Or as translated “to have the sun in our hearts.” While this heat may not be what we are all fond of, the Sun does have a special place in our hearts. Remember in February when we were all craving summer fun days? That time is upon us, and we can't soak in enough of it. Our ultimate escapes whether near or far, wild or faithful. This issue brings with it so much joy just like the glorious sun.
Let's explore how to make the most of July. Like many of us here, we are forever inviting those far from us to come and play. That doesn't mean you have to give up your sanctity. Let's travel down the road to some of our favorite places to stay on the river.
Or, embark on a journey through the skies or roads and beat the heat with some cooler Summer hot spots across the country. We're venturing to Colorado and other destinations that are renowned for their fun and relaxing vibes.
Some of us find summer inspiration differently by giving back to those in need. Lori Singleton is one of those adventurers. We will follow her on her journey through international volunteer trips that fill her cup for the rest of the year.
I look forward to putting so much of myself into each issue every month. I feel like this one, in particular, is the Oscars for New Braunfels and really where our city shines. The summer has us open our doors to all who visit and show precisely how brightly the spirit in this town shines. The many summer visits I took here opened my heart to the idea of living in one of my favorite places in Texas.
So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for making those summers so special with your enormous Texas hospitality. Of course, I'm here now, you don't have to try so hard. I jest, but keep those summer smiles shining, and go have some good old-fashioned fun!

Window World has long been a family-owned company, and Lindsay represents the fourth generation to serve the community for the New Braunfels location. The company started in San Antonio as Brickstone in 1947. Service Dogs for Kids empowers youth to take back their lives, one child, one dog, one day at a time. They aim to provide training for psychiatric service dogs to children who have suffered trauma. By creating Service Dogs for Kids, the founders Jason & Angelina hope to raise awareness of childhood abuse and the long-term effects they have. They hope to give children the best chance at life after trauma with a service dog by their side.

The sun dipped low, casting a warm, golden hue over the Comal River as we pulled into the driveway of the Bartram Haus. It was a modern house with a sleek design and large windows. Excitement buzzed as we unloaded the car, the kids darting off to explore their temporary haven.
Inside, the house was a marvel of contemporary elegance, a sanctuary of comfort and luxury. The open-plan living room, with its high ceilings and chic furnishings, beckoned for relaxation. Upstairs, the bedrooms offered views of the shimmering pool, inviting us to unwind and rejuvenate.
Days were spent lounging by the pool, the kids splashing and playing games while we soaked up the sun. Afternoons were for tubing down the Comal, our laughter echoing over the gentle current. The evenings were magical; we gathered on the spacious balcony, watching the sunset and fireflies blink in the twilight.
One night, we organized a family talent show, a riot of laughter and fun. My brother's off-key guitar strumming and my daughter’s impromptu dance had us in stitches, their enthusiasm infectious. We ended the evening with a bonfire by the pool, roasting marshmallows and recounting old tales, the crackling flames matching our warm, contented hearts.
As the week drew to a close, we knew this trip would be a cherished memory. The Bartram Haus, with its modern comforts and our laughter-filled moments, had woven itself into the fabric of our family’s story.

Last weekend, my daughter and I decided to embark on a little mother-daughter getaway to Mineral Wells, Texas. Known for its quirky charm and historic attractions. Our first stop?
The Crazy Bath House.
At the Crazy Bath House, we were enveloped in a soothing atmosphere. The warm, inviting scents of essential oils filled the air, and the friendly staff greeted us with smiles.
I opted for a full-body massage, while my daughter chose a rejuvenating facial. My massage therapist worked wonders. Meanwhile,
my daughter emerged from her facial with glowing skin. It was the perfect start to our crazy adventure.
Next, we headed to the home of Crazy Water, Mineral Wells' claim to fame. We learned about the history of this naturally mineral-rich water, which has been drawing visitors for over a century. We even sampled different varieties with unique taste and mineral content. Seeing how something as simple as water could have such a rich story and health benefits was fascinating.

For our overnight stay, we checked into the Crazy Water Hotel, a beautifully restored historic building that exuded vintage charm with modern comforts. Our room was a delightful blend of old-world elegance and contemporary amenities, making it a cozy retreat after a day of exploration. We dined at the hotel’s acclaimed restaurant, Second Bar + Kitchen, that evening. The food was exquisite, with dishes that showcased local flavors and inventive culinary techniques. We enjoyed every bite, savoring the vibrant atmosphere and delicious cuisine.
The next morning, we explored the local antique shops and coffee spots. Each store we visited was a treasure trove of unique finds, from vintage jewelry to quirky home décor. Our shopping spree was perfectly complemented by stopping at a cozy coffee shop, where we savored rich, aromatic brews and a delicious lunch.
Our hearts were full of fond memories as we drove home, and our car was packed with unique finds. Our trip to Mineral Wells had been everything we hoped for and more—a delightful blend of relaxation, history, and fun. It was a crazy good time.
