Additionally, consider applying balm to their noses and paws to prevent skin cracking. Q: Can you recommend specific grooming products, such as shampoos, conditioners, or

Q: How can they identify if their dog is having an allergic reaction to a grooming product? A: Dogs experiencing an allergic reaction to grooming products may exhibit signs like irritated skin, excessive scratching, hives, rashes, inflammation, or swelling, even if these symptoms are obscured by fur. In some cases, allergies may manifest as vomiting, diarrhea, chronic ear infections, or watery eyes. Q: Are there any additional winter skin and coat care tips or insights you'd like to share with our readers? A: In addition to grooming, regularly check your pets for foxtails and unwelcome critters, as these can cause discomfort. Consult your pet groomer for aftercare guidance, as they can offer invaluable advice. Maintaining your pet's hygiene, diet, and stimulation is key to their well-being. Consistent routine checkups and plenty of love are vital for your furry family members, who rely on you as their life and best friend.

LIVING V I V I DLY EXPLORE THE PATH OF JOE AND KRISSY ANGELO AND THE INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY OF VIVID CHURCH
In the vibrant tapestry of Vivid Church's history, the story of Joe and Krissy Angelo shines as a testament to the transformative power of faith. Their journey, far from conventional, is a remarkable narrative of redemption, resilience, and unwavering devotion. Before embracing their calling to ministry, Joe and Krissy were entangled in the grip of a turbulent lifestyle. "Our lives revolved around the typical pursuits: education, a house, friends, and parties, all in search of happiness. Paradoxically, as we acquired these desires, we fought more and found ourselves immersed in drinking, self-absorption, cheating, and lying. More became the supposed remedy, yet it only left us more broken," said Joe Angelo. Then, one fateful weekend, Krissy decided to accompany Joe's mother to church. Little did she know that this experience would transform her life. She had heard of Jesus but had never truly known Him until that day. The encounter filled her with love and forgiveness, igniting a profound change within her. Joe's journey took a similar turn. He left film school to follow his calling to ministry, moving from internships to overseeing youth ministries and contributing to the establishment of two thriving churches. Their lives transitioned from self-centered pursuits to positively impacting others. Originally from the Midwest, they followed their calling to plant a church here in Brea, California. Today, they lead Vivid Church, a place where people can perceive Jesus clearly. It's not just about "knowing of Jesus" but truly knowing him. Vivid Church is a welcoming haven, regardless of where you are on your spiritual journey.
Vivid Church, as its name suggests, is all about making faith come alive. It's a place where you can experience the profound and vivid presence of Jesus, where the images in your mind are clear and powerful. It's not just another place of worship; it's a movement that transcends the walls of a building. The Angelos envision it as a place where disciples are made, with a mission to create more disciples. Their goal is that using their ministry and small groups, they will help create a ripple effect of faith and love that extends far beyond the boundaries of southern California. With a solid foundation and a community eager to embrace it, Vivid Church has opened its doors, ready to welcome one and all. It's not merely a place for Sunday sermons; it's a vibrant, living community where faith takes shape and lives are transformed. This makes it a place of reflection, and a home away from home. It's a place where you can find your faith, where you can be yourself, and where you can become part of something much bigger. Joe and Krissy Angelo, along with their wonderful family, are eagerly waiting to extend a warm welcome and open their hearts to you. The heart of Vivid, however, isn't just the physical space—it's the vibrant and diverse community that gathers there. You'll encounter individuals from all walks of life, united by their shared faith and the desire to grow together. It's a place where you can find your own unique place in the grand tapestry of faith. The Angelos, in their role as spiritual shepherds, are not just names on a bulletin; they're compassionate leaders who are genuinely interested in your spiritual growth. Joe and Krissy bring their extensive experience and

Additionally, Joe and Krissy spearhead "The Married Life," a marriage ministry with over 100,000 online followers. They are fervently committed to strengthening marriages, guiding them towards prosperity. Vivid Church in Brea, California, is not just a religious institution; it's a welcoming home where you can explore your faith and be part of a community that truly cares. Joe and Krissy Angelo, alongside their wonderful family, are eagerly waiting to extend a warm welcome and open their hearts to you. The City Lifestyle
Giving Campaign
2023 30
G IV IN G BAC K | L IFE + CULTURE
“
This Giving Campaign is all about personally impacting the lives of people we know with an unexpected check in the mail just to say that someone thought of them this holiday season.”
The annual City Lifestyle Giving Campaign is in its 4th year. Last holiday season we gave away over $300,000 to help 116 individuals and families in need, but we need your help to make it happen again this year. With nominations flooding in from community members and leaders such as judges, police officers, teachers, nurses, social workers, mentors and readers like you, we were able to reach people who might otherwise go unnoticed. Perhaps you know of a single parent struggling to provide for their family, an elderly person who has experienced loss, someone enduring a health issue, a co-worker suffering a sudden, unexpected tragedy or a neighbor with a financial hardship who has fallen between the cracks of getting assistance. Chances are you know someone with a specific need, even if no one else does. “We believe in giving back and serving the communities where we live in a real and tangible way,” says Steven Schowengerdt, CEO and founder of City Lifestyle. “This Giving Campaign is about personally impacting the lives of people we know with an unexpected check in the mail just to say that someone thought of them during this holiday season.” “We believe God has blessed our company with continued success, so we in turn want to be a blessing to others,” Matthew Perry, President of City Lifestyle adds. City Lifestyle has also enacted an internal giving program whereby every employee in the company receives $100 to give away to someone in the community. “The idea is to encourage our employees to keep giving on their own,” Steven says. “Taking care of one another and blessing others is truly rewarding and it perpetuates a cycle of giving. It’s extremely important to me as a person and as a company to foster a culture of generosity.”
