Investment by definition is the act of devoting time, effort, energy or finances to a particular undertaking with the expectation of a worthwhile result. We can invest in a lot of things such as our community, our relationships, our finances, and our health with the hope that the effort will have a positive impact. My whole life I've been critiqued as having too broad of a 'like' for the humans, not vetting the qualities and attributes of others more carefully before bringing them into a friend group. We have many success stories, partly because when during COVID and all the restaurants had to close, we worked to the extreme creating financial budgets to keep them afloat, and paying bills without generating income until they were able to reopen.  All of our restaurants reopened without failing during the economic downturn.

13 Florida Residents Inducted into Knighthood in Naples Ceremony

The event was held on Feb. 11 at the Ritz-Carlton.

Residents in Southwest Florida now have neighbors living amongst them who have been officially recognized by royalty. Celebrated for their many contributions and commitment to giving back, 13 area men and women were inducted into the Royal Order of Francis I in an honorary ceremony held at the Ritz-Carlton Naples this past winter.

A historically distinguished organization, the Royal Order of Francis I was established by the Royal House of Bourbon two centuries ago. It was King Francis I of the Two Sicilies who first instituted it as an order of merit, shortly before his untimely death, to recognize significant achievements in the arts, letters and sciences.

Each year, individuals are carefully selected based on their ongoing contributions to society. The 2024 inductees all hail from various fields including business, science and education. With remarkable business accomplishments under their belt, many have served in top-tier leadership positions such as founder and CEO roles.

In turn, the newly knighted members have each sought ways to better enrich their communities with their time dedicated to providing guidance and a helping hand for nonprofits and beyond. Their work extends to organizations including the Naples Children & Education Foundation, Naples Zoo, Naples Winter Wine Festival, and more, in addition to out-of-state charities.

Friend and fellow designer Allison Pezzuti is the owner and creative powerhouse behind her company Pelerine.

Pelerine adorns iconic women and men in love with 100% silk made in Italy. This natural fabric from nature acts as a conduit, connecting the wearer with the divine universe of magic and wonder. Upon my latest venture into the culinary scene, I had the pleasure of dining at The Warren, a gem that champions American cuisine with a twist. Here’s a recount of the experience that unfolded, a tale of flavor and finesse.

THE AROMA OF EXCELLENCE

As you enter The Warren, you’re greeted with a melody of scents that promise indulgence. A glance at the menu, and you realize you’re in for a journey of discovery, with dishes that pay homage to the land’s bounty.

SIRLOIN TO SAVOR

The star of the evening, the sirloin, rested proudly on a wooden platter, a testament to the grill’s magic. Paired with wilted greens and a sweet touch of caramelized onions, every bite was a nod to the mastery of meat craft.

CHOPS WITH CHAR

Lamb chops, adorned with the bright hues and zest of chimichurri, were a dance of flavors. Arugula and citrus whispers added freshness to the rich, tender meat, making each forkful a celebration.

TENDER TIPS OF DELIGHT

The beef tips were a revelation in their own right. Nestled in a robust sauce, the succulence of the meat shone through, enhanced by the perfect marinade, turning comfort food into a gourmet affair.

PASTA FROM THE DEEP

The seafood pasta was a display of the ocean’s treasures interwoven with the art of Italian cuisine.

Each forkful of fresh pappardelle was a luxurious embrace with pieces of half lobster tail and plump scallops, bathed in a delicate sauce that highlighted the seafood’s natural sweetness.

A TOWERING TRIUMPH

The seafood tower was a spectacle, a tiered display of the ocean’s finest. From the tender lobster to the fresh oysters, each layer was an ode to the sea, presented with flair and flavor.

KENTUCKY FRIED INNOVATION

Their take on Kentucky fried chicken was nothing short of innovative. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, it was Southern comfort with an upscale twist, leaving a memorable aftertaste of subtle spices.

OCTOPUS ODYSSEY

The octopus was a masterpiece, tender and perfectly charred, complementing the medley of summer corn and heirloom tomatoes. Each piece was a brushstroke of culinary art, enhanced by a delicate basil aioli.

CHARCUTERIE AND CHEESE, A PALATE’S PLEASURE

The charcuterie platter was an array of gourmet delights, each slice of prosciutto and morsel of mortadella a whisper of old-world charm. The curated cheeses were a symphony of textures and tastes, perfectly complementing their meaty counterparts.

In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to feel disconnected and drained. The constant hustle and bustle of modern life can leave us feeling unbalanced and out of sync. As I personally navigate all the intricacies of the wellness arena, I continue to discover new and exciting pathways to increase overall quality of life, and this may be a new concept to many–myself included–but it’s actually been available to us…well, forever. What exactly is grounding? Grounding is the practice of connecting to the Earth's natural energy to rebalance and recharge our bodies.
