Home Is Where the Heart Is THE CONCEPT OF HOME IS DIFFERENT FOR EVERYONE. For some, home is where the family is. It’s the place where weekends were— or still are—filled with baby snuggles, bedtime stories and Saturday morning cartoons. The place where the smell of bacon and pancakes fills the air on Sunday mornings, "do your homework before you go outside" is a daily mantra and unsnoozable slobbery dog kisses take the place of your morning alarm. For others, home is where the rest is. It’s the place where, after a long day, they go to relax. Where they spend meaningful time with their significant other, enjoy home-cooked meals and settle in on a comfy couch to catch up on the week's latest guilty pleasure TV shows.

An Ormond Beach resident and graduate of Seabreeze High School and the Daytona State Culinary Program, Funcheon has been trained in many styles of cooking and is always experimenting with new ingredients and creating new dishes.

WOVEN + KNOTTED LIVING BOHO-CHIC WITH WOVEN TEXTURES AND MACRAMÉ Decorate your space with handmade textures such as the modern, maker revival of 1970s macramé and year-round tropical feel of wicker. MACRAMÉ Made through knotting instead of weaving, macramé can add a unique touch in many various ways. Houzz contributor Laura Gaskill suggests incorporating it as nursery decor, plant hangers, wall hangings and modern fiber arts. WICKER According to Houzz contributor Yanic Simard, “the best way to really embrace the luxury-cottage appeal of wicker and rattan is to combine different forms of the two in one space ... Look for other unexpected places to add a natural twist to your home with a new material woven into your palette.”

PARTING THOUGHTS

The Benefits of Honey WORDS SIDNEY LEO

Honey has been around for thousands of years and has been used in almost every culture around the world. Many people use it to sweeten food and beverages, but did you know honey is one of the top superfoods used to treat countless health conditions and boost overall health? Honey contains 18 amino acids, and it has antioxidant and antibacterial properties that help fend off harmful pathogens. It can also be used to treat a wide-range of aliments such as healing wounds and burns, athlete’s foot, sore throats and even a hangover. Local honey taken for two months before allergy season can actually lessen allergies by helping your body grow accustomed to the pollen and immunizing your body against them.

Honey is great for your skin Did you know that raw organic honey is great for your skin too? Honey has natural antibacterial properties, so it is an effective acne treatment option, and it is loaded with antioxidants and enzymes, so it helps boost your skin’s immunity and fights free radicals to help slow down aging. Honey is also very moisturizing and helps eliminate dead skin cells.  Try a honey mask with yogurt or fresh aloe for additional skin benefits. 34
