My girlfriend Tina and I traveled with friends to Nizuc in Cancun to celebrate our birthdays.  It has been one of my favorite destinations for over a decade, and it has only improved over the years in my opinion.

MY Self Wellness is a cutting-edge, multi-award winning Ketamine clinic and pioneer in the psychedelics space in Bonita Springs. I, along with my partner Christina Thomas, founded the nonprofit Warriors of Consciousness in 2022. With the mission to help those who cannot afford ketamine therapy treatments, Warriors of Consciousness aims to assist those struggling with anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression and other mental health conditions. Because ketamine therapy is not covered by

insurance, we understand the importance of experiencing these transformations without financial restrictions. I strongly believe everyone who needs access to these treatments should be able to find hope and healing and not be held back by financial constraints. To date, we have donated free treatments to more than 90 individuals.

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU?

Ending peoples’ suffering. I am an empath and I know what it feels like to suffer. If I can help stop peoples’ suffering and make a tangible difference in someone’s life, that’s what gets me out of bed every morning. I get excited because I know I get to help save a life.

I am Marvin D. Rouse an artist originally from Indianapolis, IN. I moved here with my now wife May 17th, 1998 to continue my dream to become a great artist. I was 21 years old with less than $300.00 and I would turn 22 just three days after arriving. Upon moving I started my business Rouse Designs, where we have provided creative solutions to Designers, Builders, and Architects for over 25 years. Utilizing my artistic gift in a diverse way has done more than I would have ever imagined in this industry. I am at heart an artist with a vast imagination brought to life through my paintings and sculptures I exhibit out of my downtown Old Naples studio gallery. HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED IN THIS BUSINESS?

I tore my rotator cuff 4 years ago while I was sparring and training MMA and could not move my left arm without the assistance of my right arm and was in searing pain. My doctor told me I needed a new shoulder, it would cost $50,000, I would be out of commission for 6 months and no guarantee of mobility after that. Fortunately, I’d seen a segment on Joe Rogan about benefits of regenerative medicine. I called a friend who treated me with anti-aging regenerative medicine and within one week my arm was fully mobile and I was pain-free. Within two weeks I was back in the gym and training MMA and was 20% stronger than before

plus my neck, back, and knees felt remarkably better. I began further investigation and research then and fast forward to 2024 launched my own clinic.

WHAT ARE YOUR FUTURE GOALS?

To open four more locations in FL, 200 nationwide, and then globally to help people optimize their health and lives across the planet. The locations I have selected will allow people to get off a plane with a short walk to the clinic. Also, I plan to start a massive foundation to treat people who can’t afford the treatment as it is currently not covered by any insurance or financing. The foundation will focus on the veterans and people of service plus collaborate with other foundations.

I am a very proud, 4th generation Naples Floridian. For the past decade, I’ve worked as a medical device rep for various companies providing hip and knee prostheses. 6 years ago, my wife Shelby and I opened She She on 5th Blow Dry Loft & Salon (which my wife primarily runs), and last year, our new endeavor, Med Spa on 5th. The location of our businesses is particularly important to me as I’ve always viewed 5th Avenue as the heart of our beautiful city.

Balance is key to everything. I try to make sure to put just as much heart into work as I do into my marriage and friendships. One cannot exist without the other. I stay balanced by knowing when to put work down and focus on why I’m really doing all of it; to make a better life for those I love.

Always be presentable. First impressions are everything. You never know who you’re going to meet or where your next opportunity lies.

In the past 5 years or so, new construction homes that are located in a close proximity to town, at a reasonable price range, have been difficult to come by. I started working with a select few contractors to identify, design, and renovate homes that were developed in the late 90’s/ early 2000’s. This has helped my customers stay close to town, build “sweat equity”, and essentially have a brand new home within their budget.

WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT TO YOU IN LIFE?

My wife and the life that we’re building together.

I try to take a lot of small vacations throughout the year. It could be a weekend to Tampa/ Miami or a two-week trip overseas in our off-season. Taking time to myself to recharge has been the most helpful.

Let's kick off this review with a bit of backstory: I have strong ties to Italy, making the journey about four times a year (over 60 trips in total), with family connections there, and even finding love in the country. From traversing the mainland to exploring Sicily and Sardinia, I've covered a lot of ground. To boot, I'm a bit of an espresso snob.

Bontà is that moment when the spotlight hits an empty stage, and then, the star emerges. That star shines brilliantly on Fifth Avenue, and I'm eager to spill the beans about this gem. Stepping into Bontà feels like a direct trip to Italy. It's truly authentic.

Please, whatever you do, don’t ask for “A Panini!” That's like asking for "a sandwiches". One sandwich is a Panino! (NOW YOU KNOW!!!) Their Pizza Ripiena (Pizza Filled) includes options like Prosciutto di Parma Arugula, Tomato, Mozzarella, and Olive Oil, Prosciutto Cotto (Ham) Mozzarella, and Olive Oil, Mortadella with Pistachio Pesto, Caprese (Tomato, Mozzarella, and Basil Pesto), Turkey, Cream Cheese, and Arugula, and Salami, Ricotta, and Arugula.

Sfogliatelle (shell-like pastries with multiple layers of thin, flaky pastry dough):

These treats boast a filling typically made of ricotta cheese, sugar, and sometimes candied citrus peel. They provide a delightful crunch thanks to their freshness.

Coffee:

Please don’t say ex-presso; it's pronounced es-spres-so! Italians swear by espresso drinks; for example, if you want American coffee, that's a shot of espresso mixed with

hot water. Bontà's espresso is perfect! Smooth as can be with a crema on top. The strong presence of crema in an espresso shot indicates a quality, well-ground coffee and a skilled barista!

Gelati (Plural form of Gelato referring to the many flavors): I tried two flavors, and they were as creamy as can be, not overly sweet.

Perfecting Your Golf Swing

Whether you are a new golfer or have been playing for decades, we all want the same thing—to be a single-digit handicap (or better). In some professions, golfing with clients is a must, and slicing off the tee box can kill the deal.

Get fit for equipment.

If you are buying clubs off the rack, you aren’t giving yourself the best chance for success. Golf technology is evolving every year, and although you don’t need to buy a new driver each year, if you’ve been playing with the same clubs for 5+ years, it’s time to take advantage of the new equipment. Newer clubs have lower and deeper center of gravity (CG), creating an easier launch off the face. Even off-center strikes can produce a straight shot with the right set of clubs. Any major golf store will fit you for free—just make sure you get the correct length club and size grip. The clubs don’t swing themselves, so don’t neglect instruction and practice, but getting the right equipment is a vital piece of the puzzle.

On drivers and hybrids, some of the newest equipment have premium shaft options off the rack. Generally, a $300 driver has a low-grade $15 shaft that you should change. The shaft is the engine of the club, so getting custom shafts will add distance and forgiveness—guaranteed.

As for the putter, you use it more than any other club in your bag on every round of golf. It should be the most tailored club in your bag.

Get good golf instruction, REGULARLY.

We’ve all heard someone say, “I should get a lesson sometime.” To be effective, you need regular lessons from a PGA certified pro, not just one lesson. Getting quality instruction from the same instructor can turn slices into draws and give you the confidence to play with anyone on any course. Years ago, golf instructors started instruction with chipping and putting and then graduated to the driver. Now, instructors have been pressured to start with the driver because we all want to outdrive our friends. Resist that temptation! Get instruction on your short game and irons first. My friend regularly outdrives me by 50 yards, but my ball is in the hole first most of the time because of my training and practice on the short game.

Practice your short game every day.

You don’t even have to spend time away from your family while practicing if you don’t have a golf simulator. You can practice putting and chipping on the carpet while watching TV with your family.

Chipping and the bump and run: The only mechanical advice I will give is the most important lesson you can learn in the short game. When you miss your approach shot you must be able to chip the ball within 8 feet of the hole for a one putt. Try this shot from Dave Peltz’s short game book. It gets me up and down from 25 yards out to just off the green.

Instructors have been pressured to start with the driver because we all want to outdrive our friends. Resist that temptation! Get instruction on your short game and irons first.

Position the ball in the back of your stance, just inside your back ankle. This will help avoid hitting it thin. That ball position will also help you hit the ball with a descending blow, and as Dave Pelz says, “hit the little ball (golf ball) before the big ball (the earth).”

Turn your feet 30 degrees toward the target and have 70% of your weight on your front foot which also promotes the descending blow.

Use a putting stroke to hit the ball. That’s right—do not use your hands or wrists for power. Using a putting stroke just off the green will create consistency and clean contact.

Don’t take the club back very far (depending on the length of the shot) and make sure your follow-through is 20% further than your backswing. This will ensure accelerating through the ball.

Use the right club. I use anything from a 9 iron to 60-degree wedge for this shot. Use a 9 iron or wedge when you need the ball to roll further once it hits the green, and use a more lofted club for less roll. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

If you perfect this shot, you’ll be chipping in and getting up and down much more often.

Whether you just welcomed a new furry friend into your home or you’re teaching an old dog new tricks, you and your pet are sure to have a fun time! Spending time playing and training with your pet makes for a great bonding experience! Don’t forget to reward them with some delicious dog treats when they successfully do a trick. My pup’s personal favorite treats are chicken, peanut butter, and carrots. We hope you and your pup have a great time learning the tricks on this list!

SPEAK

Get your dog to bark naturally (try ringing the doorbell or knocking on the door). Once they bark, say ‘speak’ and reward them.

STAY

Have your dog sit and then tell them to stay. Hold your hand out with your palm toward their nose in the stop position. If they hold the position for a second or two, praise them and reward them with a treat. Keep repeating this and gradually having them stay longer.

SHAKE

Hold your hand out in front of your dog. Your dog may do some experimenting trying to figure out what you want. Once they put their paw in your hand, immediately praise and reward them.
