INVESTING IN HOME DESIGN CAN GIVE YOU A PEACEFUL SANCTUARY WHERE YOU CAN ESCAPE FROM THE STRESSES OF DAILY LIFE. SO GO AHEAD, TAKE THE PLUNGE AND REVAMP YOUR LIVING SPACES – IT’S WORTH EVERY PENNY!
There are many things that can help a room feel relaxing, but let’s keep it simple and focus on my top three. I would say that one must incorporate good lighting, great textures, and a decluttered space to truly get the cozy vibes. Let’s tackle each.
It’s imperative that there are multiple sources of light in a space. Rooms need a soft warm light, so I always like to use a light bulb between 2,700k and 3,000k. Also, all lights should have the same temperature light bulb to avoid clashing. It’s not enough to just have recessed or pendant lighting. I add a table or floor lamp to a space to truly have ambient light. Candles are a must for me. They can be scented candles (an extra way to add relaxation) or I like to use remote control tapered candles, so I don’t have to worry about cleaning up wax later.
Textures are seen in toss pillows, rugs, draperies, throw blankets and furniture upholstery. Textures add color, pattern and visual interest. I like to use at least three different textures to help a room feel lived-in and welcoming.
So many times, a person thinks that every nook and cranny and every wall need to have something, and this is not the case. A decluttered space is actually more relaxing because overcrowding of items doesn’t quiet the mind. Decluttering a space can be overwhelming, I get it, so just do it in stages. You’ll love the outcome when the room is tidy, organized and you are only surrounded with what brings you joy.

LEARN HOW TO KEEP YOUR SPACE COMFY ALL YEAR LONG
Andy Crawford began AC Titan 4 short years ago but his background in the industry goes back further. After leaving the grocery industry Crawford needed a career change, so, he turned to the air conditioning
he began working in the warehouse of an HVAC company and just seemed to keep going. He quickly moved to estimations, sales, and eventually ran a division of the company for a while. After being with the company
“I WASN’T GOING TO START OVER AGAIN FOR SOMEBODY ELSE,”
and heating world. His story may have started in the warehouse but that is not where it ended.
A native Texan, Crawford has been just about everywhere in the North Texas area. In fact, he had a ranch out in Italy, Texas where he met his wife of 16 years! They moved to the Northlake area to be closer to family and to begin their journey of owning a business.
Crawford has also been through just about every job imaginable in the air conditioning and heating industry. Once he’d left the grocery world,
over 20 years, he left there to work for another HVAC company which he helped grow significantly.
“I wasn’t going to start over again for somebody else,” Crawford said of his desire to run his own company.
AC Titan was born out of a need to have something for himself. His goal was to grow it from the ground up and that’s exactly what he did. He explained that, when he started the company, they had one warehouse in an RV storage unit. Now, they have several warehouses and an
office building, both of which they have already outgrown. Despite these growing pains, Crawford admits these are all good problems to have!
According to their website, the mission of AC Titan is to “become the leading provider of HVAC solutions in our region.” They accomplish this is by staying up to date with technology, trends, and solutions. Though AC Titan has only been around for a few years, they have made a huge impact in the community. Neighbors repeatedly praise their work as efficient, correct, and friendly. It’s easy to understand why!
Crawford is extremely knowledgeable in this field thanks to 30-plus years of experience. With spring right on our doorsteps, we wanted to know if there was a good time to start thinking about our AC units. Crawfords response?
“There is never a better time than the present to begin maintenance.”
So, what do homeowners need to do to maintain their AC units between visits?
The most important thing that Crawford stressed was to change the filter. Find out if yours needs to be done once a month or every 3 months then follow that schedule. Make sure that the area around your unit is clear from debris, rodents, and ants as this can cause complications. And, of course, schedule regular maintenance twice a year, preferably before extreme heat and cold weather, to ensure that your AC unit works properly all year long.
AC Titan is a mainstay of the Northlake community and you can contact them today for services. Head to their website, www.actitandfw.com or give them a call at 945-228-4826 to schedule an appointment.
Neighbors in the Northlake area have likely seen Savanna Romano running around with her camera in hand. At just 22 years old, Romano has been blessed with the opportunity to capture some incredible people, places, and things. Her favorite subject though? Cars! And no, we're not talking about the cartoon movie.
Romano fell in love with photography at an early age. "I was in middle school, 6th grade when I got into photography at a co-op school." She explained.
Her passion for cars comes from her dad. He would take her to car shows where she began to develop her style of shooting. For the next several years, she focused her efforts on capturing the sleek, beautiful, and unique designs of vehicles from every era. If you've had a chance to work with her, then you know that there is something truly special about Romano's work. She is able to bring forth a sense of style and design that can sometimes get lost in a two-dimensional image.
When she's not photographing cars or businesses, Romano is lucky to teach a photography course at a local school. For three days a week, she is helping to guide future photographers through the basics of this art form. She says it's a pleasure and privilege to share her knowledge and excitement for photography with younger students.
Though cars are Romano's favorite subject, she also loves to work on other projects. Since 2021, she has opened her photography skills up to work on weddings, business shoots, product stills, and more. One area that she's often called to work in is portraits including graduation photos, couple/engagement photos, family photos, and more. You've seen her handiwork throughout the Northlake City Lifestyle magazine as she is the exclusive photographer for our publication!
