The holidays are here and as the spirit of the season is among us, we often try to replicate what made the season feel so magical to us in our youth. The traditions we set for our own families often mirror some of what we experienced as a child whether it is the smells, the sounds, the lights, the holiday activities or a combination of it all that reflect that best. I moved to Naples New Years Day 2022, knowing 3 people living in Naples. I had deep anxiety about leaving my 20 year friend group and family in Philadelphia... and was out of sorts for months in Naples. You all have healed my concern and embraced me and the magazine far exceeding my wildest expectations. You have my thanks, support and love always. Thank you. For this cover and every December Issue cover here forward, we celebrate our 'Family' of advertising partners, writers, social media partners and others that support our efforts at City Lifestyle Naples. This month we Celebrate 'family', and what's more important to the family celebration than a family wedding. Told by Naples born and raised, Vivian Grimes, she helps us all understand pulling off a perfect Naples Wedding. 'From Naples to Dubai' follows the kind hearted Baron Jones journey to moving from away from paradise, to the unknown exciting world of the ever growing Dubai. We’ve compiled a gift guide from the amazing Kate Sofranco of Feel at HOM, to make your shopping easier and that also supports our local businesses. We also wanted to share what our area has to offer this holiday season for entertainment and ways to give back. While this season can be beautiful for some, it can be painful and lonely for others, especially those who have recently lost a loved one. In the true spirit of the season, let’s take care of those in our community that need assistance or who are alone. My hope for you this season is that you feel love and peace and that we all remember to take care of each other extending grace, empathy and love. Happy Holidays! Sincerely,

CLN Events

OCTOBER 2023 We closed out the month of October with a wide variety of wonderful events. From our celebrated Ladies Leadership Luncheon, our monthly Wellness Triathlon at the Naples Pier, and a picnic under the stars by The Beach Picnic Co, it was a month to remember.

BEACH PICNIC A special thank you to Paige, Ricardo, and Theo of the Beach Picnic Co for the delightful, beautifully curated evening. The sound of the shore and happy friends making memories were truly the perfect way to end the week.

LADIES LEADERSHIP LUNCHEON Our very own Heather Schwarz and Kim Staley hosted another luncheon where the entrepreneurial women of Naples were able to come together to learn, connect, and grow at Del Mar.

WELLNESS TRIATHLON After a rain reschedule, a big thank you to Jacqueline Bingham for stepping in and delighting our yogis with a picturesque beachside practice. CONTINUED >

own Br ina Virg VIRGINIA BROWN

WHEN DID YOU MOVE TO NAPLES? I moved to Naples April 2023, returned to Boston for the summer, and now am back in Naples full-time.

WHAT ARE THE MAIN REASONS YOU CHOSE NAPLES? I chose Naples because when my oldest went to Charleston, SC for college and my youngest went to an independent boarding school in Northern MA, I became an “empty nester”. The New England winters are too cold for me, and moving to Florida had always been a dream of mine! fell in love with the beaches, sunsets and restaurants of Naples. Also, a driving force was that I expanded my early childhood schools and care centers, The Global Child, LLC to Florida and I opened our 5th location in Estero, September 2022.

WHICH TALENT WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO HAVE? To be able to sing

WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST EXTRAVAGANCE? I don’t consider myself very extravagant. Probably lashes, eating out, clothes. I am just as happy doing low-cost activities as well as expensive ones. I, of course, like nice things sometimes, but I feel balance and being down to earth is an important characteristic.

WHAT DO YOU MOST ADMIRE ABOUT YOUR APPEARANCE? I am often complimented on my smile. I like my smile! I don’t typically wear any makeup. I am not comfortable in it and prefer to be as natural as possible. I work out because it makes me feel good and eat well, because I just prefer and choose to eat healthier foods.

WHICH LIVING PERSON DO YOU MOST ADMIRE? Probably my children, they are the most resilient, hard-working, loyal, usually kind, people I know. The characteristics I admire most in people.

WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT? Founding, creating, and building The Global Child, LLC, An Early Childhood School and Care Center with my late husband, while at the same time, serving as an Elementary Principal and Director of Special Education of a 4000+ school district.

WHAT IS YOUR PASSION? Sailing, gardening, anything under the creativity umbrella, building new relationships, meeting the world, adventures without an agenda.

WHAT IS YOUR OCCUPATION? Co-Owner of PINK SHARK MEDIA - full service social media/marketing company.

WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST FEAR? Settling for a mediocre, unchallenged life. Gives me heart palpitations.

WHAT OR WHO IS THE GREATEST LOVE OF YOUR LIFE? My family and my partner in crime, Mason! Every single one of them are my greatest and most fulfilling loves of my life.

IF YOU COULD CHANGE ONE THING ABOUT YOURSELF, WHAT WOULD IT BE? Nothing, I love me. It took me years to get rid of all my former answers to this question. And I am glad I did it!

WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT? Spending YEARS to become whole inside. I told myself I have until 30 years old to release the insecurities and fill the gaps of who I truly am. And I did that.

WHAT IS YOUR MOST TREASURED POSSESSION? A Rolex I received as a gift from a long time friend. It was their way of showing how much they appreciated the friendship and the years of standing by their side when they had nothing, no family or friends. CONTINUED >

o rus JaJ A MmiI Ee C Ca ARUSO WHAT ARE THE MAIN REASONS YOU CHOSE NAPLES? We’ll need a few more pages for this. Why NOT live here? My husband and I chose Naples for its beauty, pleasant climate, and the warmth of its people, all wrapped in the old-world charm of the city. The combination of pristine beaches, diverse opportunities, and a city that maintains a small-town feel made it an ideal place to call home.

WHAT IS YOUR PASSION? My passion is helping other people feel great, in life, and in the salon. Hair is my first true passion. I am an avid continuing education, girl. I am driven to be the best in the most knowledgeable stylist. I spent my time educating myself at the best academies in the world. I study precision haircutting at the prestigious Vidal Sassoon Academy, and recently acquired a master color expert certificate through the Wella studio in LA. I want to educate myself and my clients to achieve and maintain their best self and hair at home.

LOOKING BACK ON YOUR LIFE, WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE YOUR YOUNGER SELF? Remember to believe in yourself and not letting fear of criticism hold you back. It’s a powerful mindset for achieving your goals and finding happiness in life. Your potential is limitless, and focusing on your own growth and happiness is more important than worrying about others’ opinions.

WHEN AND WHERE ARE YOU THE HAPPIEST? My happiest time of the day is the morning. I cherish my morning rituals which consist of meditating, reading, writing down my goals, and then getting to work on achieving them. My happiest place is the beach.

30

I NSP IR E D BY | A RTS + CULTURE

WHICH WORDS AND PHRASES DO YOU OVERUSE? This is a good one. When I teach my clients how to set their own hair at home and they want volume I say, “Setting your hair is like molding chocolate. You melt it, pour it in the mold, and put it in the refrigerator to harden. Your hair is the same. Start by blow-drying it, while the hair is 100% dry set it into the desired shape, and then let it cool.”

WHAT IS YOUR OCCUPATION? Co-Owner of PINK SHARK MEDIA - full service social media/marketing company.

WHAT IS THE TRAIT YOU MOST ADMIRE IN YOURSELF? My intuition and being able to see the bigger picture even when things seem chaotic.

n iffe Gr na Ele ELENA GRIFFEN

WHICH LIVING PERSON DO YOU MOST ADMIRE? My mom, for overcoming countless obstacles and still staying positive and strong through it all.

WHAT OR WHO IS THE GREATEST LOVE OF YOUR LIFE? My husband Miles, and daughter, Emilia. The purest form of love.

WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT? My greatest achievement, I would say, is starting my own company and taking the risks to get there. It’s a significant milestone in my life that I’m extremely proud of. This journey required a combination of vision, hard work, and the courage to step out of my comfort zone.

WHAT IS YOUR MOST TREASURED POSSESSION? A necklace my parents gave me when I turned 20 years old. It was a ruby my father gifted to my mom for their 20th anniversary.

WHAT DO YOU MOST VALUE IN YOUR FRIENDS? Their loyalty and love, not only for me but also for my family. Having friends who genuinely care about my well-being and the well-being of my loved ones is something I treasure deeply. It’s a testament to the strength of our friendships and the bonds we’ve built. These friends are there to celebrate our joys and stand by our side during challenges, making them an invaluable part of my life.

WHAT IS YOUR OCCUPATION? I am a Portrait Photographer, Social Media Video Content Creator and a Manifesting Mentor.

LOOKING BACK ON YOUR LIFE, WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE YOUR YOUNGER SELF? Always stay excited for what is to come. Know your power and how to tap into it to create whatever you desire. Do not succumb to society or family pressures if it does not resonate. Be strong enough to be an independent thinker.

WHAT IS THE TRAIT YOU MOST ADMIRE IN YOURSELF? Being able to create businesses and money out of nothing over and over and the tenacity and determination to keep going.

WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST FEAR? It’s already happened. The time when my daughters are out of my house and on their own. Losing time with them.

CRAFTING A DREAM

Naples Wedding As the world of wedding planning continues to evolve, it's essential to find inspiration from those who understand the significance of the day better than most. Vivian Grimes, the visionary creator and owner of Henri Noël Fine Jewelry, recently celebrated her own wedding, offering us a glimpse into her world of elegance, creativity, and the fine art of saying "I do." Nestled in the heart of South Florida, Vivian's company has swiftly risen to national recognition, embodying her commitment to ethically sourced, high-quality materials, while celebrating the legacy of her father, Henri. It's a brand where every piece of jewelry tells a story, and their signature look, layering rings, has become a fashion statement of its own. Her focus has always been to create jewelry that reflects the person wearing it and more importantly, mesh the idea of fine jewelry with everyday wear. Today, we delve into her wedding planning experience, from color choices to creating an unforgettable atmosphere. As couples embark on the journey to create their perfect day, the choices can seem overwhelming. Where do you start? How do you find a dress? How do you pick colors, a venue, a theme? And what about the guest list!? Vivian provides an illuminating peek into how she started the process and what helped her along the way.

OK, FIRST AND FOREMOST, THE STANDARD QUESTION, HOW DID YOU GUYS MEET? We actually met in college, we knew each other for a while before we decided to dive into a relationship and the rest is history!

“Vivian’s insights remind us that a wedding isn’t just about the dress or food or location, but rather, our loved ones coming together in a warm and inviting atmosphere.” SO WHERE DOES ONE START!? HOW DID YOU FIGURE OUT STEP ONE? I began with selecting a theme, settling on a ‘simple, modern, whimsical coastal garden party’ concept. The inspiration was to blend a little English style with my vision. I wanted it to be a beautiful and classy garden party on the beach. We wanted a theme that felt like a natural extension of who we are. It was all about finding that perfect balance between tradition and personality. Paying homage to her husband's British heritage, Vivian accomplished just that. From the photos on Instagram, anyone would envy the ability to envision something and transform it into the reality they did. The result was a unique and captivating atmosphere that encapsulated their love story.

GUYS NEVER USUALLY WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PROCESS, WHAT WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE? Well yeah, don’t have them trying to pick napkin colors and centerpieces. We did the fun stuff like cake tasting and made big decisions together. It was actually a lot of fun and we both had a great time with it. Just focus on each of your strengths and use that to your advantage in the planning process.

HOW DID YOU CHOOSE YOUR COLORS AND BRIDESMAID DRESSES?I feel like that’s been different at every wedding I’ve been to.I think it’s actually a really important part. As a bride of course you want to feel beautiful, but more importantly, you want your guests to enjoy themselves and feel great too. I tried to make my decisions based on that. I gave my friends the freedom to choose whatever dresses they wanted, as long as it fit my color scheme, which was a variety of blues. And they definitely came through! I decided to do the different bridesmaid dresses before that was really even a thing. No one had done that or was doing that at the time. The result was everyone feeling their most beautiful selves. It contributed to the overall energy and feel of the wedding. Little did she know that this forward-thinking approach would go viral, captivating the hearts of many after watching her wedding video with thousands of others. Now everyone is implementing a variety when it comes to bridesmaid dresses.

DARE WE SAY VIVIAN STARTED THIS TREND? Based on my short conversation with the trendsetter, I have no doubt. In regards to what truly matters when planning a wedding, most can agree that it’s usually the food and music. Vivian adds that the venue is actually essential and really, who you invite as well. EVERYONE SAYS FOOD AND MUSIC MAKE A WEDDING, WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THAT? Honestly, the

40

H OW TO | EVENT PL AN N I NG + S E RVI CE S

venue and the people are probably the most important I think. The venue was actually really difficult because it’s tough to find a place in Naples, FL for 200 guests. And parking for all those guests…and hotels….like, it becomes quite a task. And the people. That was the best part. Everyone had such a great time, the entire wedding had this amazing energy. It’s hard to put into words, but you could feel the love. In her case, finding a large enough venue in Naples posed the most challenging, but it was essential in creating the ambiance they desired. And as for the guest list, family was the overarching theme. It was an intimate affair where everyone was family and you could feel the love; it seemed to be tangible.

PIGGY-BACKING OFF OF THAT, HOW DID YOU CHOOSE THE GUEST LIST? Everyone that was there, I talked to all the time. Everyone present has been very present in my life. We are a giant family, truly. The sense of togetherness was unmistakable. 200 sounds like a lot of people, but really, it didn’t feel that way. Each table was oriented around the dance floor, so it was a tight circle. Every table was different, shaped differently, and everyone just got along. Creating a positive vibe was a crucial element for Vivian. Her approach was simple yet effective -cultivating an energy where everyone felt free to be themselves and have fun. The focus was on dancing and enjoying each other's company, with no undue emphasis on drinking. She credits her wedding planner for playing a significant role in every aspect, but also ensuring the celebration wasn't centered around alcohol. The setup, music, and the arrangement of tables contributed to the intimacy; every guest felt cherished. The planner's meticulously crafted schedule left no room for downtime between transitions, ensuring the joyous energy remained constant throughout the night.

HOW DID YOU PICK YOUR DRESS AND RING? I feel like there are so many options nowadays, it would be tough to narrow down. It seems daunting! For me, it was actually really easy because I already knew what designer and dress I wanted. The designer shares my philosophy in that what you wear is a reflection of the unique person you are. For the ring, I mean, I have been designing rings for so many lovely couples that you would think it would help me narrow choices down, but I found myself, like many soon-to-bebrides, overwhelmed with choice. For my engagement ring, my husband worked with my dad -who is also a jeweler -to create. They knew I wanted an oval-cut diamond for my engagement ring because I have always been drawn to the natural brilliance

and fire of this diamond shape. For my wedding band, I found this to be a fun process because I was able to create a piece so special and representative of our special wedding day. I always say your rings are actually the one thing after your wedding day that you get to actually keep that has such symbolism. My husband and I worked together creating both of our bands. My wedding band features emerald-cut diamonds and marquise-cut diamonds separated and set in a way that you can see each stone’s diamonds faceting. This is really important to me. I wanted each diamond to be seen and have its own moment. My husband’s band is what we call a Trinity Band. We decided on two bands attached by a jump ring. The larger yellow gold band represents him, the white gold band represents me, and the jump ring holding them together represents our union -and our dachshund, Pippa. On the inside of the wider band, there’s a Union Jack because Max is from England, along with the words, ‘Today and Always.’

WHO COULDN’T FALL IN LOVE WITH THAT!? The wedding dress designer hopes every bride that wears her dresses, wears them from beginning to end. She isn’t satisfied with the versatility and the comfort of the dress unless it’s dirty and the bride never felt the need to remove it. As for the rings, it’s no surprise that Vivian had the most eloquent and thought-out response. Being her specialty, I would expect nothing less. BEFORE CONCLUDING OUR CONVERSATION, WE ASKED VIVIAN FOR SOME ADVICE FOR FUTURE COUPLES. HER RESPONSE WAS HEARTWARMING AND DEFINITELY WORTH CONSIDERING: After everyone left for the after-party, the band stayed and played another song just for us. We had our last dance, just the two of us, and it was perfect. We were on a high from all the love in the room, and we soaked it all in. I think every couple should take a moment or some time to themselves during or after, where they can just step back, embrace the moment and enjoy one another. Vivian's insights remind us that a wedding isn’t just about the dress or food or location, but rather, our loved ones coming together in a warm and inviting atmosphere. It’s more than just the food, it’s who we share the food with. It’s more than the DJ or band, it’s who has chosen to dance next to us on our big day. The love and energy trumps it all. In our time together, it was easy to see and feel Vivian’s energy, it was truly contagious! I can understand how she makes each of her clients in the jewelry industry feel like family, ensuring the experience is very personal. Naples to Dubai

BARRON JONES IS LIVING

ARTICLE BY CITY LIFESTYLE NAPLES STAFF

Barron Wade Jones, a name that resonates with resilience, determination, and the spirit of adventure, embodies the very essence of Naples Lifestyle. Born in the midwest in the quaint town of Evansville, Indiana, Barron's life journey has taken him from humble beginnings to global success, with Naples, Florida, at the heart of his inspiring story and has since ventured even further to Dubai, where he continues to make his mark. Growing up with his brother Chad, sister Sara, and parents Jeriann and Rick, Barron learned the value of hard work and family early on. His journey began with a humble start at the age of 16, when he grew up in Newburgh, Indiana for his first job at Dairy Queen which laid the foundation for his work ethic. But life had bigger plans for Barron. At a young age, Barron's ambition knew no bounds. After high school, Barron went to community college in Evansville, which did not turn out well so he left it. After community college he tried University, after 2.5 years he failed school and ended up as a college dropout at the University of Western Kentucky in Bowling Green, Kentucky. After college, he had no choice but to work. Barron started working in a factory in the middle of Tennessee for 7 days a week, 14 hours a day, just to make ends meet. He realized the pursuit of his dreams required sacrifice. Barron saved his money and embarked on a nomadic adventure that took him to many cities from the sunny shores of Los Angeles to the musical heart of Nashville, and later the vibrant streets of Miami that led him to Naples, Florida. Barron's journey took a pivotal turn when he co-founded Trike Tours USA

HIS DREAM

in Naples, Florida a business venture that would reshape his life and inspire countless others from all parts of the world. The story of Trike Tours USA began almost serendipitously. Barron and his business partner initially embarked on a different entrepreneurial path, running a cooking show and selling cookware. However, fate had other plans when they stumbled upon scooters while working at a flea market in Fort Myers, which sparked their curiosity. Undaunted by initial setbacks, Barron and his partner invested in six scooters, hoping to turn a profit. But sales remained elusive, and they even faced expulsion from a trade show in Tampa Bay. The scooters languished in their garage for months, until a visit to downtown Naples changed everything. While on a segway tour of the picturesque city, Barron found his inspiration. He envisioned a new way to explore Naples, and thus, the concept of Trike Tours USA was born. Starting a tourism business from scratch was no easy feat, and Barron's journey was fraught with challenges. He diligently distributed flyers on 5th Avenue for weeks, facing skepticism and indifference. However, his determination paid off when he received the first phone call from a flyer in December 2017. He found a store available in Tin City in January 2018, and built the store from scratch with the help of his best friend. Today, Trike Tours USA is one of Naples' most popular tourist attractions, offering a range of experiences that showcase the city's beauty, history, and culture. You can take the tour today located inside Tin City Shops next to the ice cream store. Today, Barron resides in Dubai. In the heart of the desert, he's made his mark in Dubai, one of the greatest leading real estate markets in the world. While selling millions in real estate and forging connections with influential figures he's also ventured into the oil and gas industry, further expanding his horizons. He has built many connections including, local Sheiks, the government of Africa to royal families of Saudi Arabia, and that’s just to name a few. As if his journey

couldn't get any more diverse, Barron's passion for music, spanning genres from country to EDM to Trance, hip-hop, rock and even to old classics, this has led him to become a music producer. His latest creation, last month "Into My World," is on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. This is a proven testament to his artistic prowess. Barron Wade Jones's extraordinary journey, from a small-town boy to a global entrepreneur, his journey in life is a powerful reminder that dreams can be pursued against all odds. His story inspires us to relentlessly chase our aspirations, regardless of where we come from or the challenges we face. It demonstrates that with unwavering determination and a commitment to one's passion, dreams can be transformed into a remarkable reality. Barron's life is a true testament to the human spirit's capacity to soar to great heights, and his story is an invitation for all to strive for greatness, and to embrace their dreams and make them come true. Giving Campaign

2023 64

G IV IN G B AC K | L IFE + C ULTURE

“

This Giving Campaign is all about personally impacting the lives of people we know with an unexpected check in the mail just to say that someone thought of them this holiday season.”

The annual City Lifestyle Giving Campaign is in its 4th year. Last holiday season we gave away over $300,000 to help 116 individuals and families in need, but we need your help to make it happen again this year. With nominations flooding in from community members and leaders such as judges, police officers, teachers, nurses, social workers, mentors and readers like you, we were able to reach people who might otherwise go unnoticed. Perhaps you know of a single parent struggling to provide for their family, an elderly person who has experienced loss, someone enduring a health issue, a co-worker suffering a sudden, unexpected tragedy or a neighbor with a financial hardship who has fallen between the cracks of getting assistance. Chances are you know someone with a specific need, even if no one else does. “We believe in giving back and serving the communities where we live in a real and tangible way,” says Steven Schowengerdt, CEO and founder of City Lifestyle. “This Giving Campaign is about personally impacting the lives of people we know with an unexpected check in the mail just to say that someone thought of them during this holiday season.” “We believe God has blessed our company with continued success, so we in turn want to be a blessing to others,” Matthew Perry, President of City Lifestyle adds. City Lifestyle has also enacted an internal giving program whereby every employee in the company receives $100 to give away to someone in the community. “The idea is to encourage our employees to keep giving on their own,” Steven says. “Taking care of one another and blessing others is truly rewarding and it perpetuates a cycle of giving. It’s extremely important to me as a person and as a company to foster a culture of generosity.”
