DOWNTOWN OKLAHOMA CITY IS CALLING, AND NOW, WITH A NEW DOWNTOWN STREETCAR, IT'S EASIER THAN EVER TO GET AROUND THE VIBRANT, CONSTANTLY GROWING AREA. A youthful city with a reverent and confident sense of self, Oklahoma City is embarking on a brave new future. As part of that renewal, Oklahoma City residents voted to self-fund a 4.86-mile modern streetcar system in 2009, which became one of EMBARK's options of transit services. The Oklahoma City Streetcar includes 22 stops linking major employers, businesses, attractions and residences in the downtown area, which officially launched on Dec. 14, 2018. With seven streetcars that hold roughly 104 people, the $135 million system will link all of Oklahoma City's popular areas, allowing residents and visitors to park, ride and get around to all their favorite places. EMBARK unveiled Bermuda Green, Clear Sky Blue and Redbud as the colors for the brand identity of the MAPS3’s Oklahoma City Streetcar. “Our use of color is bold and modern. From vintage exotic trucks and cars to sleek Lamborghinis, Exotic Motorsports of Edmond is giving what Oklahoma—and the rest of the nation—needed: a place to buy, sell and service some of the finest vehicles ever made. When Eliud Villarreal's brother first approached him about opening an exotic vehicle showroom, Eliud jumped on it. "No one was doing this in Oklahoma," he says. "Both my brother and I are exotic car enthusiasts, and I had been in the car business for nine years, so I said, 'Sure.' We were at Michael Murphy's at a New Year's Eve party. He started looking for a location, and I knew he was serious." As a part of the exotic car community in Oklahoma City for four years (Eliud owned a Lamborghini), the idea of offering Oklahomans and others a selection of hard-to-find vehicles was exciting. In July, he and his business partner, Braiden Bond, opened Exotic Motorsports on Kelly. The business took off. Within five months, they had sold close to 60 pre-owned exotic vehicles, averaging 10 to 12 a month. Although preowned, the cars all come to the store looking as if they are brand-new. "We have anything from old classic cars to new or exotic cars. A lot of these cars are on consignment, and we are very aggressive on our consignment rates. Typically when you consign a car or take a car to auction, they charge about 10 percent. Well, since we have low overhead, we charge 7 percent, and that means it's more money for the owner," Eliud says. "We market the car for them on various websites just as if they were our cars." Besides selling and finding dream cars for clients—as well as servicing and repairing on-site—Exotic Motorsports is mostly about making a car enthusiast's dream come true. "A lot of these cars a lot more affordable than what you think," Eliud says. "You ask yourself, 'Is a $100,000 Lamborghini affordable?' You can ask the same question if a $100,000 Cadillac Escalade is affordable, because if you go to any new Cadillac store, new Escalades cost $90,000. So yeah, we fulfill dreams, and we help people find ways to purchase the vehicles. We also locate vehicles for customers." The typical customer for an exotic car goes beyond definition, Braiden says. "I've been around enough to know that you don't underestimate someone that looks like they just got out from working on a car. They could have the finances and the means to purchase this. Our customers have a wide variety of appearances and cultures and age groups. I mean it's, it's all over," Braiden says. "There's no demographic. You expect the guy with the Lamborghini to have his three-piece suit, but that's not really the case." Exotic Motorsports also offers financing with banks that offer low rates. "Most of the exotic owners around Oklahoma City are people between the ages of 25 and 40," Eliud says. "It's not your stereotypical gentleman that's been working his whole life and retired. At its heart, the Meadows may be a small business doing data destruction for more than 2,500 clients statewide, but it's also a home away from home and a career center for adults who suffer from seizure disorders, developmental disabilities, Down syndrome and more. “It’s amazing the changes you can see,” says James Hill, executive director of the Meadows Center for Opportunity Inc. “Some were nonverbal when they started and now talk. Having this job brings them out of their shell, makes them feel valued and important. You see behaviors change, and they learn to adapt and learn new skills.”

purchased 7 acres of land and began fundraising to hire staff that could teach special needs adults with activities of daily living, like cooking, budgeting and basic hygiene. “Our individuals are a little more challenged, but they wanted real work experience,” James says. “The foundation started contracting with businesses to do tasks like cleaning, stuffing envelopes, building 10-speed bikes, creating MREs for the National Guard.” The Meadows also gained contracts from businesses like JASCO and Petra Industries to do repackaging and kit jobs, as well as sonic welding of hard plastic shells for electronic products. “These contracts are 10 percent of what we do here, but 90 percent is document destruction,” James says. “In 1993, the Meadows began looking for another revenue stream in order to be more self-sustaining. They did not want to be dependent on large donor base or state funds.” Today, the Meadows performs secure document destruction services for more than 2,500 companies, all state agencies and more. It is a member of the National Association for Information Destruction. In the early days, no other document destruction company existed in Oklahoma City, and a chance story by a local news channel about the Meadows boosted business. The Meadows provides controlled employment and training services to those with developmental disabilities and permanent brain damage as a result of traumatic injuries. These individuals work in a sheltered environment along with other

workers who have similar developmental disabilities. Customers in the business, banking, medical, government and educational fields rely on the Meadows to destroy sensitive and confidential information through data destruction, hard drive shredding and pill bottle destruction. In addition, the workers are also earning a wage. “Our employees are very dedicated, and we have 30 who have been here for 10 or more years,” James says. “Their loyalty and dedication is amazing.
